i am i need of phones that will work on the Rogers hspa 3g network in canada. i right now have a tmobile hd2 running android 2.3 and i got my wife a tmobile mytouch 3g running android 2.2. but from the information i found we will not get the 3g band because the phones 3g frequencies are wrong. can anybody help me confirm that? we right now use them but they are only on the 2g band and our reception is pretty terrible right now. if that is the case can anybody tell me if at&t phones operate 3g on the right frequency for rogers? thanks allot.
im specifically wanting to know if the Samsung Captivate S will work on rogers 3g. thanks!(but if somebody can tell me if most at&t 3g phones will work on rogers that would be greatly appreciated. thanks!)
chk Nexus S
Check out Nexus S ...might be available soon in canada for rogers
yeah the nexus s looks nice, but i still need to know if at&t and rogers operate on the same 3g band. because the tmobile phones we have do not work on the rogers 3g.....
I hear the O3D has 2 international versions, and both do not support the T-Mobile USA 1700/2100 band.
How can I tell the difference?
I already made the mistake getting the Thrill 4G without realizing it would only work on 2G for T-Mobile. Awesome phone but I would like to have 3G as well so I will be returning my Thrill and getting an O3D on eBay.
there's been a lot of topics similar to this.
When searching online or on ebay, just go read the HSDPA bands. If it has 1700 on it, you're fine. Ignore the GSM bands since that's every version of the Optimus 3D will work.

Here's a link, sorry not ebay.

Ouch. You may want to get it from a retailer since you'll have a better chance at getting a better warranty. There are domestic (USA-based) retailers who have the O3D at good prices, AND if it's the wrong one you'll have an easier time returning it. Plus, they will be able to tell you if you are getting the right one with AWS/1700 bands. That's the one I have and I get 3.5G speeds on it. You can see other threads for some speed test results, and they are good.
Good luck.
Hi everyone im sick of my stupid htc freestyle its the worst phone i have ever owned.. Now im looking to get a new one.. the plans were to get an unlocked or unlock-able smartphone from Canada and use it on att in the USA.
Now i found the Samsung Galaxy GIO Unlocked from Bell Moblity in CA on ebay new and some not unlocked for cheaper.. I Know att 3g is 950/1900 Bell moblitys site lists the GIO with 950/1900 ("HSPA/UMTS: 850/1900 MHz")
Now ebay seller list it with (HSDPA 7.2Mbps 850/1900) Located here : Link unpostable!
How ever some ebay sellers say 900/2100 for 3g and so does the Samsung site!
Now which one does the phone have! or are there 2 versions!! Please help! Thanks.!
Hello everyone,
Just a quick question... I was told by a friend that the G2x from tmobile work for Wind's AWS (1700/2100) Network. But from ebay, I see only UTMS 2100.
So I want to ask whether or more there is different versions of G2x, like ones that support wind's frequency and ones that does not. I know this is a really stupid question but I really need this confirmation before I make the purchase.
Thanks alot in advance.

The LG Optimus G2X (P999) will work on Wind, there are two versions. The only difference though is that one is TMobile branded, the other is LG branded.
The LG Optimus 2X (P990) Will NOT work with Wind and is only LG branded. Make sure NOT to get this one if you are looking to go on Wind. Even though Wind advertises their phone to be the 2X it is NOT, it is a G2X (P999).
Thank you so much! Everything is clear to me now.
I will go ahead and make the purchase.
Again Thanks!
Hello,
I was wondering if anybody who knows, could suggest if it is better to buy the HTC Amaze on Wind Mobile (and later have it unlocked if it sucks) or Telus (and still have it unlocked if it sucks..). I know they work on different networks (GSM and AWS) and have heard that AWS does not have good penetration in some buildings. On the other hand Telus is Telus so.... Any tips? I thought of buying it on Mobilicity but apparently the network is more spotty than even Wind. Any thoughts? Do you know also if the unlocked phone would work on Bell/Rogers network just in case?
Also, do you have a preferred recommended website to unlock cellphones?
Thank you !! :-D

If you're buying new, you should probably just buy from Wind, wait three months, free unlock and then decide if you like/dislike Wind. That's my plan.
