What is needed if you want this on your device:
- phone need to be s-off + rooted
- you need recovery to install this
- you need to create 2 partitions on your sd card using an tool like "MiniTool Partition Wizard" (first partition need to be primary fat32 and seccond need to be primary ext4 (becouse I enabled apps2sd))! Do not create extended partition, all must be primary or instalation will be unsucesfull!!!
- install recovery and wipe everything using recovery (boot, sd-ext, cache, data, system)
- delete all android folders from your sd card and copy zip to sd card
- than install rom zip using recovery
After installing and runing your new rom:
- go to settings/aplication/all/google service framework and force stop + clear data!
- go to settings/aplication/all/settings and clear data!
- reboot!
What working:
- apps2sd enabled, cpu owerclock is default set to interactive|245min|806max
- video working, camera, camcorder, wifi, gps, bluetooth, data...
What not working:
- I don't know, please let me know
Kernel chagelog:
EDIT 20.Feb.2012:
- added nand partition (full nand size part) so you can dump whole nand
- enabled swap
- fixed lightsensor levels
- owerclocked video hw for better response
- some kernel fixes
- added cpu governors (SCARY, SAVAGEDZEN, SMARTASS and SMARTASS2)
EDIT 02.Mar.2012:
- reenabled interactive governor
- some changes in power management (now smallest battery drain!)
- 13 cpu frequencies (including 19mhz)
EDIT 09.Mar.2012:
- zram module added (will create init script in next update)
- genirq: pm: Fix the enable ordering in resume
How to install? Simple go to recovery, erase boot, flash boot_update.zip from attachment. Kernel is compatible with cm7! Please let me know how it working in your device!
Enjoy with CM7 + GoLauncher

Ahh some competition ehh? ;D

Sweet. I like options specially being that ive never tried go launcher. I'll have to try this out...a crazy thought......I wish somebody would whip up some kernel action. Just a thought for you devs out there.

Kernel is updated, see first post!

Anyone tried updated kernel?

I did. Installed over CM7.2 KANG 2012-02-20 build. I wanted to try Smartass and Smartass2 governors. No improved battery life noticed, but i'm too lazy to uninstall it and as no bugs discovered so far i currently live with this kernel

ext4 partition size?

Do you have a suggestion on how large to make the primary ext4 partition for apps2sd? Thanks.

How large? Its based on your needs!
New boot image updated... see changelog on first page!

So Im on the new nightly and would like to try your kernel. so do I format boot in recovery and flash the download? or cant I just wipe cache and dalvik then flash your boot_image file? thxs.

initial repo from here -> https://github.com/CyanogenMod/htc-kernel-msm7227 and patch in attachment + files... maybe this changes will work better in your kernel? What battery current value is in sleep mode in your kernel?

Thxs....just to clarify, there is no clear boot option in CW. Sorry that im a knuckle head & not getting this. Just excited 2 try new kernel, munjeni. There's A format boot option so I tried that and flashed the zip and it boot looped. Never booted up. Back to my nandriod . Well hellooo Mr. Drowningchild!! Nice to see that your going to maybe implicate some cool changes in your kernel. Hope it works out.

ok, but its boot update for cm 7.2! If you want, maybe try to replace init.d folder from my aria cm build and try if it will boot? In any way I have plan to create new custom build with go launcher + latest cm7. Whats new in cm7 rc2 ?

Rc2 nightly? not much but I do wanna say that I'm loving your kernel. Running 128/806 MHz on smartassV2. I finally got rid off setcpu and finally have a phone that goes to sleep in screen off. Also no lag after an hour say when the phone rings from screen off. Currently on rc2 newest nightly.

Thanks dude, from your "plot" I see there is unused frequencies, for example 128mhz (i think some frequencies not exist!), 19mhz and 864 working but device sometimes rebooting phone so I will play with 19 and 864 (will try to see what frequency cause device reboot)....etc, but "sleep mode" is 70% good now (in a morning when I wakeup my device I seen 4mA battery current value so its good thing, device going to deep sleep mode!) but other 30% (for example when device go to sleep for 5 minutes, when I wake up device, current value is 50mA so it mean is not in deep sleep becouse some of "components" is not in sleep mode...etc... will try to fix that 30% things about...
In any way its better than before, battery drain in sleep mode after "night to morning" is about 5% of the capacity, so its very good

I have to say....i've totally ditched launcher pro for go launcher. after you set up go launcher.....yeah it takes a bit but its just like launcher pro but much more options. so its worth it. also, no more crappy reboots and have to force close LP. go launcher has some nifty widgets too with SUPPORT. i think the launcher pro dude took a long deep vacation. Gonna flash this ROM on my wifes being that i got her a new aria. . im a cheaP a$$. keep you guys posted.

