I am bit confused. Is there any way I can install Honeycomb on my newly bought Infuse 4g? I am not really versed on these technical jargon.
Thanks

Honeycomb is only for tablets. Preventing people from shoehorning it into phones is one of the specific reasons Google has withheld the HC source code until Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is released.

Maybe you are looking for gingerbread? It is available currently via Infused v2, assuming you aren't using a Roger's infuse that comes with it initially.
Sent from my Infuse using my fingers.
Yes, I think I meant gingerbread. How do I install it?
Thanks

Follow the instructions in the Infused v2 thread
so does that mean factory installed is infuse v1?

No that's AT&T Stock. Infused v1.x was a "cooked" ROM based on AT&T stock firmware with bloat removed and some custom tweaked.
Similarly, Infused v2 is based on Rogers stock but has customizations
Factory installed was Froyo 2.2.1. Gingerbread is 2.3.3(presently).
As Entropy stated, Infused is an aftermarket ROM that was built from the gingerbread source that he got from the Roger's Infuse. There has not been an official release for the AT&T Infuse in regards to gingerbread. Infused v1 is Froyo. Infused v2 is Gingerbread. None of it will be stock or "factory" though. It's all been tweaked and modified to run much more efficiently than the stock software.
can any of you be kind enough to direct me to the link where I can download and go step by step how to install it? I am bit getting confused with what Roger is is and what ROM is and etc...

infused infuse helping other infused infuses?
I just want to thank everyone who replied in this thread for answering this guys question and explaining it to him. Nothing miffs me more than these threads where someone immediately tears into a newbie telling them to use the search feature. Granted that should be tried first, but sometimes people are here because they are trying to learn something technical (without a technical background) and don't know how to effctively use the search feature. I've been in the field over 15 years and sometimes get irate with search tools not doing what I want. Anyway...I just wanted to say kudos to everyone for showing some respect (and manners).

Roger is Canadian operator just as AT&T is USA operator.
ROM is kind of operating system as for your PC.
For those who have AT&T Samsung infuse 4g they have stock rom as FROYO and so far ATT has not released Gingerbread for it whereas Canadian Infuse comes with Gengerbread.
So, GTG has made a custom rom based on Roger's gingerbread for ATT Infuse users(may be Canadians also using this rom).
If you do not know what rom is then i assume you do not know how to install it.
I suggest use your phone as it is and wait till ATT updates your phone to Gingerbread(when? i do not know)
And meanwhile read and learn about this stuff before actuall installing it.
Else you may mess up your phone.

People are usually more receptive to questions like this in Q&A, and he did properly post in Q&A.
Cluttering a development thread is what gets you torn apart.
Thank you all very much all being really helpful and kind. I was bit hesitant to post since you guys all seem really knowledgeable about all this stuff. Very glad that I found this site.
I have installed gingerbread to my tablet computer before and I am assuming that the process is not too different. It felt pretty easy. Tablet computer and smartphone is all very new to me. It is my first smart phone and very excited to play around with it.
Anways, just wanted to thank you all for the valuable information you guys post in here.
In many cases it's a matter of availability. If Gingerbread is not available anywhere for a device, it can be a MAJOR undertaking to get it working on that device.
That's why we didn't have any reliable Gingerbread releases until after Rogers released the Infuse with Gingerbread in Canada - prior to that there was no firmware to base things off of, and in the case of Cyanogenmod 7, no place to pull the vendor-proprietary components from.
However, until AT&T releases Gingerbread, any Gingerbread release you find will have some degree of "Canadian" flavor - no HDMI (Canadians didn't get it as a feature), somewhat limited data speeds in some areas, and in the case of Infused v2, apparently some apps actually treat English (USA) and English (Canada) differently enough to say "go away". (Mainly Amazon MP3 at this point.)
Okay so I was on a few different LTE devices for a while (Charge and Revo) , and I am about to be back on a Thunderbolt in a few days.
When I was originally on the Tbolt, it was April, we barely had a Gingerbread Leak and I believe MR2 had been leaking around.
My question to you guys is, what's the best root method currently (ADB, or Revolutionary?) and also....
What radio should I be on when I get the device to be able to enjoy most of the roms out there. I'm hoping to be able to enjoy some Gingerbread.
Sorry for the newbness as I have been a crack flasher with Odin and other Samsung stuff that I completely lost track of Tbolt development.

haha, what a coincidence, i just got done reading your entire thread.
So basically its the same as before.. all GB based roms are working on ANY MR2 radio.
Gotcha
What radio do you recommend? at the time when I left the Tbolt, MR2 was causing reboots on people.
Also, is the recovery that revolutionary comes with a decent one in terms of being able to perform backups, etc?

some people for some reason still believe radios from 6 months ago are better than current ones.

