Hello all. OK I am a new user to XDA however I have both the Galaxy Tab 2 7 and Infuse 4g running CM9 and the HTC Amaze running Energy rom. Anyways my question is that for CM10 on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, will there be any way that apps can be move to the external sd without having to use GL to Sd card? I have a 16gb sd card and my tab internal memory is 8. I have looked at the CM10 for the gtab 2 7.0 and haven't found any answers. So can someone give me an answer. I want to flash CM10 and need to know if I can do it. If anyone wants to critique my spelling and grimmer, go ahead however, this is not school nor and none of us are perfect writers. Anyways if anyone can answer my question I would be very grateful.
P.S. I am not no noob or newbie whatsoever when it comes to rooting and flashing phones. I have starting flashing devices since last year with Huawei Ascend from Froyo to CM7 gingerbread. Rooted Samsung Admire and Samsung Captivate and flashed (bricked a few times) Samsung Infuse 4 from stock to various roms to finally CM9 android 4.0.4. Right now my active devices are both my HTC Amaze and Galaxy tab 2 7.0 wifi only running CM9. I know it is irrelevant. :good:
Link2SD
Think you have to partition the SD card to primary first , sorry not tried/used it . Hopefully someone can explain better than me ?
Off topic :
If all people can do is correct your spelling and not offer valid help ....F**k 'em ! I can never understand why people feel the urge to do that , it's childish and not really helpful to the question that is asked.
Sean
When they do try and correct someone I laugh at them. I been a visitor to this site since last year when I started to flash, root, etc.. It is like we all supposed to know to spell every word every created. No of us are perfect but it doesn't bother me at all. It is just funny though
I tired using Link2sd but that doesn't work. I do love what I hear from development on CM10 but I dont want to flash it yet unless you can move apps to external Sd card. I wonder is there a script or something I can flash thru Clockwork as a zip or do I have to push a file thru ADB
Ah Ok my bad ...It doesn't work on CM10 .Sorry about that rchad28 , did say i never tried it. Hope you find a solution soon tho !
Yeah a Grammar Nazi is just a troll that thinks it a bad ass lol .
Thanks Sean, yeah since I did not see a fix for CM9 just want wondering if there is APP to sd capabilities. But it all good. I will continue searching for my answers.

Hello, I am in need of a little help. I am a complete noob to android and have no idea really how the system works. I have a Samsung Galaxy S and have decided to root my phone for 2 reasons.. ap2sd and so I can install the lag fix. I have done a bit of reading and chosen the path I wish to take but would like some assurance and pointers. I am also unsure of: If I root my phone does this automatically mean that with a properly partitioned sd card that I can store apps 2 sd or do I still need to flash the handset with a new ROM and if so there I am stuck... I do not know where to begin with searching for the best ROM for me. Also I would like to know if after i've done this will the handset still be able to receive the official updates or will I just need to keep updating it myself!
Here is the rundown as far as i have got so far...
Samsung Galaxy S I9000/XXJF3 Updated!
All the programs for XP i need are downloaded (eg.net3.5/4, samsung drivers)
The root method I thought was best for me was that of TGA_Gunman
The lag fix I had chosen is by Chainfire
I have still to back up the original ROM with ClockWorkMod (Is this easy to do and if I need to use it will it bring me completely back to my original settings for warranty purposes, or is there other things I would need to do?)
Also could someone provide me with a link to the best noob proof SD partitioning method!!
Is there anything I'm missing here, or anything that could be done a better way!! Any and all pointers will be much appreciated....
P.s. I would be wanting to update to the official froyo update when it's available will this cause me problems and if so what must I do!
Thanks in advance
ANDROID NOOB
I don't know much about the galaxy s, but you might be better off asking this in the Galaxy S forum.

