[Q] Sending attachments FAIL - help! - Samsung Infuse 4G

Ok, I have tried using the stock Infuse email app, the Gmail app, and Maildroid. Each one has the same issue:
When I try and send an attachment any bigger than about 800k it will not send. It just sits in the OUTBOX.
Now, if I am somewhere where I can enable WIFI and connect then it will send. If I am using cellular data connection (H+/4G) it will not send.
I am not exactly sure what the size cutoff is - I'm sure that I have tried to send a PDF that showed as 800k on the device and it would not send. So I am sure anything over 800k is going to get stuck in the old OUTBOX.
The phone has not been rooted and is using the stock ROM. It has had the latest ATT update.
I have searched everywhere I can think of but cannot find any answers.
I'm beginning to think I am the only person with this issue because I am guessing others would have mentioned it by now.
Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks in advance for any help!

I noticed that also when I first bought my phone one of the reasons it was rooted and rommed in just a few hours I think its an att restriction I just sent a 15mb video with 3g to make sure it would work
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium

I send 5+ mb attachments routinely over k9 mail and gmail with no issues. Sometimes gmail delays them, but sends them through.

Ok,
I rooted and flashed the Infuse with the MIUI rom and it works. Sending attachments over 800k now works without a hitch.
Does anyone know how to get the original stock ATT Infuse email app working on the MIUI 12/31 rom?
The am not fond of the email app that is already installed with MIUI.
Thanks for any help!

I think this is it...pulled it from stock.
if it doesnt run, you have to copy and paste into system/app or use abd to push it.
You can also change the OP title to [SOLVED]
and thanked those who helped you

Can't install it
qkster,
I moved it to system/app and tried to install (device is rooted, ES File Explorer with system write enabled) but it wouldn't install.
Maybe I am doing something incorrectly, but I am not sure what that could be.
Thanks for the help though. Any ideas?

You can try pushing it into the system pak with abd.
Or you can also change the permission of the pak once you have copied it using root explorer, our a similar root tool.
Here is a helpful link.

[Q] My dx won't recieve picture messages

Hello everyone,
As you can see my dx won't recieve picture messages. I am a rooted user and have done lots of research and it mainly leads to the fact that I deleted stock messaging. Supposedly the stock messaging controls the mms receiving. My friends wil send pictures and I won't eveb know until the next day when they ask if I got them. So my question is does anybody know why? And if it is from the fact yhat I deleted stock text, can someone please post it on here so I can dl it and recieve mms again.i
for some reason they take a lil while to come in . but they eventually do. Did you press down on the message and select download ?
Check if you can send the mms's if not you gotta sbf...same thing happened to me
I am pretty sure the blur sms/mms is needed for pics....unless using aosp sms/mms. Though I could be mistaken.

I'm thinking since I deleted the stock messaging apk that is why I can't recieve them. I don't even have the option to long click and stuff. They never come to my phone. As tho it had never been sent but my friends have showed me where they sent them and it never showed up on phone. I am currently looking for updated stock messaging apk file so i can try and dl it and figure out if that was my prob
somtime sthe rooted rom has problems with mms, try using a differnt texting app like Handcent sms which allows you to customize and activate your mms. or it could be your baseband.
I've tried both chomp and handcent and no luck. Now ive found the deodexed messaging apk for my version and when I go to install thru root explorer it says "application not installed". I've copied to system/app folder. Mounted. Changed permissions annd still no luck. Anyone know wutttt else I have to do to reinstall this apk? Please help

After you put it in system/app/ and change permissions you gotta reboot (not try to "install" it).

Please help! Deleted Txt msg app

If anyone can tell me what to do to fix this I'd really appreciate it. I deleted my stock messaging app but now am not able to receive txt messages. Any ideas how to get the messaging app back or how to fix this problem?

Are you rooted?
Stock rom? Ever flashed one before?
Are you on gb or froyo?
You have two options.
Download a rom with a compatible mms, extract the mms from the rom, put it on your phone and push it to system/app then reboot. (need to be rooted)
Or
Flash a custom rom from the dev section. All fixed

Open the zip file of whatever rom you flashed on your computer, assuming it was a CWM rom. Look for Mms.apk, copy that to your sd card, and then push it to /system/app using root explorer or root browser (which is free).

