If you have rooted, install CWM recovery, make nandroid backup..flash Endymion 3.3 ROM, Which is awesome and that is my daily use ROM with lots of feature. I think beats audio is only available in custom ROM.

Is Beats Audio really that good?
Whats the difference to winamp i.e.??

i've read that you have to use beat earphone to know the difference.

i prefer srs sound.. beats mode have to much hight frequency.

Yes this lets understand this Beats Audio a bit better first. I used to ask for it until I read a bit more into it.
Firstly, it’s mostly a marketing gimmick. It is not as if any ‘Beats’ phones have any special sound processing hardware. It is simply someone’s idea of the best EQ setting, designed specifically to match a pair of Beats Audio headphones. Dr Dre has then stuck his name on it, to make him lots of money and lend some street credibility to it. Yo.
It sort of makes sense only if you are using official Beats headphones, on official Beats equipment. What normally happens is that the official Beats phone (lets say for the sake of argument it’s the HTC Sensation XE) recognises when official Beats headphones are plugged into it. It then applies this beats EQ, which is specifically designed to get the most out of this specific set of headphones.
Custom ROMs are simply snatching this part of the ROM from the Sensation XE, plonking it on your custom ROM, and frigging the headphone input detection so that it thinks ANY headphones plugged in are official Beats headphones.
The result will be a forced EQ that unless your are using the Beats headphones bundled with the XE, will be completely mis-matched to the headphones you are using. Likely as not it will sound pony. I’ve tried it on 3 sets of headphones ranging from cheap £10 efforts, a mid-range pair of Skull Candys, and my nice new pair of a-Jays. In all three cases I was better off using a decent player app like PowerAmp, and using the EQ in that to tune the sound to match the headphones being used.

Excellent statement, wnp, and very well put together
I agree, I use beats on my pair of bog standard Phillips in-ear headphones and to be honest, I cannot tell the difference.
Also beats company are well known to be as gimmicky as Apple selling way overpriced products.

Excellent lowdown on the whole beats thingy man! Thanks a ton. BTW I use beats Monster audio headphones and they make pretty awesome earphones...especially the in ear type...
As far as the beats audio software is concerned...I completely agree with you. I have yet to find anything that sounds better than poweramp no matter what earphone you use...Beats, Bose or otherwise...!

SRS is better than Beats audio, and in all case, Egalizer do the same

finally a phillips user, i too use the cheap she9700
btw any suggestion for the ringtone or message notification sound maybe from zedge, the external speaker sounds so low that i can barely hear it.

thnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

i have used it on a rom and i can tell you that it isn't anything special if you are using stock earphones, to get the most out of beats you will need beat headphones.. i was all excited as you are until i experienced it

i tried it on CoreDroid rom...
And i must say that id did sound better on iFROGZ headphones... So better that i used stock player instead of my favourite PlayerPro.
Ofcourse, beats can't be anything else than propperly set equilizer...
I hope that guys from PlayerPro will include it in their next release.

wnp_79 said it all, this is exactly the case because it reminds me of apple when i see this, and htc bought beats so we're coming closer to the apple territory.
and thats why im searching for an srs like effect for my cm7 since it was so good when i had the stock sense.. any ideas?

Using beats on my desire S
I can still say theres quality in the music..

Can say it makes a huge difference using pro Sennheiser and Technics headphones. (not in ear ones)

The Rom has beats in it
Launch the default music app & play any song you should get a option in the notification bar allowing you to enable or disable beats
If this does not happen try pressing the menu soft button in the player when the song is playing then choose sound enhancers & choose beats
There is now a flahable zip available for any sense Rom to have beats

Similar thread to one in the General section. Here's my post from that one;
Beats Audio is basically Dr. Dre's idea of what EQ settings you should have when some Beats Audio high performance equipment is plugged in. A stock phone with Beats Audio (Sensation XE) will detect the official Beats headphones (somehow) and Beats Audio will apply a certain EQ.
It's not like beats audio means it has any special audio processing hardware. It is simply an EQ tailored to get the "best" sound out of a specific set of headphones (and make Dr. Dre more ‘paper’). If you are not planning on using Beats headphones, then it is kinda redundant. I'm simply curious to see if this EQ is better than my custom one using PowerAmp. (PowerAmp is also currently running a 2.0 Beta from their website. Check it out.)
I have yet to test it myself, but I would imagine that unless you are planning on splashing out £100+ on Beats headphones, you are best of sticking with using PowerAmp and it's awesome equaliser to tune the sound to best suit the headphones you already have. Much Cheaper! Also the hack that needs to be applied, so that beats activates with any headphones can't possibly apply a different EQ for each set of headphones. It'll be one fixed bass/treble tweak designed to compliment the Beats headphones bundled with the Sensation XE. That's the best reason to get the XE. Those headphones would normally cost over £100 and are meant to be very good.
Since we are on the topic, we all know the headphones supplied with the Desire S are shocking. I can highly recommend the a-Jays One. IMO you'll not get a better sound for £20! Plus the cable is truly tangle-free! I'd have been very happy with these had they cost me £60.
(Also wins the prize for the most over-packaged product I've ever bought. The case is good for keeping anything you want to survive the nuclear apocolypse.)

