I know this question has been asked by many people in many ways, but I am lost and would appreciate your help.
To make a long story short, I have a TF101 which keeps going into CWMD no matter what I do. I cannot cold boot it through to the OS. I have tried several solutions to get the device working again including:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Attempting to flash the stock ROM straight from the ASUS website
http://www.blogotechblog.com/2012/02/how-to-install-rooted-stock-ics-rom-on-eee-pad-transformer
NOTHING is working right! I have a complete backup of apps and data using Titanium and I just want a clean, rooted machine to start from. What is the most sure fire way to do this?
Undying gratitude in advance!
John
How about some basic information?
What did you last do before this started happening?
What version of CWM do you have?
I tried to do the OTA update after temporarily rooting the device with OTA Rootkeeper
I am using v 5.5.0.4
Does cwm even see anything that you can flash if you choose "choose zip from sdcard"? If it does, this might help, but you will probably have to push it with adb... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303
Search around for hints on using adb, there are guides and freaky ways to install drivers to get it to work.
I managed to use a rooted rom to get it to boot up (one that you did at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303). And now have the following issues:
The ROM does not have either Market or Google Play. so I can't install things like ROM manager and Titanium
The system is acting "modally" - essentially requiring that I completely exit an application before i enter another one. So in order to use another app, I have to completely back out of the one I'm in.
Even though the ROM is running the latest update, the system is prompting me to load the OTA update anyway.

Can't seem to flash anything now. Least not from the computer or the OS. I'm stuck with CWMOD 3.2.0.1 roach2010-tf101-r1. It won't cold boot. ADB recognizes the unit in recovery mode but I have to assume that the entire OS is buggered. I can't even do a device wipe without an error. I think I have to get it back to "factory" via ADB, but I haven't found a clear and reliable set of instructions.
Melting....melting!!!

So here is my issue. I have a Droid X. Used EasyRoot to root before 2.2, once 2.2 came out i ditched easyroot, DLed 2.2 and then did the Droid2 Method of installing root. Since I finally got froyo (and figured Ginger woudlnt be out for awhile) i figured i would try my hands at adding some themes. I installed ROM Manager and Bootstrapper (both paid) and flashed clokworkmod and played around with them for a day or so, and kinda figured it wasnt really what i wanted to get into, and decided to go back to just plain root.
So i UNinstalled both root manager and Bootstrapper, and did a batt pull... Now everytime i do a batt pull the "clockwork recovery" screen comes up asking if i want to recover my device. Why is this still on the phone if i uninstalled ROM Manager? There is a folder in my files labeled "Clockwork" but im almost afraid now that if i delete it ill get a Bloop.
How do i go about getting clockwork off my phone? Also, with the Droid2 root method, if i just remove the root, will clockwork and everything else go with it? then i can just re-root?
Clockwork Recovery is seperate from ROM Manager.
ROM Manager can be used to control Clockwork Recovery, but it is NOT CR.
I don't own a DroidX, so I don't know if it's possible to get back to the stock recovery, but no matter what, you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
Clockwork should stay on your phone pretty much regardless of anything else. Even if you factory restore your phone, it'll still be there because it's your recovery partition.
Basically, think of it as that message on an HP/Dell/Others that says "Press F11 to enter recovery mode" and from there you can reinstall a factory refresh of windows.
Same thing here, except you'd restore a backup you've made previously.
You could also flash a ROM you've found online.
You could also initiate a factory reset, but if you've messed with anything in the /system directory, it might not work.
That makes sense. So I guess my next question is Ifi have to take the phone back to vzw will that flag it as voided? Even if I remove root? And will I have problems with any future OTAs?

