Recently I noticed that out of nowhere my audio for me phones speaker stopped working. I know its not something to do with the phones overall sound because plugging in headphones or some other audio cable gives me sound when playing music etc. I don't get any sound when playing music through my phones speaker.
Last known thing I did to my phone was try and reflash leedroid's gb 3.3.3 and then the dhd to inspire + audio fix combo in the op of the Dev thread for the leedroid Rom. Now even after nandroid restoring there is still no sound. Fully wiping doesn't give me sound either.
Did my speaker just decide to take a poop (not the best way to describe the speaker) ?
Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks.

Try flashing back to stock. If still an issue, then you are at stock already and can use warranty on it.

Downloading the RUU that recently came out to go back to stock. Ill see how that goes. Hopefully I don't have to go all the way back to 2.2 froyo stock and unrooted to fix this.
If nothing works as far as flashing then my speakerphone blew some how. I never increased the volume for long periods of time.

Well it's no big deal to back to stock. Just do a nandroid and if you need to flash back to rooted everything is saved. It's probably a connection messed up in the phone, not a blown speaker.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
So I flashed the stock RUU rom for gingerbread 2.3.3. I'm still rooted because that should mess up the speaker phone.
All in all nothing worked. I called ATT and HTC. ATT wants me to pay $125 for a new phone, yet I paid $99 for the phone when I got it. I have the insurance plan and it's under warranty.
Or see if i can fix it by flashing something.
HTC said, just send in the phone once they get it they will try and fix it as long as they don't detect i'm rooted. I don't know if I should go back to no root for the time being send my phone in get it fixed for free hopefully and wait the 6-10 business days for the phone.
HTC said if they can't fix due to some other issue (most likely warranty being voided) then I would have to pay $35 for labor and shipping. And they won't fix my phone.
So those are my options.
I'd choose the HTC option over $125 from ATT.
Let me hear your opinions.
Thanks

LOL...HTC actually said to you, unprompted, "as long as we don't detect you're rooted"? Or did you subtly and hypothetically bring up the rooting issue? I'm surprised they said that, given the rooting community is so small compared to the general user base. It would be like your local car dealer saying, "Yes, we will fix your new car under warranty as long as you haven't put a new engine in it". Kind of a rare situation that doesn't warrant even mentioning IMO.
I had the same issue for my phone few months back. It's the speaker popping.

Yes only a small number roots, but out of that small number most of their repairs come from rooted phones.
I think i just bricked my phone. I am trying to return to S-on and after following all the instructions in the main sticky, i wrote the SUPERCID back to tmobile, and put in the writesecuflag 3 command, and rebooted the bootloader. Now the phone will not turn on at all. Won't power on regular and cannot turn it on into the bootloader. When i plug the phone into the computer QHUSB-DLOAD comes up in the device manager as to what it is saying it is attatched as. Adb shows no devices and RUU's cannot find the device. Omg i really hope i didnt hose this phone.

Since i got it from craigslist my only hope is paying htc to repair it i'm assuming?

Just got off the phone with HTC. It is still covered under their warranty. Hopefully since all my void stickers in good standing, I have no physical damage, was able to get the CID back to Tmous and the write secureflag3 went through, there will be no reason to deny it. Here is hoping! I think EXT4 recovery is still on there though. Hopefully it will be so bricked that they will have to reset it and reload the software to be able to do anything with it
Hope you manage to get it fixed!
A question, I have yet to root my XE, but is SUPERCID a must on a sim free phone if you want to flash roms?
the fact is that if it is so bricked that it won't turn on at all they won't check it further. many members achieved to get a new phone as replacement
Just make sure you tell HTC you are the original owner and didnt get it from craigslist. Also DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES Mention any hacking forums like XDA,or ROOT, Just claim that it said "an update was available" so you chose to update and the battery died.I've had free repairs under warranty by using that same advice, A friend of mine mentioned root on his nexus one and they charged him for repair even though it was a month old as he voided the warranty

I definitely didnt mention xda or flashing roms or anything, and I told them i received it as an anniversary gift (even though i really did get it from craigslist). Told them i rebooted the phone and it just never came back on. Which really is what happened while leaving out a few details lol.
I wonder what would them HTC guys think if they are already among us
same thing happened to me the other day on my evo 3d...gonna send it in to htc as well...hope they won't know...what are the chances of them getting the phone to turn on??

From everything i read online it really seems hit or miss depending on the technician you get. More often than not they seem to let things slide even if it seems obvious that they should have been able to see it was rooted etc. Here is hoping . I'm gonna send it out tomorrow and will keep this thread updated with developments if anyone is interested in how it went. I have read some HORROR stories about people sending there phone to HTC and it become missing in action for MONTHS. I really pray to christ that does not happen to me.
O/T a little bit, but how come with just about any other "thing" in life a warranty is good and is tied to the object and not to the person. Even though i got this phone off of craigslist, why should that have ANYTHING to do with it. The phone is the phone and the warranty is the warranty regardless of whose possession it is in. I just don't think tmobile should be able to do that. Also i think it's BS that if you buy a brand new phone and it breaks 2 days later, they give you a refurb and not a new one. How do they get away with this ****!
i think im gonna take my chances as well...the person i talked to at htc did say that if the damages were caused by me then i would have a choice to pay them to fix if not i would have to pay $35 to get the phone back...so this could end up costing the shipping to send phone and the $35 to get the phone back.

