any helppppppppppppppppppppp?
Put your phone into fastboot.
Download ClockWorkMod Recovery: http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
Flash clockwork mod recovery in fastboot with this command: fastboot flash recovery C:\where\ever\you\put\the\file.img
Then from fastboot select recovery.
Wipe data/factory reset
Install zip from sdcard: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.1.0.1-NS-signed.zip
Do you have a custom recovery?
If yes, then download a Rom to your computer and either a) mount your to computer and transfer the Rom to your phone or b) push it to your phone with adb.
After that is done wipe everything (except sd card) and flash the Rom you just transferred to your sd card. Reboot and enjoy.
If you do not have a custom recovery then download one (search) and place it into the same folder on your computer as fastboot. Then plug your phone into the computer and boot to the bootloader. Run this command ( fastboot flash recovery insertname.Img ). After this do the steps I wrote above.
If you have any questions about the above steps then search you will find the answer. If you unlocked your bootloader than your computer obviously sees your phone and adb works well. If you can get your phone into the bootloader then I don't see any reason how your problem cannot be fixed. This leads me to believe your not quite putting forth the effort to search.
Check the stickies in this section and have fun.

How about instead of making a thread with no one helps me in capital letters and bumping it over and over again. You actually put info in your thread. Like what you did. Examples. Unlocked via fastboot with sdk flashed so and so recovery and so on
Or you could have just searched the forum/read another thread about how to fix a phone stuck at google logo because of user error.
Frankly you are lucky anybody even bothered to help you at all.

I have rooted android devices such as the htc hero and desire so I have a bit of background. However I tried rooting the nexus s and actually didn't even root the phone. After unlocking the nexus bootloader the instructions I followed said to reboot the phone which I did. However when I rebooted the phone it stays on the Google screen with a lock at the bottom of the screen The only upside is that my phone isn't totally bricked because I can access the bootloader by pressing up and power. Someone please help I will donate if you can get my phone up and running. By the way i'm using the tmobile 3g nexus s.
You need to download a recovery image, and, superuser zip file. Put them on the root of your usb storage You, shouldn't, have rebooted the phone after unlocking the bootloader. The phone doesn't have a custom recovery yet, that's why you are seeing the triangle. Put the phone in fastboot open a terminal and type in fastboot devices you should see a line of numbers then fastboot. Then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (with the name being the ACTUAL NAME of the recovery image you downloaded) then it should say something like writing recovery and then you can put the phone in recovery mode. As soon as the screen turns off unplug it. When it boots into recovery select flash zip from SD Card (yes we don't, have an SD Card it doesn't matter) then locate the superuser zip and select install. Reboot the phone.
Sent from my NS running NSCollab cuz I lost my tin cans and string....
When you say type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img with the name being the ACTUAL NAME of the recovery image do you mean that i replace the word recovery with the name of the file or just replace recovery.img with the name of the file?
also i can't transfer it to usb storage because it doesn't show up on my pc
You need to turn on USB storage first. Also the name of the recovery image should be something like recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img (that would be the latest recovery from clockworkmod for our device, (crespo) Nexus S. So you would type fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img
Also once you move the su zip and recovery img to the USB Storage turn off the phone AFTER SAFELY REMOVING HARDWARE AND TURNING OFF USB STORAGE boot into the bootloader and do the above steps typing fastboot devices first to make sure you are connected All Gamer has a really good guide in either Nexus S general or Q&A

vintagetonez; I am almost having the same issue. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed recoverymod but was unable to locate the superuser zip file so I rebooted my nexus. When I tried to start over again and fastboot I'm getting an error with CMD saying its waiting for device. On the nexus when in fastboot mode at the very bottom it says fastboot failsomething or another.
Any suggestions as to how I can get fast boot working again?!

I should also say that I have tried booting in recovery since and clockwork mod is not there anymore. Its the stock android recovery. Is this a driver issue? I can't imagine so since I was able to unlock the bootloader

With the Nexus S, you MUST REFLASH recovery every time you need it. There is a way to rename the stock recovery so clockwork mod will stick. However, I prefer to reflash it as I never have to worry about bricking my device. If you want to use the renaming method Google it using XDA Developers as a search parameter.

I figured out what the problem is but I need the system.img file do you no where i can find it in android 2.3.4 i've manually download it to my desktop but can't find the file
Like a complete prat, I have lost my boot and recovery img!!!
I was trying to get clockwork recovery as the recovery img and then accidentally did:
fastboot flash boot recovery.img
instead of
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I have found an unlocked bootloader from here (third one down) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9869067&postcount=38
I have saved this to the AndroidSDK\tools file as bootloader.img and tried the below whilst in fastboot mode:
fastboot flash boot bootloader.img
but the phone only reboots to the fastboot screen.
I now have no phone and I need it for work, can anyone help me, im desperate?
Thank you
Why not just flash cwm recovery then flash a ROM?
There's a sticky in this forum section with almost all full ROMs (stock Android, no need to flash cwm recovery for the signed ones, can use stock recovery) or head over to dev forums and look for a custom ROM you like (need cwm recovery).
Be sure to pick the right ROM for your device.
you don't need a bootloader! you need a boot.img! a kernel with ramdisk! ^^
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
If the following command was executed successfully:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Next step is to download a ROM of your choice and flash it via ClockWorkMod recovery and you're good.
FYI, the command
Code:
fastboot flash boot ...
does not flash your "bootloader". It is used to flash the kernel, which will already be included in the ROM you downloaded.

