Stratosphere usb pinout - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I've looked all over for info regarding this but I've come up sorta empty handed. I'm working on a charging dock for my Samsung Stratosphere and I was wondering if anyone had any information on the USB pinout? I'm pretty sure pin 1 is generally +5V and pin 5 is generally GND, I'm lost on the center pins though.
Thanks!

I would suggest starting here: Hardware Hacking

If all he is going to do with his dock is charge the device then all he needs is the 5+ and ground right? the charding hardwaer is in the device and the 5v usb supplies it right? Basically what im saying is the power supply doesnt motitor anything but it just supplies the power, correct?

I dunno, man. I'm definitely not a hardware dude. I've never gotten into that aspect of it all.

Leo, I think you're right. The goal for this charger is not only to charge the phone, but to monitor the battery and run certain commands when the battery is at certain percentages. I'm using an arduino for the project.

Sorry i dont even know what that is lol... Im a newb with hardware... Hell im a newb period

I kind of know what you mean, but here is a useful link

I now realize I'm probably going to have to create some type of serial connection to be able to get information on the battery's charge level. Ideas anyone?

Just to let you know, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS THIS ABOUT
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium

I'll try to be a bit more clear.
I want to make a phone charger that will read the battery charge level and output that data to an Arduino microcontroller. The motivation for this project is to extend the battery life since batteries last longer when they are only charged to full for a brief time (instead of leaving it charged at 100% all night long)

Oh now i get it, but i don't really do hardware modding

Yeah there's a ton of these type of devices on eBay and Amazon.com ... they're great and don't require the phone to power off to use. I carry the energizer 4000mah model in my travel bag for such cases where I need a boost.
Yours looks pretty tho, the white is nice.
Yes, for the reason that darker colors when they have scratches it is very visible compare to white.
My case is white too see picture below.

They have them from 1000 mah to 18,000 on amazin for $15-$200 based on weather u want to re-charge 1x all the way to 100 times per recharge, hehe
I'd go with Energizer tho, the off brands tend to use crap cells inside, just like aftermarket batteries often do for the phones.

I like the idea of a backup battery. I'll need to pick one of those up real soon. I keep a keychain size USB to micro-USB cable with me so I can charge up anyplace I can find a USB port. Its made by Scoche.

Our phones, unless they detect the iCharging resistors of the mintyboost as USB, will probably pull too much current for a mintyboost.

Current is limited to 600 mA without kernel hacks. This backup battery is, I assume, 5000 mAh, so it should be able to charge the phone for around 7-8 hours at 600 mA.
Although that may be 5000 mAh at the backup battery's pack voltage, which translates to maybe 4000 mAh at 5v output. (Conservation of energy... It's a bit better to rate stuff like this in watt-hours but everyone just advertises the pack rating, ignoring inefficiencies in the boost converter used to reach 5v output.)
Edit: Oh, this one IS rated in watt-hours. 19 Wh translates to 3.8 amp-hours at 5 volts assuming a 100% efficient power supply, in reality it's probably around 3.2-3.4 amp-hours on the 5v output.
thanx now i know what to ask for christmas lol

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
If your positive its not the battery, then it's either the cable or the contacts. Try another cable first though. If it still doesnt work you have the option of going to ebay and buying a new charge port and installing yourself or calling lg if its been less then a year and they should replace it for you.

Anker Batteries + Battery Wall Charger for Skyrocket

Does anybody know or have even used Anker batteries and can give some feedback on them?
Also wondering if the wall charger can charge the OEM Samsung battery that came with my phone.
Thinking about ordering this for my Skyrocket:

I bought an Anker for my Captivate, it was probably the best investment I made for that phone.
I use that exact set. The batteries are wonderful, but the charger itself is a little poorly made/easy to break

Actually, when I bought the batteries, I got 2 chargers. The one that a rarely touch at work is still working like a champ, but the one I was using at home broke at the plug.
They're both kind of flimsy, but I probably just got one bad one. Still a great deal

I bought 2 on purpose to have one at home and one at work. The chargers themselves are flimsy, but I have two small boys in the house, which makes most tech scream in terror anyway
I'd say that if you get one and it breaks, $10 for a new charger isn't much risk

Really? That nexus battery was able to fit in the skyrocket?
I wasn't concerned about getting better battery life than the stock just cause they're 2200mah but more concerned about the quality of the batteries and the wall charger.
Thanks for your input though!

I'm sure Samsung has a reason for limiting the charging speed. They did not sit around a round table thinking "Hey.... let's limit the charging speed so they .... have to ... wait longer!!! BWAHAHAHA."
I'm not an engineer, I don't know what would happen. But they do know.

Its says unofficial USB , Sammy does know ,but unofficial ones don't allow full speed charging to their Max capabilities. That's what this mod is for.

Ohhhh, I feel dumb. I read it as giving chargers in general more juice to charge with. Cool mod then, nice find.
How does this compare with the wall charger that comes with the skyrocket?

This is just for non Sammy chargers that don't allow the Max output to your device., so therefore not much difference between Sammy charger(after mod).

Cool beans. I wonder if this would also fix the "stats stuck at 100%" bug that people (myself included) were having when they used non-Samsung chargers.

Wireless charger

I'm thinking about picking up the wireless charger for this phone and wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I would live to know the charge time by comparison to the wall charger, is there much if a difference? Any input with someone that has experience with it would be great, thanks

I dont have the official charger but I can confirm that the Nokia DT-601 works very well and charges the N5 quickly and is quite a bit cheaper

I love wireless charging. It's just no hassle, and since I'm kind off paranoid of breaking the micro USB port on my N5 because it's really tight, it works. It's not as fast as the plug in charger that came with the phone due to the inherent inefficiencies or wireless charging, but it's still pretty quick. Depending on how low your battery is when you start charging, it would probably take 30-60min longer. But, I'm never really in a rush, and always keep my battery topped off, so I'm never in dire need for a super fast charge.
A word of caution though: STAY AWAY FROM THE TYLT VU. It has a serious issue with sporadically overheating your device. Check out these threads:

Once you go wireless, you won't go back.
I'm using my Nexus 4 Orb and it works great. It is a little slower than charging via a micro-usb cable, but if you're like me and charge overnight, it won't be an issue.
