Tried flashing old ROMS and everything is still wonky. Buttons press randomly on my keyboard no matter what I press. At first I thought flashing another ROM would fix it but it didn't. What do I need to do to get it working correctly again?
have u tried app replacement keyboards? ie smart keyboard pro
Keyboard? You mean on screen keyboard? Thus touchscreen?
Have you wiped your data/factory reset?

Yes I've tried wiping everything several times. I always do this before I install a ROM anyway.
I've tried Swype and Go Keyboard with the same results.
Even with different kernels I'm having the same problem.
Is it only on your keyboard? And does it lag when it happens?

No lag. No matter what ROM I use It seems around the E and the R keys on my keyboard are dead.
or maybe the cells/pixels there are dead.. use the developer options to test screen touch

OK I just did this and I sure enough there is about a half inch or so strip that isn't working at all. Is this a hardware issue now or is there still something that can be done on my end?

It's a hardware issue. Wipe data, return to stock, remove custom recovery, lock bootloader and send this baby to repair if you can.
If that's the case you're probably out of luck and it's a hardware fault. You could try doing a full wipe (data, caches, /system, /boot) and installing a stock rom again, but i doubt it'll do anything for you.
It's possible to change the screen (which replaces the touchscreen module), but seems to be pretty hit and miss with DIY, and who knows if that is guaranteed to fix it.

Well maybe redownload? I'm on Alpha 6 right now …¥•® and as you can see my keys work.

Try pushing each of these files to /system/usr/keylayout and see if that fixes your problem.

thanks! the keylayout was the problem. saves me from closing my phone and using the on-screen keyboard for those keys! which made me sad each time i had to do it. ha ha ha. the zip isn't the problem, i've re-download the update a few times. but, if it were the zip, it wouldn't have flashed and get an error(so many roms apparently turned out to be incomplete, when i was "rom-surfing")
edit: i actually found the source of the problem, it was the "alpha3 trackpad wake and sleep patch" is there anyway to have trackpad wake and sleep without conflicting with the two keys? [:
Recently two n5 we have in the family started doing the same thing,
touch screen is not responsive (buttons do work) and the device must be
rebooted holding the power button to get it working again.
Quite annoying since it happens couple times every day.
Searched around but didn't find any reports.
Both phones stock, rooted, gravity box and touch control installed.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I'm going to take a wild guess here, But try uninstalling touch control and see if the problem occurs again. touch control has no issues on my phone btw.

Thanks for reply!
What kernel are you using with touch control (Franco 33)?
It was working perfect for us with Franco till about rev 29, after that we got problems with graphic errors on the display once in the while, relished stock offered from touch control installation, and now this problem for change.

Just had to be send mine back for same problem, only turning it off didn't fix my problem. Not rooted
Hmm...this just started happening to be as week this week. Happened twice today. I'm running the stock ROM & kernel.
I wonder if an update to some app is causing this.

Installed FC 33, the touch screen problem is not there anymore but the graphic distortion is back.
It happens once in the while and looks like poor TV signal for second or two.

Oh OK, if I reboot it's working fine and since 2 devices have the same problem using same set up, it shouldn't be hw problem.
Well mine has gone back.. Sounds like a different problem.
After i put on my s-view cover the home button often think i have pressed it for a long time and enters the multitask list when im only pressing it one fast time. Don't happen all the time, but often enought to be a problem.
Could this be s-view cover problem?? Or something else?

Also helpfull with these issues is to type at least your phone-model and android version, at least. (The easier you can make it for someone to help you...)

Thanks for reply. I do not use anything custom on my phone. Stock and untouched. hehe.
I seem to have found a solution or something. Suddenly my phone also stopped using animations when opening apps. Think this is related somehow. I restarted the phone and all was the same. Then i went into developer mode and the transitions scale thingy was set to 0! I quickly put it back to 1x and everything was smooth again and i have no problem with the home button anymore...
But what could have changed that setting? I havent even used developer setting yet on the phone. (How can i remove the option in settings again?).
Must be a bug in thouchwiz perhaps?

I have no answers for your questions, altho i have spoken to soon.
Now for me it also opens applist or i need to really press very short on the home button. Hahaha.
But thank you very much for putting your solution, I'm gonna try it imidiatly! :good:
ps. also stock rom comes in difrent sizes and flavors. And dont forget there are 13 difrent types of Note 3's (some even have an 8-core CPU!)...
Hi,I have an Asus TF300T tablet pc. This pc has ghost touch problem. I don't have any screen guard. Some of roms I have this problems mostly. Is anyone has any idea how can i fix it?
It's not the ROM, but an hardware issue.

no,my screen is clean. I think it is a hardware issue but i don't know exactly what kind of problem it is.
Some people claim it's a loose connector.

It could be a number of things. You could try recalibrating the firmware for the touchscreen. There's a thread that talks about replacing the LCD. Anytime you replace the LCD you have to recalibrate the firmware for the new screen, so they also talk about recalibrating the firmware. Just do a lot of reading and you can find it. Sorry I'm on my phone or I'd link you.

What the hell's up with this? It's been happening ever since I got the phone, gradually getting worse. Nowadays it doesn't let me write the two letters next to one another, period.
"vicle"
"bavior"
Etc.
Have you tried using a new keyboard?
Ugh, I had the same problem.
I messed with all the settings, auto correct settings, i tried different keyboards, i tried changing languages, i tried hitting it, i tried telling at it, I tried clearing the cache on everything.
Nothing worked.
Nothing at all.
I HATE Huawei. Fix your damn bugs!
The ONLY solution, is a complete factory reset. There is nothing else you can do.

Afraid it's not limited to the keyboard. It's on a system level. Apps and whatnot with the words display them incorrectly.
This may be a common issue I reported in another post. If you have Google Gboard installed try uninstalling the update. It will revert to stock Google Keyboard. This fixed weird keyboard issues for me.

Well, you're SOL then, because a factory reset is your only option.
Trust me, I tried absolutely everything to get it to work. Nothing did.
You'll at minimum have to root it, which will involve a wipe anyway.
So save your stuff and take some time off in a weekend, or live with it.
Either way, I'm sure you'll be in the same boat as me when you say this will be the last Huawei I'll ever buy. These bugs are inexcusable, and going months whithout a fix is even worse.

Yeah. I'll do so over the weekend. It's just a pain having to backup all of my stuff.
I'll definitely be looking elsewhere for my next smartphone. As if the denial of releasing the kernel for the Honor 8 to get stable custom ROMs wasn't enough. Great phone otherwise. 'tis a shame.
Do you use the default font? I remember some theme here in XDA that has a bugged font. Didn't let me type "e" and "h" normally until I changed back to the default font
That was it. I no longer have an issue with typing "e" and "h." Thanks, you're a life saver!
Strange little bug though.
That's really strange. I'm not using the default font, but that only started happening after a few months of using it.
Also, after factory wiping, it started working fine again, but I'm using the same custom font now and it's working fine.
What the hell?