I have searched a bit and can't find what I am looking for. I have a rooted tbolt and not new to rooting but not familiar with the d2global(my son's phone). So I rooted via the 4z method and everything went smooth. Downloaded cw bootstrap and loaded liquid gingerbread 2.5. I am very upset as I forgot to make a backup prior. Anyway I did a factory reset, cache wipe, etc.. and loaded the rom. Now there is no service and I am stuck in aiplane mode. I am hoping there is a simple fix. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Nevermind, figured it out Loaded CM7, must have been something within the liquid rom.
there is no liquid rom for the d2g, if you try installing a rom for the d2 (which i assume liquid is for) your radio wont work, which is why its always in airplane mode.
cm7, on the other hand, is made for the d2g.

i did the same thing, and now i'm stuck, i tried to do a recovery and somehow it won't let me i tried holding the power and volume down to try to do a manual recovery, cause i did a backup so i can restore, unfortunately i can't get to that recovery...if i knew liquid 2.5 was bad i shouldn't have installed that POS...any help will be good, thanks
Your baseband is FUBAR, so you need to reflash an SBF.
Instructions here.
Finding the images and RSDLite with Google should be easy enough; if not (and only in that case), PM me.
JFYI: there is no way to get to CWM if you cannot boot the OS to at least a bootloop after the point where adb shell becomes available.
Thank you
Thanks, i will def give it a try...i can get to bootloader by holding power button and both volume button...i just didn't know what to do from there...
The problem i'm having is :
phone does boot up running liquid 2.5, problem no service stuck in airplane mode
all function of the phone works just can't make calls etc without service
i do see the backup files when i open file manager, just can't get it to open up, hopefully that bootloader thing works,
if rom manager was working that would help solv e everything cause i would be able to restore, but the app is not there when loaded liquid, usually when you ask to rebbot it would give you an option to reboot or recover...oh well
thanks so much hopefully i can try to resolve it later tonight...
by the way what is CWM, what does that mean
CWM is ClockworkMod Recovery, the “custom” recovery that lets you perform backup and restore of your phone's flash memory and install various custom ROMs and modifications. See http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery for a bit more information on it.
Question where would i find the images and what rev RSDLite do i use 4.9 or 5.0, sorry, just asking...
Google the file names, should net you some results.
4.9 or 5.0, doesn't really matter. 5.0 is reported to work better than 4.9 on Windows 7 systems.
thanks, i got it to work....thanks so much...
Hello, I've got a problem and I'd be very happy for any advice.
I am on rom JellyBean AOSP. I was using my Transformer and sound stopped working. So I decided to turn it off and on again and when I tried to turn it on and I wasn't able to start tablet anymore. I'm stuck on the first screen you see when you turn on the tablet. So I wanted to do factory reset in the recovery. In recovery everything works allright. When I click on the factory reset it says error when deleting something in /data/ and I also can't do "Format /data/" because of the same error.
Here is the log from recovery - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3045404/recovery.log
How can I completely delete /data/ can I do it somehow from PC for example? I don't care about my data I can lose everything. I just want to get it work. I also tried to flash AOSP JellyBean ROM again, but with the same effect. I think that tablet just can't do the factory reset but I don't know why. Thanks for any advice.
Hi there !
I think you should try to start your tablet into ADB mode, connect it to your computer and use the "adb shell" command. If your tablet was rooted, then you might be able to use the "su" command, but that depends also on your settings (I mean your Android settings... those you can't change anymore ).
Another way to get your TF101 working again is to use the NVflash "unbrick pack". OK, you'll be running the stock non-rooted ROM, but you'll be able to root it again and install a new fresh copy of your Android AOSP. I'm going to search for a link to this nvflash and I'll post it asap.
By the way, were you using the AOSP "alpha" from RaymanFX ?
EDIT : NVflash unbrick pack is here, and you also might want to try with EasyFlasher !
Thanks, I'll try it. Yes, I've been using alpha from RaymanFX. I haven't done anything that could "brick" my device while using the tablet before I turned it off.
This is what tablet shows after I attempt to do a factory reset. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3045404/DSC05813.JPG

