I appreciate everyone's great attitude and wish you guys the best. Doc j is the man journal will have greats developments for this phone. And I'm glad I was a part of the best community on xda ill still be around to help answer questions. But am now stuck with the thunderbolt. Which sucks I really want the nexus. But can not afford the 299 price as my car just took a dump. Both differentials and the transmission went out so I had no choice in this switch. The thunderbolt is junk. So I'm stuck unless someone wants to donate me a galaxy nexus or droid razar lol. Haha. Its been fun folks.

sorry to hear this I have really enjoyed you being here. Don't worry about the thunderbolt, you will tweak that one to a better state, and get something better later when things settle, we both know that.

holy carp...how much torque were you running? I was at 370/390 (ish) when one of my ringlands cracked...tried driving it home and well..I should have had it towed.

Well this sucks.
Thanks for apparently being the only one with the sense to perform a system dump after the ota update...my work would not be so distinguished with out that effort. The dInc also got Gingerbread 2 weeks ago, then the OTA was stopped due to some serious issues with it. Those dInc guys crack me up. It's just something about the whining about not getting Sense 3.0 with it and their insane belief that the dInc is best device ever constructed. I swear, if I read one more post where the writer says something like "Sadly, I got a dInc2 from Asurion as a warranty replacement instead of another AMOLED dInc" (like they got totally screwed in the deal!), I'm gonna find them and shove that phone up their piss hole.
I actually miss my dinc a lot. It's a great little phone. Great specs. Great dev support. Only thing keeping me from going back is 4G.

the Dinc is a nice phone but too small for me. the tbolt reminds me of my old evo4g, that's why i bought it. i think my next phone will be the htc vigor.

What killed the Dinc was that it didn't have enough memory to run sense. I have a Dinc & a TBolt and I have 270 mb free most of the time with the TBolt and only 70 -100 mb free on the Dinc. The Dinc has a stripped down sense rom and the TBolt rom has most everything.

Best phone every tell that to me who went through 6 Inc all for reasons that had nothing to do with Rooting or dropping the phone. The phone over heated on a few of them and fried the board. Some phone would reboot and wipe my phone clean for no reason. I did get to keep the last phone which my daughter has as a video game phone so she would keep her hands off my TB, and surprising it been a great game system/netflix for her anyways. But I would have loved to get upgraded to the new phone as a replacement it only happened to me one time but I was like HELL YEA, and that was back when it was a flip phone but I got a 3.2 MP camera.

The incredible was a good phone but the Tbolt definately has advantages over it. I wouldn't trade my Tbolt back for the Incredible but it definately was a good phone.

The radio from the 2.11 leak is freakin great. I know with the TB it seems different phones respond to different radios but I have seen more positive posts about the one from the 2.11 leak then any other radio. I got 15 hours of heavy heavy usage the other day after flashing a new ROM and that radio before I even changed all my settings to help optimize battery life. Plus my 4G hasn't cut out on me at all like it did sometimes before.

I was too late.. by the time i got to a pc to install plan b, the thief had already swapped sim card. And considering i had just flashed weui, i didn't have the time to restore all my apps prior to it getting stolen.

It is amazing how great this phone is.. still kickin..

My suggestion is - backup and keep simple 9-dot lock.
Also I don't keep any financial info on the phone. NFC will fail.
I can't bring myself to ditch the Captivate just yet, though the new HTC One X looks pretty awesome. The windshield mount and desktop stand are one of the best I have ever used thats why I can't tear myself away just yet.
After rooting my Captivate and installing a new ROM (Slim ICS), it's like a new phone.
The One X does look cool, but I'm surprised there's no SD slot. Still, probably no issue for most people.
We'll see how soon the shiny wears off, but ICS on my Captivate is fast, functional and just really nice. So I can wait for a more optimal-for-me phone.

Craigslist usually has them for about $100-150. Sometimes you can find one that's boot looped someone wants to sell, thinking its permanently borked.
Make sure you report it stolen with the phone company. They will mark the imei number as stolen.

That's horrible! You have all our hopes behind you. As said a couple posts up they can be found relatively cheap on Craigslist. Sometimes cheaper than $100 if you're really lucky or they looped it.

Lol hilarious post man. But I know what you mean. G2x is a bomb ass phone when it works right. But I need something that's more reliable, and other than the Vibrant, Samsung has a good track record. I have a TMO upgrade this summer, was planning on using it but I guess I'll just save that and use this GN for a while.

Lol yeah I wanted to talk myself out of it... But couldn't, sooooo I caved and dropped the 4 bills for it. Came out to like 447 and some change (damn California taxes...).
But oh well, this phone will hold me for quite some time. I'll just save my upgrade for something else down the road.
You can save the galaxy nexus for future updates that's for sure very few phone lines get actual updates, cough g2x cough, lol. The phone is good but not up to potential in slightest bit when it comes to processors these days. Congrats on the purchase though definitely!!! I would if I could.

