Sunglobal 1850mAh - HTC Sensation

I bought this battery http://www.sunglobal.com.my/enlarge.asp?id=93 from sunglobal for RM60 equivalent to 16usd... so far the battery performance is quite good... on a normal day i could get up till 15 hours on data and around 25 hours without data... the problem in my country is when u turn on data in my country it keeps changing from 3g and HSDPA so that really takes a lot out of the battery but still it is much better then the stock battery...

i get the same thing too..anyway i feel ICS rom does perform better in terms of battery performance.. wonder how is sunglobal when compare to anker..i never used anker before..
anyway..the attachment show my best so far..

wow that's really good... i will never be able to do that with the data on... but with the data off i think i might probably get there...

The switching between "3G" and "H" is normal. When idle it's 3G then switches to H when in use.
Phil

Yea..I didn't turn on data.. I think we are pretty much in line in terms of battery performance..anyway I'm still looking around for other battery..mugen seems very good but expensive..lol

But still if you are moving with the data on at certain places its 3G and at certain places its Hsdpa so this i think uses a lot of the battery... i have tested this battery without turning on the data and it will last for around 30-36 hours on moderate usage... i think in your country there hsdpa connection is more stable so thats why you dont have this problem... in my country they are still using cheap radio towers in a lot of places so thats why we malaysian still have this prob.. cant blame the batt though.. the problem is the phone sometimes tries its best to find this hsdpa connection so thats why it uses a lot of the batt life...

Battery
See I love the fact they have extended batteries...but the problem with those is when u get the battery it is almost impossible to find a protective case that will fit and give good protection for your phone against drops

so far i have dropped my phone more than 10 times.... Until now i have yet to find any scratches on my phone... maybe i am just lucky or maybe the phone is tough... so my point is you really do not need a case for protecting your phone but if you want extra protection then go for it... The third time i dropped my iphone 3gs the screen cracked.. so sensation is i think tougher then many phones in the market because of its built.. no harm in giving it extra protection but its just like putting airbags in cars which have seatbelts only....

Did you tested to see if it is 1850 mAh or not? Also the site posted listed the price at 89.90 MYR which is about $29.50 USD. Where did you get it for $16?

does the battery temp work ?
how is this battery compare to anker ?
thanks

Touch Pro 2 battery In DZ

Hey All,
Today I decided to look into a larger capacity battery for my DZ NAM, and I took a look at my old Touch Pro 2...
The Battery fits quite well, its 1500mAh as opposed to the 1300 with the DZ.
I had to trim out the plastic on the TP2 battery, and then place it in upside down.
The cover pops up slightly after the battery is in, nothing that would bother you lots, in other words its not as flush as the original DZ battery.
I am going to use it to swap out between my 2 batteries.
Hope this helps, not bad for a free battery in my case
Great news !!
I have also a BA-S390 from my old Touch Pro 2... I'll try this tonight !
When you charge the battery inside the phone is it getting hotter or colder than the original DZ battery ?
I just got 2.5 days out of my stock Z battery and still had 60% left (granted didn't use it much).
I left my charger at work, and had a snow day yesterday.
I don't know what all the fuss about battery life is about.

Len,
To get 2.5 days out of a smartphone you must firstly not be overclocking at all, and secondly you must not have used it one bit.
2.5 days = total non usage
Even the iphone4 with its powersaving a4 chip does not get 2.5 days, unless you dont touch the beast.
And i like to generally use my phone

Actually I am overclocked to 1.4ghz and underclocked for screen off.
You are right, I hardly touched the phone at all, I did need it as an alarm twice in the time I was without a charger. (I was forced into this situation by leaving my charger at work)
But it shows that with no use the phone only loses 1% a day.
I generally lose about 2-4 percent an hour not in use. But my phone is sync'ed up to everything, lol

Mine was down at 30% after exactly 48 hours.
Which is great, cause I did use it. Played Angry birds, sent sms and made a phonecall.

Who said anything about fuss?
I was pointing out that the TP2 battery works, and is larger capacity... I have a ton of reasons to have a second battery and would rather not spend an extra $40.
I travel lots... and I use my phone to watch tv on the plan.
Not sure about how hot the battery gets on charge, haven't used it much yet.
As for the original I get 2 days with moderate use.

that comment wasn't aimed at you
Just that there have been lots of complaints about battery life on this phone (and the desire HD)...those people obviously never had a Desire as the battery life on the Z and HD are loads better than the desire ever was.
agreed, I find the stock battery tollerable on my DZ
@Blesseld: i also have a tp2 battery lying around, so if you happen to charge it, i would be really thankful for any reports about the charging behavior...

