[Q] Use Secure Credentials - Unchecked After Rebooting Phone - General Questions and Answers

The basic problem is that when connecting to an enterprise wifi network, you must enter a password for using secure credentials. The password entered is only valid for that session and does not survive a reboot. After rebooting, the check-box for "Use Secure Credentials" under the Security settings screen is unchecked. The phone will continue to try and connect to the enterprise wifi network (failing each time) until the "Use Secure Credentials" checkbox is checked and the password is entered.
I saw that there were several threads under several different phone subforums discussing this same issue. The closest solution I found was an app called Keystore Unlocker. Unfortunately, it does not work with the current version of su and appears to be abandoned.
I'm looking for any suggestions on how to automatically enable this option following a reboot. Any options including paid apps are perfectly fine. I'm also rooted.

Did you find a solution to this? It is really annoying.
Many thanks.

Nope.
It's pretty crazy that there is no way this can be done - even on a rooted phone.

Keystore Unlocker (root only)
An elegant solution to this issue. Works perfectly!

Fantastic!
Thanks for posting.

A strange thing happened. The Keystore Unlocker app stopped working for me. Previously, when my phone was booting up, I would see two "grants" for su for this app - one was for Keystore Unlocker and the other was for root. Now, when I reboot, I only see the first one. Strange thing is, when I do the "lock/unlock" test in the app, it works fine.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Cleared entries from Superuser. Reinitialized the keystore. Deleted and readded WiFi profiles. Cleared cache and Davlik.
Any other ideas?

For anyone following along, the most recent update to the Superuser app is what broke Keystore Unlocker. I downgraded and it's working again.

Snapdragon Battery Guru Admin access settings

Hello,
I am new to this form so please excuse me if i leave out some details but i own a oneplus one black 64gb running the latest ota cm11 update and one day I decided to explore a new app called "snapdragon battery guru." (it was new to me atleast) The app worked great for a week or 2 but then i noticed that my service was being messed up by the app(this isnt the issue) so i looked up some reviews and i saw many other people with the same problem so I decided to uninstall the app... (This is where the problem starts)
After uninstalling the app my phone constantly has messages on common things that i use most importantly the "disable lock screen" when on the home profiles so that i dont have to type in my password at home all the time. However, after uninstaling the app, that option in the profile settings is grayed out and says that it is "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage"... again i looked it up on google and found that clearing my credential storage seems to be a temporary fix that last about 2 hours and then the option ends up graying out again. (which can get really really annoying because my vpns are constantly cleared out every time)
Can anyone please help me with this problem!
Thanks
Jiggy
Have you tried a factory reset? That's your best option.

Settings, security, device administrator, what do you have enabled there

Android for Work broken after device reset

I have been using succesfully this service : https://enterprise.google.com/android/experience for a year, without problem.
Recently I reseted my device due to some problems related to play store, and now, when I want to configure again my work profile, it just get stuck.
The app that enables work profile is that one -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.work.clouddpc
I tried to :
- Delete my work profile and recreate a new one
- Delete cache and data for the app
It starts the process without any problem, but then it gets stuck at "registering your profile" for 5-10 minutes, after giving up.
Found nothing on the internet, and google support is not helpful either.
I would appreciate some clue on how to solve this.
Try this app. Maybe it helps. It's open source, don't worry.

Click to collapse
Happens to me sometimes and I just re-enable it in the app settings.
I ended up wiping all security settings restricting access to the phone, wiped and disabled fingerprints, dropped intune so I could remove the startup password and pattern. Rebooted, readded fingerprints and password and now the misbehaving apps (including HSBC banking, Tesco apps and lastpass) all recognise and use fingerprints as expected.
I'd already dropped and readded fingerprints and that by itself didn't do it, but in effect resetting security settings did it for me!
Kudos to whoever came up with this solution!

Android Lost App - All Permissions Granted But Still Says Missing

I'm trying to resolve an issue with the Android Lost app, and unfortunately the developer's forum page is closed. It does no good to contact him via email, as I always receive a canned response due to the many emails he receives. I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me troubleshoot.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared cache and data, but every time I reinstall Android Lost v3.26 on my wife's Google Pixel 3a running Android 12, I get the same following issues:
First, it opens and says Personal Notes, PIN code required. It will only take the old PIN.
How is it remembering the old PIN if I have completely uninstalled, deleted its data, rebooted the phone, etc? (Yes, I removed the Administrator permissions)
After entering the correct PIN, I get a popup, "Use Your Location", which I click OK.
It then instantly pops up the next window:
"Some Permissions are missing. For this app to work as expected you must accept the permissions. Let us go through them one by one."
I click OK. (It does NOT go through any permissions for me to select.)
Once again, instantly, another window pops up:
"Not all permissions were accepted. Most likely you have clicked deny and never ask again. To allow permissions you must go to your phone's settings menu and set it manually."
I click OK.
So I go to my phone's settings, and allow all permissions for the Android Lost app, YET, when I run the troubleshooter from the app, I get the results shown on the attached pic, Test12-Missiing Permissions.png.
I have also attached the log file generated by the Android Lost app.

Have you tried to reset your app launcher? I've had this problem and by clearing data in my launcher it reset my screen and all the apps pop back up.
Just tried by clearing the data and cache for the Pixel Launcher, but it made no difference.
One of the options for troubleshooting is to start from scratch and register your email again by clicking the button, Re-register at Google. Yet, when I click it, it says "Please Wait...", then 3 seconds later it says "No Google account found on phone - This app was NOT registered."
I can confirm, my wife's Google email is on this phone, so I'm not sure why it is saying that.

Fingerprint login to apps stopped working

Hi, my phone has stopped allowing me to log on to apps via fingerprint although I can still unlock the phone using fingerprint. The Nationwide banking app just says "We couldn't set up biometric login", and eBay says "Biometric registration failed, biometric sign in is not enabled". It has worked in the past. Is there a setting I'm missing? I can't find anything. I found advice to reboot to safe mode, delete fingerprint and pattern login, reboot and set them both again but that didn't work. Has anyone any suggestions please?
Phone is Lenovo P2 with LineageOS 20.
Thanks, Simon.
