i seriously doubt the specs though....its very similar to our phone....it should be a bigger improvement imo
Yeah, take a look at the optimus x3 Hardware. (Comming with ICS)
So why should i buy the 3D 2 with GB which is so simliar to the 3D?
Gesendet von meinem LG-P925 mit Tapatalk
gotta ask a question here....if the hardware was similar enough....would it be possible to use its rom on our phone(just an idea came to my mind) if yes then its ok if it came with similar specs since we are gonna benefit from it
Seems like same omap just overclocked.

Who in the WORLD would buy another LG phone? Worst support ever, no updates, no developers, nothing?
It doesn't matter if it got the best hardware, we have no developers for our phone and I would DOUBT that the next generation would.
Go for a samsung. The 9100 is better than our phone in every way. The next Galaxy S3 will be better than the next O3D in every way.
Developer = Everything.
Just a heads up, the next generation of smartphones will have quadcore. And LG goes for a... dualcore? Smart..

I've not had any problems I didn't have with any other smart phone.

If the upgrade is worth it I'll definately buy the new O3D and by worth it I mean quadcore, 1GB+ ram, higher res cam, bigger and/or higher res screen.
If the upgrade is not worth it I'll just stick with my O3D until probably the end of the year because I'm absolutely satisfied with my problem free phone (no lag at all ever, no performance issues, no instability, no signal loss, no reboots, no battery problems).

Even if LG releases an... 8core with 4GB+ RAM and fullHD screen and all the most advanced hardware in the world, it will mean nothing if they don't decide to seriously optimize the software for it.
I mean we got one of the best Android phones, regarding the hardware specs, on the market today. It's simply unacceptable that sometimes the phone lags even on simple tasks or that the with the GB update many people are noticing ghost phone calls/texts and loss of connectivity, just because the LG engineers didn't properly test/optimize the software.

We have just to developers. When you look at thread of i9100 you can see at least 10 developers working on roms. AND they are getting ICS lot earlier.
We have Thiaiz who is really great but he has to work with reallly bad LG software.

Don't ever forget that those ICS ports on other devices comes from leaked ICS builds from manufactures. If LG leak an early ICS build I could develope it, but there is LG problem, they don't do like others and they don't care about their customers. So let's wait for ICS in September.

Sorry the new 3D phone from LG is nothing more than a recycled optimus 3D just made thinner. I doubt that it would have serious improvements compared to the optimus 3d.
And seriously GB on release no thanks. If the new sony xperia S were a bit sooner there I would get it.
For the moment I just got my hands on a brand new Galaxy Note N7000 in ceramic white and hope to be happy with it for the next time.
So I am saying goodbye to LG after 2 optimus phones (2x and 3d).
The optimus 3D is a serious device. It can do everything but the only feature that is really its territory is the 3D display and camera which I find superb.
I am going to miss shooting in 3d .

hi guys,
i'm new to the forum. this weekend I'm gonna buy my first android phone. not sure whether to buy nexus s or lg 2x. hope u guys can tell the pros and cons of this two phone.

Edit:
From my understanding,
Nexus s,
-great super amoled
-will get latest update
-more optimized
-certain phone have problem with capacitive touch screen
Lg 2x,
-greater cpu n gpu
-better camera
-dual core is not being fully optimized with current os version
-problem with random reboot
I am also thinking of replacing my Nexus S for LG Optimus 2X but I dont know should I do it. Big dillema...

The Nexus S has a better GPU but a worse GPU.
Also the Camera isn't necessarily better on the O2x, megapixels doesn't matter too much.
The Nexus S does not have a touchscreen problem.
And finally: Yes, the dualcores aren't being used very much (yet).
As for a real answer: None of them, Galaxy S II.
It doesn't cost much more than the O2x, but is miles better.
What touchscreen issue is the op referring to?

OP you're asking about the lg optmius 2x ... the LG-P990 that means you're are probably going to be on bands that the international galaxy S supports
i say SGS2
I'm referring the back capacitive button
Look up for reviews on battery life of LG Optimus 2x, dont know how the dual core handles battery life.
But, i have been looking up on SGS2 forums over here @ xda, and it seems most people are not happy with their purchase due to battery life issues.
PS: I bet you wouldnt want a phone that dont last long right?
EDIT: FYI, do read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088098
most ppl get a nexus because its a nexus. everyone knew when the nexus s came out that is was no revolutionary piece of hardware. but they wanted the direct updates and support from google.