[Q] Team Shogun ICS Rom

Hi I'm new here so it will only let me post in this area for now instead of the actual rom post...
I installed the rom last night and everything looked great!
I'm on wi-fi at home so I didn't notice any data connection problems. As soon as I left the realm of wi-fi I ran into a data connection problem while the browser sill worked as we as sms and phone calls the 4g and signal strength icons in the status bar never turned blue and any app I had that relied on data signal came back with a data connection error i.e. my accuweather and wellsfargo apps. I'm on the original ics leak from July from here.
Any help...
Thanks
PS I did search the original thread for related issues didn't find any.

i guess your "network type" is in Automatic
turn that to either 3G or 2G you'll get your data connection back ..... i tried & got it.
Look over your APN settings.
Try to just reboot your phone. Worked for me. Sometimes when you boot into a custom ROM its necessary to perform a reboot after the cache finishes building.

I tried rebooting a couple of times still had the same problem. Definitely not an apn issue as data still works for sms and chrome. As far as I know there is no toggle on the atrix 2 for 2/3g to 4g this may have changed in ics but there wasn't one on gb. Even the custom stuff I had wouldn't do it. I will double check on that.
This sucks because i really like the rom otherwise no fuss no muss just the stuff I want.
Make sure background data is on, and that you're Google account is signed in. I had problems with my account when I first upgraded to ICS. I resigned in and it worked fine.

Background data has been on as well as my google account. Everything works fine on ics it was just this particular rom.
The apps I was getting errors in are wells fargo and actuweather. Both got network errors and my 4g and signal strength never changed from gray to blue indicating full connection.

Rom was installed on a clean ics install (the July release from here recomended as the only one to use by the devs)
Guess I'll try it again to see if I can get it to work...
Ok reinstalled everything seems to be working fine. Error was human, mine... accidently had clicked on something and didn't realize it.
I even have the wifi hot spot working too. So I'm pretty stoked.
I swear I'm not a newb I'm on many other android forums just hadn't bothered messing with my phone for about eight months.
Thanks for all your replies!
Stock Browser
Gentlemen:
I like the Shogun ROM, but want Chrome browser gone. I uninstall, move the stock ICS Browser from SCV7 to my sd card to install, and it will not install. Just says App not Installed, nothing more specific. A poster in the development section addresses this by suggesting the APK be moved into system/apps folder, then a restart prior to installing. I have tried this as well to no avail. Not sure how many posts I lack to be able to post in the development section, but for now this is as close as I can get. I hope that this is an appropriate place for such a post.

Good question Jerry as I too would like the stock browser. It actually seems faster than chrome to me.

Another question...
I'm having issues with the apex launcher not opening the proper apps etc. Is there anyway to go back to the stock ics launcher also?
OK I've got solutions for both of my issues.
Before you download the files read carfully:
Download files to your PC then copy to your SD card.
Use ES File Manager (free in the app store) to copy or one of the files (whichever you prefer) to the System/App folder. You must go to settings in ES and make sure you have view system files etc. check so you can see the actual folder. ES defaults to opening up the SD card just click the up arrow and it will take you to the system folder. You may have to restart ES after changing the permissions in order for you to see the system folder.
Do Not try to install the apk's it doesn't work that way.
Files:
Browser.apk - 1.79 MB
MotoAtLauncher.apk - 11.31 KB
If this helps please thank me!

extract the archive and put the files in sdcard\titaniumbackup folder..then go to titanium backup and restore..better to restore the app only rather than app+data

[Q] Jelly Bean Lockscreen Circle Notifications?

I've been doing some searching around the web and haven't been able to find a fix for this yet. I flashed the latest Jelly Bean leak last night and noticed that the circle notifications on the lockscreen are gone (the ones for missed calls/new messages). I saw a fix for the Galaxy Note II that involved changing a file name and that would bring those back. Is there any way to bring them back on the S3?

