This is a modified market which will still let you download apps with a LCD density other than 240. Only problem is that paid apps don't work due to the apk not being signed by Google.
Permissions are Rw, r, r.
Use root explorer to copy the apk to system/app and then rename the file to vending.apk. Make sure to rename the original vending.apk to something like vending.apk1 or keep a backup somewhere

HELP ME...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, running Gingerbread XWKDD, Android 2.3.3, Samsung's Touchwiz 4.0.
Rooted my SGS2 and got Titanium Backup, I uninstalled the clock app because I thought it was a widget and I didn't want to see alot of widget. Anyway, turns out the clock 1.0 is actually a system app by the name of com.sec.android.app.clockpackage
and titanium backup can't reinstall it, when i extract the .apk from the backup file and try manually installing, it doesn't install either, just says application not installed.
I also can't find this on Android market.
ok, so after some digging i found that com.sec.android.app.clockpackage.apk still existed in system/apps but just wasn't running. I also noticed for almost every .apk, there was a .odex. But for my clockpackage, there was no .odex, maybe that's why it's not working?
on that thought, maybe anyone here can copy their .odex files for the 2 clock .apks and send them to me? Just use Root Explorer to see the system/app folder, mount R/W if you need to, then copy the 2 .odex files and then upload them somewhere? Pls?!?
if you want root explorer, holla at me via pm
Hi,
I have the same problem with Contacts.apk (no .odex, Titanium or. RootExplorer can't install), so i can't open the number-pad to make a call.
I have tried to copy the backuped Contacts.apk manualy to /system/app, the rebooted, but it don't hlep.
Solved: I have Installed the VillainROM 1.0 and the app is back.
U tried reflashing your current rom??
Its the most clean solution... Because if you copy and paste from another device i'm sure about the system file its not going to work correctly(cache data from another device...mmm i think it will not work...)

anyone have this or can someone possibly point me in the right direction. i love the slate theme and I'm sad that 3.0 doesn't have it
The apk for the slate skin is actually on your memory card in a folder called "synergy" I believe you need root explorer (or some other file explorer able to access the data partition of your phone) to copy it to data/apps i think
I used synergy a long time ago and am kinda fuzzy on this, but i think you also have to edit its permissions to after you paste it. Hopefully someone else remembers the exact permissions
Permissions should be rw-r-r, same as all other permissions you'll see in system/app. You can long press on apk to set permissions.

I'm looking for either a flashable or installable apk for the modded HTCCamera with panorama support from the Virtuous ROM (not the apk from the MT4G Slide), that will work with stock Eu 1.35 ROM. Can anyone help me out?
Here you go!!! I hope it works for you..
Install fails, but thanx for the apk

Use root explorer to install it.
Copy/move apk file to system, change permissions to rw-r--r-- then move to the app folder .
reboot
Don't use root explorer. I use es file manager but can't set permissions with it. Could I fix permissions in recovery?

Do I have these steps right:
back up then delete original apk and odex files, copy new apk to /system/app, boot into recovery and fix permissions, then reboot?
Hi guys,
would anyone know why my Go Keyboard gets reset to the stock keyboard after every reboot? Im thinking maybe the app is stored in the wrong location or something.
After rebooting, I must always go into Settings to change it from stock to Go Keyboard. I prefer not having to do that
Thanks!!
I don't know about this problem, because I'm not using the Go keyboard but what you might try is to navigate to /data/app/ and look for the go keyboard apk.
Important:
Just to verify, for all that I'm saying right now you need to have root permission. So if you don't have root this won't be a solution for you. And backup the files, before modifying them!
Well, as I said, navigate to the path and copy the apk to system/app/ and rename the existing AxT9IME.apk to AxT9IME.apk.bak (for example) and rename the go keyboard apk to AxT9IME.apk .
So what you did was just renaming the go keyboard to the stock android keyboard. Hope this helps!
If don't, just delete the modifyed AxT9IME.apk and rename the AxT9IME.apk.bak to AxT9IME.apk .
U might just freeze all un used ime with Titanium bkup or rename the. Apk to sth else like above said

So i want to modify the stock AOSP android browser. (Using a galaxy Note 2).
I removed the original secbrowser.apk out of the sys/app folder and copied it to my pc. Rebooted phone.
On my pc, I just want to take an image file out out of the apk. I renamed the apk to a zip. Deleted the file (while still unpackaged) and then put the apk back on the phone. (Per instructions i read on here)
However, for the life of me I cant get it back into the sys/app folder. Permissions for the file are rw -r-r just as the original file.
The original file is able to be moved in and out of the sys/app folder without trouble. The new one however, not so lucky.
Am I completely missing something here?

Or try other (complicated but reliable) method.
Decompile with apktool.
Edit/Delete any PNG files.
Recompile by apktool.
Copy META-INF from original apk to new apk using 7zip.
Push and give permission 644(rw-r--r--).
Believe me I have done this hundreds of times. Not a single fail.
