I'm not ready to loose the FM Radio functionality from the stock ROM yet. So I am looking for themes for stock ROM.
Do the Droid 2 ones work ?
Just a heads up you can use a custom rom and put the FM radio on it, if the rom doesn't already have it.
And I don't think the Droid 2 Themes will work for the Droid X, someone correct me if I'm wrong (which I may very well be).

really ? i think somebody said that FMRadio wasn't working yet.
I would actually like to know as well. I recently went back to stock and removed bloat manually. I got tired of using roms that are buggy and incomplete as most of them are.
With a stock image everything just works as it should; and honestly I dont see that much of a speed increase as everyone else says.
Ive used Fission, Apex, and tranquility. It was nice seeing things more stock android, but I actually like everything working as it should. lol
All I really want is a nice black status bar with transparent shade for stock 2.3.15.
I was hoping for something in an easy update.zip
There are a multitude of themes in this section for Froyo. Some do the update.zip routine, others are just replacements of framework & services.
However, they aren't on the 'first page' because the focus (no pun intended) has been on focused and fission lately. Just scan back a couple of pages and you will find plenty of replacement notification bars, etc.
Thanks. Ill keep digging. I wish their was a page with all the themes for the different roms laid out. Or maybe just some sub categories for themes based on the rom.

Hello,
I'm just curious what people are running because I'm currently using fission 2.4.3 and I'm looking for something else. So what are you running on your D2G?
That's all there is on the d2g right now, that and stock. I personally wouldn't go back to stock even if they paid me.

Not a lot of options for us yet, so Fission here as well.
Fortunately Fission is not only far better than stock it also seems pretty good, period.
Before I put Fission on mine I was slightly regretting getting the new one: my Droid is better than the stock D2G- and 50Mhz faster too.
With Fission- yeah, the hardware junkie part of me may not be able to do too much yet, but the phone IS smoother and faster than the heavily modified Droid- and has global capability.
We will get more roms to choose from before long, I'm sure.

What's Fission missing that you are looking for?
Talk to me...I can help
Its not that its really missing anything. I used the blackout theme and really enjoyed the rom. But I was having battery /heat issues I'm not really sure why but it seems like it is not a common problem.
Last night I went back to the stock rom because of it.

Before my D2G I had (still have) my Droid 1. It was running Chevy01 Simply Stunning ROM. One cool feature of his rom was music controls with the screen off.
With screen off
Camera Button was Pause/Play
Volume up and down is stock but long press of volume up is next track and long press of volume down is previous track
AngDroid, what do you think, maybe something in the future?

I heard that Tranquility was coming... Droid 2 Global is getting seriously overlooked.
Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, how do I get past "Junior Member"? Some number of posts I'm assuming? Makes me feel like a n00b to see Junior whenever I post
I'm using fission w/ the third eye theme and loving it. Was able to get things pretty much how and where I want them with just the theme and launcher pro.

I am running stock, yes I know - boring.
But I love that dialer which has both portrait and landscape modes and lookup mode, damn it is good (one thing well done Motorola!) I wish we could port it out as independent app. Another thing I like in stock rom is the car doc/desk dock apps. Launcher isn't that bad either.
Help! I tried Liberty and it got stuck in airplane mode.
I reinstalled the original ROM but parts of Liberty still seem to be in the system as when I boot I get the Liberty logo before it moves on to the stock ROM logo.
Someone please tell me where I can get a good stock ROM and how to USB push it to my phone. Liberty must be mucking up my phone as dialer won't stay open.
Anyone... Please...

Otherwise, if you dont have a nandroid backup...your going to have to SBF
I had the same problem as everyone else.
I'm running Stock Rom, with Modifications that took a lot of searching. I Manually Deodex, and now I'm looking into theming. I like Moto Blur, It has a lot of benefits. So I'm in the Learning stages, and hopefully I can acquire the skills to accomplish Development in the near future.
Before you say that I shouldn't whine for things and that I should try something myself before I beg for something, I have something to say. I've been going a whole week at this trying to somehow port this beautiful MIUI rom to the Aria. I have tried theme porter by taking a translated MIUI rom for another android device and I tried to use attn1's CM 6 rom and try to swap things here and there to make an aesthetically pleasing rom, but when I tried to flash, no luck. Nothing happened. Yet, I saw someone else do this for G1, but I am a novice, not like I know a lot about porting. I know a big problem is that MIUI is for HDPI devices, and I tried to convert but was met with meager success. Now, my request is that maybe someone like attn1 or another android rom expert port MIUI to the Aria. Like I said, I attempted my best but was met with little success. The best I could do was create a pseudo MIUI launcher system, still need to work on the dock.
Here is how my Aria is set up right now (launcher only)
i56(dot)tinypic(dot)com/2uib12c(dot)png (darn picture restriction)
I also have the iphone lock screen and keyboard, lets face it, iOS is more aesthetically pleasing while android is all about the user and customization. This is the very reason I want MIUI, a great bridge taking the best of both worlds.
MIUI would be fun to mess around with. However, the Aria does not have a huge set of developer support. And I don't think that Attn1 is willing to devote the effort required to port MIUI to our phone.
I've been trying to do the same. Except I have an incredible too, that has miui on it, that I've been trying to port it from.
The only problem is the framework and mdpi issues. Its gonna take some time to get this successfully running.
Sent from my incredible Incredible.
i personally only want miui for the toolbar, many home screens, and some of the built in apps. I do not howerver want the app icons and iosy look.
btx here are some devs working on putting this on another mdpi device... the hero, our good old htc cousin...

