Hi,
So i dropped my samsung infuse 4g, screen cracked, starting from the bottom right corner and spreading. Screen works perfectly except here and there i get splinters from the glass.
My first question is, since my samsung infuse 4g is from Rogers CANADA, will i be able to replace the screen with an AT&T one?
And second, where can i find the replacement? I've done searched the forums but those links lead me to out of stock quantity.

don't get it from xcrater. they f-d me. they wanted to make a negotiation about replacing a defective product and asked me to cancel the PayPal dispute. a bunch of crooked scam artists in China who don't give a f because I can't do anything about it.
they sent the thing 6000 mile wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap (not the anti static kind either, just plain plastic) loosely in a cardboard box. can I say static electricity? and didn't even notify me it had been shipped. I was about to open a dispute that it didn't arrive when it showed. I was pissed about the shipping installed it and the corner of the screen is dark. opened the dispute but it still hasn't been handled, they stopped answering my emails.

I searched the forums and google and couldn't find an image similar to what is happening to my fuze.
So yesterday I noticed a problem with my fuze screen, and i don't know if i can't explain the problem or what, but at&t is convinced it's damaged and will charge me a bunch if i even try to send it in.
There are no cracks, scratches, whatever. (I wish i could take a pic, but the only cam i have is the phone)
The problem is that the surface of the screen (I think the soft touch screen top) seems to have a thin layer of 'something' in there. It is the same shape as the screen, centered, and about 70% of the screen's size. The effect is something like the shimmer/rainbow from a very thin layer of oil on water. (thin film interference?) Anyways, the touch screen still works, the lcd still works, the glass isn't cracked, and I have no idea what happened. I use a screen protector and am very protective of my baby.
I'm thinking I need to order a new digitizer and replace that? ($25 and some labor doesn't sound bad after talking to AT&T about what i would get charged if they decide it's physical damage)
I dunno, if anyone has experience with damage like this or at&t or replacing digitizers and has any words to help me, either with explaining what happened or what i should do, that would be much appreciated.
I had the EXACT same problem on my fuze. It looked like the layers of the screen began to seperate. AT&T scared me that they would charge me for this so I sent it directly to HTC and they replaced the screen at no cost to me...took about 2 weeks.
AT&T Warranty agents are trained to be cautious in regards to damage to devices as the mail program doesn't leave much(any) option once you send the phone back for the exchange. It's either no-damage/no-charge or damage/charged, after which you cannot go back on the exchange.
My advice is to see if there is a Device Support Center in your area.

I went to one with my possibly damaged Fuze and they took a look at it and exchanged it without any "possible" charges jargon.
If that isn't an option, you could buy a pre-paid phone to use while you send it in to HTC as TheSopranos16 did for repair.

i have this same exact problem. its technically called a newton ring. att wanted $500 to fix it and the htc rep told me that whenever they encounter this they usualy dont cover under warenty because it is due to pressure on the screen and it would cost something like $300 to fix. so i basically said forget it and now im stuck with it.

What make the situation worse is Rogers just sent me out a replacement phone yesterday and I have to send this one back, in the next couple days.
So I called a repair centre and they wanted $190 to repair the phone, and stated they would need to replace the LCD and the glass screen. I know there is nothing wrong with the LCD screen, phone functions and all colours are good, just has broken glass.
My question is, can I repair just the glass without replacing the LCD? I have found the screen for around $30 on ebay. Based on watching the how to on youtube it doesn't look like too difficult of a job.

Where are you from and how fast can you get the replacements off ebay ?
When you get them it'll take about half an hour to fix it.
Nobody will notice unless there's damage to the LCD.
If it has we'll have to change it too.

Ok so I have managed to remove the broken screen, it was actually fairly easy my only concern is the part show at the 7:00 minute mark of the video below, was broken when I removed it. The copper tape strip (or whatever it is) is still in tact. Where can I purchase this part? I still have all the pieces and if worst comes to worst I will attempt to very carefully assemble the phone with the broken parts to see if the phone still functions. I'm assuming this is part of what operates the home, search, back and menu buttons.
I have already removed the glue and am going to pick up a new screen from London shortly. I had some adhesive remover and work in a glass shop so I have all the tools and cleaners to ensure my new screen sticks and fits nicely.
After reading the thread you linked I am wondering if the screen they sell in London will will include the outside casing, this would solve all of my problems. I guess I will know soon enough, heading to London now. I will let you guys know how I made out.
Heey if you look on youtube you find couple of videos its not very difficult i did it with a friend of my it takes 20 minutes be carful ^^

You can make do without a front case if you know what you're doing. I lacked equipment so i used alternative methods like shoe glue or blowdryer (which killed the original digitizer)...
No matter what you do they'll recognize if you don't buy it with a front casing though... (Already glued preferably)
I found it in turkey so i don't think you can't find it in london , resources are vast there...
Look around.
Remove the digitizer and check the lcd before heading to london if need be buy it as well.

