I don't use that ROM but I have no issues with comcast here in PA. Are you sure you got your settings correct?
Before using this Rom I had no problems. All I had to do was input my email and password and it filled the rest out byitself..but since I updated my Rom I've been getting that error message.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
That ROM may not know how to fill out the comcast settings correctly. You may have to set it up manually.
I'm not using that rom, but I have used that base before and I had to manually setup email.
For incoming settings use:
POP server - mail.comcast.net
Security type - SSL
Server port - 995
For outgoing settings use:
SMTP server - smtp.comcast.net
Security type - SSL
Server port - 465
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
or you could try...
POP server: mail.comcast.net
security type: none
server port: 110
SMTP server: smtp.comcast.net
security type: none
server port: 587
Thanks guys it works now.

I'm not sure if this is from rooting, but I had been getting duplicate emails. One via the native email app, and one via gmail.
Gmail still works fine. But a little while ago, I had a look at the native app and my addresses were blank?
tried setting it up again... it tries to connect, but I get a "failed to connect" message? It's not the end of the world or anything, but any ideas?
Oh yeah, Hope every one has a GREAT CHRISTMAS & Holidays!!

O.k. not sure if I'm getting the "go figure it out your self" but I've checked; settings, wireless, APN, & it's blank? So I tried entering the info found here
APN - ltemobile.apnProxy - <not set>Port - <not set>Username- <Not set>*Passwors - <not set>Server < not set>MMSC -*http://mms.gprs.rogers.comMMS - proxy 10.128.1.69MMS - Port 80MMS protocol - Wap 2.0MCC - 302MNC - 720Aythentication type - < not set>*APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work
I saved it, but when I went back to check, it was blank again?
what I don't get, is that data & gmail work fine. It's just that I can't connect to the native email? I don't know if anything was in the apn settings before I rooted my phone?

did you check your operator sms out no ?
If your using at&t service then try this:
1. Name- at&t 310 410
2. Apn- wap.Cingular
3. Proxy- leave blank
4. Port- leave blank
5. Username- leave blank
6. Password- leave blank
7. Server- leave blank
8. MMSC- HTTP://mmsc.Cingular.com
9. MMS Proxy- wireless.Cingular.com
10. MMS Port- 80
11. MMC- 310
12. MNC- 410
13. Authentication Type- leave blank
14. APN Type- internet + mms
If this don't help you could try using and aftermarket SMS such as go SMS.

Can't send sms, i can send mms and receive regular sms and mms.
thanks
I hope this help throttled users. Since the wap.cingular APN bypass doesn't work anymore I use the visual voicemail APN to avoid being throttled. Create a new access point network and use acds.voicemail for APN, select internet+mms for APN type, and save. This gives me 2-3Mbps speed, good enough to stream radio and it doesn't trigger data counter.

Not sure why it's not working on others but it's working for me. You need to have visual voicemail activated with your LTE data plan. This apn is unlimited, meaning your data usage will always stay at 0. Data speed is between 2-3 Mbps. Btw if you're in an LTE area sometimes this apn won't work. Everytime I go to NYC or sometimes at Queens, my data is on/off with this apn, no big deal coz I just use the 'pta' APN.

I don't use visual voice mail, is it necessary that I do to make this work? If so, how does one "activate" it? Do I have to make a phone call to ATT or is it something I can do on my phone? Also, do you disable packet data before you switch the APN to the voicemail one and then reenable it? Of course all of this might not matter, I do live in San Francisco/LTE area...still willing to give it a shot though
Man they are gonna notice this thread and by tomorrow the apn will not work. Please remove this thread to avoid the few of us who have found that this works from getting disconnected just like the rest of the apn fixes.
We are spied on by At&t workers constantly so they are always a step behind us but catch up quick...

