does xxkb3 come with the pit file? the rom thread doesn't specify and I won't download just to find out.
in another thread, someone stated that there is a separate pit file for froyo vs GB, and that you can't use the GB pit file for going back to froyo.
I found a froyo pit file, but I can't confirm how good it is since it's not on the sammy site or here on xda. the page to get the file is here

no, I don't know what it stands for (google could tell me if I was interested...), but the pit file is for designating partition sizes, which is necessary when installing different versions of fw, like froyo vs GB.
See the below link for flashing guide and there you will find the pit file for froyo

so ranhoover u mean dat i can follow dis way:-????
xxkpe->xxkb3(twice)->ddkb2(twice)

Hi,
I have a i9003 that ran on stock 2.2.1 ROM and I've been having serious SOD problems.
Updated to 2.3.5 ZHKPD last night using KIES. The update was successful but gave me screen blackouts during calls (screen and buttons turned all black whenever I start a call. I heard voice but was never able to turn on the screen again) in addition to SOD problems.
I have then downloaded Odin 1.83, and "I9003ZHKPD_I9003ZZHKP9_I9003XXKPM_HOME.tar" from here and tried to flash my phone again after reading a lot of guides on this forum.
I got a "Can't open the specified file" error from Odin (see attachment). Now when I turn on my phone all I see is a picture with a phone and a computer.
Was the re-partition cause of the problem?
Can someone here please let me know what I can do? To get 2.3.5 back into my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Did u flash XXKPE beefore flashing ???
If you have then try downloading the firmware from another source
I haven't - the "I9003ZHKPD_I9003ZZHKP9_I9003XXKPM_HOME.tar" file is the only one I tried to flash.
It's phone from Hong Kong and I do want to keep something from the stock firmware, such as the Chinese input.
What do you suggest I should do next?
flash it again from xxkpe with the step "re-partition"
Thanks. Did you mean I should first flash it with the "I9003XXKPE" file here?
Will I need the PIT file, and after XXKPE I'll have to flash ZHKPD right?
Well, the only question is: Can you come into download mode?
If you can, just flash KPE>KPD and everything solved.
If you can't get a jig or go to service center.
Thanks. Did you mean I should first flash it with the "I9003XXKPE" file here?

i have downloaded ddkt1 from samfirmware...it contains nly one tar file.... plz tell me detaild procedure right from preparing odin... rep asap...currently m running cm7.1....or at least tell me wat actions i need to perform to flash rom thru cwm.... i mean all such things like format/mount/reset/wipe... etc..m confused
Try this
but do i need to wipe data n all those steps after and before flashing through odin???
no.. ODIN does that automatically for you.
should i use that ops file shown in video to flash the roms (one package) everytime? i guess its the same tat i had used while flashing cwm....shud i use the same ops file that i had used while flashing cwm?
yeah it's the same one.

Hi all.. I helped out a friend to root and install MIUI on his i9003, i myself use a captivate.
These were the steps taken: odin to xxkpe, then odin to xxkp7 then cwm flash to MIUI.
He would like to go back to stock as MIUI is not bug-free and its affecting him. Anyways, i was searching the forum and found a few threads regarding this but I am still confused.
Going back to stock from MIUI/cm7/cm9 from my captivate is just to run odin-1-click and everything is done. Here im using odin v1.85 and wish to go back to I9003DXKP9, as this is the official firmware here.
So in order to go back to stock, i just flash the I9003DXKP9 using odin? Another concern is the I9003DXKP9 firmware has just 1 file :
Code:
I9003DXKP9_I9003OLBKP7_I9003DXKP7_HOME.tar.md5
and when i flashed XXKPE it had 5 files:
Code:
APBOOT_I9003XXKPE_CL409735_REV08_user_low_ship.tar
CODE_I9003XXKPE_CL409735_REV08_user_low_ship.tar
GT-I9003-CSC-MULTI-OXAKPE.tar
latona_20110114.pit
MODEM_I9003XXKPE_REV_00_CL1041909.tar
I also read that if the firmware has only 1 file, just flash the pda and nothing else. So is it safe to assume that the process of going back to stock is just flashing the single firmware for DXKP9 or should i go back to XXKPE and then to DXKP9?? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
its better you first flash xxkpe then one file firmware, if u r reverting back from cm7/ miui/ cm9..
since sometimes phone gets into bootloop when just one file firmware is used to revert back to stock rom...
one file firmware is mainly used to upgrade from another stock firmware...
Hope i helped you..

check whether u r installing the right version of cf root...
install exactly the same version as ur fw has...
or go for universal cf root... its way more convenient...
note: i hope u meant xxkpe instead of xxkp3 ....

The 3 part Firmware contains pit, modem etc
Flashing the one part FW (maybe the one you´ve got) is successfull. So it might be a problem with pit...
unfortunately i´m not quite sure if i explain it right...
actually.. the tar.md5 is the actual firmware that you need to flash via odin.
The pit file is called the partition information table. This contains the information that odin needs to repartition your device if it has some major issues with it.
during the flashing procedure for upgrading to HC or ICS the pit file is not really needed - there is no repartitioning necessary (if your tab is working properly)...
its only needed in a dead device for recovery purposes (to my understanding at least).
Thats the problem: the Tablet is not working. I can flash the 1 Part Firmware with the download mode but it doesnt boot. Somebody told me, that i need a 3 Part Firmware
How to go back to my old ddlf2 firmware from new cm9 EXT4 partition.......

Where is the link for pit.latona file file??????????
^^ It's in the xxkpe zip file. You'll see 4 files. You'll need to follow the guide to flash all 4 files using ODIN.
