[Q] Installing Miui with ext2 partitioned card - General Questions and Answers

Is there anything special I need to do before installing the ROM to get the ext2 partition to work as intended?
Phone: HTC Desire GSM
Rom: MiUi 2.1.13
Sd card: Class 2
Or is itjust to install and it works like a charm?
(Nothing I need to enable in the bootloader?)
Been trying to get this thing to work for some days now but no ext storage is to be found even though ive followed all the recipies granny can come up with.

So installed the ROM yet again and it does not recognize the SD card at all...
Formatted with [14Gg - FAT34][512Mb - Ext2]
Used MiniTool Partition Wizard to partition the SD card, its a Class 2 16Gb card.

Noone has any thoughts?
Or is there an answer somewhere but I "havent taken the time to search"?
I read these forums on a regular basis, but pointing is better then silence

Are there minimum requirements to the SD card?

Best bet would be to ask in an MIUI site as there is no development for those roms done here. Also might want to check the CM site as MIUI uses all of their coding.

Thank you sir for your answer!
That sounds like a good idea.
I was under the impression that some of the developers were here, my bad then

MIUI is a closed source OS built off of the CM code. So the only thing we have here are porters and translators for now.
No prob.

CM10 questions

Hello all. OK I am a new user to XDA however I have both the Galaxy Tab 2 7 and Infuse 4g running CM9 and the HTC Amaze running Energy rom. Anyways my question is that for CM10 on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, will there be any way that apps can be move to the external sd without having to use GL to Sd card? I have a 16gb sd card and my tab internal memory is 8. I have looked at the CM10 for the gtab 2 7.0 and haven't found any answers. So can someone give me an answer. I want to flash CM10 and need to know if I can do it. If anyone wants to critique my spelling and grimmer, go ahead however, this is not school nor and none of us are perfect writers. Anyways if anyone can answer my question I would be very grateful.
P.S. I am not no noob or newbie whatsoever when it comes to rooting and flashing phones. I have starting flashing devices since last year with Huawei Ascend from Froyo to CM7 gingerbread. Rooted Samsung Admire and Samsung Captivate and flashed (bricked a few times) Samsung Infuse 4 from stock to various roms to finally CM9 android 4.0.4. Right now my active devices are both my HTC Amaze and Galaxy tab 2 7.0 wifi only running CM9. I know it is irrelevant. :good:
Link2SD
Think you have to partition the SD card to primary first , sorry not tried/used it . Hopefully someone can explain better than me ?
Off topic :
If all people can do is correct your spelling and not offer valid help ....F**k 'em ! I can never understand why people feel the urge to do that , it's childish and not really helpful to the question that is asked.
Sean
When they do try and correct someone I laugh at them. I been a visitor to this site since last year when I started to flash, root, etc.. It is like we all supposed to know to spell every word every created. No of us are perfect but it doesn't bother me at all. It is just funny though
I tired using Link2sd but that doesn't work. I do love what I hear from development on CM10 but I dont want to flash it yet unless you can move apps to external Sd card. I wonder is there a script or something I can flash thru Clockwork as a zip or do I have to push a file thru ADB
Ah Ok my bad ...It doesn't work on CM10 .Sorry about that rchad28 , did say i never tried it. Hope you find a solution soon tho !
Yeah a Grammar Nazi is just a troll that thinks it a bad ass lol .
Thanks Sean, yeah since I did not see a fix for CM9 just want wondering if there is APP to sd capabilities. But it all good. I will continue searching for my answers.

SD Card problem on Galaxy S2

good Morning,
on the forum about omni rom for i9100 a lot of people explain problems with SD card for install or move applications on.
On CM 11 the problem doesn't exist anymore due to the modification in the review 53644 if my memory is good.
modification of fstab.smdk4210 and the init.smdk4210.rc
Could you analyse this and apply a solution for this problem.
if you need help to test the solution i'm ok for.
Best Regards
PS: thank's for this very good Rom

Our configuration is currently identical to CM's - we've had the equivalent of 53644 since before nightlies started
The sdcard fuse daemon is acting derpy, I haven't yet figured out why (not enough time yet to look at it this week)

I mean the best ROM for ordinary use. and the ROM can support Arabic or Persian language support for messages
Stock
This Pico just have 512MB ROM and left about 100 for you, if you want more space just partition SD card as internal memory, but you won't be able to remove SD card or you will lose data.
and Rom... I totally forget which support your language, but I know there is a stock Arabic.
Sent from HTC One max
use Walkman Sense Build 5 it fits into NAND and Smooth to.but if u want to increase internal memory u have to install it on u r sdcard.
CM11
Try CM11 by galaxyfreak.. it is superb

cm9 is the best I've ever come across.

As this is effectively another best ROM thread, I'm closing this one before it goes any further.
We don't allow these kinds of threads because they can easily can arguments between users of different ROMs and it can quickly get out of hand.
If you want to know which ROM is the most stable, the best way to find out is to test them out by yourself. That way you'll know exactly how stable the ROM is considering someone else's opinion on "stable" could be different to yours.
We're also not here to spoonfeed members the answers. Obviously we don't mind people asking questions but the answer to this question could/should easily be found out by you testing them

[Completed] Using 64GB microSD card with android

hey all,
i have a generic 64GB class 10 micro SD card and am trying to use it with HTC Desire HD running CM7 last nightly version. sd card came in exFAT format, which apparently only few phones support. I have reformatted it to FAT32, but learned that max size for it is 32GB. however it still mounted and appeared.
my problem is when using camera to record video, about 30 secs in i get message saying 'please insert sd card before using camera'. this dismounts the sd. thats the guaranteed way of testing. also sometimes when downloading big files from market, it also dismounts. seems any major writing to card does that. otherwise it seems to work properly. is there any way of fixing this?
so far i have tried:
using phone and computer
-reformat to FAT32
using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition
- making 2 partitions FAT32, 32GB each
- making 1 big FAT32 partition, 1 small ex4
- making 1 big FAT32, 1 smaller ex4, 1 smaller swap partition, then using link2SD to build mount script.
any help would be helpful
thanks
Hi,
I'm not sure but I'm afraid that HTC Desire HD with CM7 cannot support this size of sdcard, 32Gb will be better.
I haven't found anything about this type of problem, but if you want you can try to post your request here => > HTC Desire HD > Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Maybe this thread can help you => HTC Desire HD > Desire HD Accessories > SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC

so is it that there is no supported kernel for DHD, or that its android's fault?
also i wouldnt mind having 32GB in that 64GB card. any way of just making that partition work, and ignore the rest?
I'm really sorry, but I must remind you that Xda Assist is not a support forum.
I gave you in my first post a link to post your request. I invite you to go for having answers about your problem with some another RC's who take the time to give you more technical informations.
Thanks in advance and good luck

I may end up having to look for another...I hope not.
I am very satisfied with the VenomROM but am finding out today it is not completely compatible with the boost k2_cl.
funny thing is, I love it and am only having one small issue with it that can be found in the Q&A thread for the VenomROM.
If you find any ROM's you like... Please share. Thank You =)

there are no custom roms created for "K2_CL - Boost" variant.. if its an appearance thing "Themer" can change the appearance for you.. if its all the bloatware i ended up using Rom Cleaner for HTC One X found here.. the applications are the same but i had to add some extra Boost only apps in my list ~35.. after that i extended my internal partition onto my external sd card using "Partition Wizard" to create the ext4 partition that was needed to mimic the internal partition.. then used an app called "link2sd" to move all the apps/data to the extended partition leaving me with only 10mb of used space on my internal partition.. more information on extending your internal partition can be found here
