[Q] Tethering Xoom to a TP2

Alright, So I just bought a US Wifi Xoom yesterday and got all the updates up to Android 3.2.. So far so good. Now I'm trying to tether it to my touch pro 2 (windows mobile 6.5). So the first obvious problem I came around was that the Xoom is not able to detect ad-hoc networks. I searched the forums and found that the only way around this was to root the xoom and change some files/settings not something that I am comfortable doing yet with android (I'm an android Noob). The other way around this would be to get the Touch Pro 2 to broadcast the SSID in infrastructure mode and I wasn't able to find any programs that were capable of doing that (I currently have Tom Codon's Wifi Sharing App and ICS Control 0.2.1) So I then went ahead and tried tethering via Bluetooth to find out that the Xoom only supports tethering to NAP devices and my Touch Pro 2 (as of now) is only able to set up a PAN.
Does anyone know of a way to tether these two things together preferable without rooting the Xoom?
If the only way for a Xoom to tether to a Windows Mobile 6.5 device is to root the Xoom, could someone provide me a link to a guide for Noobs rooting the Xoom (I did find the 1 Click app, however I wasn't able to download it.. it was a password protected file on mediafire.com) An app that rooted the device for me would be ideal.

I'm using WMWifiRouter on my Win 6.5 phone (Omnia II - Verizon). You'll need to use the bluetooth tether option. It's not the fastest but it works.

+1 to Bluetooth tether on the wifi router app for Winmo. That would be the only way to do it without rooting the Xoom.
If you do root the Xoom (which is easier than you probably think) you can flash the zip file in my signature (via ClockworkMod recovery) to add ad-hoc connectivity to the Xoom.

What version of WMwifirouter are you guys using? I know everything before 0.91 is free but I don't know if it supports bluetooth networking.

I use Android myself but a google search lead me to this post on PPC geeks.

For Bluetooth. go to the "Bluetooth PAN Driver"
use the settings below for Bluetooth tethering to work:
192.168.0.1
255.255.255.0
gateway: leave blank"
Thought it might help if you find a version of wifirouter to use.

I'm assuming the settings-connections wifi network adapators remote ndis host is for the windows mobile phone? I'm done see where remote NDIS Host shows up.
As for the Bluetooth PAN Driver, I tried running the wm6btpan and when I execute it on the phone, I get Error 1062.

I have a TP2 and a Xoom.
I would suggest rooting, flashing CWR and then the ad_hoc enabling patch.

[HELP] Configuring Remote Desktop

I hope someone can help me out on configuring remote desktop client to connect to my PC.
I am intending to TF my tablet by bluetooth/wifi from my iPhone.
I currently have Remote Desktop on my TF and I am able to connect it successfully using my home wifi.
However, I have problem connecting, when I am using other connection.
I hope someone can really help me with this.

It sounds like the connection that is not working is probably blocking port 3389, which is the default port used for RDP. It's very common for public wifi networks to restrict ports including those used for remote desktop. Unless you know that other people are using this connection sucessfully for remote desktop, I would not assume that it's a problem with your tablet.

Or it's your router blocking remote desktop connections. Have you enabled port forwarding on your router?
On a side note, do you really want remote desktop open to the whole world? You should look into a VPN setup...

i believe there are users who are able to connect to the desktop from their office and school.
There was a thread on that apps and people are doing that. I tried asking for help, but I can't seem to figure it out.
Hence, I am putting this to the ground, and hope more forumers would be able to help

I think I did not do any port forwarding for my router, as it wasn't necessary.I don't why, and my BitComet is getting 2 green lights and able to hook up to remote connection. Previously, I need to setup port forwarding for my previous router.
I didn't know remote desktop is so vulnerable! In that case, I'll try to look up on VPN setup, before coming back here to ask question again.

Splashtop Issue (Port not reachable)

Not a tablet issue, must be a PC Splashtop remote server issue. I ask this here since Splashtop support is useless as they always point to router settings for connectivity from WAN and this is on the local LAN. I'm curious if any other Asus Transformer MyCloud users have the same issue.
My problem is that all of a sudden I am not able connect to use Splashtop remote on my PC. Whenever I try to start the desktop server I get the message "port not reachable" error. This is using all the default settings from Asus MyCloud and ASUS PC suite software from their site.
When I first installed a couple of weeks ago, I used to be able to be able to remote from my Transformer while on WiFi on my home LAN, and I also set up port forwarding on my router to access remotely over the internet. Everything worked great. But now the server suddenly cant reach port 6783 (probably 6784 and 6785 as well). I tried changing the ports, but every port I use is "Unreachable". I tried a local port scanner and the port is open. There is nothing set in windows firewall to block. It continues to fail even if I turn off the firewall. I reinstalled PC software and still no good.
I am running Win7 home. The only thing I can think of is that there was a Windows Update that may have caused a problem. Has this happened to anyone else?

