[Q] Titanium Backup: Meaning of Colors and Symbols - Android Apps and Games

What is the meaning of the different colors and symbols in the Backup/Restore screen?

you find it by using Menu => Legend, here is a screenshot
just found this out the other day

Thanks. Easy enough

You guys have any problems with TB? Like automatic batch back up not backing up...except maybe 2 or 3 apps?

Not me. Seems to be backing up everything.

Works fine here. Excellent app.

Hey, I had a related query, some apps show up on titanium backup that aren't actually installed. For eg. in my nexus 4 in India, Earth, wallet and such apps aren't supported. And these apps are highlighted in a bluish colour. But I'm just basing this on observation. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thank you!

I know this is an old thread, by almost two years, but if anyone out there is like me, I like being able to reference a document, image, sound, etc. when doing tasks, especially involving removing backups or anything that could potentially harm your system. So here is the latest Legend for Titanium Backup Pro 6.1.5.6

I've had that happen a few times too, not sure why

It certainly is, I'd love to see compatibility with multi window so I can look through my app drawer and maybe to operate a few other apps to check stuff like data or if it might be something I'd actually use. That's future speak though as a lot more apps would, too, need to be multi-window compatible.

Cleaning up / duplicates in "share" menu

I noticed today that I have a duplicate "Messages" entry in my share menu. The icons are 2 different resolutions/sizes, but they both seem to lead to my MMS app.
Is there any way to force Android to rebuild my "share" menu, barring a total reset?
I can live with this, just curious.
(I toyed around with using vanilla MMS in place of Sense, but I rolled back pre-tinker using Nandroid.... maybe that's what caused this?)

Forgive me for necroposting, but this is really relevant and needs a bump. I have 10 items on my share menu, only two of which I use with any regularity, and because the menu alpha sorts I get to scroll every time to get to them. Five of the entries I will absolutely never use. For being one of the best features of the system, the lack of configurability is a really poor bit of UI design
me too, somehow my carrier manged to duplicate every single application on my share menu. The temporary solution a found was through LauncherPro, that has the option to hide/show apps on share menu. Hope it helps till a better solution comes around.
Hm. I see where LP can hide apps from the drawer, but not from the share menu.

[Q] Can Mini Apps be edited/changed?

Hello All,
Just a quick question... can the mini apps at the bottom be changed to use other apps? I called Sammy tech support and they said I'd have to check w/Google since it's built into the ICS OS. I find this odd because I've checked other tabs at Worst (Best) Buy and they didn't have this mini-app tray.
I want to use other apps in its place. I wonder why when you view the mini apps you'll see an "edit" icon, however, when you click on it, everything is greyed out so you cannot edit or switch-out the mini-apps.
Thanks!

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe that lets you add and remove the existing quick apps. Also, it probably isn't out of the realm of possibility that someone could develop a quick app and it would appear, but I bet there isn't a whole bunch of people building these quick apps.

Mini Apps is built into the status bar, not the launcher. it will always be there.
Hate it...i wish i could get rid of the miniapps, sometimes it pressed accidentally and bug my gaming time
If Olny some1 develope mini app for the notes that would be great for ppl who read and like to write quick notes, If Only....
install gmd gesturecontrol to hide the status bar
You wont press any mini apps accidently then. Also when you press edit you double click on a mini app to add/remove it.
You can remove them, they annoyed me so I got rid by following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692173
Obviously make a back-up before deleting the suggested files if you feel you may want thm back at some point (not that I did )!

How to get 4.2 Nexus 10 Launcher!

All credit goes to Droid-Eye here for this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40021984&postcount=6 !!:good:
Anyone who was hoping to be able to use the new launcher (such as myself) will be happy to know that you can! It appears that the option is there in the 4.2 OTA update, it is just hidden from the settings menu. I assume that Asus are probably still working on it and will release it in a future update.
The only modification I made to Droid-Eye's method was to simply use a setting shortcut widget rather than an entire launcher option such as ADW.
I used 'Secure Settings' from Google Play, which is free. Please bear in mind you also need an Ipack for an icon for your shortcut. Luckily Secure Settings has a handy link to download free ones from Google Play when you are setting up your shortcut.
I hope it helps anyone desperte to try out the new launcher style. It seems many people hate the new launcher, and I'll admit that I did myself the first time I saw it. However, it has grown on me and I'm going to give it a run to see if I like it over the old style. I can always change back...for the moment anyway.
Note: There is no need to be rooted or unlocked to do this. You can always change back to previous launcher by setting up another shortcut widget in the new style launcher. Your tablet will need to restart to make the change, that is normal.
Screenshots.
As Droid-Eye correctly pointed out, the home soft button doesn't line up with the app draw button. I haven't found any other bugs yet.

The instructions worked well for me. So far I keep looking for the buttons in the wrong place. But overall the tablet seems snappier with this launcher. I also do like that the notifications shows across the top so you can see a lot more of the text.

I didn't even think about giving this its own thread. Hopefully, more people will consider trying the new layout now instead of just sticking with the status quo. I know not everyone will prefer them but it's always better to have the choice (I mean, this is Android after all).
Thanks for the credit.