Ok so I got the new screen installed and everything is working great. I purchased some 3m adhesive at the repair shop which made for a very clean replacement after removing all the old glue with some adhesive remover. Decided to grab a LCD for my brothers LG970 while I was there and repaired it as well.
New phone arrived yesterday evening, so I will be sending this one back this afternoon. The screen replacement is very clean so I'm not concerned about that but I did manage to lose the little speaker cover from the front of the phone, I just plan on telling Rogers it fell of at some point if they ask about it. Considering the phone is in working order with no physical damage besides wear and tear I don't expect an issue from Rogers.
By the way anyone want to purchase the brand new Optimus3d Rogers sent me? Not even taking this one out of the box, selling it and getting the as far away from LG phones as I can.

In Turkey it's illegal to buy phones from foreign countries but it's not if you buy not working parts.

So I'm looking for some general advice. One of my friends from works daughters broke her ipod touch screen and I told her I would replace it as long as she payed for all of the parts. The adhesive the screen came with was complete crap so I bought the proper 3M adhesive.
The problem is no matter what I do the darn screen won't stay down. I had it sitting under 20lbs of books for 2 days and it still pops up and doesn't come flush with the frame.
Does anybody have any general advice for me to try? I have one more set of the adhesives for the ipod so this is my last chance and I want to make sure I get it right. To be more specific the top and bottom are normally fine because that's where the adhesive is, there's none on the side as there wasn't any stock either. But then a few days later the top starts to pop off and I have no idea why.
Back to store?
Perhaps you can take it back to Apple and they will replace it for a fee? Saves the DIY costs? I think they do it for iPhones.

They do that if you bought it during like the last year, otherwise it's $100, and I already started but am stuck on how to get the screen to stay sticking
I am Samsung type of guy and I know that they offer 2 year warranty in the UK. Perhaps you should just test the water and try and blag a freebie! Best of luck getting the screen fixed!
See the main problem about actually going to the store is it's not the original screen, it's been opened and chagned. It's in void of the warranty
Ok, it was inevitable I have a nasty scratch on my beloved Fire. Before anyone says pitch it buy another, I'm in Canada and it turns into $80+ Canadian to get one of these up here. I was wondering does anyone have a source for the screens for these yet? I COULD live with the scratch but it will always taunt me, laugh at me while I sleep....

Hey man I've been looking around on the internet to see if I could find what you were looking for but with all the searching I've done I didn't find a single screen replacement (US).
This is most likely for two reasons:
1. Only amazon's warehouse (where the tablets are made, not actual asset warehouse) has them.
2. The screen would be a fraction of the cost of a tablet so people don't bother to sell them since the tablet is already cheap ($50 US).
Now some possible solutions you could try is see if anyone is selling a broken fire tablet; software wise, speaker, etc., on (Insert Local Selling Site Here That Starts With " C "), or you could try buying the tablets again but instead of getting ONE tablet, get TWO - FIVE OR snag the SIX tablet deal IF IT'S STILL UP ($250 US W/ Prime = ~$355-$400 CD W/ Shipping ). Then like this you could have backups or resell/gift the others if you don't need them.

Depending on the severity of the scratch, you might try using one of those screen protectors where you have to put some soapy water on the screen side before applying it, then use a credit card to "squeegee" the excess water out from under the protector. Assuming that some residual moisture will remain in the scratch, that may minimize the appearance of the scratch, similar to how you can repair and hide windshield cracks by forcing clear resin into them. For that matter, it might be worth actually trying a windshield repair kit, dabbing some resin onto the crack, placing one of those curing strips over it, and leaving it in direct sunlight for a few hours.
Either option would be just a few dollars to try and if they don't work, you can just remove them, no harm done.
Scratched screen
First let me say that I have replaced broken touch screens on tablets. It's not an easy job.
The touch glass on this fire is glued to the display and so for the $50 price of a new tablet is not practicle to replace.
I would try this:
Get a small tube of CLEAR 100% silicone sealent and fill the scratch with just barely enough to be pefectly smooth.
Then install a 9H Hardness Glass screen protector that is available from Amazom for about $12
It will protect your screen from future accidents and make the scratch almost if not completely invisible..
A $50 tablet has to cut costs somewhere, but I'm still a bit annoyed that Gorilla Glass and oleophobic coating were two things that went. Sigh....
But to answer your question, I'd say either a screen protector or just live with it. If my $600+ phone got scratched I'd be freaking out, but my $50 Fire? Not so much.
You could always brick it, then send it back for warranty exchange.

