using sd card partition for internal storage? - HTC ChaCha

Hi just ordered xtc clip to s-off my wifes chacha
Is there anyway to utilise sd partition as extra "internal storage"?
I did this with my wildfire many moons ago, anyone know if its possible on chacha please?

i think you can try link2sd. using a second fat32 partition on card. i've just s-off with xtc clip, eager to try out link2sd cos the internal storage space keeps getting smalelr and smaller even when i'm not installing anything else.

I'm using a2sd scripts which can be controlled via a2sd GUI (downloadable from market). Its pretty amazing how much of the storage is being saved with these.

[Q] Problem with the phone memory

I have installed a few applications on my phone- HTC Desire (some programs and games). The problem is that no one of them cannot be transferred to the SD card and that is why I don't have phone memory. I use the program App2SD but it can't move some of the applications to the memory card, too. Please give me an advice how to solve he problem. My phone is not with root and I prefer it to stay that way.
My phone HTC Desire is with FROYO2.2
Thanks

I'm curious to what others have to say on the matter, but id say without root you might be screwed. I'm not sure if you can move the dalvik to the sdcard to free up more internal space without root or not but that would gain you a significant amount of free internal storage if you could (or move it to the seldom used cache partitiion -- but some phones don't have enough room there).
I've been using the Native Froyo App2SD like you but I'm rooted running cyanogenmod6. I can move anything to SD except for system updates.
Actually now that I think about it I'd guess dalvik can't be moved unless you're using DarkTremors App2SD+ and an EXT3 partition on your sdcard, but hopefully someone else can chime in and clear that one up.

Not at all. I have moved over from the Desire and had ext 3 on my card due to the lack of space on the desire. On my Sensation i have more app's installed (Well over 100 installed) than i had on my Desire and still have 617MB left.

How best to partition the sd-card?

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me with this little problem.
I got a new Samsung 32gb sd-card for my Sensation.
My rom is currently InsertCoin with ICS and I'm using the "4EXT Recovery Touch".
So now is the question how to partition the sd-card? One EXT or two? What is the advantage of two EXT's?
And do I need Swap?
The last time I need Swap was on my HTC Dream That's a long time ago.
Is it usefull on the Sensation?
How is your sd-card partitioned?
I would be very pleased about some answers!!!
No need for ext partitions. 32gb fat32 will do
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA App
and what about Apps2SD?
My internal storage is nearly full and i have not many apps on the phone, so i think an EXT could be very usefull for that, e.g. for games

[Q] Htc Desire Internal Storage

Hi all, i know this will be an old subject but the truth is i had a Desire 2 yrs ago before i started to play around with rooting and flashing etc.
Now i own my second Desire and it is rooted, s-offed, clockworkmodded and flashed with cm7.1.
I have recently been looking at improving my internal storage space and from what i can gather there are a few ways to do such a thing.
The problem is they seem a little bit too complicated for me not to mention a bit risky.
I am wondering if anyone has a simple method that will give me more internal space.
My sd card is partitioned (8 gig total 1gig ext3) i just don't know where to go from here.
Here are some details of my device.....
CWMod 5.0.2.0
CM7.1 Android 2.3.7
HBOOT 6.93.1002
Please Help!!
UPDATE:
I have managed to gain a little more space on my internal storage.
I found an app in the market called A2SDGUI and it allowed me to move the Dalvik Cache to the sd ext resulting in my storage jumping from 44mb to 107mb.
However, i am still looking for an answer to using the sd ext partition for all my apps since i have 1gig of space available.
Looking forward to hearing from someone!
Mark
CM 7 doens't have APP2SD integrated, this is why all the apps are installed onto the internal memory.
If you install any custom rom on XDA with APP2SD (MIUI, leeDroid for instance), you won't have any space problems.
Don't need to do anything else beside flash the rom, since you already have partitioned your SD card.

[Q]Move app to sd-ext

Sorry for this noob question... Previously owned galaxy ace. Recently bought HTC Sensation....!!
Rom: ARHD
How to create sd partition and move app to sd-ext..?? Any suggested tutorials..??
Excited .. My first post in XDA.. Hopefully not my last
Just a comment:
1GB of internal storage is usually enough even if you have a lot of apps. I, for example, have ~55 apps installed and I still have 600mb of free space.
Partitioning your card and using an ext partition as internal memory is not that good because: it will damage the card in time (continuous read-write on SD) and it's recommended you have at least a good class 6 card because the read/write speeds of your stock 8gb SD are way slower than the speeds of the internal flash memory.
Did you really run out of internal momeory on your Sensation?

Hi
Let android do it for you.
Go to settings/ apps/ all, and click on the app you want to move.
There will be an option to "move to sd card"

Thanks mayt.. Another worry after doing this my phone is having restart as soon as i m connecting it in usb storage mode..??
Wait a second, you didn't know you can move the apps to sd?
Anyway, moving an app to sd using android's app to sd is different than using a partition on your sd as internal memory.

hi
I've got a problem almost in the same category
my phone is sensation xe with beats audio runnicing ICS with sense 3.6
Problem in short : I can't move any app to my sd card !!!
I've tried the offecial built in feature of moving apps to sd card but every time I do i get the message " can't move app "
I've also tried a third party app like "Apps2sd" but the same problem exists.
any ideas what could be the probem and what solutions can be applied
yes,are you rooted?? If not their are LIMITATIONS on which apps can be moved and which can't. Unless your rooted you have to obide to these limits. Now if your rooted its a different story, you SHOULD be able to move just about ANY app you want! Of course you want to be careful what you move because it can interfere with things like moving widjets to SD will sometimes cause them not to work. But you can easily move them back when you want to use them. Hope this helped!

If you have root, run
Code:
su
pm setInstallLocation 2
And more apps will magically have the ability to move to your SD card.