Kernel updated, changelog is in first page

zram -doesnt- need to be build as a module, built in works fine for our device
and you shouldnt need a script for it there already is one, 'compcache' in /bin and cmsettings.
the only thing i see for a change there would be the swappiness, defaults to 30, which from what ive always seen was it was being unused

The only issue i am having is play market wont download or update apps. My mom and wife both on same wifi have no problems. Im not sure if its this rom or what. Other data works fine.

Yes, its something about enabled apps2sd but problem fixed when you go to applications/all/google service framework/force stop/clean data/reboot

[ MOD ] Custom MTD Partitions by Firerat (resize Cache, Data & System)

This thread is based on Firerat's work, just modded a little to be more specific for the EVO, so be sure to thank him for his work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874
I modded the script so a default of 250MB for system & 125MB for cache(leaves ~570MB for data) is included, so the mtdpartmap.txt in the SD card is not required unless you want to change those. If a mtdpartmap.txt is detected in the SD card during flash, it will overwrite those defaults values with whatever is in the mtdpartmap.txt.
For those that want to change the default values, just mod the attached mtdpartmap.txt
S-OFF is required
This is not for the faint of heart and requires how to flash using fastboot if you want to revert back to stock partition sizes, so if your not comfortable with ANY of the install & uninstall steps below, DO NOT FLASH THIS!!!
Be sure to check how much space your current ROM uses in the system & cache partitions before flashing this, so that way you don't cause problems with this MOD
Most de-odex'd ROMs should be fine with a 250MB system partition but those that are using a Desire HD/Z based ROM might need 300MB or slightly more, so be sure to double check your current system/cache usage before flashing
Also, too small of a cache partition will cause errors with some games & downloading of OTA updates as it uses the cache partition as the download folder
Install
1. Copy FR_Boot_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO, FR_Recovery_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO, FORMAT_ALL zips(& custom mtdpartmap.txt if you want to change the default sizes) to your SD card
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Make a Nandroid backup if you didn't already
4. Format cache, data & system partitions using my FORMAT_ALL.zip for ease
6. Flash FR_Recovery_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO.zip(this patches the recovery to use the custom partition sizes)
7. Reboot into recovery again
8. Restore Nandroid backup or flash new ROM but don't reboot
9. Flash FR_Boot_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO.zip(this patches the kernel to load the custom partition sizes)
10. Reboot
NOTE
Everytime you flash a new ROM or kernel, you must flash the FR_Boot_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO.zip afterwards, so the kernel gets modded to load the custom partition sizes
Uninstall
1. Make a Nandroid backup if you didn't already
2. Boot into Bootloader and select Fastboot USB
3. Reflash custom recovery console using Fastboot
Code:
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4. Reboot into recovery
5. Format cache, data & system partitions using my FORMAT_ALL.zip for ease
6. Restore Nandroid backup or flash new ROM, if the restore contains a kernel that has modded partition sizes, then reflash the kernel
7. Reboot
Examples
Default 250/125 settings leaves this much on wipe

so besides the increase in available data space, is there any performance advantages?
No real advantages besides that you regain all the lost space from the cache & system partitions

Thats the thing more space= Faster performance cause its not lagging trying to scoop up memory for stuff
Calk,
Do we have to do this all the time before a new rom or is it gonna b in there all the time?

If your low on memory, then I can see some performance increases but I guess I'll have to do a before and after benchmark to see for sure.

If it contains a kernel, then yes you do need to flash the boot zip one to mod the new kernel again
wow. that is all.

