Hey, I'm pretty new to this site and to Android in general. So bear with me =/
To sum up my 2 problems:
The phone does a hard reset every time you reboot from recovery (or try backing up via ccw)
The 2 mods i have been able to find for the e720 have errors when I try to install
Some background info:
I was wondering if anyone has a solution for my woes. My dad's lg chic recently came off the warranty so I decided to root the phone via z4root. Everything was successful and super user was installed.
However, the problem came when i tried to backup my stock rom or access the recovery on the lg. Every time I reboot the phone, it does a hard reset. This also happens when I try to backup the current rom via ccw.
When I access with Clockworkmod 5.0.2.7 via adb using this site: http://www.androidworld.it/forum/lg-optimus-chic-88/clockworkmod-5-0-2-7-per-lg-optimus-chic-32171/
it works, however the two mods i have managed to find for the e720b have the following errors:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046135
This one says the package used is outdated and this version of CCW does not support it anymore
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development-62/%28rom%29-cyanogenmod-7-1-gingerbread-2-3-7-for-e720/
This one has an error and the operation ends.
Of course, when I reboot the phone, something happens that causes it to have a hard reset (so I basically have to insert my gmail account and reinstall and reapply z4root...superuser is still in the programs however)
After at least 2 attempts per mod, I've given up. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Another summary:
Can anyone figure out why the Lg E720 does a hard reset when I enter recover and just reboot the phone?
Is there another mod for the e720 I am unaware about?
Thanks!
quick bump
can anyone help me? Thanks!
another bump so (hopefully) someone can direct me in fixing this problem
just another quick qump
just another bump
bump, anyone help? please?
Oh I completely forgot about this, bump?

Hi. I have a huge problem and I am so stressed because some of the people in these forums are awfully mean and I am already having a bad enough time, Plus I have been searching for 3 days and found no working solution. I love my phone and I fear I may just have to give up all hope, but I am just not quite ready to let go....
Seriously tho, I rooted my Optimus S and I had a hell of a time getting a recovery to work finally thunderc did the trick. then I added thundeRom, and I had it about to weeks when I came across this cool ROM called cyanogen nightly so I just had to have it. Well then my phone wouldn't flash into recovery. I tried installing many recoveries none would work.
After so many failed attempts I kept getting permission denied. I remembered that before I rooted I had the same problem and after I did a factory reset and wiped my phone clean it worked, So I did that again and I pretty sure it bricked, only I have not found any other post where the symptoms were just like mine. My phone will only blink LG nothing else.
I did back up with titanium before this and I had a nandroid backup also. Is there any hope? Does anyone know what may have happened with my recovery before this happened? It was working fine. I have not been this long without a phone in at least 10 years. Please help I would greatly appreciate it. thanks.
yes there is, if you could go into clockwork recovery (reflash it without fully turning on the phone, there probably is a way, google it )
then you could reinstall your previous backup and it would work as new.

I know this question has been asked by many people in many ways, but I am lost and would appreciate your help.
To make a long story short, I have a TF101 which keeps going into CWMD no matter what I do. I cannot cold boot it through to the OS. I have tried several solutions to get the device working again including:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Attempting to flash the stock ROM straight from the ASUS website
http://www.blogotechblog.com/2012/02/how-to-install-rooted-stock-ics-rom-on-eee-pad-transformer
NOTHING is working right! I have a complete backup of apps and data using Titanium and I just want a clean, rooted machine to start from. What is the most sure fire way to do this?
Undying gratitude in advance!
John
How about some basic information?
What did you last do before this started happening?
What version of CWM do you have?
I tried to do the OTA update after temporarily rooting the device with OTA Rootkeeper
I am using v 5.5.0.4
Does cwm even see anything that you can flash if you choose "choose zip from sdcard"? If it does, this might help, but you will probably have to push it with adb... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303
Search around for hints on using adb, there are guides and freaky ways to install drivers to get it to work.
I managed to use a rooted rom to get it to boot up (one that you did at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303). And now have the following issues:
The ROM does not have either Market or Google Play. so I can't install things like ROM manager and Titanium
The system is acting "modally" - essentially requiring that I completely exit an application before i enter another one. So in order to use another app, I have to completely back out of the one I'm in.
Even though the ROM is running the latest update, the system is prompting me to load the OTA update anyway.

