I love my TF. I hate browsing the web on it. Such a shame that the job it is meant to do, is the job it seems to do most poorly. Perhaps its down to the browsers, since I have yet to find one that doesnt get in the way of my surfing. I would be happy if I could find one with a navigation bar that doesnt disappear every time I scroll down the page. I have plenty screen for it, why can't I at least have the option? Is there any browser with a static navigation bar? I'm not using a phone, so I'd like my navigation buttons to be accessable regardless of where on the page I'm at. I'd love to have my tabs static too! Why is this such a hard request? If firefox would just port it's pc interface over it's android browser(which i find stable but a crappy interface), I would be in love.
Oh, and I hate gestures. I like actual buttons with real text labels.
Please call me a noob and tell me what I'm looking for already exists. I will praise you for it.

Just go to browser settings and go to the labs tab and then unchecked the quick controls box
I already have that unchecked. The problem is that when i scroll down, the back, forward, refresh, and home buttons disappear, along with the address bar. I want it to always be visible. from what i've seen, every browser for android does this, and it makes me batty.
just tap the screen and it comes back/ reappears.
I get that, but it's one tap and wait longer than I want to deal with. 5 browsers on my TF, and they all have this problem. I wonder if the ipad browser is any better...
have you tried dolphin mini? The addess bar stays on the top

did you try the new little radial menu that comes when you swipe on the side? i prefer browsing with everything hidden, and just using that radial... it has bookmarks, tabs, close window, etc etc.

hey
opera mobile doesn't do that.
address bar along with 5 diff. buttons always stay on top.
try it out, I use it more than stock browser, only downside getting flash to work on it is a
hit or miss affair.

Hi there, just wondering do you have problem with opera mobile displaying everything website smaller when compared to other browsers example stock browser. Every time opera will load the page with such small fonts it hurts to read. I tried to set the default zoom to 125% it looks better but problem is as soon as I click a link or open a new page, it will zoom out and gimme the small fonts again. Anyway to fix the zoom level?

hey
type in the address bar:
opera:config
hit enter, you'll see a page with diff. settings open up.
scroll down to:
"user prefs"
tap it and it'll expand then again scroll down to:
minimum font size
change the value from default 9 to whatever you like then scroll down to the bottom
and hit "save" button then hit 'ok' in the pop up.
also to speed up opera even more try this:
find "performance" section
tap to open
then scroll down and change the following values:
Max Connections Server 6
Max Connections Total 6
Max Persistent Connections 6
after, scroll down and hit save button then hit 'OK' in the pop up.
you can experiment with diff. values for "connections" settings, however I wouldn't go over 8,8,8 or 10,10,10 as some websites might load slower than with default values (4,6,4)
my browser doesn't always keep the saved settings, sometimes it'll revert to default values...
so it's really a hit or miss, at least for me...
also, the 'default zoom', 125% or whatever % you specify, happens when you double tap the text on screen, it'll zoom that amount
and also reflow the text to fit screen.

The problem with increasing the Minimu font size from 9 to just 12, is it will cut off the right side of somw sites. Like on xda the search button on the top right get cut off if u increase the size. I don't think opera mobile is made for table.

you're right.
I find 12 to be maximum size in order to avoid what you described above.
also I have to kill opera using 'task killer' for saved font setting to take effect.

HTC Inspire 4g CM7 Stable mod. No nightlies as of yet.
1st Question)
But how do i get my phone to show full version webpages and no Mobile versions.
Like when i am trying to download the Icons that are included on deviant art websites by Xspirited there is no download link or place that says to show full web page. I scrolled all way down to bottom nothing went into settings and nothing.
2nd Question)
Ok how come my phone wont show my image when i am texting people. Like if i am looking over my convo's it doesn't load my custom image i selected from my gallery. It works after reboot but after about 2/3 hours of use it goes away and it's just blank. It doesn't show a andriod character picture its just completely blank.
Any help would be appreciated!

