If I had known I wouldn't be able to sync my Facebook contacts without this I wouldn't have removed it.. Can someone extract/upload the APK so that I can reinstall it without having to flash my DamageControl ROM all over again? I found an APK on another site but it doesn't seem to be working (v1.0, size is 160.73K)
Can someone please help?
*bump*
Am I really going to have to reflash the ROM?
you can easily extract the apk from the rom yourself; if you have the DC rom on your computer, just open it using winrar or some other program and go to system/app and find the app you need; then just push the app to your phone system/app
Thanks so much! I didn't know it would just be sitting in there in the zip ready for me to extract and install it! Your help is greatly appreciated
I don't have it on a computer, could someone post the apk for me?
Pretty please?
here you go
I'm new at all this stuff. Can you explain to me what to do after I download the HtcFacebook.apk. I saved it to my SD card and put the phone in recovery mode and tried to update it that way.
It's not working and I don't know what to do.
Like the previous poster I deleted HTC Facebook not realizing it would cause my contacts to not sync up with FB.
Thank you.

Push the file to /system/app using a root explorer (Root Explorer or ES File Explorer are best ones imo), then fix permissions & reboot

Make sure its permissions match other permissions in system/app. Should be rw-r-r.

i did the same thing with the deleting of the facebook sense and i have done everything on this thread but when i reboot in to recovery i do not see the "fix permissions" is that supposed to be in the root explorer or on the white screen, please help me im a noob
Having the same Problem on the Shadow Hawk Rom. Pushed htcfacebook.apk from saga rom to phone and fixed permissions. Looking good in Root explorer. But i cant add the htc facebook account. No contact pictures and updates in contacts
Maybe need the people.apk too?
update:
uninstalled original facebook app. now it looks fine. contacts + calender sync
I've had issues with Facebook for HTC before also. If you delete/re-add your facebook account in your "Accounts and Sync" it will repopulate your phone with facebook contacts.

Do you mean, copy & paste? Because a "push", in computer admin/network language is to write a script, so that when users login to their account, they have no choice than to accept a file or upgrade, (or what have you) that is being "pushed" upon them, by the network... Sorry to be splitting hairs, but it seems we're making things sound unnecessarily complicated (and inaccurate).

Good morning all,
I too was an idiot and deleted Facebook for htc sense, and so far none of the solutions have worked for me. I have a rooted evo (I used unrevoked), and using root explorer. I have downloaded the social app file, tried installing zip from sd card (recovery mode), moved the files to system/app and changed permissions, and then booted into recovery and fixed permissions there. When I go to accounts and sync it says com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. It is my assumption that somewhere in that jumble was a step missed, therefore I dig up this thread for assistance. As always any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Hello
I have a nexus one rooted with cm.6.00. Is there a way to change the boot animation? If so how can it he done and what is needed to do it?
Thanks in advance

I'm on the Droid, so not sure if it's the same... but I think it should be pretty similar.
The way I changed my bootup animation thingy, is downloaded the bootup from... some site. Can never remember the name of it. Mounted my Droid to the PC and moved the zip file to the root of the SD Card. Make sure it's named bootanimation.zip (not .zip.zip). Then use a root explorer application, and place it in the system/media folder. Overwrite the old one. I also replace the one in data/local. Not sure if it matters or not... but I do.
So that's what I did for mine. I have the aweseome Mario animation one. I love it.
Hope this helps.
Any chance you can give me a website link?

Having trouble getting this to work on Dell Streak. bootanimation.zip is read only and I can't seem to change permissions on the file. ???
Update++ Disregard. I installed a proper file editor with the ability to overwrite files (Super Manager) and presto. . . new animations!