Simple fix. You need a File Explorer app that has Root permissions, access to Root directory, and can mount System files as writable (I recommend ES File Explorer).
In you file explorer, navigate to "/system/csc/" and rename "customer xml" to "customer xml.bak".
Restart your phone. The Lock icon and "verizon wireless" text will be gone from your lockscreen, and the bubble notifications will be back.
I've tried that using CleanRom5 and it didn't work for me :-/

I'm not sure what you guys are doing, but this solution definitely works and has been done by hundreds of people successfully.
My guess is that you don't have the proper root permissions to change the file name (it's a system file). Do it using ES File Explorer. Go into the ES File Explorer settings, go into the Root Settings, and check all of the boxes. Then rename the file. It works on CleanRom 5, I am 100% positive of that.
I have no yet flashed CleanRom5.5, but I am 99% positive this same solution will work on that as well.

Ahh... I thought since I replaced the SecMms apk that it would still work.
I was able to do that fix, but every time I unlock the phone, it shows the hint "swipe this notification to see new messages" or whatever. I changed it back because that was annoying me, but it just kept coming back. If anyone knows a fix, let me know. I miss my bubble notifications.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because it was happening to me too. Go into Application Manager>All Apps and find the app called "Help". Click "Disable". You will only have to to do this once. Only downside is that you will lose all of these little How-To dialogues, not just the one for the bubble notifications, so make sure you know how to use all your apps before you disable this (you can always turn it back on if you need it later). Note: the "How to use motions" guides are separate and will still function even with Help disabled.
Thanks for the tip. it worked for me. Running Clean Rom 5.5.1
If people are still having trouble getting this to work, just add .bak to the end, leave the.xml there.

Using play store, calendar, gmail and Google now
They way I install these are
1) name the app you're replacing ie. MMS.apk to MMS.apk.bak , also do the same for the matching odex file
2) copy the inverted app to system/ app and change permissions to rw-r-r
3) reboot
Note: may not work with jcases method of gaining root, my boot loader is unlocked

I haven't even begun to try any ones that require recovery.. just rooted my X and can't quite figure out to get into recovery easily.. is it as as simple as using Quick Boot? anyway to tell if it's in recovery without ADB?

yep Email didn't work.
Unfortunately I stopped using Blackout apps because of a bug. Every time I would install any Blackout apps, my Hangouts would develop a weird scrolling bug (even if I didn't install blackout hangouts at all). On normal Hangouts when you type a message and send it, it should scroll to the very bottom. But when mine was bugged, it never scrolled after I typed a message, unless someone replied. I could scroll manually but still, drove me nuts. Reinstalling hangouts and it's lib dependance didn't fix it. Reverting blackout apps didn't fix it either. Tried wiping cache, dalvik, wiping hangouts data, nothing. I had to do RSD Lite complete clean flash to make it work properly again.
I really wish I could have them on, if it weren't for the hangouts bug.

It's not the same.
So, is there any way to do this on a verizon one (locked bootloader)? In my attempt to install the blacked out mms, I tried flashing the zip from stock recovery, but it failed to verify. Tried installing the Mms.apk from the zip via adb and pm, and it said INSTALL_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES
so then I signed it with a key as per android doc, and then I got INSTALL_FAILED_UID_CHANGED. so i figured out it was because the /data/data/com.android.mms was still hanging around. removed that, tried again and got INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT. That's where i stopped.
I'm starting to think i'll have to wait till there's safestrap for moto x. If not then let me know what i need to do!

Can you explain what you mean by "manually install it" ? If you mean clicking the apk file and and hitting install, that doesn't work for me. from Root Browser, with system mounted as read write, it just says "App did not install"
If I just copy to /system/app and change permissions, it doesn't actually install it. it's not listed as an app in my applications.
I did figure out that I can restore the titanium backup by mounting /system as read write and restoring the backup, so i have my messaging back, just really want to get blacked out working!
EDIT: another thing I tried was replacing the apk file in the titanium backup with the blacked out apk. That also did not work. Titanium backup just sits there spinning with "restoring app"

Okay, tried your way. It doesn't matter whether I remove Mms.apk, rename it to Mms.apk.bak, or straight overwrite it with the other. Every time the original Mms.apk leaves the /system/app folder, it is removed from the list of installed apps. The Messaging app literally disappears off the screen.