That's weird. And you're using an old CWM Recovery
I think in most CWM versions there's a "fix permissions" item, you could try this one first. Im' not sure of what it exactly does, but it might do the trick: a permission-related problem seems (to me) a good reason for displaying this kind of errors...
yeah I also tried fix permissions but didn't help. I also remembered that it sometimes freezes even in the recovery. Is it safe to flash a new recovery NOW when I'm not able to startup the tablet? Please could you link me to the best recovery that I should flash? thanks a lot. I'm careful about it and I don't want to do something that would brick my device.
I dunno if it is the best recovery, but I prefer to use the CWM Recovery.
You'll find the 6.x series here.
I actually use the 6.x on my Sony Xperia Ray.
On my TF101, I use this touch Rogue recovery, not as recent as the first one. In fact I never did the update 'cause I'm waiting for the next release of RaymanFX's CM10 release to flash everything
EDIT: And I think you can flash a new recovery safely, because it's not on the same partition as the Android system. And in the case it fails, you should be able to boot in ADB mode and use the NVflash unbrick pack to get your device up and running !
oh god thank you so much. New recovery helped a lot it did factory reset and everything works allright. I would like to ask you one more question. what's in your opinion best rom for Transformer? I just want it to be stable. Because I don't like freezing every day and slow motion through tablet. I tried many roms but it was always unreliable. Thank you )
Great !
About the ROM s, one told me that Revolver is a great one, but I never used it.
I never had problems with CyanogenMod 9. I would recommend that one !
For now I'm running RaymanFX's CM10 build, which is great too !

I just purchased a p509 as a backup phone and figured I could easily root it and flash a better ROM on it. I am not new to the whole flashing process. I've had no problems doing all this on three other phones (LG G2x, Galaxy Centura, and a Galaxy S 4G).
I rooted it using Gingerbreak. Seemed to go ok. My first problem was having error messages using Astro File Manager. I then got a little carried away with Titanium Backup and deleted the LG Home launcher and probably something else I shouldn't have. I of course then had no home screen. I used Gmail to send the APK to myself and install it. I then had my home screen, but I still got error messages every time I hit the home button.
I then installed ROM manager to try and get a recovery on the phone and wipe out all my issues with a new ROM. It gets to 100% installing CWM and then I get a Superuser error message. If I try and fix permissions I get the same thing.
Any advice? The only factory restore help i can find is the basic hard reset stuff.
Every time something needs Superuser, SU gives me a FC. I can't even install Busybox. Is there no way to return this phone to the way it came from the factory?
Ok so I seem to have SU working now. But Busybox still won't install...
Well even though no one cares to help (not surprised on XDA) I want to add some info. I have tried flashing a recovery two different ways through terminal emulator with no luck. My current status is using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003080
I'm trying to type in "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" and getting a not enough memory message. This is becoming the most pain in the ass thing i have ever tried to do. I would love to just have it back to the way I received it with all the stock apps and games and not having to email myself the LG Home launcher every time I reset it. Any insight would be appreciated.
the problem is that rom manager is not compatible anymore with O1(if you managed to install recovery do not boot into it from rommanager, use combo keys), so read this post to install recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723 (to go in fastboot try to use quickboot from playstore), search forum for flashable recovery thread for O1,
or, to make it stock just flash an oldbb GB rom 2.2 and use LG support tool from LG site and update to latest version available, worked for me
Thank you very much. I actually just solved the problem with this guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318750 and running GingerDX.
Good to know how to get it back to stock though. I swear I searched and got nothing but "Hard reset" results.

I was using latest cyanogenmod versions on my Moto g safely for the past 2 months or so. Today after trying to restart my device it got stuck on the boot animation. I am fairly confident that I can simply reinstall the OS to fix this issue however as far as I know, only media files will stay intact whereas apps and their data will vanish. If I understood correctly, the backup option through the recovery (CWM in my case) will backup entire ROM, so I tried using one available through "adb backup" command when phone is plugged in my PC. However it asks me to unlock and confirm it on my phone so I guess the OS needs to be actually running for this. Is there another way?

Hello, and welcome to XDA! You could try a clean install again, and you might find that the phone boots, or you could try flashing another rom. One option would be to check the cm thread to see if others have had this issue and if it's now been fixed, or to ask for help. Did you download your rom from an XDA thread? If so, ask in that thread. If not, try this rom and see if it solves the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/orig-development/rom-official-cyanogenmod-12-nightly-t2994749. You would need to register in order to post.
Good luck!
