I would like to ask is it possible to install US WiFi 3.2 (or 3.1) on MZ601 3G and get a working rom without 3g support, because I don't have 3g data-plan active yet.
i tried to search in forum but couldn't find a smiler issue
Thanks in advance

Same Problem.
I think team eos release a non us 3g rom

I think you'll find the problem is your Euro 3G MZ601 uses GSM radio and hardware while the US 3G MZ602 uses CDMA radio and hardware. Thus the US ROMs don't interface correctly with you MZ601.
The new EOS ICS for Euro 3G works very well on my Hong Kong sourced MZ601 with Australian Telstra 3G.
For pain free installation I would suggest running "fastboot oem unlock" again before flashing to ensure a clean install.

I'm going to be obtaining a Xoom MZ600 soon, and I'm trying to do some homework ahead of time for rooting it. It seems like there are ROMS for ICS for MZ601, 602, 604 but nothing for MZ600.
From what I understand, it seems like the 602 and 600 are roughly the same tablet. The 600 is "upgradeable" to 4g, while the 602 includes 4g. I'm not sure what they mean by upgradeable, I'm guessing a software update?
The major question here is whether or not I can use an ICS ROM for the MZ602 with the MZ600. A thread I read did say the 600 software wasn't compatible with the 602, but it wasn't very specific. Does that mean it wasn't the same to begin with, but it's the same tablet so newer ROMS won't be a problem? Does that mean that there's some incongruity that won't let 602 software work on a 600?
Just confused is all, I wasn't able to find a clear post about it.
Best I can tell so far, you can bring your MZ600 to Verizon to have it upgraded to work with their LTE network.
...That still doesn't help me figure out if a 602 ROM is compatible with 600. One post made it seem like an MZ600 owner was running an MZ604 ROM. Another post said this would break it. I guess in what way? If I only care about the WiFi radio, is there really a problem installing a 604 ROM over the 600?

[Q] MZ602 ROMs Compatible with MZ600?

There is always the Universal Root - (if this was an issue) ... Anywho-
Per their website - the specs between the MZ600 & MZ602 are identical.
I'm not sure if Motorola does any MZ600 ROM Tweaks while the 4G LTE Upgrade is in progress to MZ602. We know for sure, that there is a New Modem. Why install the MZ604 ROM on a MZ600? Just- wondering. It could not hurt to contact the Manufacture if you really want an Expert answer. Motorola has instructions on their MOTO Dev website on how to revert back to stock from Root, so I figure asking them a simple question about ROM Differences would be ok. Or, if you are feeling adventurous try it at your own RISK. Let us know! Good Luck.
"The models include the MZ600, MZ601, MZ602 and MZ604. Not sure what happened to the MZ603 in there. In the meantime, it seems the only real difference between these four model numbers comes in the form of the radio, or in the case of the MZ604 — the lack of radio.
In other words, the MZ604 is the Wi-Fi only model, which happens to include 802.11 b/g/n. The other three models round out as follows, the MZ600 has support for EVDO Rev.A and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and the MZ601 and the MZ603 both have support for GPRS/EDGE Class 12, HSDPA 10.1Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n. "- TFTS
MZ602 is basically an MZ600 with upgraded 4G-Module. This is not just a Software update, during this upgrade your xoom is opened (the two screws besides the hdmi/usb/power-connectors are removed, the aluminum cover can then be slid down a couple of inches), a dummy mini-pci-card is then replaced with a new module. After that a new software will then be flashed in order to support the new mini-pci-card.
If you flash an MZ602-Rom onto your MZ600, my guess is that it will work, but you won't get any 3g-connection, don't know if wifi will work. But this is just a guess.
However, why go with a MZ602-rom? Just flash Team EOS ICS-rom for MZ600 from here (stable) or here (nightlies)

AH! A Team EOS ICS Rom for the 600 DOES exist. I couldn't find a thread for the nightlies and was starting to assume that it only supported the 602 (and all other models except the 600).
That said, the descriptions above of how they upgrade the 600 clear things up for me. It seems like my 600 would be a 602 after sending it in for an upgrade.
Either way, I'm not really planning on signing up for a Verizon account so I'd really just be using Wifi on it. I could probably do some tricks to put the Xoom onto my Sprint account, but I wouldn't have 4G either way in that event.
But.......the EOS ICS Rom for the X600 says.....
NOTE: THIS IS FOR VERIZON 3G DEVICES ONLY. NOT DEVICES UPGRADED TO 4G.
That being said, I didn't even realize that my XOOM was an MZ600 until this morning. I have only been looking and loading ROMs that say they are usable with the 4G upgrade (that I'd sent in and received).
I did, though, flash the ROM for the X600 and its working wonderfully.
I think I may re-flash one of the different ones, though, now....just to see.
BTW.....I know just enough to be dangerous, and have rooted, unrooted, flashed, returned to stock, gosh knows how many times, and haven't totally bricked the thing yet. Thought I had the other day when I couldn't get past the "RGD" Motorola screen.......but that's another story altogether.
Current Config:
Tablet: 4G LTE XOOM (MZ600) 32gb + 32gb microSD
Kernel: 2.6.39.4-Tiamat-3.0.5-gpuoc-02068-g99da013
-ROM-: EOS IML74K Nightly 62 (lee4b3c)
Recov: ClockWorkMod 4.0.0.4
Baseband version: CDMA_N_03.1A.5DPLTEDC_U_05.19.07 (Would this indicate what "X" version I'm now on?)
Cheers!
Hi,
Does anyone know, if it is possible to flash a MZ604(UK, German etc) Wifi Only Rom on a MZ600 Verizon Wifi+3g device?
- If yes, do I need to look my device again to reiceive updates or is it even possible to receive updates after the flash?
- If no, can I use another rom instead?
I'm asking that because I'm living in Europe do not need the UMTS chip, it wouldn't work either and the system now is in english only. That's not a problem for me but for my dad, thus I want to make him happy
Thanks for any help
KR
I don't know exactly for the UK, German etc based roms, but I do know that for the US based Wi-Fi only based roms, they work flawlessly on my Wi-Fi + 3g Xoom at this present time.
I am new. I got a MZ601 Xoom 3G GSM unlocked in US.
Build number H.6.5.-17-1,
Kernel version 2.6.36.3
Base Band N_01.100.05P
Android H3.2
I wonder if some expert can help me to identify what device image (to be used in country other than US) in this device. It is because I could not find this software image in the list of the device software image in the Motorola Device Software Images.
Is it possible to flash with some roms of non US Xoom 3G GSM (MZ601)?
Hi!
You may use the Team EOS 1.0.0. It fits the MZ601 perfectly, including the 3g functionality.
