onenote mobile for andorid : The most anticipated note app is here - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

original thread.

One of the most anticipated app for android from microsoft is here
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.microsoft.office.onenote

Gag /10char gag

shows as incompatible for the n7000 =(

Installed from the market just fine for me. I used the web market, YMMV. FYI, I'm in U.S. on Criskelo v6.
Thanks for the heads up. You need a Windows Live ID to use it, but I do have some work shared One Note files that would be nice to use on the mobile. I find it a rather odd move for MS, considering that ( the built in office integration) would be the ONLY selling point I mention to my clients when they discuss purchasing a Windows 7 Phone...

Does not support sketching on notes.

Any feedback on its comparative analysis with Evernote?

Bah. The is really too little too late from MS. I'm still looking for that perfect cloud synced app. I use SMemo a lot, but also lose pages every now and again when I flash / crash / nandroid.

Doesn't even support viewing ink from the PC version of onenote. This happened with the office web apps when they first came out, but they eventually updated them to support the viewing of ink. Hopefully this will all come in time. I'm glad that Microsoft realized that android is a real platform that isn't going away and that they are putting some effort into development now. If they can make it usable enough such that I use my 500 note limit I will gladly pay the fee. For now it's their challenge to develop that usability.

I noticed this, not able to view files made on tablet pc. Probably 50% of my notes are in ink.

How do you highlight text and choose fonts, and seems very basic?

I agree . Very disappointed with what MS has come out with
missing so many features
- Does not show handwritten notes.
- Notes made only go to personal web folder and not in the folder that i make a new one
- Selecting fonts and stuff like that are missing
- cannot add files
- no handwritten notes possible.
and many many more.

"Yahoo Go! is the first application optimized for the “small screen” of a mobile phone that truly makes it easy and fun to access the Internet. Everything about the Yahoo! Go interface is designed to be both visually stunning and give you what you want with the fewest clicks possible.
At its core is the carousel, used to navigate intuitively among the various Yahoo! Go widgets: your own personal channels for email, local info & maps, news, sports, finance, entertainment, weather, Flickr™ photos and search. Simply use the carousel to scroll over to the widget you want. Since Yahoo! Go uses advanced caching and background loading technology, your widget content is automatically and continuously “pushed” to your phone, so it’s always right there when you want it. You don’t need to endure lengthy downloads or navigate loads of links to get to what you want."
Granted, on Windows Mobile devices we've had the capacity for years to do a LOT of things that this app presents as "revolutionary", but what is rather impressive is the way they've integrated it all together. Check out the demo and you'll see.
At this time, they list a total of 77 Windows Mobile devices on which Go should work (though many have a small balloon stating "coming soon!"). Unfortunately the XV6600 is not one of the devices on which it will work. Sad
Live Search, Google Maps, and now Yahoo Go! - gotta love the choices and the competition it breeds! We the consumer end up being the winner!

I used to use it a while back and it was fine... some people complained about it taking over their hotmail inbox on their devices but i chose not to sync mail.
2.0 is still not released on pocket pc so till then i can't give you a good answer (its been a since i've used 1.0)
I used version 1 for a while - until it decided it didn't wanna work anymore that is. Good app. I like the Calender and Contact link. I'll try V2 once it's released for WM in April.
its not released for most wm devices yet.
like someone said before the first beta kinda sucked. it took over your ppc. it asked you to upload pics to yahoo every time you snapped a pic. then it always asked to connect instead of doing it quietly in the backround. on top of that it had no stand alone messenger (everything is about money with these guys) and lastly it had the worst memory leak. everytime i tried it out for more than 2 days i had to hard reset my wizard. it didnt even have html mail.
the concept was great but they never delievered a good product. i hope this gamma release fixes all the problems. and if they cheat us out of a messenger then im going to have to scrap it again.
i must admit though, i am looking forward to the gamma. im curious. btw, any leaks of it yet????

I agree. I tried it out and had to uninstall it within an hour. I found it very frustrating to use, slow to respond and devoid of any useful error messages.