Open AT&T visual voicemail app and let it setup your vvm. Once everything is done, create this apn and save. This apn only works if you're using the AT&T visual voicemail app. Like what other have said, this apn sometimes don't work if you're in an LTE area. My friend just bought a Galaxy Note and he's using this apn with no problem.
Is visual voicemail a feature that I need to add to my monthly plan? Free or $$$? I opened up the app and it says I need to dial voice mail to set it up, all I get when I go to voicemail is it prompts me for my password and then goes to the normal mailbox options

No, visual voicemail is free. It is included with your LTE data plan. When you open the app it will dial your voicemail and ask you for your password. Once you enter your password, either end call or press *. After that it will go back to the visual voicemail app again.

ok so you have flashed the same radio that was with the rom im guessing thats the one it should be the thing to check does the wifi work. this dosnt require any network settings to be correct so you should be able to detect a connection even if you dont have one mayb your neibourhs do. alright if that dosn't work its the radio if it does its the network settings specific to your carrier settings. what your looking for is the apn settings for your carrier hopefully someone has posted them on the internet somewhere.
they'll look something like this:
Name TPG Mobile
APN internet
Proxy (blank)
Port (blank)
Username (blank)
Password (blank)
Server (blank)
MMSC (blank)
MMS Proxy (blank)
MMS Port (blank)
MMS Protocol (blank)
MCC 505
MNC 02
APN Type default
MMS settings
Go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Tap your phone's menu button -> New APN
And then fill in the fields as below:
Name Optus MMS
APN mms
Proxy 202.139.83.152
Port 8070
Username (blank)
Password (blank)
Server (blank)
MMSC http://mmsc.optus.com.au:8002/
MMS Proxy 61.88.190.10
MMS Port 8070
MMS Protocol WAP2.0
MCC 505
MNC 2
APN Type mms
these are of course mine and probably wont work for your carrier. if that dosn't work let me know

So I'll go ahead and add the TL;DR version first.
I cannot send SMS on ANY AOSP ROM.
Running latest CWM Touch.
Full Wipe
Clean Install.
Now the longer version.
I can receive msgs just fine.
This only happens with AOSP or CM Roms. Stock works fine.
When trying to send a msg, it will say Sending, fail and say Message not sent. Touch to retry.
A list of things I've tried:
Clearing Cache and/or Data from messaging app.
Deleting Telephony.db and mmssms.db.
Fixing permissions.
Using a different messaging app like Go SMS.
Violently gesturing toward the phone.
Praying.
Crossing fingers.
Pulling my hair out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I really don't want to be stuck on stock.
Also tried messing with the SMSC. No go.

Changing modems will NOT fix your issue. Do not waste your time. First have you tried a clean flash? This includes wiping Data. If not, do so. Then report back. If you have done this then try updating your build (include a complete wipe). FYI having the latest modem isn't always the best. You have you go based on coverage area, and dBm #s. Some people get better coverage with older modems. Again depends on your area. Test using dBm #s NOT bars.

Which version of gapps did you flash?
Also, I assume you did this, but under Mobile Networks>Preferred Network, it should be LTE or LTE/CDMA/EvDO (depending on the rom). I've had that flip to GSM on me when I flashed a rom and it wonked up my sms sending/receipt.

I use my VZW S3 on a GSM network. And I have flashed the recommended gapps and no gapps. None make a difference.

Ahh, that's because most roms for the d2vzw aren't working when people try to use the phone on GSM. There are mixed results with people being able to send, but not receive... receive, but not sent and neither send or receive. I've seen mixed results (at best) and it's due to the RILs for the device repos. If the CM repo manager for the d2vzw can work on getting GSM to work better with the device, you'll see better results, but it's a Verizon CDMA phone, so don't expect much traction.
Yes but the Touchwiz Roms work fine. Even the cm roms work. I get data and MMS and can receive msgs I just can't send. I can't see that being a RIL problem.

Solution that worked for me: Set APN-type correctly
Hi
I would like to add the solution that worked for me. I was browsing many forums for ages, before I got on the right track. Maybe it will work for you also.
My provider, has two sets of APN details, one for internet and one for mms. The tricky part for me, was setting the APN-type correctly.
For the internet APN the type should be set to:
Code:
default,supl
For the mms APN, the type should be set to:
Code:
mms
Furthermore, I deleted all other APN's that those two.
Here are the complete details (for the Danish provider "Bibob"):

Happy to be of help.
I found the default, supl / mms setting on some danish forum thread with that one post. The rest was from the "official" overview of danish providers, I think. But since you ask, I'm suddenly not sure. Anyway, the main thing is that it works, and the solution can be found again
