[Q] How to restore categories and home screens? - LG Optimus 3D

Is there a way to restore categories and home screens when switching ROMs? I restored all apps except the ones in red in Titanium Backup, but that put everything in one big download folder.

Maybe my backup for root

I've googled around for a bit, can't find it.
My guess? First test out which ROM you want, then make it completely right one time.
Good luck with it.

Maybe a useful comment, I don't see the use in it tough. Can you explain this further?

Possible to backup yout HTC Sense "Scene"

I want to switch between roms, then restore apps via TitaniumBackup, then restore my icons on their respective pages.
Possible?
I would love this... Would take a lot of the tedious 're-layingout' of the home screens every day or so.
This should be relatively easy I would think, since there are already 'saved' configurations in the ROMs.

i dont think ive ever heard of anyone finding those files, but i have heard talk of doing it before. any progress on that ever made?
TitaniumBackup DOES allow this to be done. I'm currently running DamageControl 2.07.2, and I restore my HTC Sense desktop everytime I wipe the phone or change ROMs.
Under Backup/Restore, find the one that says "[DESKTOP] HTC Sense", this will allow you to backup and restore the exact Sense layout you're running.
A possible side-effect that I've experienced is that after reboot my HTC widgets disappear, so I use RootExplorer (paid app) to re-install HTCClockWidget.apk under /system/app. That will take care of the disappearing widget.
Hope this helped!!
Fresh Kitchen can do this. Look under the tools tab.
id like to know where the folders are located. it'd really help gain some space.
god, cant wait for the effin evo

Or you can just clear the data in SETTINGS > Applications > Manage Applications > HTC Sense
That brings the widgets back as well... Or at least, brings back the ability to re-add them
Doesn't that also wipe your home screens clean?

but it also means that you'll have to reconfigure the Sense desktop, making the backup and restore useless

Kitchen doesn't support 2.1 roms though. I once backed up my sms from the same screen the backup scene button is on and I restored it to a 2.1 ROM and it went completely wonky and I had to RUU!

Welcome to xda. Also welcome to the hero CDMA froums. Glad to have you aboard. If you dont mind here's a quick tip for you. Check the date of the thread before you post in it because if its as old as this one is then the thread is considered dead. If you have any ??'s or issues with modding your hero just shoot me a pm. [Q] Titanium Backup: Meaning of Colors and Symbols

What is the meaning of the different colors and symbols in the Backup/Restore screen?
you find it by using Menu => Legend, here is a screenshot
just found this out the other day
Thanks. Easy enough
You guys have any problems with TB? Like automatic batch back up not backing up...except maybe 2 or 3 apps?
Not me. Seems to be backing up everything.
Works fine here. Excellent app.

Hey, I had a related query, some apps show up on titanium backup that aren't actually installed. For eg. in my nexus 4 in India, Earth, wallet and such apps aren't supported. And these apps are highlighted in a bluish colour. But I'm just basing this on observation. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thank you!
Updated Screenshot
I know this is an old thread, by almost two years, but if anyone out there is like me, I like being able to reference a document, image, sound, etc. when doing tasks, especially involving removing backups or anything that could potentially harm your system. So here is the latest Legend for Titanium Backup Pro 6.1.5.6

I've had that happen a few times too, not sure why
It certainly is, I'd love to see compatibility with multi window so I can look through my app drawer and maybe to operate a few other apps to check stuff like data or if it might be something I'd actually use. That's future speak though as a lot more apps would, too, need to be multi-window compatible.

Help using Titanium Backup

Guys,
Could someone tell me how do I back up my homescreen settings via titanium backup???? For all the 7 screens....
most of the answers I have seen on google concerning this suggest mybackup pro.
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284364 suggests that T.B. will not backup the widget layout but will backup the widget applications themselves.
Nothing under the T.B. description in the marketplace suggest that you can backup the homscreen either.
Only thing I found is when u choose to do back up of applications and system data there is "HTC Homescreen" in green on the screenshot below. It is in polish but you should find out which one it is. Not sure is this works.

Saving and Restoring Layouts

I have tried searching but haven't found an answer.
Being a relative newbie, I like trying out different ROMS. Is there a way of saving page layouts that can be restored once the new ROM is loaded, or do all my previous pages have to be recreated by hand?
ex-egll
Too many variables and too much potential for config conflicts. best to recreate by hand, or flash less often
If you use a third party launcher and have a backup of that launcher, then when you restore the launcher your home page should be what it was..
Titanium backup..

None of the backup apps will restore the widgets. This is due to the way android works. you will have to reset up the widgets each time you flash a rom.

I have been told that some of the launchers have backups within themselves though. I always use the stock launcher, so I can't, authoritatively, speak any further to it.

You gotta find the one that's listed in all capital letters.
Seriously tho, kill the caps lock when you're posting please.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe restoring the "TouchWiz Home" should get your home screens back.

I believe the poster above is correct. Or you can just install a launcher like Nova that allows you to backup/restore your screens.

Do a restore all missing apps and data from the "batch" menu and you should be good to go. Widgets will have to be re-setup though no matter how you restore.
Not true about widget restore. Make a backup, under system, of application widgets along with everything else you need want backed up. Wipe and flash. Do your full restore of all your backups. Then while still in titanium backup choose application widgets individually and choose restore. Then do a hot boot. On Synergy that option is in the restart menu, or you can use the titanium reboot option. By doing that I get full widget restore. Read this solution searching google for restore android widgets.

Oh cool i will check that out
After looking into this I can't for the life on find any "application widgets" option and I'm not sure what you mean by "under system". Is googled it and it pretty much says the same but I have no option to backup widgets anywhere that I can find.
Can you clarify please?
Go into filters. Choose filter by type: system. Leave the rest as all. Press the check box. You will see everything that is a system app and setting. Application widgets will be there with a green color.
You can also leave everything as all in filter types to see everything. Just make sure to not have anything selected on the labels section.