No problem. Flash your recovery using the correct command (above).
If you have access to fastboot, use your volume keys as up and down, and navigate to the "Recovery" option. When your phone boots into recovery, you can mount your USB and copy a ROM to your device.
Then go back, do a factory/data wipe, and flash the zip you copied. This should restore your phone.

Thank you all for your replies and help and apologies for the late delay.
I have been away for a few days and with your help and a bit of playing about I managed to sort out the problem. I was probably a bit hasty to ask for help but actually felt that I had bricked my phone!
This happened because I was following two different fastboot flash guides on the net...lesson being just keep to one!
Also, when I lost cwm I didnt know how to get it back...but again you can only learn from your mistakes and I did.
I managed to get cmw reinstalled and cm7 flashed.
Now I am running the latest MIUI and it is pretty good.
Thanks all for your help, see you the next time I panic!

Hello everyone!
I've used ROM manager to flash clockwork mod recovery and it worked great until I realised that this clockwork doesn't see my SD card! I just wanted to know is there a solution to this without going back to stock etc?

Never fear! Fastboot is here!
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img from the command line of your computer (you must have motorola drivers installed plus adb/fastboot tools)
I recommend Rogue Recovery, it's over in the android development section. Others prefer TWRP and EOS recovery. Take your pick. All support the internal SD card.
Thanks for your reply!
I thought about it initially, wanted to repeat steps used to flash it when original recovery was on. But first command re-booted xoom and took me to clockwork (no s..t, Sherlock? ) and then I thought I better stop before I end up with a brick.
So just to be clear, connect my xoom, go to the right folder on my pc and type:
fastboot flash recovery file-name.img
is that correct? do I need to be in recovery?

So you need to be in bootloader mode, not recovery. You can either turn the xoom on then press the down button about 2 seconds after you see the splash screen or use 'adb reboot bootloader'. I think it says 'starting fastboot protocol', can't quite remember from memory. then as you said, go to the right folder type fastboot flash recovery file-name.img
then fastboot reboot
then you'll be able to get into your custom recovery
love you man!
Hi Everyone,
So i followed all the steps to temp root 2.20 including successfully installing TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project). I then downloaded the CM10 rom and extracted the boot.img as per posts and rebooted into the bootloader and flashed the boot.img from CM10 via Fastboot. However after doing then rebooting to Recovery mode in order to flash the ROM, i get stuck in the red text where it gives you a warning about it being in development mode or something.
I am able to successfully boot into the bootloader via Power+down volume. Additionally I am able to boot into the TWRP recovery just fine, however I am lost and have no clue how to restore my phone to either the CM10 ROM or most importantly at least to stock working condition.
When i got to mount the SDCARD via twrp normally i would get a pop up on my screen and allow me to access my SD card, now i get a pop up just telling me that i need to format my SD card first. I'm afraid some how my SD card got wiped or something.
Can someone please walk me through the steps on how to restore my phone. Please if possible i would appreciate using LAME terms as i do not have any experience as you can tell i screwed up :/ Can you please listed step by step instructions including commands for Fastboot/adb etc etc if needed. Thank you very much for your help and support.

I know you tried to help, but it appears now I have bricked the phone. Hopefully i can fix it as i still have access to Bootloader and TWRP recovery. I'll PM you in the morning, thank you.
dont factory reset in bootloader. only factory reset in twrp. sometimes evita has a hard time getting into recovery from bootloader. just keep trying to get into recovery from bootloader. also even if your phone doesn't boot all the way adb sometimes still works. so try "adb reboot recovery" while its trying to boot.
if you did corrupt your sdcard try this method to get it fixed without having to run ruu.
[How to] Fix corrupt/unmountable internal storage on the HTC One X/XL
when you get your sdcard fixed remember to wipe everything and then copy cm10 and gapps to your sdcard and flash. since boot.img is already flashed you shouldn't need to do it again.
you did flash boot.img as "fastboot flash boot boot.img"? i made the mistake of flashing boot.img to recovery instead of boot. i was freaking out. just to make sure flash recovery again "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-evita.img"

Yes i did fastboot flash boot boot.img from within the Bootlader. FYI that boot.img was from inside the CM10 zip file. I belive my SD card is corrupt i will check out that link. FYI I am able to get into Recovery mode form the Boatloader if i chooser recovery. However since the SD card seems messed up i can't access it currently. Also I tried to use the method to install the CM10.zip file using TWRP recovery. That recovery has a GUI and you can click on the INSTALL button and choose the zip file you want to install, however it errors out.
What is the proper way to flash a rom when i am in the TWRP recovery? Can you provide me with the commands/steps? Thanks for all your support guys.

install/install from zip/browse to your zip/slide to flash (they really should patent that)
now most of us, to do a clean flash, we'd go into the "wipe" menu in TWRP before flashing , factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe system. then we flash our rom.
hope that cleared it up!