Thanks man appreciate it. Yeah I know it's kinda mid tier now when it comes to processing and GPU power. But I kinda just wanted it for the screen and the luxury of not having to worry about updates. Hopefully I can see the G2x soon so that I'm not in much of a loss.
I will miss the G2x though. It's one of those coulda woulda shoulda phones. Great phone most of the time that's for sure!
By the time we "do get" official ICS, another version is out too. We are always going to be one version behind.
Heck, I bet only 1% of the market of android is ICS.
Hopefully Google keeps doing this, I should be ready for a new phone when the Jellybean Nexus comes out, if they keep up the trend.
If I had the spare cash to drop, I'd definitely get it. I HATED the G2x until I started flashing custom roms to it. I figure that by the time my early upgrade comes or full upgrade comes, I can just get a better phone at a better price.
In the meantime, I might actually need that money to buy a new Xbox if my continues to act up like it was on Sunday. >_<

Both quality devices. All depends on what you are looking for. You want a big screen? Go Note. There is a lot of development going on there...some by names you might recognize from these parts
I chose the SGS3. The big screen is nice. But for me not completely practical. For me, its the perfect mix of size, specs, and it comes with ICS installed. No waiting for leaks. On top of that ...it's new, which is exciting for me. Never been on a device on launch.
Just like anything else...there is no best. It's just what works for you. I dont think you would go wrong with either.
Agree with Nun...but I have the Note coming...couldn't pass on this deal...really who can when it is FREE...

I hate using a case! Why have a slim phone and then bulk it up. Had my infuse since it first came out, dropped a few times but never bad. Glass is still perfect and there are a few scratches but all in all still looks good. I feel same way about the brightness always keep it on high, uses more battery but what's the sense of a great screen that's not bright.

I am a little shocked about the entire thing...All I can say I love AT&T, Long Story short...bought a pantech 7000 att phone off of eBay last-week, for my kid, came but it was unlocked, no problem should still see att since it is a att phone...but no read the sim card, but sim card is good in another phone, call ATT...3 tech's later they tried to connected to network, no worky...they tried to connect me to pantech help desk, closed...so the last tech (aft 1 hr later), said tell you what bigjoe, we will just send you a brand new phone of your choice...I about fell to the floor...even though no warrenty and bought off ebay...they did this...I had to triple check to make sure...so I said I want a mofo Note, (not refrub, I checked) please with free shipping included...and tracking says be here in a few hours...already on the truck fedex in town..
So it pays to be nice the sexy ATT voiced tech's....Now that is service...with a ...my wife says I flirt on the phone with them female tech's...I say hey it got me a free phone...and you flirt to get out of a speeding ticket...so what works...works...!!! LOL, right...

Big screen and the s pen on top of a dual core sounds cool to me. Wondering if Jelly bean will run well with it. The S3 U.S. version will probably have dual core too and 2 gigs ram sounds awesome. I'm not to keen on the new look and color choices though but its something I could live with. The new software on it doesn't really impress me its just what its capable of..mostly gaming. It will probably be upgraded to Jellybean too later on. Rumors on Note 2 sound Impressive. Quadcore New GPU 2gigs ram 5.5 Flexible screen Jellybean S pen could be used as a mic to make calls.

Bigjoe give us a review. One issue I was worried about is the black clipping. BTW I'm still keeping the Infuse for developement testing .

what do you mean black clipping...?
they sent me a white phone...but hey it was free, just had to change me plan from smartphone 4g...to smartphone 4g lte...
Black clipping happens for example when your watching dark videos the blacks appear blocky, pixelated, chopped up, and discolored.

I believe the clipping is still here, but it was worse on GB. I don't even notice it on ICS and I watch videos on this bad boy all the time.

I just totaled my car about an hour ago and my skyrocket took off like a rocket into a creek so it is no more.....not sure if I'd get another one now im thinking note or wait for S3 thoughts ?
Get your car fixed first!
I'd stick with SR, note and S3 are too big for my liking.

Dang hope you're alright.
S3 isnt really bigger, just longer and a little thinner but hey its a "new" phone and the community is huge on the other side as well so either one is good. Of course the S3 is newer and will have more features so with that aside its all about preference from that point as both phones are good.

First, go to a doctor if there is any nagging pain/issues after the accident
I'm assuming you are ok since you are posting on XDA but better to be on the safe side.
Second if the accident is not your fault (Or if you have comprehensive insurance) put pressure on the insurance company for the value of you car AND it's belongings including your $600+ phone
If the accident is your fault, or your insurance is minimum coverage, check kijiji or craigslist for a used one at a good price. There is always a (wannabe) isheep who cant handle the power of a droid.
thanks guys for all the kind words I'm fine just split my shin open on the steering wheel but I've had way worst injuries than that....my brother has never been in a car crash and the air bag did a number on his hand but we are both fine......but my baby there is no fixing her she is done! I feel so ''out of reach'' without my phone and it hasnt even been 2 hours.

As far as phones go, the note is borderline garbage. Had one and it was just a bigger slower SR that came with a pen. S3 is you need the latest release, but honestly I'm going with a Google phone next time. AOSP and timely updates are more important than new add on software to me. I always end up flashing AOSP anyway so why not just go straight there.
Just my couple of pennies worth.

Thought it was general. derp. Glad you're okay though. Oh and get a S3.
Im glad your ok. I had the note, I liked the pen part of it, but it is just ridiculously big. It hurt my hands after a while of holding it, it just looks silly when your talking on it, and it just felt awkward in my pocket. I exchanged it for the skyrocket and couldn't be happier.
Glad to hear you are alright man. I've had my fair share of crashes...mostly racing in the wrong place.
Get the sgs3 since the skyrocket was a loss. It's the logical decision at this point. It will be a nice little upgrade from the skyrocket but will still be familiar territory for you. Best of luck.

Agreed; if I were in your shoes I'd get the insurance replacement for $100 (or whatever it is now) and continue to wait for the next Nexus phone. That's what I've been planning to do anyway; no more phones on contract for me.
Seriously bro, the good news here is that you and your brother are largely unscathed. Car accidents can be pretty serious; I remember when I got rear-ended in my Dakota and the entire bed had to be replaced. The cab was largely okay, but I hurt for a day or two afterward. Can't imagine being in a wreck like yours.