Really? if i was paying $800 to buy it here in the states (that samsung USA probably wouldn't provide support for), it better not have any issues!
Hey OP
I actually had a G2x for 29 days. Actually I had 2 of them. On day 29 I sent it back for a refund and got the Nexus S. I haven't looked back.
I was plagued with random reboots and freezes. It was really annoying. Also, the G2x was unusually "tall" and heavy with large spaces between the touch buttons at the bottom. It felt like a quality device, but it didn't feel as comfortable as the Nexus S.
With the Nexus S, you are guaranteed updates for a long time into the future. With the G2x, you are stuck with Froyo out of the box, and a few custom ROMs are emerging. None of the custom ROMs are fully stable and bug-free yet. Heck, even the stock ROM isn't stable and bug-free. Furthermore, the stock ROM isn't Vanilla Froyo, which really annoyed me. LG made quite a few subtle changes to the UI that I did not appreciate, and much preferred the true stock Nexus experience.
The G2x was snappier then the Nexus S, but the overall experience was not as fulfilling to me.
Yeap agree with that.
Support from Google is onebof the main selling point!

I'm a sucker for technology. Right when the g2x was released, I had to replace it with the nexus s. I had the g2x for 2 weeks and went back to my nexus S. The g2x had too many problems and the annoying screen bleed!! I would watch videos at night and I'd always stare at it and try to rub the area just to see if i could fix it. Anyways, the nexus S is alot faster then stock g2x. I'm sure the g2x can get faster after some modding, but when I was using it only got a quadrant score of 2400 while the nexus right now gets 3300 with c7 and netarchy. The nexus s also has a better form factor as well as samoled screen. The g2x had horrible speakers. Everytime old I'd go into speaker mode, the other person would hear echoing. Also my g2x had a hard time getting a GPS lock while the Nexis s gets it in 5 seconds. I think ill pass on the g2x since it didn't exceed any of my expectations.
One thing I liked about the g2x was the way it looked and felt. I don't really like the plastic feeling of the nexus s.
for playing games, LG is better
for roms, ehhh...

The 2x is for Europe (supports different frequencies), and runs LG's custom skin on top of the OS.
The G2x is for T-Mobile USA, and they removed the skin.
Both appear plagued with similar problems, the 2x appears to be getting/have gotten? an OTA to address some issues, but I don't know where that stands.
i was also thinking about getting the g2x but im going to keep my nexus s as it might get supported more than the g2x
I have replaced my Nexus with O2X and havent regreted. Everything is so fast and snappy. Not to mention fantastic Tegra 2 games connected thru HDMI to plasma.

LG PR
Its fair enough saying that they will release it theyve been saying that about GB and thats like two year old, But does wonders for their PR image. Can see it now 2013 "sorry we havent released ice cream sandwidch but we are currently extensivly testing this so to limit any bugs that maybe present. Thankyou for your patience a release will be proberly tested and in q2 2016"
They must have been pretty impressed with the negative reaction to their facebook announcement about the 2.3 release.
They have deleted over 150 comments so far, most expressing extreme dissatisfaction with their customer and community support.
It sound a good news, let hope so. But LG always lies in 2.3 ....
it's not just the case of LG, SE has the same issue with the X10.
Sadly ppl think that as soon as google releases a new android version we have/going to get it.

Unless I misread it the page says other high end models, not flagship ones and definitely does not say all either. Given the new O3D apparently comes out next year ours won't be a flagship model anyway so they are unlikely to waste time or money developing ICS for our phone when it will be a few years old and outdated by then.

No they are contractually bound to give the o3d and the lg thrill gb and ics updates... google requires manufacturers to provide any os updates with in 18 months of a devices launch... so if a new os comes out by march 2013 for us thrill owners lg will have to give us that as well... for o3d owners... something like january 2013

Aside from the 3D aspect O3D is not their highest end or even most powerful phone and given that they are planning its successor for next year I just don't think they will give us ICS.
As regards contractual obligations I dont think they have any as my previous lg phone never got gingerbread and quite a few of them still don't. Isn't android free for manufacturers? If so not sure how they could be tied into future obligatory updates but I don't know for sure their not.