Just wondering how this has progressed. Did you send your phone to HTC? Did they say what the potential repair costs could be?
Well i sent it out on 12/21 and they received it on 12/28. On the tracking website, it says "In repair". From experience, if it is going to have any issues or gonna charge you any money, it says under review until you have spoke to them and made arrangements or paid them. One thing that is pissing me off good is that every day, the day it says it was received is changed. So everyday i have checked, it went from saying received on 12/28, to 12/29, to 12/30, and now 1/1. So i dont know if that is just the way the system works, or if they are trying to sheist me and take forever and a day like some of the horror stories i have read. Not really sure what their is to do but send a replacement since it is hard bricked and cannot be resuscitated even with professional tools from all the research i have done online. In the meantime, i bought a galaxy s 2 and am LOVING it, except for the lack of development in comparison to here in sensation land!

Well, to start off the new year right, my original G2x stopped sending/receiving SMS messages under any circumstances, whether it was on wifi, 4G, Edge, or GPRS. I unrooted it and got a new SIM card, still have the same issue (according to the person at the T-Mobile store, I had a "2G SIM card in a 4G phone.") They suggest a whole new phone, and I agree.
One day later with overnight shipping, I get my new G2x, and the first thing I notice is the LG branding in place of the T-Mobile branding. Ignoring that, I turn on the phone only to see dead pixels everywhere, I don't understand how they could have even sent this one out. I call up customer care and they make me go through the whole troubleshooting procedure, and they decided to send me another one. They also told me if this next one had problems, they'd send me a replacement phone of a different model.
So I'm getting a new G2x sent to me tomorrow. I hope this next one works just fine, or I'll have to get a new phone. Also, what replacement phones do they usually offer for the G2x?
I have been through this process, I'm on my third G2x and CC told me if I ha e anymore problems with my G2x then they will give me a different phone.e... When I asked what them replacement model would be the CC Rep told me they could only exchange it for the Sidekick 4G and I told them I would just deal with the G2x and any problems it my have

Thought I'd follow up on my original post. Got my new G2x in the mail, and it's much better. Overall, a good experience from T-Mobile.

On the g2x if you hold the power and down button, it should just do a master reset, it's not like HTC where it takes you to recovery (correct me if I'm wrong) but just to make sure your unrooted try to download and use a app that requires root

Hi
About a month ago my senny fell out of my training bag, and spent a night out in the rain. When I got it back, it seemed to work fine, until I discovered a few things:
I had to charge my phone 3 times a day
I could not hear the other person when I spoke to them in the phone
It does random shutdowns/reboots about ten times a day.
I have a insurance that follows my sim, and I'm thinking about returning it. If I return it, do I have to return to stock/s-on, and if I return it, what will they do with it? Fix it? Replace it? Send me another phone?
Thanks!
If they discover it's rooted they will deny your claim and blame rooting for the problem. So you have to go back to stock. Someone more knowledgeable about returning to stock can help you with that .but I'm positive it must be done .unfortunately .then it's up to your carrier to decide what to give for replacement. It could be another sensation, your sensation repaired, or another device they consider comparable. Likely it will be another sensation. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

I'm pretty certain they will not cover an damage whatsoever if there is evidence of water damage (meaning that little white moisture indicator turns red)
Doesn't matter what the damage is, they will deny warrenty due to water damage.
So unfortunately, you are probably screwed. You can call HTC or your phone company and ask (I'd leave out the part about rooting, even though there are many many reports of peopl ewho've sent a rooted phone in who got warrenty repairs no questions asked, but not with water damage) and quite frankly that's probably your best option right now. Get REAL answers, not our guesses.
But be prepared for them to say you have to buy a new device or pay for repairs out of pocket.
Sorry, bro.
Actually I had the same problem and By myself can change the digitalizer and the upper electronic without any problem, the process is so easy and Youtube is full of how-to videos.
I can reapir my sensation for 70 euros.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my situation. I have an AT&T One X that I rooted and flashed CM10.1, but was having problems with, so I relocked/unrooted the bootloader and restored the factory stock RUU using instructions from a youtube video to 2.20.
I then wanted to update to Jellybean using AT&T OTA software update, but that didn't work so I downloaded the RUU from the official HTC website. Everything was going fine until the end, when it said that the I was finished and the phone would restart. So I stupidly clicked finish and unplugged the phone from the computer, thinking that it would restart on its own. But the phone didn't restart, and I tried to hold the power button, no luck. I tried plugging the charger in, no red notification light came on. I tried holding the down volume button and power button, and that didn't work. I researched some online and it seems that my phone is bricked.
My question is will I be able to go to the ATT store or send it to HTC under warranty (it's been less than a year since I got this phone) for repair/replacement, or is the warranty void even after I relocked and unrooted the phone back to factory stock? If so, is sending it to JTAG it the best option? Thanks a lot.

S-on and SuperCID = brick
Think of it this way if you can't power it on neither can they. It's not quite honest but att shouldn't give you a problem if it's under warranty

If it's truly bricked they won't bee able to tell anyway. And from all reports, at&t don't even care if you messed with the phone. So you should take it in to get it replaced as your first option.

Would it be worth it to try the unlimited.io solution for QHUSB-DLOAD mode, since that's what shows up when I plug the phone in?

I tried it, didn't work. Gonna go to the ATT store tomorrow and hope they can fix/replace it under warranty.

Just play stupid. And ask them if they can make it turn on. They will most likely give up quick and hand off a new one

The AT&T store won't help you, unless the phone is less than 30 days from purchase. After 30 days, you need to work through the AT&T warranty department, and send the phone in, unless you happen to have a AT&T device support center nearby.

HTC is much more strict about denying warranty service than AT&T. AT&T doesn't care if the phone is modded, bootloader unlocked, even custom ROM. But in the state your phone is in, they can't tell anyway. They just want to keep you happy as a service customer, paying that montly bill. Recommend you sent to AT&T, not to HTC.
Also, you should have done more reading before running the RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181929
Thanks for the info guys. The ATT store sent me to a nearby device support center and they couldn't turn it on and so they replaced it under warranty! Thanks again for the help.