Just wanted to follow up regarding my cracked screen from the drop from my pocket to the linoleum laundry room floor. Phone was sent in to LG for diagnosis and they showed great service by quickly responding back (4 days from sending the phone from Idaho to Texas). Unfortunately I don't think they did too much analysis as their diagnosis was a canned response that said "the malfunction was caused by physical damage or water/liquid damage which is not covered under warranty."
It wasn't a malfunction. I dropped it from pocket level and the screen splintered. From all of the advertising and 3rd party drop test videos I've seen, when properly built the phone withstands WAY more than one 3 foot drop. But whatever. I acknowledge it was my butterfingers that made the drop.
At any rate, my dilemma is do I pay the $146/$153 for the repair/repair and refurbish charge or do I DIY with the digitizer I ordered from a 3rd party? I know going forward that unfortunately this will be the last LG I own. With so many other options from Moto, Samsung, Sony, Huawei, etc companies need to own their advertising if they want my cheddar.
Anyone have any experience with aftermarket parts? I don't want to have a mutt phone that has functionality issues.

Just wanted to say that, Samsung, and Motorola are the same way. Prior to buying this phone, my nexus6 was lying, in an Otterbox, with a tempered glass screen protector, on my truck console. I called my wife on my way home, screen was fine, set it down, drove about four miles, picked it up when I got home and the screen was split with one crack, from the top left to the bottom right corner... Nothing touched it the whole way home, and with the Otterbox, the screen doesn't touch the padded console lid anyway. Needless to say, t-mobile's insurance company, Assurant, is worthless... 12 dollars a month for insurance, and 175 to have it fixed. Called Motorola, they'll fix it for the exact same price...? So needless to say, bought my v10 so I have a phone till I fix the nex myself, dropped all the insurance, on all my plans, (4 lines $48 less a month) and covered them for $20 a month on square trade, with a he'll of a lot cheaper deductible. Sorry for the long winded response, but until a manufacturer can guarantee screens won't break (new moto?) all companies will treat you like this...

That's insane. See as business owner, I completely get and understand company policies. But I also understand that inevitably there are exceptions to the policies. Like when you drive home with your phone in an otter box in your console only to find the screen cracked. Or when you have a "military grade drop test" phone that falls 3 feet and splinters the screen like in my case. Clearly my device wasn't built with the same standards or tolerances as those shown in all the drop test videos, so as an exception, step up and fix the device. When we make 250 sandwiches and one person calls in and data the bread was a little dry, I'm refunding him and buying his next meal no questions asked. I don't care if nobody else complained about the bread, you take care of the exception.
I get that mobile devices aren't sandwiches, but the principle holds true. But I guess if every company is doing the same thing, nobody needs to step up.

I think the problem is that there's no way to prove that he dropped that phone only from a couple of feet or that he had a heavy duty case on it.
If companies were replacing screens under warranty every time someone broke their, they'd be out of business.
I had bought a warranty for 70 bucks through Sony for my z3 phone and had it replaced when the screen cracked. Wish LG offered a similar warranty for this phone.

I agree entirely with your premise, despite the fact that I believe that most people are honest and don't try and unnecessarily hose companies. However, in my case, what's the point in them "examining" the device to determine if it's a defect or was caused by me if they really don't even look? My V10 was less than a week old and didn't have even the slightest nick or flaw anywhere on the phone or around the edges. I feel like if they truly inspected it they could actually be able to determine if it was caused by the actual drop, excessive dropping, OR a build quality/construction problem. Given that mine looks brand new apart from the splintered screen maybe they conclude that it's a build issue. Maybe someone else sends in theirs and there are scratches, dings, and nicks around the outside and they conclude that the phone was probably dropped multiple times. Am I making sense?
Yeah, in the past just did a monthly warranty extension with Verizon. When my wife and I upgraded I looked at what was offered and reviews for Assurance. I got her Apple Care+ for her iPhone, and went Square Trade for my V10.
And that's why LG has fine print while they make their durability claims.
This is why I use tempered glass screen protectors, I'd rather break the screen protector than damage the glass on the phone a $10-20 expense vs $150-$300 depending on the route you take to fix the phone glass. I've replaced the damaged glass smartphones in most cases the glass is attached with UV loca to the screen and if you can manage to separate the glass from the screen without damaging it you can pay only about $25 for new glass off of ebay, but I assure you it is not an EASY thing to do for a novice. Keep in mind if you pay the $8-9 a month for the phone insurance you are basically wasting $192-$216 over two years if you don't use it. [/rant ]
Your best bet is to replace the part yourself. You can buy what you need off of Ebay. If you've never replaced the screen with the digitizer before You NEED to watch videos on youtube and read anything on ifixit for the tools you might need to buy to disassemble the phone. You are lucky right now prices start at $83 and go up, but make sure you buy the correct model for YOUR phone screen with digitizer can be different between phone model from different carriers.. And if you are uncomfortable doing this yourself buy the part and try to find a local shop(usually a third party cell phone shop) that will do the work for you. Here's an ebay link

I purchased the digitizer but in the end I had LG do the repair because they would warranty it. I didn't want to risk dorking up a $650 device. I probably should have tried as it would be nice to have that skill. Maybe I'll drop the phone next week and then I'll get to do it ha ha. Definitely going to throw a screen protector on...especially given that I'm convinced mine was poorly assembled in the first place causing it to shatter after one small drop.