Amazing work Calkulin! I am going to test this on mIuI.
Thank you Calk. I was just looking into this thread over on the G1 forums. This is going to come in very handy.
What recovery is the custom recovery based on?
EDIT
NM: Reading comprehension problems. Now I see that it patches the recovery. My other question is do you guys think resizing and creating a swap partition would be beneficial? I already have a lot of free space on /data after moving dalvik-cache to /cache.
Thanks Calk.
Just flashed this, nand restored, and I have 100+ mb available.
Edit: I have about 100mb MORE available than before making this mod on the same ROM/kernel combination.
seems very ricky lol sorry but i have bricked 2 evos lol from not listening to what a guide says and trying my way lol
it would be really cool if someone made a tut and put it on utube or something there needs to be more vids on there of evo any way and no junkphone i mean iphone lol

Based on HTC Magic/32A Éclair Sense ROM
v2.5 Changelog
Moved CPU values to /data/tweaks/cpu
Now using apks from WWE Hero ROM, making this a hybrid ROM so name changed to Fusion Sense.
New bugless and faster kernel, thanks to laszlo!
IMPORTANT: As of v2.5 you need to flash cMTD Setup 1.1.
v2.1 Changelog
Moved CPU values to /data/cpu
Better swap, should help with memory management, multitasking, messaging problems.
v2 Changelog:
New base, includes enhanced Peep.
CPU Manager script that changes the governor, max, and min frequencies upon screen off and screen on. Look at second post for more details.
v1 Features:
Apps and dalvik cache to sdcard (EXT4)
Working Camera
Crossed over framework from Gingerbread Sense.
Mostly stock but removed Rogers bloateare and Maps. Maps is downloadable from the Market.
What doesn't work:
Camcorder
Bluetooth
Landscape home screen
REQUIREMENTS:
2708/2528 RADIO AND 1.33.0013d IS A MUST!!!
Swap with 96 MB or more. 256 recommended. No swap will make it very very slow. 5 mins to load homescreen without swap.
EXT4 partition.
HOW TO INSTALL:
BOOT INTO RECOVERY.
Flash MTD 150 file
Restart phone and wipe everything.
Flash ROM and reboot.
OPTIONAL: Use Autokiller to adjust minfree settings but I already included my own minfree settings.
VERY IMPORTANT:
On first boot, Sense launcher may not load properly or will be loading forever. This is caused by the lack of ram. To solve this issue:
1. Pull down notification bar.
2. Go to Advanced Task Killer.
3. In ATK, go to Settings.
4. Set Security Level to low.
5. Go home.
6. Go back to ATK.
7. Hold your finger on com.HTC.launcher and go to Force Stop/Details.
8. You will be at another window, click Clear Data.
9. Go back to ATK, kill every process.
10. Go home and the launcher should reload properly.
DOWNLOAD LINK: CLICK HERE
BTW: I am not responsible for any damages or bricks although if you can flash this, you are past that point.
Thanks and enjoy!
Details on the CPU Managing script:
Taken from RaduG's Froyo Sense rom and changed it so that the user can change it without messing things up.
THERE IS NO NEED TO USE SetCPU, IT WILL STOP THE CPU MANAGING SCRIPT FROM WORKING!
Default Settings:
Screen on: 528MHz/245MHz with interactive governor.
Screen off: 245MHz/122MHz with ondemand governor.
These values can be changed by editing the following files:
Screen ON settings:
/data/tweaks/CPU/screenON/governor
/data/tweaks/CPU/screenON/max
/data/tweaks/CPU/screenON/min
Screen OFF settings:
/data/tweaks/CPU/screenOFF/governor
/data/tweaks/CPU/screenOFF/max
/data/tweaks/CPU/screenOFF/min

Okay guys I've replicated your problem with my G1. If you have Firerat's customMTD mod, remove it. There is no need for it.
How to remove:

Download FR-remove zip from:http://www.mediafire.com/?lifib6a9ptj5j#0,1
Flash FR-remove package.
Flash my rom
See if it works.

probably it doesnt works with G2 32b
initially it was blazing fast...but eventually slowed down...but still the best hero out there for g1...thankx
Edit: those who are having problem with g1...you dont need hboot-1.33.0013d.img just flash the ezBiffTestKernel20110222-2708_S.zip after you flash the rom ( before rebooting)
and if the roms starts to slow down...use the autokiller memory tool....
Take out sim card before you install via recovery, and leave it out for first boot You may put the sim card back in after you set up everything properly over wifi.
Hey I tried flashing this to Mytouch 1.2 and it didn't boot! Just stuck on splash screen!