The most recent CWM is good, but the early 5.x releases had some issues. Not sure what the newest one is. I'm still on 3.something... cuz it just works.
There's a lot of opinion in radios. Right now I'm using the RUU 1.70 CDMA radio with the RUU 2.11.605.3 LTE radio. Generally there's not a big difference. I'd say the 2.10 and newer radios, including the 1.70 radios, are probably the most popular at the moment.
I seem to get better download speeds with the 802 radio than the 906. Not sure about the lte one yet though. Is there a combined release of the 906 for cdma and lte

The radio could be anyone of the GB radios. Best bet is to take a few for a drive and see what works best for you. I use the 802 with good results. I used Revolutionary and everything was soooooo easy. The recovery in revolutionary is very easy too. The only big question is what ROM to use. I would suggest to try the one that lasts a long time (name omitted because of a spat between this forum and their Devs). I hope you can read beween the lines. And there's a host of AOSP ROM's too. Good luck and let us know what you choose.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I have one more question, with the OTA that is about to come out. Is that going to be rootable? I'm afraid the phone VZW ships me will already have the update
1-14-11 Update: Some, remain disappointed that the ICS update remains in flux prior to its release on the G2x phone series.
I have carefully updated the FAQ below to address all the concerns raised in the various replies. Hopefully to those critical, your thorough review of differences and key updates in the FAQ, as reflected below, shall meet with your satisfaction.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Here it is: The ICS release on the G2X FAQ.
QUESTION: Has the CM team said they are working on it, and they will release it free of charge when its done?
ANSWER: YES
QUESTION: LG has basically said that the entire series of phones released on the G2x reference platform will all be getting ICS, so LG will release ICS for the G2x, and the only factor is now total time right?
ANSWER: Yes yes yes yes yes. The G2x is getting ICS.
QUESTION: So basically ICS is coming to the G2x from both official and unofficial channels.
ANSWER: YES
QUESTION: Will you tell me when ICS for the G2X. done, and post a thread announcing it, and allow me to download it and use ICS.
ANSWER: YES
QUESTION: Is it done yet? Is ICS ready for the G2x now? Now? How about now? waiting waiting NOW? I just heard a new rumor that it running and ready and its ready and I just want to confirm is it finally done now?
ANSWER: NO
QUESTION: I was told that being a total butt-wipe and protesting and saying that I will boycott LG and Nvidia is going to help the developers These butt-wipes want me to go in and start wiping with them. Will this help get ICS on the G2x faster.
ANSWER: NO.
QUESTION: I would like a fresh update on the status of the ICS build for the G2x....so.....IS THE ICS UPDATE READY NOW?????
ANSWER: NO.
QUESTION: I have suddenly become aware that the ICS update has been released, that everyone is using it, and that there has been no public posting about how to download the new ICS update. Can I have it now since you are all using it.

QUESTION: I am really wanting this ICS, can I have the ALPHA BETA ANDROMEDA Strain testing version now.
ANSWER: NO, when its ready you can have it.
QUESTION: Hey guess what phone X just got ICS up and working, but the G2x does not. I think our developers suck. I am going to create a thread that blames Nvidia for this shameful delay, but anyone reading between the lines will see that I think our developers suck, and that all the good developers are working on other phones. Sooooo would starting a thread to shame the developers for not being all that good be a way to get ICS on the my G2x faster.
ANSWER: NO.
QUESTION: Phone Z just got it, looks like we are going to be 3rd and at least 6 days after phone Z, this sucks, I just started a thread saying the same, and have posted excessively on 6 other similar threads. This is helpful and helping the developers right?

QUESTION: I have no need for any of the new features on ICS, but want to overclock my G2x with ICS so as I can post my high numbers for benchmark scores. Since I am a real power-user right along with Pi using the phone to the fullest, can I get a special early release of ICS.

ANSWER: Its not done yet.
QUESTION: How about now?
ANSWER: NO
Note: For others wanting to re-purpose this FAQ for their phones, a shout-out for tombaker would be nice.
Dude, this is great. One question though-

how about now? can we have it?
Awesome! I really like the part about needing ics features. Don't misunderstand, I want ics as much as the next guy, but in reality my phone can already do everything I ask of it. I've played with a galaxy nexus and my phone does pretty much what it does, just goes about some of it a little different.
Sorry but I don't have the time to read through the whole thread and I just have one question or concern:
I've heard that ICS is ready for some devices so doesn't that mean that it's ready now? I just need a beta version for the facial recognition feature. I'm also going to start a thread flaming LG for not releasing an official version.
nice post. however, let me phrase it this way.. is..? hehe..
thanks for the updates!
I saw a YouTube video of the g2x running ics. Can I haz now
Also lg hates us g2x owners so I will make a petition to let them know we bought there phone. Since they announced a ics release for all there other phones they must hate g2x really bad.

