Hello, I've got a problem and I'd be very happy for any advice.
I am on rom JellyBean AOSP. I was using my Transformer and sound stopped working. So I decided to turn it off and on again and when I tried to turn it on and I wasn't able to start tablet anymore. I'm stuck on the first screen you see when you turn on the tablet. So I wanted to do factory reset in the recovery. In recovery everything works allright. When I click on the factory reset it says error when deleting something in /data/ and I also can't do "Format /data/" because of the same error.
Here is the log from recovery - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3045404/recovery.log
How can I completely delete /data/ can I do it somehow from PC for example? I don't care about my data I can lose everything. I just want to get it work. I also tried to flash AOSP JellyBean ROM again, but with the same effect. I think that tablet just can't do the factory reset but I don't know why. Thanks for any advice.
Hi there !
I think you should try to start your tablet into ADB mode, connect it to your computer and use the "adb shell" command. If your tablet was rooted, then you might be able to use the "su" command, but that depends also on your settings (I mean your Android settings... those you can't change anymore ).
Another way to get your TF101 working again is to use the NVflash "unbrick pack". OK, you'll be running the stock non-rooted ROM, but you'll be able to root it again and install a new fresh copy of your Android AOSP. I'm going to search for a link to this nvflash and I'll post it asap.
By the way, were you using the AOSP "alpha" from RaymanFX ?
EDIT : NVflash unbrick pack is here, and you also might want to try with EasyFlasher !
Thanks, I'll try it. Yes, I've been using alpha from RaymanFX. I haven't done anything that could "brick" my device while using the tablet before I turned it off.
This is what tablet shows after I attempt to do a factory reset. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3045404/DSC05813.JPG

That's weird. And you're using an old CWM Recovery
I think in most CWM versions there's a "fix permissions" item, you could try this one first. Im' not sure of what it exactly does, but it might do the trick: a permission-related problem seems (to me) a good reason for displaying this kind of errors...
yeah I also tried fix permissions but didn't help. I also remembered that it sometimes freezes even in the recovery. Is it safe to flash a new recovery NOW when I'm not able to startup the tablet? Please could you link me to the best recovery that I should flash? thanks a lot. I'm careful about it and I don't want to do something that would brick my device.
I dunno if it is the best recovery, but I prefer to use the CWM Recovery.
You'll find the 6.x series here.
I actually use the 6.x on my Sony Xperia Ray.
On my TF101, I use this touch Rogue recovery, not as recent as the first one. In fact I never did the update 'cause I'm waiting for the next release of RaymanFX's CM10 release to flash everything
EDIT: And I think you can flash a new recovery safely, because it's not on the same partition as the Android system. And in the case it fails, you should be able to boot in ADB mode and use the NVflash unbrick pack to get your device up and running !
oh god thank you so much. New recovery helped a lot it did factory reset and everything works allright. I would like to ask you one more question. what's in your opinion best rom for Transformer? I just want it to be stable. Because I don't like freezing every day and slow motion through tablet. I tried many roms but it was always unreliable. Thank you )
Great !
About the ROM s, one told me that Revolver is a great one, but I never used it.
I never had problems with CyanogenMod 9. I would recommend that one !
For now I'm running RaymanFX's CM10 build, which is great too !

I have searched a bit and can't find what I am looking for. I have a rooted tbolt and not new to rooting but not familiar with the d2global(my son's phone). So I rooted via the 4z method and everything went smooth. Downloaded cw bootstrap and loaded liquid gingerbread 2.5. I am very upset as I forgot to make a backup prior. Anyway I did a factory reset, cache wipe, etc.. and loaded the rom. Now there is no service and I am stuck in aiplane mode. I am hoping there is a simple fix. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Nevermind, figured it out Loaded CM7, must have been something within the liquid rom.
there is no liquid rom for the d2g, if you try installing a rom for the d2 (which i assume liquid is for) your radio wont work, which is why its always in airplane mode.
cm7, on the other hand, is made for the d2g.