If you like this rom don't forget to "thanks" me :>
Additional Packages:
Original Froyo Font
No Bootlog
ICS GenieWidget ( news and meteo )
Set CM PowerWidget App
Notes:
To make widget works had to change many lines of code inside many system files, including framework; long story short: you can't change the theme of this rom, if you don't like it choose another one, also don't ask for any theme related change.

Looks good, might give it a try after I try the 0.9 version of DJDroid.
Plz keep updating this page as well, i think most users can't understand italian.

Now you can use link2sd without second partition
added new freq, modded governor and many other stuff.. check changelog on first page

added on main post a small patch to reenable ext4 and ipv6 ( needed by goggles )
apologize for any inconvenience this have caused
edit: if it reboots it's cause your cpu doesn't support that high freq, try to lower it , not every cpu supports it
thanks...
one more thing... i can't install gtalk... from market or .apk that i get from somewhere on this site... install it normally or push it via adb, it's not installed.
Hello, thanks for your feedbacks
Gtalk probably doesn't install cos the one you found isn't signed properly.
You could push it in system/app or sign it and adb install it normally.
If you still have any issue i'll upload it for you, just checked and it works normally.

i installed it from market... no success...
could you gimme link that can teach me how to sign an apk?
hello this is a nice read to learn how to sign an app:
http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/app-signing.html.
I've uploaded for you and whoever needs an archive with all the latest Gapps missing in the rom plus some few other interesting apps. It's just an archive don't try to flash it via recovery. As for your problem, try the talk.apk inside it.
edit: Link on main page
Adobe flash!! Realy!!!possible!????
not yet man, it's on the "todo" list, i'm workin on it, it could work sometimes in the future or not, who knows. market works like a charm, so does link2vfs, so let's see what can we do with flash.

You seem to take things way up the level...keep it up. Iam downloading ur rom...i knw dat armv6 has enuogh power to run flash maybe jst tweaks or mods! And wow over 4000video apps....amazing!
i'm not that crazy man i'm trying to make at least flash lite working, no chance for the full version as we got armv6 cpu, my goal is at least to have a chance to use those sites with small flash components, to buy a ticket, to check latest footbal scores, to play small games fx. Also tried few flash opensource but they just don't do the job.
Thank you for trying this rom

Agree somethng better then nothng..btw iam not gting 4000 above apps in market for video????got like 2955 apps(stil more then ever b4 this i had like 2200 max!)
could be a country related issue, but the important thing is that you can see the high res app, the ones that needs a qvga++ res, like skyfire or icq, that's what the unlock in mainly meant for
Hello, Thanks for sharing the g apps ! i'll try to push it later since i'm using the device for wifi tethering
Anyway, this is such an incredible ROM! Three days using it on my c8150... incredibly fast and stable !
Sent from my Galaxy5 using XDA Premium App

Notes:
JellyBean is very big, therefore ext partition on SD card is required - part of the system and most of the gapps is installed there.
You can find instructions on how to resize fat and create ext partition directly in OpenRecovery in this very fine guide by pontomedon:
Full guide from stock Motorola Android to CyanogenMod 7 for Milestone
Please use 2ndboot based OpenRecovery for installation to avoid sdcard write errors.
The CM10 builds are using 2ndboot to run custom kernel.
Thanks to Skrilax_CZ, the issue of low performance before the first device suspend has been resolved (L2 cache remained disabled before).
The bad GPU performance on CPU clock bellow 600MHz is currently successfully worked around by temporary insmod of older pvr driver
during boot, so it's not an issue anymore (from the user perspective) has been properly fixed by Skrilax_CZ.
Wifi tethering should work since 20121028 nightly.
Other known issues:
- video recording is not working very well currently
HW acceleration increases the application's RAM demands. You can use the included HWA Settings app to disable it per app.
Remember that JellyBean is designed for devices with much bigger RAM than Milestone has. Don't expect miracles .
It really deserved a thread.
You made an incredible job, sir!
JB on the old Milestone, and it is usable as a daily driver. :good:

Unfortunately, because of yet unknown reason, the device performance is limited until the phone first enters a deep sleep after 2ndboot.
This issue will be hopefully fixed some day.

