[q] help note 3 not working - General Questions and Answers

so i was trying to do a custom boot image. Im a noob and this is what i did. I went into the app called rom installer. I already did a backup of old one and did a backup during this as well.
I found the ZIP and did the whole reboot thing, didnt work, phone was reset. I backed up and now it keeps saying process system not working and gapps not working and everything has stopped. I am unable to use the phone or get to my other backup to try just incase.
Does anybody know how to fix this? or how to get my phone up and running again?

It is better not to try third party applications to boot custom images.
You do a decent research in xda forums and google how to install custom ROMs using Odin.
you may get an idea after a small research, as the process is risky make sure you know what you are doing.
The issue what you facing is not serious, it can be solved by flashing the original Samsung firmware for your device.

[Q] Booting into recovery after uninstalling Qik

Hi. This is a minor issue that may or may not warrant a new thread, but I wasn't able to find a similar post anywhere.
I'm rooted and S-off'ed with Revolutionary method. I am in the process of cleaning up all the bloatware on my phone. I am using TiBu, backing up every app before uninstalling, then performing NAND backup after verifying stability. At first after uninstalling several apps deemed 'safe', I encountered a problem where my phone would show two mt4gs splash screens then boot into clockworkmod recovery. I since narrowed it down to the Qik video chat app.
Has anyone else had a problem with uninstalling this specific app? Is it tied into the ROM that much where removing it would prevent me from booting up normally?
I don't recall removing qik ever cause any issue for me. If you are worried that removing certain apps might cause trouble, you can first try freeze them using apps like AntTek app manager before you remove them completely.
Or you can try the custom MT4GS ROMs on the developer forum. Those ROMs already removed most of the bloatware.
Would the fact that I reinstalled the stock rom from the repack on this forum?
*Would that cause a problem in booting?
Removing qik would not cause that issue. Lmfao.

Good method on the backups after each change, you now have an interactive log of your progress ~ everyone should experiment so carefully.
qik has never given me an issue that I can recall. I usually remove it with the other T-Mobile apps I don't want, like ecid.apk ( name ID ) for instance.
I freshly reboot the phone, uninstall all the T-Mo apps and all known supporting files/directories, reboot to recovery and clear dalvik cache and phone cache, then reboot the phone and let it rebuild cache.
After it boots and runs for about 5 mins, I reboot it again and let it run for about 2 minutes before doing anything else with it.
I don't think qik itself has anything to do with your issue at hand, it sounds more like it could be a bad install - maybe a corrupt download of the ROM. I don't think anyone else has reported this specific problem with the stock ROM for download here, but have you read through the threads for it?
I haven't used that ROM yet, so I can't speak for it from personal experience.
It could also be a bad Clockworkmod install. Again, maybe a corrupted download or...?
What version of CWM are you using? If you aren't using CWM 4.0.0.9, then i'd recommend upgrading to that and seeing if it solves your issue.
If you're up to it, though, re-download the ROM your using and install it fresh, before you upgrade CWM. If it was a bad download or install the first time, then that will fix your issue.
I still recommend upgrading to CWM 4.0.0.9 anyway if you haven't, even if a fresh ROM install solves your problem.
Thanks for the advice, Blue. I since then have just frozen the app and finished de-bloating the device. Right now I'm trying Undead's Senseless Rom, but if I go back to stock, I'll keep this in mind.

[Q] Help, stuck in bootloop with CM 10 ROM

So I was able to successfully root my AT&T HTC One X and decided I wanted to install the CM 10 ROM (1st ROM install). I did all the data backups with Titanium, downloaded the latest zip files from cyanogenMod (both the 12/13 and 12/14 nightly versions), transferred them to my phone, booted into recovery (TWRP), did a back-up, did a system wipe, flashed the ROM and then did a reboot. However, when it boots it gets stuck in the boot-up screen (bootloop) and doesn't do anything. I have read on this and it keeps saying to wipe system data again and flash the ROM again and it keeps doing this. I want to install this ROM, but I need some help. Any suggestions on what I did wrong?
Note: I accidentally posted this in the Android Q&A section, so I apologize for the double post. I just think this is probably the best place to get my answer.
Did you flash the boot.img?
I did, but incorrectly the first time. I flashed it the right way and everything is working good. Then only problem I have now is when restoring from Titanium Backup it gives me an error from a process called com.android.phone (I think that is what it said). So I wiped it again and rebooted and everything is fine. I can reinstall all the apps, but what could cause that? Could it be some of the data backed up doesn't cooperate with this ROM? Either way I love the CM10 ROM.

if they are backups from sense, that *MAY* cause problems, but don't quote me on that. I don't use sense, can't say for sure
OK, maybe that is why. Not a big deal since I haven't had the One X too long. Thanks for the help guys.
Good to know

