Not sure this is the right place to ask questions - but regardless, back to Froyo stock? If so you could ODIN something from here - I believe there are some that are pre-rooted for you. You could also ODIN the EE4 tar found here (maybe include the pit file found here), then ODIN the CWM found here, boot into recovery and flash a custom kernel (like one from here or here for example). Hope this helps!

How to remove cm9 and get back on standard android 2.1?
Thanks
Have a look on my signature. Follow the link to the firmware thread and download the firmware you want. Then flash it via Odin as you did with CM9.
And then search further.. no need to open new threads
Hello everybody. This is my second post and obviously I'm a noob. I own the Samsung Galaxy R I9103 and would love to root it. I have been researching the probable options for the last few days and here's what I have come up with. I really need help in deciding which way to go about rooting my phone.
Option 1. The hard old way - Flashing the Superuser.zip package through ODIN PDA
http://androidadvices.com/root-samsung-galaxy-i9103-tutorial/
The rooting package included in this method probably also includes the CWM(ClockworkMod) recoveryconfused
A simpler explanation of this old school method will be much appreciated.
I'm a bit skeptical about this method as this method probably comes with the famous yellow triangle and I really don't know how to get rid of it.(enlighten me).
Option 2. Flash CWM through ODIN --> Backup through CWM --> Flash Superuser.zip through CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406880
Are the ODIN, CWM and Superuser packages mentioned in this method the latest ones for the Galaxy R or are there new ones available?
Are there any complications that might arise by using this method(known issues?)?
Option 3: Flashing CWM through ODIN --> Flashing a rooted custom kernel through CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418895
Here the dev has been generous in providing 2 options: 1. Zip package Flashabe through CWM recovery
2. ODIN flashable package.
Which one should I go for?
This kernel provides OverClocking options. Is OC only available through custom kernels or can SetCPU help in overclocking if I go for option 2? If I go for option 2 to root my phone will I be able to later flash a custom rooted ROM like the one above without any complications?
Okay, here are a few important questions:
Option 1 seems tedious, so probably ruled out. I'm confused between option 2 and 3. What is the best, easiest and safest(data loss) way to go about?
Will any of the above methods wipe out the phone storage contacts, notes, settings, apps etc? Please provide a few tips about backup as well(Stock ROM or kernel backup through CWM? for later restoration). Any suggestions will be really helpful..TIA
option 1 doesn't exist!!!!!
There's no way to flash zips via Odin, only tar /tar.md5
The best way is to flash CWM via Odin (doesn't increase download counter) and then flash superuser.zip via CWM. So I guess option nr 2. It's the safest!
If you flash custom kernel via Odin, you'll get yellow triangle and your download counter will increase. Via CWM you can flash anything without that risk. Rooting won't cause your data/settings loss. The only way to create a backup of your system, data, cache is nandroid backup on CWM.
Never mind...

Download Counter is Samsung's technique to keep a check on the number of times custom firmware had been flashed on the phone.
But there's a work around & it can be reset before giving to Samsung to service center for warranty claims.
Hope this helps.
hi friends
sorry about my english
i have samsung sgh-i997r ( rogers ) , uxkg3 , 2.3.3 stock
i rooted it today by this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248 (after rooting i flashed stock kernel)
i wanted to install cwm to create recovery (i installed busybox , rom manager...) but i cant ...
now i want to restore(flash) my phone to factory stock 2.3.3 rom ( without root & any change in rom... )
but i dont know how?... i searched but i didnt find stock firmware...
thanks for your help
Look in the iset thread for the rogers stock pack.
Edit: here is the guide- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326143

Andros is right an him being a senior member i would definitly follow him. you can also find the same info in the super everythig tread under development.
you may want to pay attention to information specifically pertaning to Rogers group as i think there is a difference, otherwise why would they categorize for "Rogers only".
as i did, my suggestion is, read read read.
good luck

Odin return to stock would be the option for stock out of the box with no root, but dont let one bad experience limit your options.
not every ROM is going to work the same for everybody and their phone. each phone is a little different. a ROM that works on one phone may not work the same on yours.
seems only way is odin stock pack ==> stock kernel ==> delete extra files from root
is odin stock pack really stock?? no need to csc file?
now other question:
when i want to install update.zip in e3 recovery ( to install cwm ) i receive this error :
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verifiction failed
why?
thanks...
here is the solution.

are you just returning to stock without root?
or
return to stock,root & modded 3e recovery?
the signature fail is what i got when i was rooted and wanted to flash.
what i was missing was the "CommunityKernal.tar.md5". dont quote me on the exact name of the file, but it was a community kernal. i have the file on the wifes laptop, not mine. not exactly sure how to post link either.
i had a short recovery after "stock, root & modded 3e recovery"(cant remember color, think it was green). after flashing community kernal i had a longer list in recovery and it was red. was good to go and flashing everything in sight.
your Odin "stock,root & modded 3e recovery" took about 5 minutes ???
community kernal flashes in Odin also, but will take only about 15 seconds.
same method though.
i am sure somebody on here would have the community kernal if it is not outdated, though whenever i used it, it works flawlessly.
somebody may have a faster way, but again nice and safe for me
these are two separate questions
1 how too return to stock 2.3.3 (solved )
2 i downloaded modded e3. but there is no recovery in system/bin to replace it. so i only pasted it there
installed rom manager== > choosed i9000 ==> flashed
when i want install update.zip i receive above errors

still say you need community kernal.
from the information your giving, i think your using unecessary software, ie. rom manager and maybe you are skipping steps.
what are you trying to flash??? (GB, ICS or JB) there are important steps to progress from one to another. if you skip, you get problems.
read read read, go slow and make sure you understand. really arent any shortcuts to take

OOOPS
The modded recovery process will not work with your phone as you noticed, there isn't any recovery file.
Did you already remove root? You will need it for CWM recovery.
I'm not completely sure if a GB kernel such as Entropy's would allow you to use CWM. I'll see if I can find something about it
Edit: it seems I was right. Entropy's kernel should give you CWM. However, follow either one of these guides which use the Infused kernel instead:
I you have not removed root yet (start on step 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20140197&postcount=3
If you already unrooted, you will need to use Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248

NEWBIE ALERT
Hey guys, I installed cwm through ODIN and it looked like this http://static.masterjason.com/images/xda/cwm-herc-4-0-0-2.png
I then flashed my ROM from stock GB to stock ICS(xxq7)
But the look of my CWM has changed from http://static.masterjason.com/images/xda/cwm-herc-4-0-0-2.png to *WILL UPLOAD*
Home button DOES NOT WORK I have to select thing by pressing the power button.
And inorder to go back I need to navigate to the "..." and select "..."
Kindly help asap as I want to flash ardadat's kernel.
Also enlighten me on HOW TO FLASH A KERNEL!
Thanks.
And MAZEL II dl links aren't working, kindly look into it
First of all this type questions belongs to Q'nA board. As now we are having Q'nA board kindly use it for posting any questions.
As u said u have flashed stock ICS upon ur stock GB. Stock roms (odin flashable packages) comes with stock recovery software. When u flash whole stock rom package it also replace ur recovery and I think that's y after flash u see different recovery software. Simply just flash any CWM package using odin. (U can find collection of adam in dev section).
About flashing kernels. Most of all kernels available for our device are provided in CWM flashable zips by their devs. Simply place zip on ur sd card. Boot in recovery and select install zip. Navigate to zip file and flash it. Kernel will be flashed.

Okay, So I flashed the kernel
Thanks!