[info] Beats Audio ... Fake optimisation..

Hi all !
I just post here to talk about ( again ? ) Beats audio.
After Many tests on many roms ( Beats / No Beats ) the results are here :
Take a 2.3.4 Without Beats audio Audio quality is really fine !
even in Bleutooth A2DP, Stereo Headsets or in speaker-mode.
Now with a 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 With Beats audio :
Audio is crappy With HTC Player in speaker-mode and A2DP.
When you plug headsets it enable beats then you have a nice quality but very very close to stock 2.3.4 without Beats.....
BTW you can listen to Music on deezer or spotify your have a nice quality without any probleme in A2DP or speakermode or Stereo-headsets.
What do you think about it ?
Best regards all !
I already said this. When u have beats kn the phone, htc makes the regular sound sojnd ****ty, and enable beats, and it raises it to a little better than nornal

You can't enable Beats in A2DP....
Is there a way to have both beats and the original equalizer??

It's a gimmick. CM7's DSP Manager is better, imo.
I prefer using Poweramp and its equalizer presets. Sounds great!

I personally quite like the difference Beats makes with the stock earbuds, maybe that's just me
It seems to pull the sound "forwards", if that makes sense, and gives it a slightly richer sound. Yeah, CM7's equalizer probably does just as well, but I'm not on CM7 yet.
I personally find that beats is much better for my ears than CM7 + DSP on my non stock reference bud phones.
CM7 is alpha state and not quite ready for prime time... there are audio artifacts still in there so the sound quality isn't quite clean as yet... but it will get there.
ver8 is much better than ver7
Overall however, The CURRENT audio quality for CM7 is horrible and i listen to a lot of classical music... for example: violin plucking and bowing sound terrible on CM7 but sound quite decent on Beats... that is quite a shame as Beats isn't much more than an EQ tuning for the Beats headset... and i am not using Beats headsets im using expensive Reference buds.
Right now I am looking for a better EQ app on market to replace beats as it does have its short comings as well.
Poweramp sounds better than beats but its ui is garbage to me
Sent by my feau gee
Here's my opinion on this whole beats fiasco.
All beats focus on is BASS. The more the better. It smallens the sound stage, which is why some feel like it's "closer"
DSP manager is not tuned for you. You tune it yourself, as music is subjective to each person. I might like bass, but you might not. So tune it yourself.
Think of DSP as cookie dough and Beats as ready baked cookies. Some like ready baked cookies, but some want to fine tune it themselves, adding chocolate or ****.
All in all, I HATE beats. It's nothing but a marketing scheme to me.
Yes, at one hand it's maketing. And it's working. There are options with better sound. But, if you like bass based music, Dr Dre's sound is quiet good. The Beats headphones are strong, at least I like the cable. It's a better headphone with a smaller range of happy users.
I like bass music a lot!

Stock sensation: my dhd with srs sounded WAY better
Sensation xe: best audio quality on any phone I've tried, it makes so much difference.
P.s I listen to music about 2/3 hours a day and I use beats studios so I can deffo tell the difference.
Oh and don't criticize beats on 3.5 Rom because we haven't got a proper port, the mods we got sound nothing like native beats on xe.

Its impossible. Music depends on the person listening to it. Why so you think there are so many headphone manufacturers out there? What works for you might not work for him. You can't benchmark a headphone.

Beats audio in ARHD rom?

first Thread here, please be kind.
first of all, awesome website, awesome developers, and awesome ARHD roms.
i flashed my sensation with ARHD sensation XE rom and it has been nothing but awsome so far. however, as a audiophile myself, i cannot help but noticed something changed in the audio department.
with the default HTC audio player, the music became almost unlistenable without Beats enabled. the overwhelming amount of bass pretty much ruins everything. I don't recall this was the case before flashing the ARHD rom. and when i use 3rd party player (like Winamp) with no EQ change, the music is on par with using HTC audio player with Beats turned on.
so here is my theory:
1. HTC is really play dirty here by purposely making the musics sounds so bad that user has to enable the Beats audio on models that support Beats audio.
2. Sensation is not compatible with Senstion XE rom?
is this an isolated case? or are you guys all experiencing it?
Thanks
Never had that, flash again maybe?