IMdb Mobile

Hello.
i looking for apps to add to my phone, and i really want an imdb mobile app.
After searching i have came to the conclusion that non exists (please correct me if im wrong).
i then found this site
Code:
http://nolanbrown.com/imdb
{

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
it redirects if you use IE , using chrome it appears to work.
after reading the about bit
"Since being released January 5, 2008, IMDb Mobile has been raved about as one of the best web applications available for the iPhone. It was voted a "Staff Pick" by Apple, made Apple's Most Popular page in Entertainment and in a mere 15 days, IMDb Mobile received more then 20,000 visitors."
it appears it was designed for iphone viewing and i guess the creator set it up to check for the browser and have a blacklist (it appears his blog not updated in some time, maybe chrome wasnt out when the he had the blacklist??? i dunno only guessing) so i assume changing the user agent on one of my mobile browser would make this site visible (unless anyone has a quicker solution).
i dont really want to change the user agent everytime so anyone know a imdb mobile app / quicker solution to use that site.
thank you for your time.
larry.
+1 for a IMDB Mobile App...would definitely be a nice app to have!
I would also like to get one...
Just as an alternative solution you can use the ebook-reader TomeRaider3, as they have the imdb database as a free download on their site (approx. 158mb) to read offline
Will give it a try...but I think an online app would be even better
Nevertheless thanks for your share!
Ascenca
i used to use it
i thought it was rather poor though, and if i remember correctly it is quite limited in what information it gives you.
the proper site works not too bad though.
Just downloaded this for my HD2 its an upgrade of a slightly older one and runs great once you go into the settings and assign a video player for the trailers to play on. In my case i navigated to windows/ windows media player

Android replacement for HandyShopper - AndShoBBer

I was one of many satisfied HandyShopper users. Chris Antos had made the perfect
shopping app for the PalmPilot, and I even went so far to that I bought a
Windows Mobile phone because Chris had ported HandyShopper to Windows Mobile.
But enough was enough. My next phone was to be an Android - but how could I
survive without HandyShopper? I couldn't, and I couldn't find an appropriate
substitute for Android - so I had to clone it myself.
AndshoBBer is the result - currently in beta. In some ways worse, in some ways
different but in many ways inspired by HandyShopper. I hope Chris Antos sees
this as a tribute, not a plagiarism.
You may download AndShoBBer from

good idea but not for me
My wife and I really need something that's able to import our massive HandyShopper lists. ToMarket's interface is a bit unpleasant for us, but until now it's been the only thing out there.
What an Android shopping list app, or indeed any modern shopping list app, needs is sync. I really need to be able to add something to our shopping list when I'm at work and have it show up in the app on my wife's phone when she goes to the market, or my son needs to be able to add milk to my shopping list after he's used it all up (again).
A nice touch is some sort of web interface so one doesn't have to type on a teensy keyboard.
I'll give this a try.
In principle I agree with your views on sync - but at the moment I am developing for my own pleasure, and with respect to "modern" this does not include my wife, so I have no personal need for sync, so unless I can do this in an easy way (or make lots of money )....
If you or anybody else has some good input on a library to use for web sync of Android SQLite bases please let me know - then I will look into it.
Anders
Thank you, andbb! I was devasted when I moved from an HTC Aria (WinMo 6.5) running Chris's HandyShpr. I am hoping your tribute to Chris comes anywhere close to his works, as I have been through a half-dozen disappointing shopping lists.
Again, thank you!
see also: OI shopping list
For those who might prefer a different approach, "OI Shopping List" (when combined with the "OI Convert CSV" plug-in) does a decent job with import of HandyShopper CSV files.
rShopping List
I used HandyShopper on the Palm for a very long time before switching to Android.
I couldn't find an Android app with the features of HandyShopper, so I wrote my own.
You might give my app rShopping List a try.
I sorely miss HandyShopper, as does my wife.
So why are we using a shopping list app that disappoints us each time we use it? Because it syncs.
These days I think syncing is a must-have feature for a shopping app. I need to be able to add something to our mutual shopping list when I use the last of it. My wife needs to be able to add something while I'm on the way to the store. This is so vital that we'll put up with an otherwise very disappointing program that manages lists in silly and useless ways.
I have yet to find an app with the utility of HandyShopper that syncs.
As I mentioned, OI Shopping List has many features that should appeal to HandyShopper users, including importing HandyShopper data. It doesn't currently sync, but there are some GSoC students working on sync this summer.

[APPS & Review] PDF "annotator" and viewer on the Note - MY solutions again! *g*

[APPS & Review] PDF "annotator" and viewer on the Note - MY solutions again! *g*
And again: Good evening folks!
This is some other “hey I have too much time, let´s post something on XDA” Stuff This chapter is about some good working PDF-Apps for our SGNotes!
I really don´t know if there is anybody out there reading a tons of PDFs & Ebooks as well (for university or going-so-sleep-reasons). Due to the size of my note and the ability to use it as an ebookreader as well, I was searching for Androids best PDF Apps (just for reading as well as for annotating stuff within PDF files).
And these are my results:
1.) Mantano Reader:
I LOVE the Mantano Reader! It is a bit expensive, but to me it´s definitely the very first choice when it comes to PDF and Ebook topics in Android. you can import nearly every filetype, it integrates them well into a nice looking databank where you can see how much percent of the book has already been read, it has a night mode (what saves battery pretty much), you can set up labels, you can highlight parts of the texts (and the highlighted parts are stored seperately & you are able to read only the highlighted parts of the text summed up
It is said that they are working on a newer version with backup & sync functions integrated...