I just tested on my TF to see if I can connect to my work computer to see if there was any problems (maybe the servers were down at SplashTop or something). Everything connected fine. I've added my computer manually and am using these settings on my tablet: Port # 6783, IP address set, password set, resolution 1280 x 800.
On my Win 7 Pro laptop, I'm using these settings: Start Splashtop Streamer (checked), Enable Internet Discovery (unchecked), redirect all sound to the client (checked), password set and confirmed, Port # 6783 applied, version # 1.5.0.1 Splashtop Streamer. Also, for Win 7 security settings I have: Network Firewall (On), Virus Protection (On), Spyware protection (On), UAC (On), Network Access Protection (Off) and I'm not running any additional security software.
So, do all your settings seem to be set correctly?

I'm convinced that its the Splashtop Streamer install on the PC. Every other network app is working fine, just this one shows "port is not reachable" no matter which port I set. Once that is solved I'm sure my TF will be able to discover it.
I'm going to try a second PC on my network just to confirm that its not a LAN issue.

[Q] Problems with MyNet AND Splashtop in home network

Did a few hours of searching, couldn't find something similar enough that helped fix it, so here goes what I've done, and my problem...There are two problems, but I'm thinking they MAY be related....I'm more worried about splashtop though.
PROBLEMS: I cannot get any devices to see the transformer or vice-versa. Using MyNet, I can't see my PS3 or computer, nor can they see it. Also, with splashtop, after installing it all (including the HD app), I can't get them to see each other in my home network. For MyNet, when it's loaded on the transformer, the left-hand side only shows the transformer, and doesn't show any of the other DLNA devices in my household (PS3 up and running, and computer)
They are BOTH connected to my home network. My router (netgear 624v4) sees all the devices as "attached" devices, and all of them can connect to the web and browse, but don't seem to connect to each other. I tried setting up a manual IP address using both the in-network IP and the out of network IP (modem's IP I guess), but nothing.
I don't think this is an issue with ports as I've successfully forwarded them, and as I understand, this shouldn't be an issue in my house anyway. I'm really wanting to remote into the computer, mainly for hulu.com, while at home on the couch, and the MyNet is not too big an issue, but I'm surprised it doesn't work with my PS3.
I have a Netgear 624v4 router, an Actiontec GT701 modem. I have the modem assigning a static IP to the router (192.168.0.2, with the modem being .0.1), and I assigned "reserved" ip's within the router to my computer, PS3, and transformer respectively so I can make sure they get the same IP each time, and the right ports stay forwarded on the right systems.
Really frustrated that even a base application like MyNet isn't seeing the devices and I'm wondering if it's something with the network or router since they can't seem to communicate that way, or maybe something DLNA-wise that I have to do in order to get it all working.
I appreciate any help I can get, and any other tips to try to narrow down the problem. Thank you.

Ok. UPDATE:
Reset my router AND my DSL modem. Opened the ports on BOTH the modem and the router (not necessary for inhouse splashtop, but I thought in case it didnt work, maybe that'd help with remote splashtop access).
Turns out, splashtop ONLY works on the main user account. So I have to try to access it through my wife's account on the computer. One problem solved. TF also finding the computer for MyNet but not PS3 yet. Gonna open the ports for the PS3 (just in case), but I have a feeling that's not the issue.

[Q] How to internet tether with the Transformer

Hey all,
I have an unrooted Asus Eee Pad Transformer, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to tether the internet from my laptop to my Transformer.
I've plugged it into my laptop, and clicked tether, but do not seem to get any internet connection. Is anyone able to help?

It is possible but you need additional software on your laptop or you need to enable ICS (Internet connection sharing) which often has mixed results.
It also depends on how your laptop is connecting to the internet. If your laptop has a wired connection to the net then your wifi will offer the hotspot connection for your other wireless devices such as the TF'er. I've used Connectify before which worked well although I did need to manually start the connection after each reboot even though it was in the startup programs.

Think I've decided it's my university internet connection. I have a wired connection, but unable to make a wifi hotspot as I'm only allowed one I.P address blah blah, so complete and utter ball ache if you ask. May give them a ring!

I'm in the same situation as you are. No wifi and only one IP.
Use Connectify on laptop. Works for me. No prolem with 1 IP becouse it will make it's own subnet.
Other option is to use USB-rj45 dongle. Had been explaned somewhere on this forum.

Why not use a WiFi router and mirror the IP address if you are only going to use one at a time.