i did the same thing, and now i'm stuck, i tried to do a recovery and somehow it won't let me i tried holding the power and volume down to try to do a manual recovery, cause i did a backup so i can restore, unfortunately i can't get to that recovery...if i knew liquid 2.5 was bad i shouldn't have installed that POS...any help will be good, thanks
Your baseband is FUBAR, so you need to reflash an SBF.
Instructions here.
Finding the images and RSDLite with Google should be easy enough; if not (and only in that case), PM me.
JFYI: there is no way to get to CWM if you cannot boot the OS to at least a bootloop after the point where adb shell becomes available.
Thank you
Thanks, i will def give it a try...i can get to bootloader by holding power button and both volume button...i just didn't know what to do from there...
The problem i'm having is :
phone does boot up running liquid 2.5, problem no service stuck in airplane mode
all function of the phone works just can't make calls etc without service
i do see the backup files when i open file manager, just can't get it to open up, hopefully that bootloader thing works,
if rom manager was working that would help solv e everything cause i would be able to restore, but the app is not there when loaded liquid, usually when you ask to rebbot it would give you an option to reboot or recover...oh well
thanks so much hopefully i can try to resolve it later tonight...
by the way what is CWM, what does that mean
CWM is ClockworkMod Recovery, the “custom” recovery that lets you perform backup and restore of your phone's flash memory and install various custom ROMs and modifications. See http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery for a bit more information on it.
Question where would i find the images and what rev RSDLite do i use 4.9 or 5.0, sorry, just asking...
Google the file names, should net you some results.
4.9 or 5.0, doesn't really matter. 5.0 is reported to work better than 4.9 on Windows 7 systems.
thanks, i got it to work....thanks so much...
I know this question has been asked by many people in many ways, but I am lost and would appreciate your help.
To make a long story short, I have a TF101 which keeps going into CWMD no matter what I do. I cannot cold boot it through to the OS. I have tried several solutions to get the device working again including:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Attempting to flash the stock ROM straight from the ASUS website
http://www.blogotechblog.com/2012/02/how-to-install-rooted-stock-ics-rom-on-eee-pad-transformer
NOTHING is working right! I have a complete backup of apps and data using Titanium and I just want a clean, rooted machine to start from. What is the most sure fire way to do this?
Undying gratitude in advance!
John
How about some basic information?
What did you last do before this started happening?
What version of CWM do you have?
I tried to do the OTA update after temporarily rooting the device with OTA Rootkeeper
I am using v 5.5.0.4
Does cwm even see anything that you can flash if you choose "choose zip from sdcard"? If it does, this might help, but you will probably have to push it with adb... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303
Search around for hints on using adb, there are guides and freaky ways to install drivers to get it to work.
I managed to use a rooted rom to get it to boot up (one that you did at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303). And now have the following issues:
The ROM does not have either Market or Google Play. so I can't install things like ROM manager and Titanium
The system is acting "modally" - essentially requiring that I completely exit an application before i enter another one. So in order to use another app, I have to completely back out of the one I'm in.
Even though the ROM is running the latest update, the system is prompting me to load the OTA update anyway.

Can't seem to flash anything now. Least not from the computer or the OS. I'm stuck with CWMOD 3.2.0.1 roach2010-tf101-r1. It won't cold boot. ADB recognizes the unit in recovery mode but I have to assume that the entire OS is buggered. I can't even do a device wipe without an error. I think I have to get it back to "factory" via ADB, but I haven't found a clear and reliable set of instructions.
Melting....melting!!!
Ok I will try to explain this.
If I do the software reset and reboot it comes back on and nothing happens as in nothing gets wiped or reset, nothing changes.
If I do a factory reset it reboots and nothing changes all apps settings even browser history is still there.
If I plug xoom into pc and try to erase storage part of it which windows shows it is and reboot everything comes right back.
I have tried loading the stock img files with fastboot(yes I unlocked it first).
I have even tried a custom rom with a different recovery and after a reboot it is right back the way I left it before I tried anything, no custom rom no custom recovery.
While using the tablet, if I try unistalling an app or several then rebooting it comes back as if I did nothing.
If I install an app it installs then try and use it and it force closes.
I am on 4.04 and IMM76.
It makes no difference what I do to it, after a reboot it goes back to the same stuff that was on there, no changes at all.
Thanks
try to delete everything in sdcard. not external, internal
There is not an sd card in it right now.
Can't you try reflashing your device? Maybe works... I mean the official firmware found on Motodev site.. you can try Stock Install feature of LordAIOTool Linux version (and Linux only! Windows is outdated!) Good luck!

