Need help asap - Captivate General

I haven't changed ROMs my phone for over a year but figured it was time for an update (was running froyo up until now). I always flash to stock via odin 3 before a new flash but today I was having a particularly difficult time doing it. After 30 minutes I FINALLY got it odin to register it (one click for eclair with bootloaders) and now I've been waiting for over 45 minutes on "Set PIT file..." and "DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET". No clue what's going on but in the past it never took this long for odin. Can anyone tell me what I should do now? I can provide SS of what odin is saying if that will help.
Also I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, don't know where else to post this.
EDIT: just read the sticky, posted this in the q&a and I"m sorry for posting this in the wrong place.

One click odin????

Is it possible to make a one click odin for our phones???
the story.....
my friend gave my his samsung captivate to unlock and root. I had all of that done. Then he asked me to put a ROM on there. Thats where i FU**** up and i bricked it bad. screen blacked out wouldnt boot into recovery NOTHING. i was searching around and found a one click odin for the captivate...long story short i have the phone back up and running.
This would be VERY helpful
THANKS
The thread where i found it
http://androidforums.com/samsung-captivate/140190-whats-odin.html#post1527154
I must be missing something, cause that thread looks like it's using the exact same steps as our normal method for Odin. I see no One Click link or instructions anywhere there.
Also, this belongs in the General section.
sorry for wrong section...
scrool down till you find a post by james 27007 September 5th, 2010, thats everything i did it has the link to download the program
but basically all it is you have you phone booted into recovery plugged into to recovery the program says device found then all u do is let it run when the device resets your back bone stock
That's basically all we have to do now... the only added step is putting in the pit and PDA...
yea but with this program all you do is click start and it does everything for you
You still have to install the drivers, and get your phone into download mode, that's the hard part for most users. I'm not sure how he made that.
okay well i just thought id see because i see alot of people asking questions about where to put the files and stuff like this just thought it would help
Odin is already so easy to use... a child could use it no reason to make it more simple

[Q] T-Mobile SGS 4G Problems

I've been having hours of issues with this damn phone and I'm just short of throwing it in the wall.
After trying for hours by rebooting both computer and phone, installing and reinstalling drivers, trying odin continuously I finally got the phone to update to 2.3.6 Gingerbread from my rooted 2.3.3.
After, I tried rooting the newer 2.3.6 and it seems I took two steps backward. The phone has been stuck with a "Firmware upgrade fail! Try using recovery mode message" for hours now. Odin is stuck at either "Initialization" or "Setup Connection" when I try loading 2.3.6 again.
HELP Please! This thing is driving me nuts.
--Yes I've searched all over for a solution and still didn't find one that worked.
Is odin recognizing your phone?
Yes it's detecting the com port. But keeps stucking after flashing starts. I've tried changing ports and it's the same ****.
If it's deteting the phone you'll be fine. What are you trying to flash. If you want stock I'd use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353176
Then you'll need to dl one of these for odin to get root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194032
wish i was as confident as you mate...screenshot attached.
Yeah its stalled on you. DL the first file I linked you to. Shut down odin. Leave your phone in dl mode. Restart Odin. Follow the OP. Plug phone into odin. Flash. It's possible you have a bad DL and that's what's causing odin to hang.

Will do mate thnx. I'll start again. I've seen reports that people successfully root using drhonk KJ1 so I'll use that once the ROM loads fine.
/sigh
You'll be able to root no problem with one of honks kernels. After that you will have CWM3. You should then DL this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513287
Then flash it through CWM. That kernel will get you to CWM5 so you'll be able to do nand backups and restores. Let me know how it goes.
Finally got in going mate. I changed the pc then followed your recommendations. Rooted
Now to update to latest CWM.
Yeah odin can be a liitle tempermental at times. Glad you got it. Let me know if you need anything else. Just so you know there are some really good custom ROMs in the dev section if you wanna go that route.
Certainly thanks much. Will take a look at those.
No worries.

unroot s3

So I rooted my phone about a month ago and I'm wanting to unroot it and go back to stock. I followed the unroot post in the developers section and did everything right...or so I thought. I downloaded the stock ROM dated 12/12 and went into Odin to flash it and it freezes on the mapping step. I restarted the phone and the computer, downloaded another stock ROM from a YouTube video someone posted on here, tried another USB port. Nothing worked. My phone works fine I just want to go back to stock to get the factory update.
Why don't you just flash a rom that is K3? It's the exact same thing.
There an app called mobile Odin there some videos on YouTube about if you can't use ur computer if that helps a ill
Thanks I'll try that tonight...that mapping step is a killer for me...I had to go to the bar before I three my phone AT a brick

Umm, why are you even following that? Do you have a Verizon S3 or an international model?
For the Verizon model, returning to stock is simple, and its spelled out in a series of simple steps listed in the development Guide. I will link you to that Guide, please read Section 5 regarding retuning to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Regarding Odin, all you will tick is "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time". Do NOT check anything else. Flash the file in the "PDA" section. Do NOT flash anything in any section other than PDA.