Looks like the LG x3 will come to the US as the T-Mobile G4x, much like the LG x2 came over as the T-Mobile G2x. Now, I'm excited about the phone, but am extremely cautious with my expectations. The G2x was a calamity and if it wasn't
for XDA I would have dumped T-Mobile. Today, this is the best phone ever (thanks to Hell's ICS rom) I consistently out perform my friends Galaxy SII's and Galaxy Nexus' (Granted I'm OC'd to 1.4Ghz vs their stock, but hey, that's why I'm on XDA and they are just sheeple phone buyers).
I remember preliminary reviews on the G2x giving it glowing reviews, but when it got to the consumers hands, it was a disaster. I don't think the people who did the reviews know exactly what the definition of review means. When I saw video reviews, the phone had no customer Icons or apps and it looked like someone played with it for about an hour than made a review of it, which would explain the glowing reviews the G2x got from 99% of the "professional" review sites out there.
Me, I want the G4x, I thrive to have a phone with the power of my Transformer Prime, but not with the headaches the G2x started with. I'll read a real reviews posted on XDA or other android forums for 2 months after launch before taking the leap. And hey, with ICS running so fantastically on the G2x, I could wait for T-mo to give a G4x for free on contract renewal.
Just wondering how other G2x owners feel about the G4x? I was considering going with the HTC Tegra 3 phone (The Sensation is getting ICS officially, while LG leaves the G2x dead in the water, thank goodness for community support), due to LG's terrible support of the G2x. Another consideration was to wait for the Krait based phones. Anand did a write up on the architecture and it looks like that Dual-Core can give the Quad-Core Tegra 3 a run for its money. Hey, at least this comes with the latest Android OS, not one 2 versions old (I still can't believe the G2x shipped with Froyo....shudder....)
Thanks for reading, have an excellent day!!!
http://androidandme.com/2012/02/sma...-smartphone-in-the-us-with-stock-android-4-0/
this might be a dumb question, but whatever happened to the g3 or whatever? did they just skip over that product line? whatever happened to consistency?
I'm not really excited for it. Tegra chips have always been overrated IMO. The Snapdragon Krait processors are already said to perform better on lower levels of energy than the Tegra 3. Even the upcoming dual core Ti-OMAP's and Exynos' are said to perform better than the quad core Tegra.
Plus it's going to be closed source again so devs will have their problems.
So to me, good phone, well built, nice hardware and software, but the closed source is what will make me look elsewhere.
Phone looks decent. At this point in time phone hardware is to the point where pretty much any high end phone will get the job done just as good or slightly (not noticably in real world use) better than its competitors. It will come down phone design, screen size, and software support for me. I'm not going count LG out as this was my first LG phone. The Vibrant was my first Android phone and while Samsung was horrible with support for that phone they seem to have learned from it and are making an effort to do better. No reason the same cant happen with LG.

Is it me or is there something off about LG. The quality, no matter how good the specs are, just seems mediocre. Back in the day, I used to have an LG Chocolate and while it looked great, it was a piece of crap. Since then I never bought anything LG again. When the g2x came out I decided its been long enough and gave LG another chance. The g2x turned out to have as many annoying problems as the chocolate.

My resentment for LG has nothing to do with the developers. CM7 is the best thing that could have happened for my G2X. I was VERY close to ditching the phone until I came across the CM7 rom. With the CM7 Nightly 224 + Trinity kernel, my phone is usable once again. I still have to reboot my phone daily so that I can get working email and such (networking seems to hang if not rebooted daily). I can live with that.
As of now I'm happy with my G2x and LG. Number one I'm a brand loyalty kind of guy. I say that to say this I have no regrets with LG, so I'm really looking at continuing our partnership with the G4x.

That does look splendid. The new UI looks cool also but I don't like the dock icons. Thanks for posting

I have loved the G2x.. But it looks like I could love this phone as well. I'll probably hold off to the following year though, I hate paying full price

It might just come bone stock like the G2X did. The optimus 2x has an ugly skin overlay and we got it stock-ish.
It will more than likely be stock android but TBH I wouldn't mind this new UI I kind of like it
Hi every one
Since the announcement at MWC 2012 for the "LG OPTIMUS 3D MAX" I thought it would be cool to see what others opinions are about the phone, what do you think about the specs? are you a diehard fan of LG? or a tech savvy fan who loves 3D technology? are you fed up with LG's lack of support for their high end phones?