So, I just flashed the serendipity 7 ROM to my phone today, I love it. It's fast and doesn't drain the battery. Infused seem to drain the battery quickly.
Anyway, the power button to take a picture seemed to work this morning, now it doesn't. Is there some way to get it working again? I have installed lots of apps, but I don't think any of them mess with the camera. I installed the samsung quick office, music, clock and video player. (I downloaded the 4, not sure if I installed all of them.) I used the Android Sideload Wonder Machine, not sure if that is the source of the problem or not. Any help would be appreciated.
The power button doesn't work to take pictures in S7. I remember reading this somewhere and can verify it didn't work for me after flashing S7. What I did to get it working is:
(FIRST, make a nandroid backup just in case!!)
1. Using your favorite file explorer (Root Explorer for me), go to the system/app folder on your phone
2. Mount the directory as R/W.
3. Rename the camera.apk in this folder to something like camera.apk.bak
4. Find a copy of the Infused v2 ROM, unzip it, go to system/app, and copy that camera.apk.
5. Go back to the system/app folder on your phone, make sure it's still mounted as R/W, and paste the Infused camera.apk into the directory.
6. Change the permissions on the camera.apk to match the permissions of the original camera.apk.
7. Next, mount the system/app folder on your phone as R/O.
8. You may have to delete and remake any shortcuts to the camera app you have on your home screens.
This worked for me and has worked perfectly all day, but I've only used it for a day. I won't swear that it won't mess something up in the future. I have taken approx. 10 photos since changing this with no problems, but you never know. Make a nandroid backup just in case, and save the camera.apk.bak in case it does FUBAR something.
PS: I wrote this as if you're a total noob. If you're not, I apologize. Wasn't trying to be condescending, just thorough. lol

How do I change the permissions?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
If you have root explorer just long press on the file. It should have an option for permissions. The folder that the app is in has to be mounted as R/W to be able to change the permissions. I don't know specifically how to do it in other file managers. If you don't have root explorer yet, it is definitely worth getting. It's the best file manager I've used.
The exact permissions you need to set are:
All 3 rows should have Read checked, only the "Owner" should have Write checked, and nobody should have Execute checked. Make sure the file is already pasted into the system/app folder before you try to change permissions.

Yes sir. Happy I could help.
Is it true you lose front camera functionality and HDMI out with S7? :S
Hey so I was hoping you could help me out. I had a bunch of stuff saved in my mini diary when I flashed 2.2 for Continuum. The new ROM didnt include this app and I lost it. I have the data saved with Titanium backup but it didnt save an apk.
If anyone has the apk that would be awesome.
download the EC07 Clean zip, unzip it and grab it out of there, along with any other stock app you need
Alright so I went out and got the apk from the EC07 clean however when I try installing it I get Application not installed.
I then tried putting it in system/apps which makes it show up however when I run the app it always force closes.
Help me out?
weird, ummmm, flash EC07-Clean? idk I've never used mini diary, just always deleted it first thing
You need to manually put it in /system/app of course, you need root for that

If its fc'ing on a manual push to system/apparel, id flash the clean Ron, back up the app with titanium backup, reflash Nickinson ember and restore. Just remember to wipe dalvik after each flash

Alright got it figured out. I noticed some of the permissions got changed when I copied it into system/app so I changed those and it now works! Thanks for the help everyone!
i'm having the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S2 for T-mobile. I tried both ways to restore it, via Titanium Backup and manually moving the APK file to system/app. i got the same "App not installed" message.
What exactly did you change on the permission? Did you change it in Super Manager? Can you post it step by step. How do you even change the permissions? Sorry, i'm a noob here.
Thanks for any help.
I used root explorer to push it into the system/app folder. Upon pushing the apk the permissions were rwxrwxrwx
Once the apk was in the folder I change the permissions to rwxr-xr-x or
Owner: read write execute
Group: read execute
Others: read execute
To change the permissions in Root Explorer you just push/hold the apk in the system/app folder and then select permissions.
hmmm...... i did exactly as you did. changed permission the same as you had it. still no luck. i even turned off phone and rebooted. Can anyone help?

system\customize\resource\bootanimation.zip It is not on the sd card. Use a file explorer like Root Explorer, Astro File Manager, or ES File Explorer to see and edit files in the system folder.
You're going to need a file manager that has root access. Astro File Manager does not. Root Explorer or ES File Explorer do. Use either of those to put the zip in the directory Agoattamer gave you. You may also need to change the permissions on the file. Not exactly sure if that's necessary or what exactly the permissions should be, but it's something to look at if the animation doesn't work.
I'll be damned. I use Root Explorer myself. By far the best and simplest in my opinion, although it is a paid app. And yes you have to tap on "mount R/W" to alter files in the System folder. I suspect in ES File Explorer (free) you have to do the same. Both require SuperUser.
But I always thought Astro File Manager was able to edit system files. If you do a web search there are so many websites and forum threads stating to use Astro to change permissions and edit system files. Wrong. Although it can see system files it can't mount the system folder as Writeable, only Readable. It does not ask for SuperUser permissions. Guess I will never install that app on a rooted phone.
Thanks sharksfan7 for pointing me straight.
Appreciate it guys!