[Completed] Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959 Bricked?

I flashed a MIUI rom which didn't work well on my phone and started to hang. All of a sudden it just shut down and nothing was there. I later used Odin 1.7 and the stock rom and 512 pit file to flash it back to stock. The process was successfully complete and it restarted the phone. However, the phone screen is completely black at the point where it is supposed to show the home screen. When I touch the haptic buttons at the bottom it lights up but that is it. Nothing happens.
I tried to go to recovery mode by pressing BOTH VOL BUTTONS and POWER BUTTON. It says Android system recovery <2e> as the title. At this point if I want to install a new custom ROM I have to select reinstall packages. I do that and it shows error in red font as follows:
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
There are fixes to this error that involves connecting the phone with the PC through USB but my phone doesn't start at all as I have mentioned earlier.
Have I completely lost this phone?
Please understand that you need to flash a Custom Recovery before you can flash custom Rom. The Stock Recovery that you have will not be able to flash Custom Roms. Here's a thread that describes how you can do so. What I do wish to caution is that you should ensure the phone is working optimally before you proceed with Custom Roms. If there are no issues otherwise, then you can proceed to flash a Rom of your Choice.
Hello,
When I searched, I found the following thread: ** [GUIDE] FIX AND RESCUE YOUR VIBRICK + ODIN SUPPORT! N00b Friendly **.
The secont part could help you: "NO-BOOT PHONES".
Good luck!

Yes. I found it too. However, when I followed the procedure I stupidly checked Repartition in the Boot Cycle process. I was on this phone for five hours and it was around 4 or 5 in the morning and I was sleepy. :'( I don't know if that irreversibly took away my only chance at bringing back my phone.
I tried the same process with repartition unchecked but I guess the damage was done by then. FML.
I think at this point you're going to have to comb through the vibrant Q&A section for similar issues and see if any fixes help. The guys in that forum section know the best, hopefully there's an answer there somewhere.
The guide posted above didn't help, not sure we here can do much more.
You could post your problem there too....again, the members there know what they're doing with that particular model.

Good luck my friend!!

@MiniGunnR, I do not believe you have permanently bricked the device. All you need is correct partitioning of your phone to get it back. This is usually done with the help of .PIT Files that are flashed via Odin. A PIT File simply put is a file with Partition information on the Device. Here's a thread that explains what its all about. remember that thread is NOT for your Device. Its just for your information. In the thread @Hammer_Of_The_Gods had linked, you will find there are PIT files for download. Make sure they are for your exact device specifications. If in doubt, you can ask on that thread.
EDIT - If you open a new in Vibrant's Q&A Section, I am sure there'd be someone would love to help you there.
Sometimes a different version of Odin can help too. I know on my S2, I had 3 goto versions for doing different things. Maybe try that.

frp lock on in download mode

usb debugging turned on. oem unlock turned off. i can only go into download mode and android recovery mode. ive tried flashing stock firmware and it fails giving me [CM] SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 3, BINARY: 2 ive reading different forums and trying different things. any help would be greatly appreciated
What version are you trying to flash? What version were you on? There was an update that Samsung pushed that blocked flashing older versions. That's what it sounds like to me. Try going to the moar thread and looking for his stock tar files and download the most recent.

@judetie Would you mind telling me why you had to open up a whole new post thread while I was trying to help you on the other thread right here,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...l/frp-lock-marshmallow-cracked-t3356365/page3
Opening new threads on the same exact topic not only does it clutter up our forums with the same topic over and over again, it's also seriously disrespectful to the people like myself who were taking time out of my day trying to help you in the first place in the other thread!!! We don't need or WANT 10 different FRP Lock help threads cluttering up all over and you did was add to that!! I told you want your problem was and gave you a solution to try to fix it and if you don't like the answer then you wait for someone else to offer another idea but opening new threads 10 minutes later because you didn't like the answer I gave you, just so you can try to force quicker responses on xda isn't going to work out for you here because we treat each other respectful and work together!! Thanks for cluttering our forums with the same exact crap!!!
Sorry
