I have a new TF101 (since Dec14), only have ever rooted & have new CWM but have updated it to 8.5.6.21.
Since I have not had it for long, not sure what would be the real problem.
But ever since about a week ago, after I rooted, etc. I have been getting weird problems with trying to charge my tablet. Sometimes, I have to plug and unplug, or reboot, to get it to notice that it is in the AC power to start charging, there were also times where the battery was done to almost 0%.
Any thoughts or solution's, I do not know how I get it to work, I just try a bunch of stuff (reboot, unplug & plug AC adapter, wipe battery stats.
Stick your charger in a zip lock bag and into the freezer for 20mins. Seriously. It's a well documented issue with the charger on here.

it causes the metal in the solder joints to contract, and close up micro fractures in the joins temporarily, I have had to do it twice on mine, once a week after getting my tf in july, then again about a week and a half ago.

Problem Charging
There is a thermal heat fuse inside the wall charger and sometimes the fuse does not fully reset after being triggered. The charger is a bit on the small size for the job of charging the TF and keyboard and can get triggered frequently. It is a mechanical type fuse and the two metals inside the fuse need to come back together and make a good connection. By putting the charger in the freezer we force the metals to shrink and make a good connection. I urge you to read Devcake's post on making a DIY charger for the TF. I have made several and have had no further problems charging my TF.

I had a similar problem. I ended up unplugging it from the wall for a while, and tried again in a few hours, and it worked. It may be that it would have worked faster with the ziplock bag freezer trick, but I don't know.
Another question on this topic: some similar threads suggested using removing the US wall prong piece from the adapter, and bending the connectoin pins slightly. For the life of me I couldn't get it to come off! Am I doing something wrong, or could it be glued/permanently attached?
I've seen images like this one that do suggest it comes off...

By the way, I plugged in my slacker music player into this, that was how I caused it.
Also make sure its the original charger the tf101 has a 15volt frequency and most cellphones or smartphones use a 5volt

Just got the battery warning so I plugged it in and to my surprise nothing happened ... checked the plug, restarted.. it just won't charge . When I turn screen off and plug it in the screen turns on but it doesn't charge .. is it busted?

Are you plugged into a wall socket? If you are trying to charge through USB from a computer, it won't charge unless in sleep mode. Even then it will charge slowly.

this will sounds bad but.... check the usb connection to the plug, as the way its made you can actully push the usb into the plug the wrong way around....

Just got it from Amazon and I have the same issue and still not able to figure out how to fix it. My Transformer is lying there without charging. Planning to return it to Amazon.
Right I just got mine working... try this pull the plug apart and put it back together now squueze them together as tight as you can and try that. Its working for me now ..

It just doesn't work. How is the usb cable connected to your adapter? It just gets in both ways.

its only suppose to go in one way, just like conncting any USB devices. But tried that, dissemble the adaptor and put them together, it actually happened to me once too, did exactly that and everything fixed. Remember you gotta squeeze pretty hard to put the two pieces together.

I suggest you dont even use it, its dangerous. Mine melted the first day I got it. I went to bestbuy and got a replacement that works great. It charges at 11 volts/1.5 amps

This seriously works?
I just hope the voltage is right... I've tried different adapters for my phone and then my phone started acting weird (like it didn't take calls and would freeze at times). Replaced the adapter and it returned to normal again.
My TF adapter also gets really hot when charging.

I put some petroleum jelly on the metal prongs and smashed it on the counter a few times AFTER snapping it in.
Unfortunately I did them at the same time and didn't test in between so i don't know which if either or possibly both fixed it but mine is finally ****ing charging.
What a headache. I'm really bothered by ASUS for issuing such a faulty component.
I'm probably going to pick up that dynex tomorrow, because I just KNOW this will break again and mysteriously lodge itself into my drywall.
I just had the problem and discovered that the 5 forward pins on the power adapter are apparently quite easily deformed.
The charger is dual output, 5v and 15v.They use a USB3 connector, with the 15v quick charge output on those pins. I expect that they use the old USB 2 pins behind them to supply 5v for a slow charge, and PC data/charge connection.
Just prior to this, I had tried using an extension USB3 cable on it, so that I could use it while charging, and I suspect that was just enough to deform a couple of the 5 pins in the charger, and I got no charge at all from it, even after putting it back to normal. After an hour, the charger was still cold, and no indication of charging on either the tablet or with the table and keyboard attached.
With a good light and strong magnifier, I could see that a couple of the pins (of the 5 in the front) looked a bit recessed compared to the others, and carefully used the tip of a very fine needle to lift all of them just slightly. Having done that, the charger came to life when I plugged it back in, and the TF is indicating that it is charging.
I don't know how solid or permanent the fix will be, but it is working for me now.
Well ladies and gents, I think either my eee pad has been sucked dry or the charger fried, or both. I went to turn on my pad and found out that both the dock and tablet were at 0%.
I plugged it in got it booted and after an hour, the orange light on the side of the dock stopped blinking and stayed orange, as if it were charging, but the pad still showed at 0% for both pieces. I unplugged the charger to find it was so hot it was almost untouchable and as soon as I unplugged, the tab shut down. Also the dock was not usable to type while plugged in. Am I screwed with this piece?

lol really? put it in the freezer? Hey test the usb cable first by connecting it to the computer and see if you get a response. If so for the most part you have like a 90% chance its not the cable. More then likely the adapter is messed up as stated above. The AC plug itself is detachable, its hard to get off but it comes off. You will see its two pieces one big piece and a slimmer piece. Dont rember witch direction it SLIDES off but it comes off. Just check around it and make sure its not blocked or anything. But yea might have to get a new one.