i think i flashed a number of times and i have noticed this every time.
could you do test on your phone?
listen to a music file with HTC music player with beats off, and beast on.
and listen to the same file with a 3rd party player with flat eq setting.
since 3rd party player cannot trigger beats audio, it should sound just like HTC player with Beats disabled.
my problem is it sounded like HTC player with beats enabled, while the HTC player with beats disabled sounds like carp (granted my head phone cost as much as sensation itself so i might hear a bit more, but the difference should be very significant to spot with just regular earphones)
For ICS, HTC have modified the Beats algorithm (imho)
So now, beats enabled is as the player should be,
Beats disabled, has HTC crippling the sound to make Beats sound better than it is
I think.....
A very nice posting from my ARHD XE
Sorry but.... do you guys use piracy OLD version of power amp? New version of it has Beats Audio in EQ. Better just buy Power Amp and get an update with Beats Audio in EQ And on topic, I don`t have this issue. Maybe it`s related on headphones, as I`m using headphones from SE Xperia Arc S, but with some others headphones sound is really bad.
I don't use Beats anymore as it sucks out my battery.
Google Music has pretty nice sound, don't need more than that.
I've found that using dsp manager as well as beats audio gives the best sound.

Beats, EQ, DSPManager - What is best?

Hello to all, I was just wonder what sound enhancer people are using these days? I come from an Android device with DSPManager on it which would give extremely rich bass. Beats audio, although enhances my sound somewhat, is no comparison. I tried installing other EQ apps but they have no effect on my device. I think maybe the Beats engine is conflicting with other EQ plugins.
If anyone could share what they use or how they got it to work I would much appreciate it I'm thinking about rooting my device and uninstalling Beats with Titanium just to test it out. Thanks guys!
I'm pretty sure I saw another thread about this. As you may already know, Beats is just a bass heavy EQ setting.
I don't know why certain DSP programs don't seem to have any effect on this phone. The only consensus I've seen if that apps like PowerAmp work the best for actually tweaking the EQ.
IDK why lots of people diss on Beats Audio on their phone. I've tried most of these eq apps and Beats gives me the best sounding music through my ear buds than any other. JMHO

Seriously nobody here uses poweramp? Best music player + equalizer out there. I found it better than dsp and very easy to understand what you are doing. You can also combine it with the beats audio and make an amazing eq for your liking.

I've been using Poweramp for a couple years and I love it. The options and the equalizer are outstanding. I was just comparing it with Beats and there is no comparison in my opinion. I am not sure what Beats does. A t-mobile sales guy told me it decompresses the sound file. Whatever it is I am not impressed and it seems like marketing hype to me. I would prefer to remove it. I just signed with t-mobile and I am checking out the service and the phone so I am not ready to root or flash. I have not even seen a way to disable beats.
It's easy to disable. Plug in a headset, go to Sound and there you have an option for Beats. On German One S it's name is: Klangverbesserung. I don't know the english name.

Thanks. I should have thought to plug a headset in and then look for settings. Eviently disabling it in the notification bar did the same thing although at the time the notification option was persistent. It is gone now.
BEATS
beats is the most powerful tool to optimize the music.. works with my gaming Headset and Bose in Ear.. Top Sound..
I just traded a watch for some beats headphones (studios) and realized the integrated beats thingy has no affect one beats headphones. If you shut it off the headphones automatically adjust back to "beats" performance. Idk what this concludes but thought I would share.

From my experience, Beats boosts both treble and bass, thus making it sound richer. It is disabled by going to Settings>Sound>Sound Enhancer. Just click 'no enhancements'. Headphone must be plugged in to do so. I leave it enabled in combination with PowerAmp for pretty good quality. Still not as good without DSPManager :'(
Started to use Poweramp before DSP was invented The EQ is doing a good job and for the most time i like the sound of it. In the first days of DSP I uninstalled it because it drained to much battery.
Beats is also nice, but i don't like that it turns on for every sound the phone does.
So i am finaly back to deinstalled DSP & Beats and using Poweramp only =)

Beats audio gone? URGENT

Okay I flashed the cyanogenmod rom... and im not sure if i still have my beats audio because everytime it used to show a beats audio logo on the top and even in the notification bar and it had a circle with a green check next to it giving u the option to turn off and on beats audio...now not so much.. can someone tell me if i do or not and can u help me get it back if not?
Beats audio was more of a software than a hardware feature on the One X. The cm10 people and probably most of the us who use it would prefer and point you towards the DSPManager app that is installed. That gives you a fuller control over the equalizer and is typically better than the beats audio software.
Also try jet audio player.. It's awesome and has an equalizer, a bunch of presets, and you can really tweak the sounds.. I look in the themes and apps to find a copy

You should be glad.
Beats audio is just a gimmick. An equalizer, a software feature, not hardware.
The audio engine that comes with CM10 is much better , and acid audio,,etc.

Agreed. Beats isn't even necessary if you use an amplifier like Poweramp. What Beats adds is hardly anything but a bit of low bass resonance. If its off and you have an equalizer you can easily make up the sound difference with said equalizer.
I happen to enjoy Poweramp. It turns my car audio setup Into an even more powerful stereo due to preamp etc.