Yeah I read the rules to the forum and it does say that this is the best place to get questions answered... obviously not!!!!.... Thanks for the pointer I will copy and paste it there and see what happens!!
I'm sorry if i'm reposting the same thing and i do know that a lot of ppl are getting yelled at for this but I'm really ignorant about this android operating system... i don't know what it is... i don't know what rooting is... or whats the difference between froyo and eclair... Like I've mentioned earlier i don't know anything about this except for the fact that i just bought a new Samsung galaxy S captivate... If anyone can help plz do cause i am lost to no end... Thank you very much...
Rooting gives you administrative control over your phone and allows you to flash custom versions of Android. It basically allows you to have much more control over what you can do on your phone. Froyo, Eclair, etc are the names given to different versions of Android. Eclair is 2.1, Froyo 2.2, and Gingerbread 2.3.
Ohhh... well i think i i root my phone and is currently running eclair but i am trying to run froyo on it... how can i get there.... i'v dont some research on this forum and YouTube lol but the links they give me all came back as dead links... and installing froyo with cognitive is very confusing because the package that i have to install is a lot more than the elair... am i stating this correctly or am i just lost period... LOl thank you for your reply..
stay at version 2.1 eclair and get darkys v9.0.2 the best by far, its a custom rom and is amazingly fast. its easier todo if your on 2.1. so uprgrade to darkys rom. type in darkys rom. and itt has full instructions for noobs
i think the main reason for me to update is because i want to run skype... other then that i love eclair... i don't mind it at all... but for some reason skype only works on 2.2 firmware...
Im new to android too ... I just got my htc legend. The problem is i believe its under "vodafone" branding because everytime i switch my phone on the vodafone logo shows up. So the first i want to do is to remove this ... Can you please help me put here ?
hahha ive just sent my back to the guy i bought it off as mine was unlocked but vodafone branded. i hate it wen they do this. sometimes they even put vodafone stickers on the fone, its so annoying. am not entirerly sure to be fair. maybe reflash the phone . not sure mate
^ Oh man.... i completely new to this ! How can i tell if my phone is in unlocked condition or not ?
And how do i reflash it?
'you're in the right place, give it a couple of weeks and in no time you will be rooting ROMing and modifying like a pro. take it from me who knew nothing about the Android OS and now I'm up there.

I read somewhere in the rules for xda, you should search before posting question
Anyhow, this is a starting point. I don't have the Captivate but I am sure there are many more topics about your phone.

Hi everyone,
Althought i just have one post here , i been using this forum almost every day from the time i register for the first time...
Now i have got my Tab Plus, and i was disapointed about the "NO ICS YET" for this device.
I am no expert on android, but i want to ask something... can you use an HC kernel on ICS???
If so are we able to use that kernel with the HC wireless driver on and ICS release?
What about some developer boards from samsung? i have been looking at odroid but it runs a broadcom wireless card....
does anyone know if there is a diffrent manufactor that by miracle would have an atheros wireless card?
the CM porting is going well as i can see... lets bring shame on samasung developers, lets bring out ICS before they do... ahahahahh ( i mean an fully working ICS )
I know that is not an easy task!!!
NOTE: IF THIS TOPIC IS OUT OF PLACE PLEASE MOVE IT TO THE CORRECT ONE.
Thank you
Dude, if u decide to help, just try it by yourself, i think our first and only dev for porting cm9 *aorth* is doing everything possible to kick samsungs ass
Ive been following this thread since post 1 and iam so close to flash and help him! Its just the thing that i dont have another phone for work...

Since i hadnt already,i wanted to post and say hi to all the I727 owners here.Had phone for two months about, now.Great thread to have thanks for having me.Im going to try to use the search function as much as i can now. There are so many posts here,i cant beleive it..Pretty much every question that can be asked is here..
About me. Im a computer guy, just starting to get into mobile devices.
Rooted my first Android only about a year and a half ago using easy methods.
Now have a Skyrocket and of course i love it.A member here helped me flash ics,but for a couple reasons (mainly noob reasons) i flashed back to 2.3.5
Just experimenting with cwm for the first time.Made a recovery.
All i have is stock 2.3.5 rooted with SPB 3d which im sure to alot of you guys here is lame, but i really think its awesome and my fiance loves it..
If i were to ask for help,i guess i would ask what the most efficient way to take what i have backed up, with spb and 2.3.5 and upgrade to 2.3.6 unless its not really worth it..Ive heard there are many differences between .5 and .6 tho...
Or just directions to the 2.3.6 update thread Im really confused by what all the stuff means..Im still reading some begginners stuff a guy sent me.
Anyways,thank you for having me
Welcome! We're glad to have you.