I have descended from tp2pro aswell, and must admit that I have used my old tp2 battery from the second day I had a DZ. I must admit I have 'trimmed' it so that it doesn't cause any bulge on the metal flap covering the batt compartment, and I can say that even though the old batt is 6 months old it performs well enough to get me through the whole working day. I do make a lot of calls a day, I keep I-net connection constantly on, and I never switch Bluetooth off....
I realize its a heavy load on the battery but afterall I got the fone to do its job (calls, emails, driving, gps, etc).
The battery lasts well into from 8am to 7pm (with my heavy usage) but must say that whenever I'm driving I will have fone charging, regardless of its power level.
Nevertheless, I have a spare battery at hand ( original DZ one) should the worst happen.
FYI, my daily batt stats is usually as follows: display 30percent, voice calls 35 percent, and remaining 35 percent spread somewhat evenly amongst remaining series that have to run in the background.
Unfortunately though, I haven't got enough experience with the original DZ battery, to give you a comparison.... remember I used it only for a day or two, when I was still getting used to the whole new world of android and DZ

Does anyone have experience with the 1800mAh Mugen battery from the TP2 in the DZ? I'm tempted to go for that assuming it fits...?

[Q] wifi death grip issue, how serious is it?

I am looking to buy a used htc sensation. But I have read about this wifi death grip issue on the internet. I want to know from actual users how serious is it. Does the signal drop totally or does it just weakens?
Another query is about the battery. Is it really poor? Can we go 1 day with moderate use of the phone? Or do we need to charge 2-3 times a day?
Look bro, i even bought a used sensee, i can confirm that those after july pieces are free from any defect...especially wifi or any other signal drop issue...
Buy an anker battery 1900 mAh for 16$ at amazon...u will never feel any probs with battery life and Smartphones need more battery than normal cheapy fones

I've only had mine a month now but I haven't noticed it at all and I play a lot of games with the phone turned sideways.
i got my sensation in the 1st week of release and it has the deathgrip and its a pain in the arse
Got my Senny at the "pre-release" (thanks wally mart) and there is no 'death grip' on mine either. I play a lot of games and stream netflix all the time via wifi so no loss of signal for me.
No death grip and my battery lasts over a day with moderate use, using a Mugen 1950 battery.

Ahhh that good old long Walmart thread we had going....
My "pre-release" Walmart one had the death grip issue as does my unit I bought on T-Mobile release day.
I have noticed with different wifi routers that better routers don't show the death grip issue. Makes sense with a better signal. Some people probably never notice any death grip problem because they have a decent or better router, or are always close to it, etc.
Yea, it depends on your router. At home I don't get deathgrip with the crappy 2wire AT&T provides with their uverse. But at my brother's house, he has an old school linksys and I get deathgrip two rooms away. At work, we have a way old router that I don't even know the name of and I can get deathgrip sitting right next to it lol.

1. so-called deathgrip:
If I try really hard to cover up that antenna I can get the signal to drop from -25dBm to -50dBm or from -50dBm to -70dBm. That means I have to wrap my two large hands around the exact sport of the corresponding antenna. I only notice this because I use a wifi analyzer.
Any normal way of holding it without noticeable effect.
2.battery:
It is on par with other smartphone batteries. I'm a mobile phone user for more than 17 years, over 20 models, over 5 operating systems, and current smartphone life cycle still sucks. I currently own and use 3 smartphones. With the correct choice of radio, ROM and setting they all survive 24h+ of normal usage.
If you buy an extended battery that can double.
My Sensation XE with the standard battery on ICS with the ICS firmware runs for 43h+ on average. Today I will have 'survived' for 68 hours without recharging but due to the festivities I have made hardly any phonecalls and had little or no mailtraffic ... so this is exceptional.
cheers

You are probably right. I have a repeater in the living room where the router is in the bedroom. I get full bars and also tick off the best wifi (supposed to consume more power) as well.
And yessss that old LONG a$$ thread. That was a epic one lol....Good times

No bro, some sensations are really free from this issue-
My sensation can catch wifi signals from around 15~20 metres while my friend's blackberry fails to do...

I hardly notice it !!
Mine definitely has the death grip problem, signal drops drastically if my hand gets anywhere near above middle of the phone..
Ok, so that means a few users do get the wifi problem while most users dont. Lets see what my experience is. Will report back after I get the phone. Thanks for all your replies. Cheers!
The death grip only occurs when you hold top of your phone and it happens when you are using YouTube but if you hold it from bottom of the screen than you won't get any death grip issue.
As for battery the battery life is crap my battery last for 2-3 hours of full charge so from 100 to 5 percent goes down in 2-3 hours
Only thing that drains the battery is brightness because on 50 percent battery and WiFi on the battery will last 3 hours. But if your brightness is higger than 50 percent then battery will die in 2 hours. The reason my battery don't last long is because when I use my phone I leave my brightness around 70% with WiFi on and I use YouTube app and 3 overs of usage will kill the battery.