Amazing that development still is being made for a device this old! :good: but what about making a cm9 build with 2ndboot ? as jellybean from my experince demands much more resources then ics
With swap even Chrome browser works now - incredible!
After flash this cm10 build , my gallery and music player can't see any images or music , although i had try to remount my sd card , how can i fix it ?
Which rom you used previously?
In case you upgraded from any different from CM10, you should make a full wipe. (data,cache,dalvik-cache)
Do you have ext partition on your sd card? It is necessary to use this rom.
hello. how long it takes after the first boot to run. Sorry for my English. thanks

almost 15 mins for first boot
The build from yesterday boots within a few minutes for me.
Skrilax_CZ has fixed the sluggishness after boot!
Another problem solved.
I have had a lot of trouble trying to partition my SD card so is there a easy fool proof way of doing it? I have a 16GB sdcard..

What trouble? That is usally a straitforward process, especially with the modern GUI tools.
And how it's working? Any errors that would make it unsuable as a daily rom?

No - just swap
64MB partition, mounted with Swapper2, swappiness default (10, iirc)
Super laggy for me, even after deep sleep :/ Excellent work though!
Its been great so far, this rom works like a charm, pitty it doent show all internal ram available with 1GB extra on the SDCard.
Attention everyone!
As you may know or not know, Skrillax_CZ has found out what caused the lag before the first deep sleep.
The latest nightly (10.18) already contains the fix, so i suggest everyone to upgrade.
Works like charm for me, no lag even after the first boot.
Work perfectly!!!
Just to confirm that, the ver 18/10 works so well on my milestone without any errors... What I have done for my phone is as follow:
- Flash back to stock ROM 2.1.1
- Completely format the SD card
- Use the 2nd boot OP to root the phone
- Partition the SD card again
- Flash directly from 2.1.1 to CM10 ver 17/10, and then 18/10...
Work perfectly even with big app like Chrome, G+, Google now, etc...
Here are some screenshots... Again, credit gives to kabaldan. Million thanks to him for great effort for our milestone community...:good:

[Rom] Froyo Fast and Lite by -FuFu-

Hi there...
here is a simple Rom, i tried to make a simple 2.2.1 Rom that is usable for the people who dont want to flash custom roms.

The Rom is based on a German 2.2.1 sbf, so if you want to use the Rom in other Countrys you may must flash another Baseband via OpenRecovery, but i think you know when it is needed.
Here i only will provide the nandroid Version, on a-h.de Forum i also provide a "Addon Pack" to flash over existing 2.2.1 Rom, but its not updated and there are some problems if there not enough space on /system, so if i have solved the problems i also will provide the Addon Pack here, but i recommend to use the nandroid.
So, here a list of the Changes i made in this nandroid:
- Africakernel (less DSI-Errors) and DSI-Fix
- Overclock to 900mhz
- Apps2EXT (if there is a ext Partition)
- some system-tweaks
- remove some System-Apps
- add some apps
- Launcher replaced by Lagacy Launcher
- add a Filemanager with Rootaccess (free app)
- add SetCPU (xda Version)
- add DSPManager (Audioeffekt)
- add MIUI Camera
- Play Store updated to newest Version
- Music Player replaced
- add Terminal Emulator
- mot_boot_mode hack for applying init.d scripts
- WIFI N support disabled (less wifi problems)
- updated Superuser App + SU Binary
- some build.prop changes and tweaks
- 10% Batterie steps
- replaced Batterysymbol
Download the nandroid: Froyo_Fast_and_Lite_V4.zip
the nandroid also includes the data partition, dont wipe data after restoring the nandroid, it can cause some proplems and setcpu will not work.
there are some more changes in the nandroid, here is the list:
- Gingerbread Theme with 10% Battery steps, replaced Batterysymbol and 4 way reboot over Powermenu
- Battery charginganimation is smoother
- add Note App (Like MIUI Notes)
- add drocap2 (for screenshots)
- add TaskPanel (little Taskkiller)
I recommend to wipe data/cache and ext partition befor restore the nandroid, also make a nandroid of your existing System.
Most of the deleted System-Apps can be Download here: 2.2.1_GApps
just appy via OpenRecovery, its a flashable zip.
also i recommend to set "Window animations" and "Transition animations" to fast in Spare Parts, the system is smoother with this settings i think.
If you have any Problems, just post here... i hope that there a no bigger issues in the nandroid.
i hope you like my nandroid.
and sorry for my bad english ^^
and here is the Link to the German Thread on Android-Hilfe.de: [Rom/Addon] Froyo Fast and Lite by -FuFu-