2.) ezPDF Reader
This is a very good tool for working on PDF sheets...you can highlight texts, you can annotate them, make some comments or add some graphics. And the app always kindly asks you, if you want to make an annotated copy of the original file pretty helpful!
Market Link
3.) SmartDevices PDF Reader
This is an app that I´ve just downloaded a fes hours ago and it seems just to be available in the samsung apps market, 'cause I can´t find it in the android market yet. The app itself looks a bit confusing in the beginning (not the most beautiful one), but it seems to have the functions of both apps (mantano reader & ezPDF) included! I need some more time with it, but it´s really fun to work with the pen here!
External Review
4.) Go Books
What should I say? The GO Team is doing a good job in every sense...coming from the VTL.Launcher, I just switched to GO Launcher with my note, because it seems to be the most stable one with minimum lag. The Ebook Reader is a joy to handle and really looks cool! I need some more experience here as well, so just test it out for yourself!
Market Link
Aaaand...that´s it for now!
...and if you like what you´ve just read, feel free to use the "thanks" button...feels so nice when the counter grows^^
Thanks for the info on smartdevices PDF reader! It seems to be the one that suits me the best cause it has the margin reduction function~
Smatdevice looks good but any highlighted text is covered. Cant read that part
Can´t check it out myself atm, but...are you sure that you are using the correct tool?
OT: Hellyeah, 300 posts^^ *shrug*
ezpdf Galaxy Note support & palm rejection
Ezpdf added galaxy note S pen functionality and extra settings (palm rejection) to their update today
i just tried the palm rejection setting , and , it is the same as in the S memo app (with firmware update LC1)....
where it doesnt take any input on the screen but from the s pen when in edit mode....
it is quite good but there is no way for pinch to zoom nor to scroll up/down left/right unless u exit edit mode.....

[APP-PROJECT][4.4.X] HIVE APPS (Notebooks, Books, Drawings)

Hello, I don't really know if it's all right to post this kind of thread here but I haven't been able to find any other forum that seems like the proper place for my thread. I'd like to say sorry in advance if I have indeed posted in the wrong section.
Anyhow, me and a friend are working on a set of apps and a slightly modified android rom as our IT project this year. We are hoping to win a prize in the local competition which will be held here in Bosnia on 23rd of next month and then hopefully make our way to some international competitions.
I'd like to quickly go over our project.
HIVE OS is an "operating system" based on android for usage in school tablets. It contains some pre-installed applications such as: Notebooks, Books, Drawings... It synchronizes users' documents with the cloud allowing users to access their files from their personal phones, tablets, computers, etc...
As the competition draws closer we have started with writing academic papers such as the research paper. Some stats are required in a research paper. Some testing and data analysis. Thus, as a member of this forum I thought that I could get some interested people's opinions, let them test the apps and collect their feedback...
If you are interested in testing Notebooks, Books and Drawings apps and helping us with our data collection you can download attached apps and once you are done with your testing you can submit your feedback by filling the form over at feedback website.
Some points to keep in mind:
1 .We are 2 high school 3rd year guys. Our experience with android programming is pretty fresh. My friend only launched ADT for the first time as he began this project, whereas, I, even though I had launched it before hadn't been able to produce anything useful.
2. As these apps are intended for tablets, we didn't really put any special effort in trying to make them fit every screen (smaller screens). They should be fine on devices with screen similar to the one of the nexus 4 and higher...
3. Books app requires at least a single book to be present under /HIVE/Books in your sdcard. Otherwise, it will look empty. This is because these apps are supposed to receive their material by means of synchronization. I'll be attaching a zip file (Introduction to Trigonometry.zip) to extract there but if you end up having problems and can't make the app show a book, please skip books app in the feedback form. Thank you for your understanding.
Another note is that we hope you'll go easy on us. As I already mentioned, we are pretty new into android development. The data collected from the forms are going to be used in the academic side of things. Those who know will probably understand... It won't hurt if you give a 4 where you actually think it deserves a 3. We don't want to have graphs which will make it look like our apps suck.
Of course, this doesn't mean that you should go with all 5s. Fill the forms the way you think, but we'd be happy if you didn't give a lot of 1s and 2s...
Thank you for your understanding on this as well.
