Honestly this never happened on Froyo, it started after upgrading to GB(been on the leaks since EP3). Go Launcher just keeeeeeeeeps restarting EVERY time i open ANY app. Go SMS, PowerAMP, calculator, whatever... i press home and all my home pages need to reload(app drawer too). This wouldnt be a huge problem but when the launcher crashes it makes whatever app im using slow to a CRAWL. Poweramp starts making my music skip, if im using my keyboard(Swiftkey x) then that becomes pretty much unusable. SO SLOW.
Anyone know why this is happening?
just for reference im running tweakstock1.0 + imnuts' infinity kernel + ICS fugu tweaks. no supercharger or loopy smoothness right now.

no problems here, and I almost exclusively use Go Launcher... I'm tempted to say its the fugu stuff but thats only because of my skepticism of such "tweaks"
are you using anything different? im thinking its a kernel problem(imnuts makes great kernels dont get me wrng, i mean i was using his for months before imoseyon came along). I also have my suspicions that its the fact that im not using V6 supercharger... IDK. it feels like when the phone runs out of RAM the launcher just closes, which it shouldnt since ive got that persistent memory thing checked in the preferences.
those are just my guesses since weve clearly eliminated the GB incompatibility.

just 12/11 Infinity with TSM and Imoseyons 4.0.0 kernel, no extra anything... the only issue I've noticed is like one hotboot a week but I think thats my fault since it happens when I overload the phone with too many things at once

its so weird too because rebooting fixes the problem for a while, hours even, but im lazy and dont like rebooting my phone all the time because media scanning takes a year. ill try switching kernels tomorrow. if that doesnt work then i guess ill try v6 and loopy smoothness. if that doesnt fix it then its back to the drawing board.
BTW, are you using voodoo screen tuning by chance? i always kinda had a feeling that it was causing the problems.
Android is shutting GoLauncher down to free up memory. There is a setting in GoLauncher to mark it as 'system persistent', but i'm not sure that always works.
On DroidForums I found this, which has worked well for me:
In Terminal Emulator type: su
Then type: echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop
Now reboot into recovery and clear your cache only and then boot up
I always had launcher redraws on FroYo and rarely on GB. But to fix this you can use v6 supercharger and apply hard to kill launcher.

Either supercharge or do loopy smoothness. For the record, I have no issues with ADW.

Same here, i switched to GO after having insane restart issues with ADW and go was working perfect. I applied V6 and it seems to have stopped the issue and im finally able to have a functional phone but it might have just been due to the fact that i rebooted the phone after applying the supercharger, because it was lagging like crazy before i rebooted.
We'll see soon enough...
I have found that on infinity just having the tw4 apk causes me issues. Not only replacing the launcher with adw ex but I also deleted the touchwiz launcher from /system/app.
Seems odd but I hated the newest infinity until I did that and now its faster and smoother than any other rom I ran yet. Dont know much about the tweak rom but could be worth a shot if it's there.

Another vote for freezing/removing TW4 launcher. My phone has run better since I froze the TW launcher.

Two things: one, putting lots of apps on SD has been known to cause redraws. If you move apps back to the phone, particularly ones that you have home screen shortcuts for, that generally helps a lot. Keep in mind that some apps install to SD by default, and even if you didn't move them there yourself you can move them back.
Second: the "persistent" checkbox doesn't reliably work in Gingerbread due to Android task manager changes. The Charge's unfortunately paltry amount of RAM is the biggest issue and there's not a whole lot you can do about that. You can only try to reduce the number of apps installed that run in the background without reason and force the task manager to start closing stuff. Get an app like Watchdog from the Market, and check to see what's running right after a reboot. You'll probably be surprised at some of the apps that do without any good reason.

Okay so here's my issue my thunderbolt has been lagging really bad the past few days and I noticed that the system is loaded with a ton of HTC system apps that are using a lot of the memory...on my infuse I just got has the same amount of Apps and looks the exact same with fewer system apps and runs great like my thunderbolt used to...so I am curious if I go with a senseless rom with no sense at all will it increase my thunderbolts speed or will it just hide the HTC system stuff but still use it?

some quick questions;
are you running a gingerbread rom on your tbolt,
what kernel are you using,
which radio
any of these things can play a big part in the performance of your phone, you dont really have to get rid of sense to become fast again, you just have to find the right combo of (listed above).
I am running liquid thundersense with imoesyon over clocked kernel clocked at 1.4ghz running froyo I am unsure about my radio its been a while sense I flashed it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
If sense is done right, there is no lag. The BS that is in the stock ROM... A whole other story.
If you are stock and rooted you can download root explorer...
Make a backup before doing anything!!!!
Under system/app you can remove the things YOU KNOW are not needed. Like, golf, VZ Nav, etc. Delete the things you want gone. I always remove friendstream, HTC Twitter and both their widgets. Market apps are way better and they both are system and battery vampires.
After you clean house... Reboot into clockwork and clear the cache and dalvik to get rid of the bones left behind.

