Im just wondering besides the killer price tag of bills, is Verizon a good AT&T alternative ? As far as coverage and other network related things go?

I thought they were suppose to lower their plans rates.
Good.
I'm sick of people whining about paying a "4G fee".

Fantastic... this is horrible news. I have 8 people on my plan. I guess no one is upgrading (except me because I already did ).

Nope you don't have to unlock. Simple Mobile uses Tmobile's network.
Sweet that's what I thought thank you so it's just the apn deal and ill be set

Yup. I believe if yu bring it to a simple mobile retailer they'll set everything up for yu...Apn mms and data. All dat good stuff.

since it uses t mobile network. does your previous account with t mobile affect it.? Like for example say you owe Tmobile and you switch to simple will there be any draw backs.?

Nope...once you go to SM you are free of T-Mo. However, if you use Wifi calling or other T-Mo branded items you will not be able to use them on SM.
I did have a data loss last week with Simple here in Sacramento. They had tower issues. But nothing else of consequence.
One issue that I have had. On virtually every ROM is editing the APN. YOu can usually edit it once, but when you go back in often the APN's do not show up. Food for thought.
Lol. Hmm thank God. I'm going to get sm tomorrow. Thank you very much.

Actually you can and do get 4g depending on where you are located. I am in Sacramento and get 4g speeds on SM.
Your plan also has to do with speeds. If yo are on the $40.00 plan yes, you are restricted to 3g. If you pay $60.00 then you get 4G.
And no you do not have to unlock for SM.
They do offer a $60/month plan that has 4G. As usual the giant word plastered all over their website and retailers is "unlimited" - which, as we all know, is a load of crap. Yes it's "unlimited internet" - however you get 1gig at 4G - then the rest of the month you're throttled to a whopping 56k (so useless you can't even stream a song with it).
As for the disappearing APN problem - if you run the CM7 ROM, and you're APN's are not in there - all you have to do is pull the battery out, restart the phone, and the APN's are back in. Also as pointed out the specialized apps for t-mobile like the wifi calling app won't work.
Anyway - all that being said - I've been on Simple with my G2X for 3 months and it works quite well for me. Only wish they offered more data in the plans - so I try to stay connected to a wifi hotspot as much as possible.
I thought there flyer says 2gigs of data hahaha on the 60 dollar
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yes you do have to be unlocked on simple mobile. You cannot use a simple mobile sim in a locked phone. You also get 2gigs of data on the $60 plan and 4g if available in your area.

So you can get a boost evo design 4g $299 that the site says sells with ics already on it. For $55 a month shrinking bill and $10 extra for hotspot my only problem is boost network ain't all that great but it's all sprints network. I had a boost a long time ago not never for anything like a smart phone

Boost uses Sprint network without the benefit of any roaming agreements. Sprint network without the Verizon roaming agreement is horrible. The reason Sprint is rolling out lte is cuz wimax 4g is a failure. There is a reason the service is cheap. Contract and prepay is not comparing apples to apples. It's apples to tomatoes.

I would just like to get some feedback from T-Mobile users if they like the service they get. I'm currently with Verizon and just hate it. My wife and I are still under contract for about another year or so and I'm thinking of just paying the early termination fee and switching. Now I now coverage will vary depending on where you live but just want an overall view on your experiences with T-Mobile. Thanks

Unless you make six figures a year and have money to burn, go with T-Mobile
I left Verizon for TMO about 6 months ago. I'm definitely not Dissatisfied but it's definitely not an easy adjustment from LTE to HSPA+... Outside of the data speeds, I haven't hit a dead spot or dropped a call yet. YMMV.

Verizon reliability and speed are great. But their Bloatware sucks and you can't remove it completely.
Tmo is very reasonable if you live in city. In rural areas you'll have problems. Speed is decent and phones don't have all the security bloatware like Vzw.
If you travel for business use Vzw. If you rarely leave town then its personal choice really
Sent from my VS930 4G using xda app-developers app
Thanks everyone. I don't travel so I'm probably going to get T-Mobile. I like that its cheaper and they don't lock their phones down. The only decision left to make is should I wait or buy my way out? Guess I'll have to see how much it costs.

Hi,
Am living in Singapore and plan to order the N5 from my aunt in Canada. Will it be able to be used in Singapore? I'm pretty confused about the band thing - and I'm not going to use LTE since I refuse to recontract (will cut my data from 12gb to 2gb). Read somewhere that only certain "bands" are broadcast by certain phones and networks but not sure what that means wither.
