Can anyone tell me why when running the Rooted Stock GB ROM SetCpu does not allow for over 1.2Ghz? Is it because of my Kernel version not allowing it?
Thanks.
try Milestone Overclock

and try a governor
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10911-co...e-interactivex-and-smartass-v2-cpu-governors/
I wouldn't use milestone overclock. There is a chance of brick. Use quickclock advanced from the market.

Is there no odds of bricking with this?
Don;t want to buy apps that A) won't get me actually over clocked and b) are going to kill the phone
THanks.
Milestone overclock can brick your phone. But quickclock cannot if you follow the instructions exactly.

read the link I post on milestone overclock, these's a free download
quickclock can auto find how high you can overclock, takes sometime to calibrate

Is it safe to use this app to root my phone. I don't want to use the lag fix, just the root and unroot tools.

Yes, although it is just easier to use the one click method and have the latest custom kernal from noob, and you get 8.2 MFLOPS.
Oh, and don't try to install the lag fix because the partitions to ext are different, and there is no reason too.
EDIT: Also you should change the title to One Click Lag Fix- Root Method? because I believe there is already a thread named similar to this one.
i get 8.2 stock...

Same here. If anything, high 7's at worst.

could you take off the palm boot screen and put the actual linux boot log (actual dmesg log (kernel debug messages))?
Yes, there is one possible, one of the kernels make it possible, I don't remember which, but I'll make you know when I know.

the one in preware was a F104a kernel but there was only one and it didnt change the boot screen do i have to do something? and is there a way to change the kernel but not overclock it?
You can always set clock speed to palm default(500 mHz) using govnah. The F104A for me did show Linux boot logs as is. I could try again another time. I pit uberkernel na k on the pre plus I have. Using as a WiFi only pda/game device for my daughter ATM.

So I'm running Heinz 57 6/22 release, with OTB kernel 1.6 and my voltage control app settings are not saving through a reboot.
I've tried clearing app data and re installing the app.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
We had this issue with 1.6 when it first came out. Try appling for now. Then go back in and apply to boot three of four times and see if that works. That's what I had to do to get it to work. If that doesn't get it then might be a different issue

Have you tried tegrak?

No, always used Voltage Control.. is there another version of OTB TW kernel out?

I just looked again, I only saw 1.6 as the newest version, is there a older version that works better?

The OP has at least 3 different versions linked.
I'm running tegrak ultimate on my phone and it's running just fine. In fact better than voltage control. I tried both.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
you might try wiping voltage settings in recovery and redoing the boot saving in voltage control, also i use the voltages posted in the heinz forum post with bfq scheduling and conservative...I am experiencing amazing battery life...like 3 days or more depending on how much i talk...very nice

what tegrak settings you using?
To the op. Nem said 1.6 would probably be the last froyo based kernel he does for otb sadly .
I want to root only so I can leave everything the same except use SetCPU to underclock to save battery. Do I need to install a custom rom or kernel to do that? Or can the stock set up rooted be underclocked?
Thanks.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
You need a kernel that supports changing the clock speed. You dont have to run a custom rom but youll need a supported kernel
Any one you can recommend? I'm new to the skyrocket coming from Verizon HTC Thunderbolt.

I've never even heard of people underclocking (well I am a noob) not that I think its a bad idea just new to me....hey silver or OP if I root and really just want to overclock and use tethering keeping it stock rooted is good? Really wondering if I should wait for the OTA ICS update then root

I can't get my max to stick at 1.7ghz. When I try to it'll go back to 1.5 and even 1.1 at times. How can I get it to stick?
On Vengeance V3 ROM w/ LK 1.8, I've checked terminal and I have a 'fast' CPU.

I did this along w/ a reset so that I could undervolt as well....followed by a reset of course. Should I try to do it again?
Thank you for the quick reply.

Does your rom have LeanKernel file in System/etc/init.d/
Try downloading/updating your Busy box from the Play Store.

Hmm....That I'm not sure of. I'll go and check and get back w/ yall as soon as I can!
Ok, so i checked the int folder and it does have "00leanKernel" inside says:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
VMIN=0
echo $VMIN > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/override_vmin
As for busybox....I"m not sure if that is on this ROM or not. If not should I install it? I found a BusyBox app on the play store that says its supposed to install busy box. Jus don't wanna mess up anything lol.

I did that, Normal Install. Reset. Atm it still looks like its hopping around. Generally staying at 1512 but also going as low as 1134 like before. Govenor/ ondemand, scheduler/row
Maybe the kernel still hasn't settled yet? I've had it installed for the last several days.

Aight, which kernel app are you using? It should only act somewhat iffy for about ten minutes after the initial kernel flash not a couple days. Also, is the phone hot while you're trying to adjust the OC?

I'm using SetCPU. Min set to 384. Right I would've thought it would've settled by now. Generally really w/ most kernels I've installed they've all had a tendency to jump up in heat kinda quickly. So yes it does generally get hot even while adjusting OC.
Yea, maintaining OC can be somewhat tricky depending on the heat produced. Does this continue to occur when you select "set at boot" option for the CPU?

Yes. I've checked it after a couple of resets and it just doesn't wanna hold. Resets to 1512.