TWRP fails after update

So guys, yesterday I updated twrp (cwm) on my i9505 and everything worked fine.
this afternoon i suddenly couldnt use my phone anymore because i got systemui fc's messages every 3 seconds.
i reflashed the rom, cleaned cache +dalvik but it still wouldnt work.
so i thought: hey, you did a complete backup yesterday, why not use that.
well, seems that this didnt work out so well.
its always telling me failed when trying to restore either /system or /data (boot and efs works fine).
i dont exactly know whether i made the backup before or after the update, but either way i do think that it SHOULD NOT be a problem (im looking at you, devs)
do you guys have any idea on how i can possibly use my old backups? i downgraded again but it still says failed everytime
any help will be greatly appreciated.
oh and yes, i did use the search, but all suggestions that help didnt with me
hi.
i'm not a pro/dev, but by flashing rom or restoring backup i think you are missing a point.
i think, you need stock recovery too to have phone fully reset. in case you flash Stock rom i think it also flashes stock recovery too. but incase not, the old recovery and changes you made to custom recovery are still there. so you maybe is facing that problem.
as i mentioned above that i'm not pro/dev, so again just trying to find the exact problem/point maybe you are missing or i could be wrong too. all i mean is that updated recovery is still there. see in case you can flash stock recovery and stock/custom rom again. i hope you get the point/idea what i mean to say. try it and i think you'll not get the error.
but do not do anything in case you are not sure/aware about what you are doing.
i hope it help.
no, i dont need the stock recovery to fully reset it. trwp can do that too.
actually my point was that it denies to restore that backup and i have no goddman clue why.
(so nothing about roms or so, all that works perfectly fine)
ok i fixed it, it seems like the last backup i made was faulty so i just took an older backup. never had an issue like this before

[Completed] Corrupted backup? Big problems

Hi guys, wasn't sure where to post this and I've been searching the web for hours without coming up with an answer with the best way to fix the problem I've got.
So yesterday my sister gave me her phone saying it was shat and slow and generally rubbish (S4 i9505 running 4.4.2). So I had a brief look at it and she had absolutely no room on the phone at all, it was completely clogged. So I deleted all the cache data (4 gigs!!), as soon as I did this the phone came back to life and started updating everything it could, then made a backup in CWM. Thought while I'm here I may as well put the official Lollipop firmware on it from Sammobile. All was good until I realised that she has never backed anything up to google or any other cloud storage (pretty dumb!) and all of her important stuff I couldn't get back.
So I then had to try and extract some data from the CWM backup... couldn't do it. I just couldn't find the files that she wanted restored. Mainly whatsapp messages and pictures and also Smemo. These are all she needs, there's really important memos apparently, why the hell she never backed them up or had another copy of them is beyond me if they were that important!
So I tried restoring just the data part of the 4.4 CWM restore to the 5.0 rom, looking back now I see this is where I went wrong and was asking for trouble.
So I then tried rolling back to the full CWM backup, all went well so I assumed and it said it was successful. This was until the phone booted. Constant spamming of gapps has stopped working, and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to stop, the phone was unusable with it constantly pinging up, every app was failing, and then it would turn itself off and reboot.
So I Factory reset again and wiped everything, installed the backup again, same thing happened again. Even tried flashing the latest version of gapps, but nothing had any effect.
So now I'm thinking oh feck... I didn't make a backup of the Lollipop install as I thought the rollback would have just cured it, and she had already started messing about with it, making it look pretty and getting people to send her some of the important files she had.
So I thought balls, tough luck and you'll have to start again, your fault for never backing anything up. So I reflashed Lollipop, and for some reason it wouldn't boot. Would just hang at the Samsung logo, this was 4am, I was panicking as I'd effectively bricked her phone. So after lots of boot loops and countless flashes I was looking on ebay for a new phone for her, then suddenly it finally boots on one of the flashes.
Anyway after a lot of faffing about, flashing 4.4 which worked, so flashed 5.0 again, and luckily it booted, I don't know what happened, maybe I missed something as I was so tired, so I signed her into google and let all the apps download while I slept.
Now the question is, I seem to have found a site that explains how to extract individual files vaguely, I just need to get the smemos and whatsapp files and I'm not entirely sure where to look and extract these files. Also, will they corrupt if I try to install them on the 5.0 firmware?
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm really in the stinky brown stuff.
Morning bump if anyone can shed some light on this :crying:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you tried using this tool?
[Tool] Cwm nandbackup file Extractor ( .img/ .tar files )
It should extract exactly what you need. If you're only reinstalling those specific apps with their data you should have no issues, just don't restore any system data, that's what caused your problems after restoring the KitKat backup on top of the Lollipop ROM.
No response in two days, thread closed, thanks.

PLEASE help! Bootloop issues

Hey guys, I was gifted a transformer tf700t, well I tried doing custom ROM's or some **** or tried putting a new OS on it, and now it's all ****ed up. It tries to boot into "Cromi-K" or some ****, but I can go into recovery I think it's called and use TWRP or the other popular one and flash images, only I don't know what images to flash to just get it back to stock, and every image I try it fails to flash it.. even after I clear cache and clear everything else. All I want is it back to stock and running again. I'll pay like $10 BTC if that's allowed if someone can help me. I also dont know anything about using commands from the PC and pushing it to the tablet.. so..
If you can help, my Skype is: Goldstingz
Thanks