I'd have to say... Everyone but possibly tainle was being sarcastic.
I have to take issue with one part of this Faq...
That LG has said the 2X is getting ICS is not true - they *NEVER* said that the G2X will get it. You may disagree with me here, but this is an *important* distinction. Why?
1) T-Mobile has to REQUEST and APPROVE the update for it to happen.
2) T-Mobile has a history of NOT Requesting and Approving updates for devices with "nearly identical except for the radio" devices in the past - such as the Vibrant, which got no Gingerbread despite *every* other major Galaxy S variant having it.
Until LG specifically says "G2X" is getting ICS, I would put it into the column of "maybe" and not definitely.

True, but they did say the O2x would get the update. It almost certainly wouldn't be stock, but devs on the forum have made it seem like it isn't the most difficult thing porting to the G2x. Mind you, I have absolutely no idea myself, so it could be very difficult. It's still probably easier than writing drivers or finding ways to hack the phone around existing already compiled ones.
EDIT: My bad, forgot that I've only seen ports from one to the other of CM7 based things like MIUI.

I don't know which Devs said porting it would be easy, but so far NOBODY has been able to port G2X and O2X Roms either direction with stock LG Code. CM based Roms, YES, but Factory Stock, NO... The radio files are very different and all attempts to port - by some very talented Devs - have ended in a nice looking rom that can't make calls.
That's not to say that if ICS were the prize, someone couldn't come up with a way, but it's *still* not a guarantee.
EDIT:
Not trying to create drama or anything, but I just think that a FAQ should stick with the facts and not hopes.

I agree, the carriers don't want interchangeability of phones with their competitors' services. That's why the radio frequencies are not shared, they're fragmented between the carriers as is Android for their phones. I only recently got an Android phone but I now realize that the Open Source promise is a fraud.

There is at least potentially one P999 device sold as an Optimus 2X - by Wind Mobile. Potentially there may be another sold by Cincinnati Bell Wireless.
LG says ALL O2X devices are getting ICS. There is a P999 sold as O2X. How is there even debate over this? After getting sued once over failing to deliver a ROM update, do you think LG is really going to fool around with technicalities?
Thats probably something else to consider from LGs point of view. TMobile didn't get sued, LG did. If I were running LG, I would make very sure to fulfill my promises this time around.

How is the android open source promise a fraud? I mean you do realize that they released ICS source right? Up until recently, they couldn't control what vendors did with their phones. Now, with Android being the most used phone OS, they have a little more control on everything.
A lot of people tend to blame Google/Android for the mistakes brought on with a company's phone. I know that an iPhone fanboy here at work made a comment everytime about Android when my G2x died, when it was obviously the phone itself.
Hey guys, ive been wanting to buy a Galaxy note for a while, but I went into Best Buy and played with a dummy phone, well it was a lot bigger then I thought it would be. So I ended up getting a skyrocket. I love it, but I read that last year ATT released 2.3.6 for it. Mine is still 2.3.5 and OTA says its fully updates, and Kies says that it is the latest firmware. So whats the problem? Why can't I update to 2.3.6?
Also, when I go to the Market, I can click individual apps to update, but I can't find an 'update all' button.
Sorry, new here and coming from an iPhone, learning a lot.
Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of Android! It's a fun ride.
For whatever reason, AT&T/Samsung pulled the update for 2.3.6 from the OTA/Kies.
I'm not sure an official reason why was given for this... but I can't help but wonder if it's something with LTE...
anyway...
The official rooted version of 2.3.6 is in the development section if you wish to use it,
but as far as I can tell, I don't see any benefits of 2.3.6 over 2.3.5 for any real practical reasons. (I.E. battery life, bugs, features go unchanged).
I have the GSII Skyrocket with 2.3.6 and my wife has her with 2.3.5. All our features of our phones work exactly the same way. The only thing I can confirm is, she can change her radio band between 850 to 1900... and my radio is locked (which is explained in the development section under the radio post).
Don't worry too much about it. Android 4.0.3 will come along soon enough and you won't even care about 2.3.6.
quick question for you guys i traded my infuse to a lady for an htc vivid well before i did so i updated it to gb 2.3.6 thinking i did her a favor. well apparently the lady is having serious issues with the phone, i have a moral problem with this and wish to make it right she wants to know if i can put the phone back to froyo as a last resort for her. i dont mind doing it at all she offered to pay i said no. i really just need some links to downloads and stuff to get this done even just a youtube video ive been searching two days and havent found anything i just dont think i know what im looking for lol thx guys.

not sure how i missed that with the 2 weeks of reading ive done here already. Got it figured out though thanks. intitially I thought i bricked my phone with odin, only to find out i got to the alternative d/l screen somehow. im back on froyo though.kk
I also recommend a GB rom even CM7 Kang edition so if she feels the urge out of nowhere or has kids to theme it for her, it'll be a simple download away, and there is the stability and everything works. QBKing has videos showing every step to flash.. so for a person who is new to flashing (noob), it's an easy fix, she'll be grateful for it.. Flash all my friends phones for them for free too, nor would I ever charge anyone to do it for them, I just appreciate their faces when they first get to start using their phones and it's blazing fast.. such a good feeling..