Froyo Mod where make from ASOP Source...
i just mod a stock rom, remove some apps and add some apps and scripts
I flashed it,but froyo is slowly for me...try to do your work on cm7,that's can be good
Thanks for rom
Sent from my Milestone using xda app-developers app
froyo is not as fast as CM7
i just try to make it usable
some tweaks may also work for cm7 but i think kabaldan makes a good job to configurate cm7 as best as possible.
I just flashed it and I couldn't even configure WiFi without Settings process constantly FC'ing.
Had to wipe cache and data again after applying the nandroid (yes, I did do the wipes before too).
Now the wallpaper with the ladybug is gone... can't find it - it was in /data, wasn't it?
yes, the wallpaper is in /data/data/com.android.settings/files
i never have problems with WiFi settings, but i also have sometimes fc's when i try to manage my apps, i think is a memory issues, after i kill some apps with taskpanel it works...
if i have some time, i will test some other memory settings or may it helps to use the SuperCharging script, but at the moment i dont have the time to test it
I installed your ROM again from scratch and wiped only the caches before first boot and the errors disappeared - so a data-wipe wasn't necessary.
thx for test it
so i just must try some other memory settings to get the rom a little bit fast
One more thing - what do I have to restore to geht the old Motorola startup logo back?
"logo" in nandroid?
yes, logo is the startup M Logo
to restore the Original Bootanimation, just delete /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Hello
I got e: error in the file. Status 4
when I tried to install from your OR....
bad download?
edit: Its a Nandroid!!!! Entschuldigen
Hey -FuFu-, could you provide instructions on how to create a custom Bootlogo like you did for this ROM?
Are the steps similar to kabaldan's instruction on creating a 2ndBoot splash image? Swapping RGB channels and stuff?
there is a tool from Skrilax_CZ
here is the thread on a-h.de: http://www.android-hilfe.de/themes-...-english-tool-milestone-custom-boot-logo.html
if the downloadlink dont work:
.net framework version: http://droid-world.bplaced.net/load.php?file=download/tools/MilestoneBootLogo_v102.zip
mono version: http://droid-world.bplaced.net/load.php?file=download/tools/MilestoneBootLogo_v102_MONO.zip
its realy simple to create a bootlogo open image and save as nandroid
Hi all nice ROM run very good but I have a trouble with video camera, can't recor a video, when I try record a video the screen is frozen and when I want see the video on gallery can't opent it. I don't know what happen whit it. Maybe only is for me this trouble? And other question, anyone have some troubles with signal ? Some time my device lost the signal for 3 or 5 seconds, after back... Is a little strange.
Well thanks to FUFU nice nice!! I like it. Good job :good:
maybe its a problem with the memorymanagment, i also have some problems when many apps running and try to open a new app it fc's.
video recording i never testet.
you can test if it will helps to set chmod 000 for /system/etc/int.d/08KernelTweaks and 99tweaks, then reboot and test again.
update time
just update some apps and change some settings.
if you update from previous version you can delete data partition from the nandroid, no wipe needed.
if you have problems after restoring, please restore the whole nandroid include the data partition.
play store is updatet to v 4.0.27
i also change some settings, for me now all is smooth and no problems until the last 2 weeks of testing.
download: Froyo_Fast_and_Lite_V4
hey, just wanted to try out this rom on my milestone but i after flashing the linked gapps zip i keep getting this constant nuance.android.vsuite.vsuiteapp force close message which renders the phone completely unusable.
you can delete the VSuiteApp.apk from /system/app
if you what to use the app, use V3 from here: https://www.dropbox.com/home/Android/Froyo Fast and Lite
in V4 i delete the needed files from /system, at the time i'm very busy, but if i have some time, i will make a update.zip to make VSuite useable on my latest nandroid