Rarely notice it unless I purposely cover the whole upper back area of the phone.
However, if you plan to get a phone casing then try to test it first.
I'm using this "Mercury" casing for the phone and it definitely strangles the WiFi signal.
With the 10.59 radio I used to get it when I just touched the back of the sensation... But with the new, leaked it just happens when I touch the WiFi antenna mount... Just above the camera xD

Well, after using the phone for about a week I can say that if I am in the same room as the router then I don't have death grip issues. But when I am in another room and I hold the phone horizontally the wifi signal strength definitely drops.
As far as battery life is concerned light usage it lasts for more than 12 hrs but on heavy use the battery goes in less than 8 hrs.

I never had any deathgrip or signal drop issues since I got my sensation from 3uk last September I tried all those things people describe around the web ,maybe a proportion of the early sensations have those defects/issues and HTC fixed them after the frustrated owners complained .

Need some personal input :)

Hey guys! I might be getting this phone, need some input from first person users!
Firstly, i can get one of these for approx 300-400 and its about the same price as what a lot of people are asking for the Samsung Galaxy S 2 (SGH-T989) i find this to be rediculous. Every review ive read/watched raved about the One S. Well i want some personal input i personally think its worth buying the one S at that price then the SGS2 at the same price. But i have a couple concerns with HTC......
Ive had two HTC phones
HTC Touch Pro 2 (RhodiumW)
HTC HD2
And the HD2 gets HORRIBLE service where my TP2 got plenty of service both on T-Mobile..
So im hoping its just my HD2 and not HTC's in general. However i have had someone with the HD7 say he loses service when holding the device. I know the HD2 and HD7 both have the antenneas in the bottom of the device. (Dumb if you ask me) hows the HTC One S with this situation? Does it still get great service while holding it? Like my HD2 could have full bars, but if i begin to use it it goes to NO service -.-
Thanks all for your input!
The One S of a great device, great build quality, nice feel in the hand, excellent camera, but I had several issues that led me to switch to my current GS3. With my time with the One S, I encountered random signal loss, & poor battery life. I would use the data network & it would drop from full bars to none then climb to 2 then back full. As for battery life I would get 2 & half hours of screen on time. What I disliked the most the pitiful 9.93GB of storage. & that is my two cents.

Well the signal loss seems due to software not hardware (A plus for me) and i dont think any phone will get decent battery life without an extended battery. lI dont judge phones by battery life anymore. lol. My HD2 has a 1250 Mah battery xD

My GS3 has solid signal, & it's 2100 mah battery runs great all day if you don't mind the limited space and "decent" battery life then go for it, it is the slimmest of phones I've owned plus it has a sweet camera

Is it me or is a long battery life/good reception a thing of the past?

I remember a day when phone batteries lasted almost a week and service was everywhere. There were no 4g networks but calls still came in crisp and clear. Why is it now phone manufacturers make these huge screens more advanced processors and skip over the important things that make a phone a phone. It might have looked funny with an antenna coming out of it but my old verizon lg flip phone had service everywhere! Now i cant even hold my phone in my hand without giving it the "death grip" honestly i think engineers really failed seeing as you cant even hold a smartphone in your hand without a noticeable drop in connectivity.