i agree with droidtheory about if sense is working correctly it will be with out lag. you may want to consider trying a new rom. my phone runs best on anything the bamf team makes( not saying other roms are bad or anything).
i've gotta ask, why are you still running froyo? i have been on gingerbread since the day bamf released their GB rom, i am currently running bamf3.0 RC3, sense 3.0 is amazingly smooth and awesome.
but if you don't want to change the rom your running, you can(all in recovery) wipe data/cache/dalvik/bat-stats three times each and flash thundersense again. and if you restore with TiBu, or what ever you use, do not restore system data/apps. only restore downloaded apps.
-hope that helps ya
Instead of deleting files/directories, I would suggest grabbing Bloat Freezer from the market. Bloat Freezer hides nonessential apps from the operating system, which serves the same function as deletion. If you freeze something you shouldn't (the phone starts acting weird, new error messages, etc), just unfreeze apps until you get normal function back. You should also check out Autostarts, which prevents apps from launching in the background and sucking battery & network bandwidth.
CM7, the ultimate senseless ROM.
Runs smooth, and is great if you don't mind a couple radio bugs.
do this phone have a small lag or has anyone notice a lag right when they got their phone from the store? i come from a Samsung epic and the epic didn't have a lag even with all the bloatware that was install to it, i haven't done anything to mine i haven't even rooted, how can i troubleshoot my stock charge ?
Be more specific, we don't know what "lag" you're referring too. Home page being choppy? Download speeds? Browser being choppy?
when i had got mine and had it stock it was kind off laggy. TW was laggy as well as the notification bar. I rooted and flashed eclipse 1.3.1 and peanut butta jelly time and now have noooo lag what so ever. i highly suggest you try eclipse 1.3.1
i have used every froyo rom and eclipse 1.3.1 is def. the best. also enable voodoo lagfix if u decide to root and flash roms and kernels
Mine had lag right out the box. Not swiping between home screens or anything but when opening Apps like messenging and stuff. It wasn't terrible but I noticed. That has since gone since flashing gummycharged.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA Premium App
I had lag too when I was in stock. I still get lag every now and again with gummycharged but its not as bad. I'm thinking about trying eclipse

noob
Finished moving from Stock, to than REFUSED 1.7 to Stock again, and than to UNFSUED V2.
The stock had serious lag (home screen especially - i hate it when you see that choppiness when moving between home screens), the refused was good and the infuse is also laggy.
Perhaps it's other differences (like wallpaper?) that makes it slower? Or is this a known issue with the Infused?
Thanks!!!!
Its probably because you have apps running in the background. Download advanced task killer and set it to auto kill. Then itll auto kill all the background apps
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
Funny, my Infuse seems to be really zippy and solid on stock. I had a couple issues initially with the market and downloading apps, but they were resolved with a cache wipe and reboot.
I would not recommend using advanced task killer. Phones qith froyo and up really have no need for regular use of a task killer.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
Infused v2 has a few known issues with touchscreen responsiveness after lock. Also the CPU governor needs a little tuning... It's a matter of gtg kanging a commit and rebuilding kernel, netarchy gave us a fix.
I did the 5 steps to make phone snappier and I noticed that my phone is now faster I used to always gey redraws rather frequently, but I still get redraws, enough to still bother me. Advice on how to be faster? I am on stock FP1 rooted using twl.launcher as my main launcher and would like to keep this setup. I am willing to switch roms or anything, all I want is zero redraws, really hate it

edit the line in the build.prop to lock in the home screen (set it =1).
been there done that...no avail.. thought it was just gingerbread ..then fp1 came i got excited..worked better for a while, then back to the same this..came across that 5 steps, did that, did the build.prop .. still feels laggy sometimes..has gotten better i might add, but enough to make me feel like i should switch phones
Jellybean is the only thing that going to get you to a point where you can reasonably get "no lag." Even the newer dual-core phones on ICS get laggy from time to time, and it's worse on this phone. The best you're going to do on this phone is mitigate it.

right.
but I really do not have an lag or redraw issues. part of the trouble shooting is to reduce the number of apps on your phone and on the screen. I place all of my apps in folders and thus have no redraw issues since. some launchers like GO and HOLO help too.
Ehm...I never get redraws unless I restart the launcher manually. Use V6 Supercharger.

I've never really gotten v6 to work on fp1 but I have no redraws at all but if you have followed my 5 steps you should have no problems. If you use go launcher or holo there is a setting for "keep in memory" that works really well with the build.prop edit

V6 "works" on FP1 in that it applies successfully, but I've never run V6 on this phone that it didn't run like complete crap after a few days. I've played with recent versions of the V6 script and found them to be even worse for me than the older versions. I know kvswim says he has no issues, but it kills my performance worse than anything else I've ever done.
Yeah, it's really odd that it works perfectly fine for some and just makes things worse for others.

I can imagine it being down to the use case. The script changes OOM groupings of apps which causes them to be killed in a different order than default. Regardless of how Zep advertises it, that's probably not a one size fits all proposition. I know I strongly disagree with the logic of some of the ICS regroupings that he seems quite proud of.

I've tried several ics roms but the lag has been killing me. I can live without video recording, data drops, etc. but the lag is driving me nuts. Sometimes when returning to homescreen, launching apps such as chrome, opening multitasking menu, system settings and many other tasks, the system will hang for as long as 10 seconds, sometimes longer. I have tried the dalvik fix several times but it really doesn't seem to help. Am I doing something totally wrong or is ics doomed to this type of behavior? Right now I'm using hfs 1.9

thats the norm for all ICS roms for G2X right now. Any that feels fast will slow down quite a bit after a day or two. Reboot may help but will get annoying. Even the fastest combination will still be slower than GB. And less stable. And kills less screen on battery life.
If you REALLY must have ICS, I recommend Trinity ELP kernel for ICS. Dont know what black magic morfic put in his kernel but it's consistently more stable and faster than the rest. Even the 3.0.y kernels

Ditto,
i went over to paranoid android and its smooth and really no massive lag, but you will catch a little here and there.
but i totally understand, I also can't live without my video recording and ive always thought about going back to gingerbread. But for some reason im still on ics.:silly:
btw you said chrome; when i use chrome it tends to just crash and barely able to even switch tabs.
Flako has a thread in the dev section for a lag fix that helps a lot.
Not to mention the Facebook lag..