I'm not a diehard fan of LG and I don't think the 3d max is worth to buy.
but yes, I'm "a tech savvy fan who loves 3D technology"
maybe if the next month or year 3d phone with monster spec come out, I definitely bought it.
right now I think my O3D is doing just fine..
I like that its thinner and has 1gb ram.... but I don't think that justifies me getting one.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
I will buy the LG x4 .. didnt need a thinner O3D ..

It's just the same phone, with an overclocked processor and better screnn...

LG? never again
It'll be out with GB before our phone gets it. I think you'd have to be crazy to buy it though. I have been sorely burned by LG this time. The fact that it's releasing with GB instead of ICS is just a repeat of how our phones launched with Froyo instead of GB.
3D max is basically same as evo 3D ..

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?zsfi3p
If LG swaps it free with my O3D then only I will get it otherwise never LG phone.
I'd rather trade my O3D and pick up Galaxy SIII.
it was my first and last LG phone, bought it cause my x10 died lol, but no won't buy it, so few more months and will get an xperia S, which has better specs (except for the sd card slot) and can take 3d panorama pics, so I'm in
Not buying one until I see what other 3D phones are announced this year, at worst I will get one after it gets updated to ICS.
I'm definitely "tech-savvy who loves 3D"...and the 3D Game Converter from LG is a must-have IMO, I hope a competitor can offer something superior though

LG has some of the best hardware but is by far the worst when it comes to the software of their phones.
O3D is their flagship phone at the moment but its performance is not quite as convincing as other dual-cores, mainly due to the bad software implementation. Not to mention, the fiasco with the ghost calls issue which is a huge embarrassment for a company the size of LG.
But even if LG had the best software in the world, it wouldn't be any reason to get the new O3D Max which has almost the same specifications like the old O3D. They could have at least increased the screen resolution in order to see less pixelated picture in 3D mode.
I used to complain about SE x10 software it was laggy but they mature after a while and now it's cool, i'll get the xperia s,
indeed o3d has an incredible awful software, sometimes wifi crashes and the phone overheats, ram usage is high, sometimes i have like 70mb free
maybe lg will do a better job next time
I'll buy the updated model. Yes.
The only other serious 3D contender to date has been the HTC Evo 3D and having tried both I think the LG phone is the better 3D phone. The display is better at displaying 3D stills and video. The updated Gingerbread camera(s) are good.
A faster model with more RAM would be awesome. I'm looking forward to it.
2D-only phones are dead to me.

Hello everyone
Excuse me for doing another poll, maybe there are too many but I'm considering to abandon Android platform, or at least LG Optimus 3D. The reasons are various, mainly being the fact that I got bored with Android, the last 3D picture I took was a few weeks ago and LG O3D is starting to lag, not to keep up with the novelty.
So I am asking you: What will you buy after ditching LG O3D:
1) Still Android
2) iOS
3) Windows Phone 8
4) I think I'll wait for Ubuntu OS
5) Firefox OS - this will be a hit!
Android. Duh

Android, maybe Ubuntu.

My O3D died, won't charge past 4% but loved it. Went to a Samsung but now on a Motorola RAZR i and so far this is the best phone I've owned. Fast, slick, solid built but best of all is the battery life. Minimum of 4 times battery life with extensive use.

I'm still holding out hope for a 2013 Optimus 3D
Otherwise I think I will go big maybe a Galaxy Note II or LG Optimus G Pro if a new 3D phone is not announced by summer time
I think we are going to get one. I have been bugging LG about it and they seem receptive to the idea. If there is one thing they are, it is stubborn and that is good for us, and bad.
If they can pull off decent sales with it, not stellar but decent, they will definitely release one. But their problem is that they still aren't listening to customers about updating their recent devices and software...
Why would we buy their brand new phones if they are just going to leave them in the dust.

I'm just a huge fan of stereoscopic 3D, I have to go with what is available. I'm not very concerned with updates as long as the device works as it was intended (which admittedly the O3D has huge issues with the GB build)
I'm willing to sacrifice updates for great 3D functionality, the O3D is near 2 years old now and the hardware is just not enough anymore regardless of updates.
I think i'll stick with my O3D at least for another year. After that....who knows. A LOT of things change in only one year, especially when it comes to smartphones. I think there is a good chance I'll be switching to windows phone (I'm a little bored of android) but it all depends on what google will bring in android 5.0 (and above). This should be an interesting year.
