You will be able to flash generic Arabic ROM but not able to have OTA updates. Don't worry though, the minute HTC puts up an official build most devs/chefs will create a ROM from it

Yes you can. Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1228648
If you flashed the ROM and use RecoveryManager later on you will be able to replace the CWM recovery image to the original one. That is enough to be able install OTA updates. But with the update to ICS you will loose S-OFF and root. So think about that. May be it's even better stay unlocked and just use custom ROM like Jonny said. You could have ICS today. Jonny's DarkForest ICS ROM works fine for me.

does anyone know if we will still be able to update via OTA means if we unlock bootloaders,root,s-off etc.... on sony ericsson phones they cant update if they unlock bootloaders.
sorry if this was already answered i didnt find it..... :/
No, not if you're not using the stock rom.
Custom roms will always be updated faster than stock OTA updates.
so when the official ics is released if i reflash stock rom i will be fine when updating?

You'd have to be on the stock rom and stock recovery. So you might aswell run the RUU for your phone and you'll be good to go.

Stock RUU.......
Seems the stock ROM's aren't perfect. Take a chance......
When the ics ota comes out it will likely have a new bootloader which revolutionary won't like. Htcdev should work

When sensation get its OTA ICS, will I be able to flash that ROM for tmobile?
thank you for your help
Oh no here we go again HA HA HA..............
No seriously, you will be able to receive the OTA as soon as T-Mobile lets us get the update. You will have to be stock meaning you have to be running Android version 2.3.4, HTC Sense version 3.6, Software version 1.50.534.1, and you will have to be using the stock recovery so it will flash. It does not matter if you are S-off or S-on or if you are rooted or not rooted.

Is it any chance to flash some sense 4 ROM into my Sensation with official update of ICS ? I unlocked bootloader from htc website but still s-on hboot 1.27?
Is any way maybe to downgrade to gingerbread or other solution for this ?
No. There are countless threads saying Revolutionary S-OFF is needed on Gingerbread before upgrading. Please read, now you will have to wait until someone finds a way to unlock it on the new HBOOT.
Don't use HTCDev. You're just letting HTC know you've rooted your phone. I'm not sure why people even use it - maybe because they think it's "official" or something. Oh well.

No. Well actually you can, but 95% that your phone will not boot
You want a Sense 4 ROM? Then flash one from the Development section?
You want official ROM? Do not flash on a rooted/S-Offed phine- use the RUU.
By the way the development sub-forum has a lot of guides and answers

Why then on htc official site say unlock bootloader to flash custom rom if it is not possible because s-on ?
I remember unlocking my bootloader. It actually does not S Off. But I managed to root. Problem though is that my phone in running on ICS. Theres no way I can get my phone to S Off, and now cannot flash a custom ROM.

You can flash roms after htc Dev unlock. Install custom recovery, flash rom. Does anyone read this forum before asking questions?

Dear XDA-developers, readers and other people!
I have a Sensation (Vodafone NL Branded) with software;
Android Version; 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version; 3.0
Software number; 1.50.162.2
Smallband version; 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M
The phone is S-Off (Revolutionary) but still has stockrom.
Superuser is installed (can not uninstall it).
No i would like to install the OTA update i received from HTC/Vodafone;
3.32.162.11 (302.59MB) - Android 4.0
When downloaded, the phone is preparing to install and restarts.
For a second i see the progressbar and than i only see a droid with an warning sign.
Why can't i install the update?
Please help me.
I have been reading forums for 4 day's and tried things like recovery software, but it did not work.
I am a noob, so please make it in easy language!
Thanks a lot!!!
I'm not sure about the Sensation, but on the Desire when you S-OFF with alpharev, your new hboot is protected. To fix this you have to install an unprotected hboot.

Firstly and most importantly if you have Su installed you are rooted you can not install ota updates whilst you have a rooted handset
The only thing you can do is download the official stock European ruu here
http://db.tt/OWcAvh1S
Follow this thread to change your cid to unbranded one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16140388
Connect your phone to your pc make sure USB debugging is enabled and follow the on screen instructions this will remove root from your phone but it will remain S-off
Once installed you can check for updates and install ICS

At the OP, do you have the stock recovery or a custom recovery lime Clockwork Mod Recovery? If you have a custom recovery then tho sis why you can not install the official update. You must have the stock recovery.

Frank, so you have S-OFF and are rooted but still on a stock ROM. Do you have a custom recovery installed, like ClockworkMod or 4EXT? If you do, then you need to go back to stock recovery in order to be able to install OTA updates.
You also havent mentioned if you are receiving any error/warning messages during installation of the update. Knowing what you're seeing on the screen could help in determining a specific course of action.
Hi Guys!
I have installed a unbranded (stock) Rom and after that my Sensation didn't find ICS OTA.
So i downloaded the ICS Rom from XDA and installed.
So i'm on ICS now, but will not receive stock updates OTA.
And not on my stock rom, because i didn't make a backup
Thanks all!

You can download the official RUU of the stock ROM for your Sensation and then connect your Sensation to your computer and run the RUU. Go to here to download the RUU. I suggest you download the one that says " RUU_Pyramid_Vodafone_IT_1.45.165.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.0" as it looks like it is the most recent RUU. You will probably have to do a OTA to get back to the 1.50.162.2 ROM you was on. Remember this though the RUU will make your Sensation S-on again so you will have to S-off your Sensation again after you have installed the OTA back to the 1.50.162.2 ROM. If you do not and you flash the ICS OTA then it will change your Hboot and Revelutionary is not compatible with that Hboot yet.
Edit: If the RUU I suggested is not the right region for you, I think it is for Italy, then look at the other four Vodafone RUUs. Two of them are for France, one is for Germany, and one is for the UK. But you may have to do more than one OTA to get back to the 1.50.162.2 ROM so you can get the ICS OTA if you have to use any of those RUUs
Hello, I would like to ask a question regarding the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OTA update. Before I update my new HTC Desire S to Android 4.0 via RUU, I would like to update my phone to 2.3.5 first. I have done a bit of installation of apps and contacts, and I am scared that the OTA update will wipe my phone. Will the OTA update wipe my phone? I know that when installing RUUs, the phone will be completely wiped, but I am not sure with OTAs, because I've never done a OTA update before.

No
And a friendly suggestion: if you want ICS better S-OFF and use a custom ROM rather the buggy ICS RUU. This will keep the option to return to a warranty state if needed