Can't seem to flash anything now. Least not from the computer or the OS. I'm stuck with CWMOD 3.2.0.1 roach2010-tf101-r1. It won't cold boot. ADB recognizes the unit in recovery mode but I have to assume that the entire OS is buggered. I can't even do a device wipe without an error. I think I have to get it back to "factory" via ADB, but I haven't found a clear and reliable set of instructions.
Melting....melting!!!
I tried asking this in the Droid 2 forum but no one knew how to help.
So i'm gonna try posting this here, sorry if this is against the rules.
I have a droid milestone 2 that is no longer getting service from anywhere. No calls, no text, data and (curiously) no ability to connect to wifi. Went to bed one night, woke up and almost called off work!!! The phone is not rooted and I still have full access to the phone so I backed up everything that is on it and factory wiped it with no luck. Called Verizon, they reset it to defaults a second time with no luck and said that it was a defect with the software.
My question is that if it’s a defect with the software, would upgrading the firmware to ICS help?
If the answer is yes, can I even do it without data on the phone?
I looked up how-to’s on how to flash the firm ware and found a wiki page that helped
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/(deletethis)Motorola_Droid_2:_Full_Update_Guide
but this only worked when flashing to Cyanogenmod 7, the software downloadable from the page did not work with 9.
I know the apps I need is clockworkmod Recovery but I cannot install it from the app store because the phone isn’t getting any type of connection, and the version given from the wiki page can’t do Cyranogenmod 9. So I need an updated .apk file of clockworkmod recovery mod to upgrade the phone to ICS
Any help or guidance would e very very appreciated.
First off you never want to flash using Rom manager so u need to manually put clockwork on with a PC ... the version of clockwork will not matter you can still flash ics ..... flashing may help and it may not it depends on what the problem is ... also not to be a d*** but is the phone in airplane mode?
YouTube will show you how to do all this

dude you cant flash roms or sth like unless you have a rooted phone. guess your phone is already rooted.
you did already backup why dont you make a full wipe and flash a proper rom. you can revert your phone back later if you want
I just purchased a p509 as a backup phone and figured I could easily root it and flash a better ROM on it. I am not new to the whole flashing process. I've had no problems doing all this on three other phones (LG G2x, Galaxy Centura, and a Galaxy S 4G).
I rooted it using Gingerbreak. Seemed to go ok. My first problem was having error messages using Astro File Manager. I then got a little carried away with Titanium Backup and deleted the LG Home launcher and probably something else I shouldn't have. I of course then had no home screen. I used Gmail to send the APK to myself and install it. I then had my home screen, but I still got error messages every time I hit the home button.
I then installed ROM manager to try and get a recovery on the phone and wipe out all my issues with a new ROM. It gets to 100% installing CWM and then I get a Superuser error message. If I try and fix permissions I get the same thing.
Any advice? The only factory restore help i can find is the basic hard reset stuff.
Every time something needs Superuser, SU gives me a FC. I can't even install Busybox. Is there no way to return this phone to the way it came from the factory?
Ok so I seem to have SU working now. But Busybox still won't install...
Well even though no one cares to help (not surprised on XDA) I want to add some info. I have tried flashing a recovery two different ways through terminal emulator with no luck. My current status is using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003080
I'm trying to type in "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" and getting a not enough memory message. This is becoming the most pain in the ass thing i have ever tried to do. I would love to just have it back to the way I received it with all the stock apps and games and not having to email myself the LG Home launcher every time I reset it. Any insight would be appreciated.
the problem is that rom manager is not compatible anymore with O1(if you managed to install recovery do not boot into it from rommanager, use combo keys), so read this post to install recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723 (to go in fastboot try to use quickboot from playstore), search forum for flashable recovery thread for O1,
or, to make it stock just flash an oldbb GB rom 2.2 and use LG support tool from LG site and update to latest version available, worked for me
Thank you very much. I actually just solved the problem with this guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318750 and running GingerDX.
Good to know how to get it back to stock though. I swear I searched and got nothing but "Hard reset" results.

so i was trying to do a custom boot image. Im a noob and this is what i did. I went into the app called rom installer. I already did a backup of old one and did a backup during this as well.
I found the ZIP and did the whole reboot thing, didnt work, phone was reset. I backed up and now it keeps saying process system not working and gapps not working and everything has stopped. I am unable to use the phone or get to my other backup to try just incase.
Does anybody know how to fix this? or how to get my phone up and running again?
It is better not to try third party applications to boot custom images.
You do a decent research in xda forums and google how to install custom ROMs using Odin.
you may get an idea after a small research, as the process is risky make sure you know what you are doing.
The issue what you facing is not serious, it can be solved by flashing the original Samsung firmware for your device.