Thanks, man. I've been playing around in the activities shortcuts since I first got my brand new (at the time) Moto Droid with 2.0.1(to give you a time frame). I've found all kinds of cool stuff that way and it's nice finding solutions that don't require root once in a while. I highly recommend combing through the system activities if only just to see if there's anything hiding, waiting for a later update. This is how I found Face Unlock before they were ready to give it to us, too (though it took some interesting hoop jumping to get it to actually work). Also how I found the stock android dialer so I could try it wwith different SIP clients (still a work in progress).
Anyway, dig through the activities. Guaranteed you'll find something to play with in there.

Maybe check the tf300 threads (since they're the only other ones with this ability) and see if anyone's found a workaround for it. If it's happening for them too and there isn't a fix, I'm sure GMD will want to know about it so it can be fixed before the rest of the tf700 and tf201 communities run into it. Either way, keep the shortcut handy and you can always toggle back whenever they update the app.

The setting is there, just the Secure Settings tool is less than intuitive. Keep looking around at the tool. I had to look at the sample picture in the second post several times before I figured out what it was showing. I'll post instructions later in the evening when I have time if no one else does.

After you have selected to create a widget using secure settings, pick an app, wait, and select settings. Next, you can click the .settings textfield. That will bring up a long list where you have to pick the .settings#launcherSwitchSettingsActivity. (Almost at the end of the list) Save.
Give the shortcut an appropriate name, pick an icon, and save the shortcut.
Just install Nova launcher.

[Q] UCCW is getting buggy for my all of a sudden...

I'm trying to incorporate images into some widgets, but the app, as of yesterday, keeps bogging down as soon as I try to load one. I'll click the image I want then it goes back to UCCW and nothing happens. The generic image icon still remains, I can click to switch between objects, but it won't actually switch. What could be causing this? I downloaded a bunch of fonts a few nights ago, but the app was working fine up until yesterday. The app works just fine so long as I don't attempt to import an image file. If anyone has an idea, please let me know. I'm working on a huge project.

[Q] Higher prioritize app not to be killed over another?

I noticed when playing my music w/ Viper FX that the sound quality goes from using the drivers of the app to stock flat (audio quality depreciates) since the app was killed while performing another task (such as opening hangouts or other apps while using phone). I noticed that Android doesn't release the RAM from another app that was being used (ex. ESPN, hangouts, etc) since those apps were more recent while Viper was opened and left. I was wondering if there existed anything to set a higher priority of the Viper FX (or other apps) over some so they won't be killed even if newer used? Thanks for any information.
Think this would probably be the easiest way: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartprojects.MemoryLocker - the developer is very well known for these kinds of mods and RAM management. Adjusting the oom ratio will give the app higher priorities so make it less likely to be killed. I'm sure there are ways to manual doing it via adding a script or something, but time and effort for all that, I dunno if it's worth it unless you really like to tinker and do stuff manually.
Thank you, that will probably be easier way with root. Was checking to see if any way to do manually since don't need just for Viper but may have to do it.
Ah, sorry. I was thinking that you had to have root for Viper, so that you were already rooted. Pretty sure there isn't a way to make these kinds of tweaks without root either manually or via an app like Memory Locker. There really isn't a compelling reason NOT to root, in my opinion. It's not complicated (compared to most other phones) and is fairly easy to reverse. If you'd like some help with it, lemme know.
I am rooted, sorry. Would it be possible to push the app from user app status to system app (via file explorer/permissions) (such as MusicFX)? Installed normally and it works great but maybe, if by making a system app, it'd be less likely to be killed versus user?
Don't want to use titanium backup push to system, had bad experiences and will not use the app again for some time.
Theres discussion about putting viper in /system/priv-app in one of the two viper thread's in themes and apps (n5).
I still have mine in /data/data.

Hi,
I have not tested and I don't know if it will be useful but there is an Xposed module to keep apps in memory, maybe you can try... This module is not only for this, there is other features.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437377.
- Resident in memory: If set, the system will try much harder to keep the app in memory even when you leave it. It might make the app more responsive when reopening but will also consume more RAM, possibly slowing down the overall system.

Well I don't know if this is something that we can do or something the people who made the Viper audio mod need to do. Wouldn't a good way to keep it in memory be to keep a persistent notification? It really bumps up an app's priority in Android when it has an on-going notification up on the notification bar.

Yeah, exactly that. I just installed it again after a clean wipe of my phone a few days ago and have begun tinkering with it and JUST found that setting. To OP: enable the persistent notification. That'll make sure Viper4Android a high priority app when it sweeps through its open apps looking for one to close.

I think "hiding" it is actually "preventing" it, thus undoing what you want to achieve.
I think further discussion should join the viper4android thread, to keep it all in one place....

I am not sure on this one. The first thing that comes to mind is long-pressing the notification, going to App info, then unchecking the box that says "Show notifications". However, I think if you do that, it lowers its importance, circumventing the advantage of showing the notification in the first place, and you're back to square one. So I guess I don't know how to help you with this part.
Yeah, I suppose we should probably move to the thread listed above, too.