Really. There is a heat sensor in the charging cube that disengages the link in case of overheat. Zip lock bag is there to keep out moisture.
Crazy. I unplugged the charger, let it sit. Plugged it in 20 mins later and all of a sudden my tablet has 60%. This thing is weird. Gonna have to teat more thoroughly ans possibly get a new charger

Good. Just remember. If this happens again but next time the safety won't just disengage, then throw it in the freezer like I instructed.

Then of course chances are you won't do this. Most people are not modders because they are too afraid to do anything out of the ordinary. This is why the ipad is so popular. Anyway, if this is your case, then I guess the alternative is to get a new charger.
I just want you to know that i tried Goodintention's advice and it worked for me. That being said, do not wait to get a charger replacement by following DevCake's thread on how to make up your own charger for the TF. Once these chargers start going bad the only way is downhill.
My second charger died yesterday and I am following Devcake's advice.

a few days back my phone started to charge slower and gradually it stopped charging at times. It only charged if i moved/bent it or keep it supported on some object.
It worked fine with Nokia Lumia800 cable so i bought a new cable today but have the same problems.What can be the problem here ?
Try sharpening a toothpick so it will fit in your phone's usb slot, then gently move it around in there and scrape out anything that could be in there. Over time dust and lint will accumulate in there which could cause a poor connection, which could in turn cause charging problems. Just be very careful so that you don't break anything. The nokia cable might be slightly different and that's why it would work and the other's wouldn't.
If you have an air compressor I would use that or some type of high out put air and blow inside the input for the charger

It's also possible that something has cracked. In that case, from now on be very careful when inserting/removing the cable. You may need to apply gentle pressure on the cabke in 1 direction during charging.

The tablet needs a new charging/interface port and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get one?
I have searched Ebay and the net for a used/new one. The port looks fine but when plugging the cable in it won't charge. Sometimes I can get it to if I push and hold it just right however this is tricky to do and does not work often. So right now it is a dead brick. The pins must not be making full contact for some reason.
Ive bought parts from these guys before, I don't see a charging port but might be worth giving them an email and asking

Thanks but I would rather not have to order parts from Sweden. If I have to I'll just keep watching Ebay. Every so often one pops up but doesn't last very long.

Just installed a new (used off Ebay) charging port with fingers crossed that it will allow the tablet to charge. I also have a new high quality charging cord (PWR+) and two ASUS wall chargers that I know work. Plugged the tablet in and was relieved to see the tablet come right on and show it charging. Let it charge to about 20% and then decided to unplug it so I could put the ring back on the tablet so it is all back together. Get the ring on and plug the tablet back in and nothing. I'm about to throw this thing in the trash right now. So fed up with these charging issues. What changed? All I did was unplug it, put the ring on, and plug back in.
So for kicks I decide to try the other wall charger and what do you know....it came on immediately and started charging and is still charging. I'm afraid to touch the thing now. Seems once it is charging and undisturbed it will charge to 100% no problem. However, when going to recharge it won't charge. Could there be something in the charging mechanism causing the thermal to trip in the wall chargers? Is there possibly a small short somewhere in the charging mechanism? Anyone have an opinion on why this is happening? Only other thing I can think of is doing a full wipe/reset and maybe flashing another rom (is currently on newest Android Revolution HD) once it is charged up.
Could the ring (I assume you mean Bezel ? ) or the screws near the port be shorting the charging port to earth/ground/chassis ?

Yep.. Sry.. The bezel. Not sure how but anything is possible. Would indicate to me a faulty charging port or charger cord and is happening on multiple. Tablet is still allowing me to charge it at this time after switching chargers and with the bezel on so will have to see how it goes.

Fingers crossed it was a coincidence with the first charger, if not, I'd try taking the bezel off again and see if you can spot the short / see if it works again with the bezel off, or even just with the screws out
Hi I bought 2 keyboard folio from eBay brand new but it is like it haves a faulty battery. When I try to pair it with the tablet through NFC I press yes on the "do you want to pair the Nexus keyboard" but after some seconds it fails. But when I put the keyboard to charge it works. After I pair the devices and use the keyboard when I unplug it it stops working straight away. So I was wondering if this happened to anyone else and if it is any key combinations to hard reset the keyboard or something like that?

I opened the keyboard and the battery seems to be dead because I tried to charge it with another charger and nothing was happening. On the keyboard I put another battery 400mah but still wasn't charging so I thing the board is faulty too. I will take a picture of the battery and upload it because I tried to find one but I couldn't.