1, when you launch the browser, hit Menu, then More, then settings. There you should see a tick for Mobile Web pages.
2, not sure on this one.
Thanks D
Anyone answer #2?!
I'm running a different rom but for my rom I had to create a contact for myself then go to settings > call settings > additional settings and then it said phone number and I had to manually input it, after that my picture would show up in conversations. Not sure if this helps
Alright, I'm hoping that I'm putting this in the right place. I desperatly need a working APK for this version of Dolphin, or any other version which allows the "full screen scrolling" (where the address bar is visible at the top of the page, but gradually disappears as you scroll down the page).
This version is also the last one that I know will properly wrap text when I zoom in on my phone. If anyone has a good copy of this APK and doesn't mind sharing it with me, I'll love you forever. Every link I can find via Google is either dead, or Dolphin FCs as soon as I try to go to a page (opens just fine, but it FCs as soon as I click on a bookmark or hit "Go" after typing in an address). I neeeeeeeed my full screen scroll and text wrapping!
Thanks all,
N1N00B
I have tried several keyboards and so far only google and SwiftKey seem to let the address bar in chrome auto complete. Now, I'm not talking about the suggestions down below. I mean, when I want to visit XDA all I have to do is type "x" and it will automatically fill the address bar itself with XDA-developers.com. Every other keyboard will suggest the site below the address bar but not directly into it.
This is a minor annoyance but it is nice to be able to type the first letter of a site and just hit enter and I am immediately taken there. Is this something that developers need to enable in their keyboard apps, or some setting I can enable (I've tried looking). I'm confused as to why it works with some keyboards and not others.
Verizon HTC M8 same issue on stock KK and loli.

The Developers need to build it in their app., like you said the 2 keyboards do have support build in for chrome and the other ones doesn't have it.
For some Keyboards you can turn it on/off in the settings since not everyone likes auto-correct.

It isn't just auto correct feature. Auto correct will usually correct a word or give a prediction just above the keyboard. The feature I'm talking about is more of an auto fill. If I type x my keyboard will guess XDA but the address bar will still only show the letter x and if I hit enter it will show Google search results for x. But my stock keyboard and Google keyboard will, once I hit the x key, auto fill the address bar with xda-developers.com. And then when I hit enter take me here. I know it isn't a major feature but it is personally an annoyance
The strange part is that the stock M8 keyboard is done by either Touch Pal or Swype I forget which but I have tried both of them and neither will auto complete the address bar.
Hello !
I've installed IC 3.7.0 + Exceed Kernel + Synapse and the phone work well
There is just one thing that I don't like at all ... but I don't know if it depends from InsertCoin or not.
I have an old Desire X with Sens 4.1+ and the HTC browser allows to enter a "read mode" that is useful for reading newspaper's articles ! When you click a little square icon near the web address (see photos in attachment), the page is re-opened in a "read mode", without banners, colors or pop-up, but just a clean text page ! ... like word or PDF texte.
I've downloaded also the last HTC browser .apk but there no way to find this option...
Does anybody know how to find/install this future ?
... mmmh ... no replies, no idea ?

Hey ya
For now I'm having android 5.1 (cm12.1) but as I can recall from IC, there was no reader mode on default browser But as an alternative, there's a reader mode on chrome browser which is hidden under chrome flags :good: Here's how to enable it:
1. Open Chrome (make sure you're running the latest version) and type chrome://flags in the address bar. Press Go.
2. Head to Menu > Find on Page and search for "Enable Reader Mode Toolbar Icon". Click the Enable link under that setting.
3. Relaunch Chrome when prompted.
Hope that would help you
That works
I don't understand why HTC has not implemented this future in Sense 6. I've taken a look to HTC site and "read mode" is only for few old models, some Desires and One V. I think the stock ROM of One mini doesn't have this option, it's not a bug of IC.
Anyway, I've to say that HTC browser, in my device, it is more smooth and the text re-size is nice, Chrome is faster but not as fluent as HTC...
In the other hand Chrome has "read mode" and you can also modify the text size !
Thank you !!
:good:
sorry for the dumb question: I enabled the option but can't find a damn symbol for it. where is it?
