I saw a couple threads where people were unlocking their Tab+ through editing nv_data.bin, but none of those were for T869. Is the same feat possible with the T-Mobile branded Tab+?
I'm curious about this too. There seems to be alot bring done with other tab models, but not ours? unless my newbeness isn't matching up the amazing work on those models with ours cuz of my lack of experience with the tabs. I don't know, I really wanna try some of the roots and stuff, but don't wanna mess up this amazing, and expensive piece of machinery

Possible and I did when I had it. Look in the 10.1 dev forums. There is a manual way to do this using a hex editor and this works on the T-Mobile version.

My friend has the Wildfire, which is nice, but 3.2" screen sucks. I need to get him a good phone. So I'm going to buy him one, but which is a good phone to start with and easy to port. I saw the sprint nexus and it looked a little difficult. The evo was a little easier. But im open to any carrier or phone, anyone have good experiences?
I am also interested in porting my phone to metro... I have TMobile gs2 not sure its possible since I have sim tech.

It won't be possible with GSM devices. Only CDMA can be flashed to Metro. Try Simple mobile if you want GSM

Should I just get a Nexus S 4G?

OK, so I currently have a wifi aokp ics HTC flyer, iPod touch 3rd Gen jailbroken , hp touchpad dual booted with android and web os, and Samsung fascinate on miui 4 used only with wifi and has no plan of any kind, I bypassed activation. As you can see, I have a large collection of devices but do not have any cellular plans on them at all (my phone is a basic keyboard phone and I can't afford to pay 360 dollar a year data plan upgrade with Verizon, plus I don't want to worry about going over on data and being charged more). That being said, I want to try wp7 but don't know which devices I can use without a plan of any kind and just on wifi. Could someone clarify for me what my options are, if there are any, I have Googled it for a while without luck. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance! just a note though, I asked specifically about the HTC arrive and dell venue pro before because of the keyboard, but they didn't seem confident in their own forums. Again, thanks!

On Verizon you can't use an unlocked smartphone phone without adding data because it's cdma

I'm not talking about putting it on Verizon, I just said that was my carrier for my keyboard phone, no wishes to replace it. I just want to try wp7 in general and use it not as a phone but WIFI ONLY, like an iPod touch. I want no plan of any kind. This is possible on some androids, I've done it on the fascinate. So I just wanted to know my options.

Are you sure? If that's true, how do you bypass the cellular activation screen and go on with using wp7? There was a method to it with the fascinate, and you could simply hit the home button once on a custom from. Is this the case for wp7 too? Or are any unlock codes needed to do this? If there is a custom rom of wp7 for a phone, is it safe to assume it can be used without a plan of any kind?

Hey I hate to repost, but want to find out what windows phones I can buy to try wp7 without a plan. Oh, and I'm not interested in wp8 yet since phones will be expensive and don't know what wp7 is

Read the beginner's guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650) to get an idea of where development for this phone is first. Locked bootloader (with no change in sight), an ICS update which has been moved from Q3 to an indefinite point in the future - it seems like Moto is trying to let this phone quietly die. If you're okay with that then sure, go for it... personally, I would opt for something made by a different company.
Locked down bootloader!
Enough said. I will give it a miss.
Thanks.

Glad I could help... I wish I had known when I bought the phone.
Be glad to trade my Atrix 2 for the Note!!!!!
Sooooo ignore these annoying commentators, but check out what showed up in a Entertainment Weekly advertisement.

It's a blackberry running android with a data connection and a T-Mobile Sim card.
What more could you want?
I'm going to try and find one of these magazines! I'll check book stores and grocery stores and the like.
at the very least you could just put the sim in a regular phone and make free calls and get free data.
anybody else have thoughts on this?
Found this in another thread, but notice how it said they only produced 1000... when I found out I realized my chances of finding one was slim.
Also, I believe this was from 2 days ago so its already too late

Yeah i read about the 1k on the mashable page :/ Hopefully in the future we'll get to see some XDA guy who got his hands on one. i was really hoping to find one. there's almost no way though.
as a side note about the advertisement, i think a QR code to the twitter feed would have worked just as well...
I wonder what would happen if you popped the SIM into another t-mo phone. Free data? Would they find out? I wish I could get one of these...
I can't see the appeal of blackberry let alone one that runs android.

Nope. Its not a BlackBerry. The BlackBerry keyboard is curved for easier typing, not straight as in the video. Besides, since when did BlackBerries have 6 buttons and a camera in the centre with no flash? Unless, it was so long ago that I couldn't remember..

Dudes, there are phones with keyboards running Android .... qwerty keyboard =/= blackberry

can i have a piece that bacon looks awesome lol all i know is if android can be ported to the iphone, anything is possible!!! Yet good point on the fact ALOT of different phones are running android.
Another thread said it's the guts of an Abo 810. Unfortunately, there were only 1000 of them distributed in NY and LA, no love for subscribers.
Before I put my foot forth and my wallet would like to know how you guys enjoy this phone. I was reading around about this SOD is it really that bothersome and common??
Also I had previous experiences with Samsung phone do you have to backup EFS folder with this one too?
Also how brickable is this phone, Samsung phones usually are easier to brick than HTC or LG.
Thank you for the input this community looks promising.

Pretty hard to brick, great phone for the price. Cwm makes easy nandroid and allows you to select how you want it saved. Sods are almost non-existent anymore. On ICS I don't think there is any sods. But I've been running test kernels for a week now for jellybean based ROMs and I think there's light at the end of the tunnel. All in all get it if you can't afford an s3. I personally like it better than the s3 because of the size.

Thanks, yeah I don't like phones higher than a 4.3 screen size. After that it feels like a mini tablet lol. So this is perfect with power, I don't think the s3 is all that necessary in Android yet. Plus I live in NY you always have to be looking if you know what I mean haha.
Any info on the EFS question if this phone has it? So I'll know to back it up

I just checked at best buy and they currently have the s3 at 150 with 2 year agreement my question is have you guys ever tried buying through best buy? Does your plan change in any way after you guys have done this? Tmobile always tries to make it impossible for their customers that's why I ask these things. I see it as a good investment worse comes to worse down the line I can just opt out and pay 200 penalty and I would still have my s3.