I was considering buying a simple small portable battery charger 1500-2200-4000~ and using it, but it would discharge too quickly, attempting to charge the faulty one in the folio. Also considered taking the folio battery/charging component and splicing in portable battery charger..
Another option I thought of, is using a male to male micro usb cable from the Nexus 9 to the folio.
I am using a generic micro usb charger works fine. I also bought a male to male micro usb cable attached to the Nexus 9 and folio, also works great. The keyboard hardly registers drawing any power.
Sorry for the late reply. That's the original battery of the keyboard which i tried to find but couldn't. The hard part is that it needs to be 1.5mm to 2mm of thickness Max so the keyboard top part can close normally. The other pictures is the modification I made replacing the battery but with a thicker one. It wasn't charging so that's why I came to the conclusion that it must be the board too that it is faulty. I connect the - and + cables from the charger to the exposed cables to charge the battery and that's it.

NO. The battery too is faulty. Because I connect it straight to the charger and it doesn't charge.

Hey... Just bought a brand new one with the same issue straight out of the box.
Have you tried measuring the original battery with a multimeter?
The battery protection circuits will sometimes protect the battery from undervoltage by not letting them charge any more as it potentially damages them...
One way to attempt to recover the batteries is to remove the protection PCB and charge them with a LiPo charger at super low amps till they get up to like 3.3v then letting the original charger and battery protection finish charging it... (Kinda dangerous if battery really is damaged)
These things sat on shelves for years.... I can't imagine the batteries didn't drain.
Edit: did you take the keyboard apart??? Lol... Is it glued together??
I took mine apart... This is not a reversible process lol... Checked battery voltage and sure enough... 0 volts.... There's no Li-Ion charger that will ever try to charge that battery as there is a risk of fire.
Looks like HTC cheaped out on the battery protection circuit and it didn't cut off the battery below 3.3v and let it get to 0v... Gonna have to try to recover the battery using my lab power supply to trickle charge it... My lipo charger complains and won't charge it at all.

The solution is easy.
I have effected this repair on multiples of the nexus 9 folio keyboard.
Someone said earlier that the charging circuit is bad in addition to the cell being at 0v. This is simply not true. For the charging circuit and the cell to both be bad you will have likely hit the lottery in a bad way, or shorted and caused damage yourself.
Truth is that as mentioned before their protection circuit on their $130 keyboard was not up to the task. I make the assumption also that they overpriced these so heavily they sat until their hardware choices became apparent by making them DOA after the cell's voltage fell too low.
Someone stated that opening the keyboard is irreversible, this is also untrue, it only requires a bit of skill and patience.
Take it for what it is, because I would never recommend someone to revive a cell that had been sitting below 3.2v, it's just unsafe, but this is what worked for me as I didn't feel like digging through china stock to find a matching cell.
The cell is at 0v, so the fix is simple, connect another similar chemistry (3.2v-4.2v) cell in parallel (between the protection circuit and the cell.) I just used and 18650 from a laptop battery. Let's call this a "jump start." Start the charging and disconnect the second cell. Red charge LED should remain solid and charge cell 1 to 4.2v and you are good to go.
As far as the details, we know that the cell is on the left side, so only heat and slice adhesive from just beyond the corner to the center, slide your tool under the cell to remove the adhesion from the main body and carefully slip the cell out far enough to get at the contacts in order to get between the protection circuit and the cell.

1 DO NOT PUNCTURE THE CELL (ALUMINUM TEARS EASILY)
2 DO NOT DAMAGE THE RED AND BLACK LEADS FROM THE PROTECTION CIRCUIT TO THE MAIN BOARD
3 DO NOT PRY OPEN THE OUTSIDE CORNER NEXT TO THE CELL AS THIS CORNER IS MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DEFORMATION THAN OTHER AREAS
Probably best left to a skilled tech, but it can certainly be done.
The adhesive htc uses is much like hot glue, so after scraping the old glue out reseal and press with a hot glue gun (precision tip recommended,) easy peasy.
On a final note, shame on you htc (and google.)

The folio battery has a USB jack at one end and a switch (on/off perhaps) and a blue light at the other. What's happening when the blue light blinks?

i meant if i take the keyboard apart.
I ordered another on off ebay, but i used the suggestion i thiunk i saw on here. I have a microusb OTG plugged into the nexus 9 and running a usb to the keyboard. it is supplying enough power to run he keyboard. also it does not seem top drain much power at all.
I'm typing this message on the folio keyboard. if the other keyboard folio has the same issue then i can at lease use this solution to use the folio.
now i need to order a shorter usb to microusb cord so i dont have to rubber band the cord and look sloppy when carrying it around

That is paring mode if in not mistaken.
Nah, it's definitely a charging light. Doesn't blink when pairing but does when a USB charging lead is plugged in. Goes off after a couple of minutes, which confirms what we all know: the keyboard doesn't/won't charge.
Picked up one of these new from Ebay. It doesn't seem to want to charge and will only work when plugged in with charger. Anyway to get it working? Guess it's a return