I agree with the battery bit, but honestly, did we even use phones as much as we do now back then? Think about how much you use your phone, then and now.
I can't sympathize with the reception thing. What part of the world do you live in? I always get good reception wherever I am. (Excluding one time in an area where my service just disappeared for no reason.)
I'm probably looking at it wrong and I accept that but the way I see it, it's up to the user how long the smart phone will last.
Use 75% brightness, you moan. Use 30%, magic improvements etc etc. Smartphones have gotten to the point where they are essentially pocket PCs that use all kinds of resources.
One user can report good battery life, another the opposite.
Tl;dr - It's probably your fault. Carry a battery
I feel that my Droid 3 is just as good if not a bit better than my old feature phone on Verizon and I'm in a rural area. But I've heard Motorola makes good radios for their phones, at least they can do one thing right. For years cell phones have been using internal fractal antennas, and there was even a time manufacturers put a fake antenna stub on their phones just to please customers. I used to have an old LG flip phone with a 1" antenna stub on it that you could unscrew and it didn't change reception at all, proving it was a fake. Phones do a lot more today and are as powerful as desktop computers were not too long ago. Part of the sacrifice of having a smartphone is worse battery life. I imagine someday batteries will catch up, look how far lithium batteries have come compared to the old nickel batteries in the 90s.
My note 2 gets about 12 hrs on a full charge and that's with considerable internet usage
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
i get wildly varying battery life. it is especially bad when im traveling. i think bad battery life is here to stay.
For actually making phone calls, my reception and call quality is the same as it's always been. With use of calls over wifi, the quality is actually generally better.
I don't notice any difference in connectivity when holding my phone. Hell, I have metal bumpers on it and it's not a noticeable difference.
I don't expect the same battery life from a device that is looked at only a few times a day compared to something I can use the internet, games, et cetera on - one that is accessing mobile data on a periodic basis. There's a lot you can do to control wakelocks and such for better battery life, too.
I understand all the points listed here. I dont expect to get the same battery life on a phone used frequently over a phone checked a few times aday. I actually do pretty good on my htc one S. At first i was having problems with the phone getting super hot when i wake up in the morning while it was on the charger. Eventually i rooted it and threw a custom rom on there and just recently i flashed an oced kernel and did some reading up on cpu governors. long story short i get an oc from 1500 mhz to 2100 mhz and im also seeing improved battery life. switching to the old radio got me better connectivity. I think im one of the people who dont really care about the aesthetics of the phone and wouldent mind one being a bit thicker for improved battery life. Im actually hearing good things about the droid razor max some reports of the battery lasting up to 3 days on a single charge so maby some of my points were more device spesific. Usually where i want to have connectivity i get very little. At work theres concrete walls so its definitly not an optimal area for transmitting and receiving information. And i suppose battery technology has come a very very long way i would just like to see more manufacturers stressing screen time and connectivity
I thought maybe once all phones cracked the 300ppi barrier we would see a slowing down the screen arms race and see some marked improvement in battery life. But with the release of several 1080 phones, I feel that isn't going to happen.
Reception I feel has gotten better where I am, Australia.

I've been using one here in India from the beginning August now. Its a good alternative to the M8 if you have a tight budget. I have no qualms about getting this phone, it's performance is at par with the M8 and definitely better than Z2, S5 and note 3, all of which my friends have. The 13mp camera does its job well, excellent shots in daylight, decent everywhere else. Apart from the different camera, a polycarbonate shell and a few other quirks, it's basically a M8.
From the above mentioned time, I've NEVER faced any lag. If anything, my phone performed on par, even even better at places, with a friends iPhone 6. The dot view cover is a good addition as an accessory.
If it's a dual SIM high end smartphone you're looking for, you can't go wrong with the E8. If you want to know anything in particular, feel free to ask.

1. Charges in around 2 hours with the charger provided with the box. Maybe lesser, I'm not sure because I charge overnight. But it's mostly a percent a minute. You can get better times by getting the 1.5A output charger.
2. GSam Battery Monitor shows :
Battery Life : 1d 13h
Screen On : 5h 30m
Basically easily lasts a day. Averages around 5-6h screen on time. And I have my sync on, use social networks vehemently, although I keep the battery saver on always (just the underclocking cpu option), except gaming.

I've heard from many people that one shouldn't charge overnight (basically it shouldnt be overcharged) and that it decreases the life of the battery ? What's your opinion on that please ; as i used to do that, but now stopped charging overnight as it keeps charging the battery even when it is full.....

From whatever knowledge I have of the batteries, they stop charging once they are fully charged. So there is no way they get "overcharged". As and when the battery drops a little, it again charges back itself. Which barely happens, because my phone loses only about 1-2% battery overnight if left idle.
Ideally, this view suggests that this won't have any impact on the overall life of the battery. I did the same with my One S for about 1 and a half years. It didn't show any signs of reduced battery life then.
Yes, different people do have different views on this topic, but I like to stick to my idea.
Hi, I also wanted to ask a question if you have the dual sim version. When using 3g or 4g data connection on sim1 can you use sim2 to either call or send sms?
Thanks
The only problem with E8 is less Custom ROMs . I haven't got any better custom ROM other than Bin Droid, less customisation but better than nothing. At least Bin Droid is providing 4.4.4 and HTC Eye and more colored themes

I absolutely agree. The only problem with this (awesome) phone is the lack of developer support. even on Xda, I can only found custom rom for the dual sim version. Mine is the single sim. :crying:
Otherwise. It's really a good phone. There are some times that makes me (kinda) envy M8, like the metal body, the infrared blaster, and especially the customization. Anyway.. we just have to wait and see about the lollipop update. if they filled their promise to update < 3 months, I'm a happy dude.

Hi, I also wanted to ask a question if you have the dual sim version. When using 3g or 4g data connection on sim1 can you use sim2 to either call or send sms?
Thanks

Yes, you can use it for call or sending sms; Also you can use 2g network for browsing from SIM 2
I have a question to the users oft a single sim Version: does it support rSAP (sim access profile) in Bluetooth?