G1 has no miui rom. They have a WIP going on though... see here for details

So r u saying that we fan flash g1 roms?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
No you can't flash g1 roms because the hardware is entirely different, but the screen size and resolution is the same between them so as far as porting a rom goes, its a better place to start than a rom for something like an evo.

So..
I'm guessing it either can't be done or the task is way too tedious for a ROM that pretty much might be overshadowed by CM 7 (2.3 if we get that)

I have been looking around for an insentive to root my driod x, the incentive im looking for is a good ROM with good themes. However i can not find one. Im looking for something either sense like, Iphone like, or just a very different style thats not like the regular stock ROM or like ADB/Launches Pro.
So why should i Root? if you know any good themes or Roms please post links to them.
if u dont know why u should root maybe u shouldnt...
but id go with rubiX or liberty 1.5
right now im rockin liberty on my droid x, and i just flashed my wifes droid 2 on liberty...
there was a very long thread on this actually. it amazes me that people dont use the search option. and computer dreams is right, if you dont know what it does, you shouldnt do it. plus this should be in the general section since its neither a theme, nor an app.
root?
I also agree with computer dreams. You should do as much research as possible. There is so much you can do with the DX after rooting. Rubix is an excellent choice for a ROM as well. Smooth, fast, and has different themes. Know what you are doing before attempting. This can all be as easy or as hard as you decide to make it.

On the stock Motorola camera app, we have the option to take HDR pics. However, when I installed the newer google camera app the HDR option is gone. Anyone know why? Is it possible to get it back?
It's only available for certain phones and the xt926 isn't one of them.

Isn't it strange that it was available, but then removed? I wonder what the purpose was.

It never was available in the Google camera that I know of for this phone. That's one of the reasons I never made it my daily camera and continued to use the stock camera.
It's still there in the stock camera from Motorola.

How do you install the "stock Motorola camera" in CM? Is there an APK or flashable zip? I know there is the moto camera on the playstore, but I think it shows our HDs as "incompatible"..

I haven't tried it yet, but it may be possible to side load it from our Stock rom. Just have to find the app file with root explorer, save it to SD, and then try and drag it into the app folder.

You can't right now AFAIK. It requires too many non-AOSP components (in other words, Motorola components like gallery and others). I supposed you could copy the stock APKs out of a stock image flashed on your phone for both the camera and gallery APKs and then in CM, copy these to the /system/app directory, reboot and see what happens. Worse that will happen is they won't work. But, I'm pretty sure they are compiled against other "libraries" that are not in the AOSP image which is what CM11 is compiled off of.

Now you have me confused - didn't you say you utilize stock motorola as your daily camera? How do you do that when running CM11 then?
Don't tell me you are flashing back and forth when you want to take a picture or did I just mix things up here?
I found this thread in the meantime - will try once I get home from work:

Sorry about that. That was when I wasn't on CM11 but on stock. Now that I'm on CM11, I've been searching around for HD cameras from the Play store. One that I'm currently looking at is called "A Better Camera" which has HD mode built in. It's free and if you want other add ons, you can purchase them piece by piece (more controls for HDR colors, high resolution panorama - you already get panaroma mode but not in HDR, group shots, moving objects, etc). For $6.99, you can unlock all those premium features forever or purchase the ones you want for $2.99 a piece if you only a want one or two of them.
So far, seems to be a pretty good camera and just out of the box for free, it offers a whole lot of options that most other cameras would require you to purchase.
Once really nice feature I like about this camera is it does allow you to specify to save your photos to your external SD card and it works under CM11.
Speaking of cameras, I've noticed that the quality of the images I take using cm11 are very noticeably inferior to the stock kit kat images. Is that an OS issue, or the camera app that's installed? I'm using the stock Google camera.

I have no proof for it and my stock days are already a year back, but I swear that any custom rom introduces a "purple haze" to the center of my lense and I also subjectively consider the stock camera quality better.. now for a snap here and there it is ok and never bothered me enough to go back to stock, but I think it is noticeable. I think one chap also posted factual comparison between stock and AOSP.
Probably Motorola knows better how to tweak their camera or whatever.. I don't know.