I have the same issue as well. Reflashing doesn't do anything because it just reverts back to how it was. It is as if the Xoom is stuck in time
I even contacted Motorola and they had no clue, and I can't get it repaired because it is out of warranty and there is no way I would pay $150 to get it repaired.
The basic deal is I got bored of the software and decided that I should root an install some custom ROMs on my Nexus S.
I used the One click method posted I believe in the general forum and everything went smoothly. I downloaded the latest AOKP and CM zips, put them onto my phones memory and went on with my day.
So today I began to put on the AOKP ROM and it got stuck at the initiating swagger screen. And was stuck there for a good 20minutes. I didn't know what to do, so I battery pulled.
I thought I had some backup saved from the day before, but that wasn't the case. So now I'm essentially stuck in thee boot menu for clockwork and my phone has been rendered useless. If any of you guys know what I should do, please tell, I'm extremely pissed off at myself for letting this happen.
I deleted the Cache partition and Dalvik thing when I was first getting ready to put on the ROM. I didn't to a factory wipe, so that might be an issue? I don't know. I've also tried plugging the phone into my computer, but because I cant turn on USB mass storage, I can't look through that either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi,
If ur in the bootloader screen scroll down until u see recovery. Then press the power button.
From recovery scroll down to mounts and storage to connect to computer via USB.
From here u have a few options bjt i would just download another ROM and its gapps or a ROM that already contains them.
Just be careful to get the correct zips for ur type of phone
Good luck

Wow. Thanks a lot. Do you think I should do a factory reset before I install a new rom?
EDIT: Hey vidaljs, thanks for the help! I got the CM10 ROM up and running, apparently I was running some really old version! That USB mount thing really helped!!

No worries
Next thing u should do is make a backup of this working ROM so u can always go back to it in a pinch.
And always follow what the developers suggest in their thread since they created it.
But when I go to a new ROM, I always do a factory reset, wipe cache and wipe Dalvic.
If u haven't found it yet, use titanium backup for ur apps so its easier to apply them to ur newly flashed ROM. The free version is fine but I've heard that paid version has some extra useful benefits.
Good luck and happy flashing.

Hi guys,
Almost same stroy, I tried to Root & install Cyanomodgen 10 on my Nexus S, but boot isn't working quite well, and I'm stuck at a circling image preparing the launch.
Recovery isn't working I got stuck at the image with the robot and the back and the exclamation mark on top of it and like 5 minutes later it launch the cyanomodgen ring again - and can't get in download mode.
I pretty don't get what I should do.
Any idea?
I feel I lack some info on my problem, I'll create a fresh post for it
thanks
I'm at wit's end here. My TF101 will not stop rebooting. it doesn't matter what firmware I have on it (stock rooted, stock UNrooted, CM9, Frozn). it just reboots. the majority of the time it goes into a boot loop, or, if I'm lucky, I'll actually get to the homescreen for about five seconds, then it reboots. I just tried flashing the stock rom again. can't even get to the welcome screen now. I Never had this problem until I downloaded a firmware update (for stock ROM)
Using Rogue XM Recovery 1.5.0 (cwm doesn't want to work, for some reason)

When you flash between firmware, are you wiping cache, Davlik and doing a factory reset?
Go back to stock using easyflasher. It'll wipe your device clean, so make sure to back up important data. Then start over. I suggest Fred's guide over at transformeforums, it's the most complete one out there.

Tried that. Still boot-looping. nothing I do seems to help. so far, I've had the most luck with Frozn. CM9 nor the Stock asus firmware seem to work at all anymore. apparently the recovery is borked too. anytime i try to wipe something, It freezes.
am I just SOL?
(edit) alright, so I tried it again. instead of boot-looping, now it just sits at the Eee pad screen forever
I would try using TWRP instead of Rogue. Never had an issue with Rogue myself, but TWRP is better IMO.
You can use EasyFlasher to push it in APX mode, or use ADB shell and push it using the dd command (see the terminal method here: http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/109)

It did. Now I can actually get into the OS for awhile, but it still reboots randomly (and bootloops, although not as often). I've been doing some googling. apparently the reboot/bootloop problem Is ICS based (or so some think) and, to be honest, I didn't have any problems with it before I updated from Honeycomb. that being said, someone wouldn't happen to have a spare honeycomb ROM lying around, would they? google (oddly enough) turned up nothing, and Android Revolution just leads to dead links...
Edit: never mind, someone fixed the links. will try 3.2 after I get home from work.
IMO if you are getting RR and SOD on a fresh stock install with nothing installed, it is probably a hardware issue with a failing chip on one of the boards. If it is still under warranty you may want to try to return it for repair.
Well, I haven't had the SoD issue, just reboots. I was able to use it most of the day yesterday, before I shut it off myself. It turned on fine this morning, too (rebooted once).

Alright. So, I flashed it back to Honeycomb. Haven't had a reset or reboot all weekend. I guess the problem WAS ICS-based. Can't figure why, though.
only downside to that is, can't use some apps on the market. oh well, I'll live!
