I rooted my Bionic and wentr about deleting all the verizon crap and must have inadvertently deleted part of my "quick contacts" functionality. The widget is still there but now when I click on a contact, it no longer brings up the menu for the contact type, it just force closes. Any idea how I could get it back without wiping and reinstalling everything?
Thanks in advance

Hi guys,
This problem has been driving me nuts for the last week:
I love the HTC Clock on the ChaCha with Facebook messages underneath. Much more useful than the weather (Jeez! look out the window!)
Anyhoo, for the last week or so it's been saying "no recent updates" my daughter suggested I just didn't have any decent friends but no, pressing the panel takes me to loads of updates in HTC's Facebook app.
I've tried clearing the cache on Sense, toggling WiFi on and off, rebooting the phone. Still nothing
I can't see how I can get to any settings for the clock, it must hang off of something else but what?
Both the Facebook's own homepage widget and HTC's Friendstream both seem to be working fine. Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Andy
Aha. I had this exact problem last week and made me realise how much I missed the feature. No end of rebooting, removing the widget / adding it again seemed to fix it. Then had a go a looking for other widgets to use instead, but I couldn't find anything that fit.
Anyway - the solution is to go:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Scoot down to 'Facebook for HTC Sense'
First go 'Clear Cache' if that options on.
Second go 'Clear Data'
You'll get a pop up telling all data will be deleted, click OK.
How go back to home click on the Clock widget, go back.....
And hopefully, you're back in business!!!

Yay!
After reseting the data I had to re-authorise my "f" button and "**** about" a bit with the facebook app... then the little sync arrow appeared at the top and it all started working
Thanx!
Tried all of the above with Wifes phone and It didn't work, Then again she has like hundreds of facebook contacts through the stupid games she plays on there so maybe there is just too much info to sync with such a small amount of memory on the device, Anyway I don't care as its her phone lol
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.
I deleted the Facebook application. I installed again.
"Facebook" application, and the "Facebook for HTC Sense" I deleted the application data. But it was not the solution. Still does not update facebook widget.
How can I solve this problem?
i have a text message notification stuck in the top status bar...if i swipe it away it just returns. I blocked the number on google voice, but it still returns. when i click to view the message it does not appear but just opens up a create new message window. im on slim rom 4.0 on ns4g. i tried wiping cache and that didnt work. any ideas? i may try flashing another rom but i like to restore data, so idk if taht will make it come back... any help works...thanks
Did you try force stopping and clearing data/cache for the messaging app in the app settings?

I can't change or even enter the wallpaper gallery due to a Google Search force close error.
If I press down on the homescreen and touch the wallpaper icon to change the wallpaper an error pop up immediately shows "Unfortunately Google search has stopped" with Report and OK buttons. (I have sent a report already).
Once you click either of the buttons it takes you back to the homescreen. If you try again the same thing happens.
Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

Just to clarify, the OP has a Nexus 5? Or are you running the 4.4 launcher on a different phone?

I'm on a brand new Nexus 5- non rooted, straight out of the box. I'm using the native, unmodified 4.4 launcher on a Nexus 5.
I did a factory reset in the end.
I think the problem lies with the automatic backup and restore of apps by google play.
After a factory reset I let google restore the apps to my phone automatically all in one go. This caused the same problem again. I couldn't change the wallpaper or even enter the wallpaper gallery again > pop up error message "Google search has stopped working."
I then did another factory reset and DIDN't allow google to restore all my apps automatically. I painstakingly restored each app one by one checking each time if a certain app caused the problem. (Yes this took hours) I didn't get the problem again.
So I think it was caused by google play restoring all the apps in quick succession. It seems to be too much at once. It must have corrupted something.
Now the phone works ok and I can change the wallpapers and have access to the wallpaper gallery.
Hmm, I wonder if it was trying to restore Google Search from the Play store and that caused an issue somehow. Did you try clearing it's app data before doing the factory reset? I've heard that has been a fix for people running the 4.4 launcher on other phones who have been getting FC's.

Thanks for the replies Yadao.
No, I cleared the Play store data and cache before the final factory reset. I think it did "restore" Google Voice search from my Galaxy Nexus. Perhaps it was that, that was causing a conflict.

hey guys how to fix it i have this trouble too :好:
For the past couple of weeks everytime I download an app it doesn't show up in the launcher or home screen. I've able to launch the app form the play store and by BIxby. I can also search the app launcher and it pops up, but the icon its self wont show up. Can anyone please help me. I already deleted the data in the app information on Touchwiz home and restarted my phone. Factory resetting my phone is not an option because I'm enrolled in the Samsung Insights program which grays out the option to factory reset the phone. Any help would be appreciated.
Well, without a factory reset, I'm not sure. Can you contact the Insights Team and explain it to them? Maybe they can help you or tell you how to factory reset it.
Why don't you use a 3rd-party launcher until somebody figures this out?

Which apps ? can you name those ?
I've been blessed with a phone that has no clicking and no whine...but only one odd behavior. The "Favorites" tab in the stock dialer keeps clearing itself??
I've gone through and "starred" the contacts that I wish to be my favorites and they show in dialer favorites tab for a time, but eventually at some point I'll hit the dialer and it's cleared out again. Is there something I may be doing wrong? Forgetting to click somewhere to lock them in?? Anyone else similar behavior?
It's not a really big deal and hopefully it will fix itself when Oreo 8.1 drops..but I'm still curious.
