So I recently got a second-hand LG Cookie and I was wondering if I could flash it to Android. I've looked around on the Interwebz but nobody seems to have any useful information.
Can you guys help me out?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, but not even by a long shot.
Android needs to be ported to the device for it to even run on that specific phone. It's taken well over 6 months to get a somewhat working version of Android on the Rhodium, and that's with many capable developers and one of the most popular smartphones sold in a while. I'm somewhat doubtful that Android will be ported to your device, so I'll guess that you'll never get and Android port, let alone a flashable version.
It has more to do with the phone only having 48MB of internal NAND.
Is there any way to upgrade the phone to at least 2.0 if I root it?
Absolutely!
All you need to do is create a 2.0 ROM for it and you will be good to go. Now I know some guys on here have been working on a 2.1 ROM for months now so they may beat you to their upgrade and Cricket may actually have theirs out before then as well.
The main issue is, in most cases each phone needs a ROM tailored specifically for it. It wasn't even as simple as taking a ROM from Sprint’s Zio and putting it on the Cricket one, it is taking a lot of tinkering to figure out how to even do that.
So...in all seriousness, the best advice is be patient...
Recently purchased the Galaxy precedent for straight talk and absolutely love it. especially with straight talks 45 dollar unlimited plan. BUT, im being driven insane only running froyo. I mean its great functional, but i find my self heavily modding it to get it to do things that gingerbread does natively and would love support for even more future applications! If anyone would help im sure I wouldnt be the only one to embrace it!
Here is a forum on Rooting the Precedent as well as some do's and don't's.

Hey I have the m828c precedent also and I have recently rooted my phone. I was wondering what mods are available for this phone? I had an iPod touch and loved experimenting with the jailbrake and now I have upgraded to the Droid phone and I want to experiment with Modding now. Can you help? Cyanogenmod doesn't have a mod for the m828c as far as I know.. please respond lol

Thanks a lot for the info. It is great that there is smart guys in the world. I purchased my precedent a while ago. Unfortunately i bricked it and fortunately i had warranty on it so got a new phone. I loved the areaRom that i was running. Made great space for many apps with the partion making thru CWM. I think that if i would have brincked it i would have stayed with it for a very long time. Thanks for the info.

Forgot... since im new (about 2 or 3 months) learing about how root works... what would be the first step into learning how to actually be able to root or create a mod or ROM for one?? any ideas and direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Regards, Pryma
I'm astonished these bricks are so old that dev communities weren't already used to meet here on xda.

Would you guys say it'd be wise getting a Xoom at this point? I love the connectivity and dont mind the weight. Its the screen im not sure about...u guys happy with it?
Now that its been around for a wile do you guys have any regrets or would you recommend it instead of other, more recent and lightweight tablets?
I'd appreciate your thoughts...

I'll jump right in and say that I love mine. I've got a great screen, and there are some that seem a bit washed out, so you might want to look at the one you're getting just to make sure you like the colors and saturation is ok. Xoom has a more natural level of saturation than some of the other tabs that are going for drama. I think this is a great time to get a Xoom because Ice Cream Sandwich is coming and I think it will solve many of the issues people have been having with stock Honeycomb. Those of us who are rooted and use custom Roms/kernels already have a taste of ICS as the developers have tweaked and added lots of functionality to the basic Honeycomb OS, but with the ICS source code to be released, we'll have lots of great custom roms, because the xoom is a developer's tablet. This tab is only getting better. Still has great hardware specs, is tough, almost un-brickable and does just about all I could ask for. There is room for improvement though, especially on the software side, so it will be an exciting time.
If you can get a good deal on a new or gently used Xoom, I advise that you go for it.
Don't have a xoom wish i had wait a week later, i do enjoy my acer 500.
I just bought one from Ebay - UK one originally from John Lewis. It has 3g and Wifi - very excited and it only cost me £280.
I currently have a rooted, overclocked and tweaked HTC Desire HD and absolutely love it. I get 2 days battery life out of it, lots of great tweaks and am so glad that I had my iPhone stolen 8 months ago! I would have ignored Android if it weren't for those theives!
I am now looking forward to rooting and tinkering about with my Xoom once it arrives.... Monday hopefully!
Any recommendations root and rom wise for a complete and utter noob?
32G, right? I hope so!
Looks like you guys are getting the 3.2 update OTA for those that are not rooted. You could accept the update and then unlock, fastboot flash CWM recovery (I prefer the solarnz R4c v3.2.0.0, myself) and then root using solarnz' Universal Xoom Root zip and then flash Tiamat Moray Rom, etc...
here is a guide that can help...it's a lot to digest but it sounds like you have experience:

Hello Ladies and Gents,
I am planning on getting a Motoactv in the next couple of days - using it for a cycling computer. Mainly I want one though as it can be rooted and I reckon it will be pretty damn cool to have an android device on your wrist
Anyways, I have read quite a lot of threads about modding the software on the devices but does anybody know if anybody (or if it is even possible) to upgrade the RAM? It currently only has 256mb, but would be amazing if this could be upgraded
Just an idea.
Cheers