You won't be able to flash anything until you fixed your sdcard using the method in that link.

I tried to fixed corrupted SD card as per video. however after flashing the recovery.img via fastboot when it wants me to do a factory reset instead of doing the factory reset it just goes back to the HTC brilliant screen with the red warning text and sits there. If i go to twpr recovery and click on install i can't access me zip currently due to sd card issues.
Is there a way to format via PC since it lets me as long as I am in twpr and just put stock files/folders onto the SD card? Or is it possible to install the 2.20 ruu again? I re-downloaded it form HTC's site while I am in twrp however I cannot install it won't detect my phone. Thanks for your help.
"fastboot oem lock" then run ruu. ruu gets run in fastboot.
after the ruu, reunlock bootloader and flash twrp, copy cm10 and gapps to your sdcard, flash boot.img in fastboot, wipe everything except for external storage in twrp, flash cm10 and gapps in twrp, then reboot.
If you can get into twrp and go to mount, mount usb storage and connect your phone windows should prompt you to format the SD card.
Once that's done you can drag and drop the rom you want to flash then boot into fastboot and flash the boot.img.
If you want to run the ruu you need to relock the bootloader first.
To do that you must go into fastboot usb and then type fastboot oem lock.

I'm sorry i'm not too tech savy. Can you clarify how to Fastboot OEM lock. Assuming i just need to be in fastboot mode and run a command in command prompt?
Also once that is done how can i run RUU via fastboot? Right now i have HTC RUU for 2.20 from august that i downloaded from their site and not sure how i can have it detect my phone. If you could clarify and explain those steps in Lame terms i would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance.

Make sure you have the right drivers installed, download the latest htc sync from htc's website.
Install HTC sync connect phone and let the drivers install, then make sure you close htc sync from the system tray and try again.
Like DvineLord said below make sure you're in the bootloader then select Fastboot once selected it should say in red writing Fastboot USB.
fastboot only works in bootloader btw

Hmm. so you probably need to flash a recovery first.
then you will be able to use the recovery to mount usb and put a new rom on your "sd card"
Then you can flash the rom on your new recovery and don't forget to fastboot flash the boot.img.
edit: the all in one toolkit is great for things like this. It will put a new recovery on your phone with just a click of the button.

I just edited my original post. just in case you didn't know how. I guess I was a little slow.
Also I can't remember if a bootloader factory reset relocked your phone but you might want to check that too. up on top it would say locked or relocked. If it still says unlocked you don't have to do that step again. Like you did when you first rooted the phone.
(all in one tool kit is great for unlocking and relocking too) just put a copy of that bin file in all in one tool kit (data file i believe, but it says what to do in that thread)

Your phone is an s3?
My phone is an S4 as are I would guess the majority of users. I think the s3 is the international version. If you are on T mobile then it's a s4.
Ok,,,
so .... if your phone is an s3 version then you will have to check that the Rom you download is specific for your phone as most of the Roms on this site are for the s4 version.
you need to go to your recovery. press the volume down button and hold it. Then press the power button (don't hold it). That will get you to recovery.
when in twrp recovery you will see a mounts button. hit that then the next screen will have mount usb. then you will be able to move a rom you downloaded on your computer to your phone.
then you can install the rom zip in twrp.
then from your computer, I assume you know how to flash a boot.img
put a boot.img in your fastboot folder, open up a comand prompt.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
if you wanted a different recovery than you are using, find the download the recovery. *I would rename the recovery to recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(I only mention a different recovery because in some of the Rom threads you might read that you can only install a particular rom with an older version of twrp.)
I'm not sure of your skill or experience with all of this. If you are very new to it (then you are probably really frustrated) have no fear there is a little bit to learn but not that much. Just keep reading the development thread and the guides in it.

So were you able to put twrp on your phone? when you are in boot loader and click on the recovery does it take you to twrp? Yes the all in one toolkit will flash a recovery for you. but you have your boot loader unlocked first.

in twrp when you press "mounts" then press "mount usb", does your computer finally see your phone?
I was looking at your first post, you say that you rooted and flashed your phone. What do you mean by that? Did you download a ROM and attempt to flash it? Or did you "fastboot flash boot boot.img"?
If you are able to access your phone via computer it is as simple as downloading a rom on your computer moving it to your phone then in twrp "install from zip". Then fastboot flash the boot.img.

how to flash fastboot

if you are just fed up and want your phone back to stock then you will need to run an RUU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094414
To run a RUU you would need to relock your bootloader.
in console type "fastboot lock oem" or use your all in one toolkit to relock it.
if that fails you will need to put your stock recovery back. (you need to have boot loader unlocked to do this)
on the clockworkmod recovery page the stock recovery is the second download link.

Do you know how to FASTBOOT FLASH boot.img which is present inside the ROM.ZIP?
Try wiping data, cache, dalvik. Then reinstall.