I believe this is one of the last few links we have for 2.3.6 in a stock form that is cwm flash able. I am sure there is another link somewhere but it is buried under two and a half months of roms in the dev section. Besides its your phone. Put whatever apps or launchers you want on it.

I'm sorry I'm on my cell, I cannot see the link you are refferring to.and thanks again hazard

Here is link to the 2.3.6 rom. First link does not work but I believe the mirrored link does. The modem zip is also below so you can flash that to.
First of all please accept my apologies if I am posting in the incorrect site location - this isn't the most user friendly site I've ever come across, but it is definately helpful to to get help from you friendly and helpful people!
I've just purchased a Galaxy Note 2 (N7105 Vodafone Australia). I've managed to unlock, root and install TWRP perfectly.
My problem is that I've tried three different custom roms (and made donations to say thanks) in the last few days and none of them seem to work properly with the s pen. The three roms I've tried are Cyanogen, Android Revolution and Omega (in that order). All three of these roms seem great, until I take out the s pen....
The only one of these three roms that will even recognise when the pen touches the screen is Cyanogen (which is the only of the three roms that don't come with the samsung s pen apps). Both Android Revolution and Omega came with the s pen apps pre-installed, but don't seem to work with the s pen at all?? Am I doing something wrong? Are there s pen drivers or something that I need to install? Omega is currently installed and it does vibrate and make a noise when I remove the pen from the dock, but does nothing when the pen touches the screen.
Another thing to note before anyone tries installing these roms on this device is that, after installing Android Revolution or Omega, the phone has no reception and says sim isn't installed. I managed to correct this on Android Revolution by installing the modem driver on top of the rom - this took me a day or two to figure out it was the issue and how to fix! But it doesn't seem to fix the problem with Omega rom, which is my favourite (apart from the problems listed).
I know its a pretty new phone and therefore there aren't many tried and tested roms, but the three I've tried are pretty common so I was expecting more information about them online than what I've found. Any assistance or advice in relation to getting the s pen to function and the phone to recognise the sim card on Omega v13 with my N7105 would be greatly appreciated. If I can't fix this pretty quickly I'm going back to stock rom until there's more info out there about roms that work with the N7105.
thanks
No mistake posting here but since note 2 has a dedicated forum, you should ask it there.

Hey not sure if you found what you were looking for over in the Note II forum or not but it sounds to me like you are flashing the wrong ROM. I had similar issues with the SIM not being recognized on my Note II. I was trying the same ROMs you mentioned. Make sure the ROM you are flashing is for the exact model phone you have. Also, some ROMs will require you to flash the correct radio for your carrier.
Definitely head over to the Note II forum to find more specific information but keep those things in mind! Hope this helps!

Thanks. Somebody PM'd me with a link to a few Note 2 roms - but the forum won't let me post it because I'm too new of a member. If anyone needs it just PM me.
I'm trying Aroma, but am now havings issues with TWRP seeing the zip file... I'm still trying - currently copying the zip to the TWRP folder on the sd card because I've found some forums about TWRP reading zips from internal storage. I've also had issues with Clockworkmod on this Note 2, so would rather not have to go back to it. Clockworkmod worked well for me for years on my old trusty HTC Desire HD, but really made a mess of the Note 2... I've only had this phone 8 days and had sooo many issues with just trying to get a custom rom running!! Even if this works, its only Android 4.1.2 - Whereas I've got 4.2.1 running smooth as butter on a two year old HTC
hmmm

Cool deal. I hope you get it worked out. That is strange that Clockwordmod is giving you issues. That is what I use and it has treated me well. Maybe it has to do with the difference in hardware since I have the US AT&T version? Good luck!
