Hey people at XDA forums!
I am very new here and I need help with flashing my Samsung Galaxy Fit.
I have already rooted it, using SuperOneclick Root and I used rootchecker to see if it's rooted and it is confirmed.
I have seen the guide on XDA forums, though it is very simple and to the majority of you guys seems easy; it's greek to me.
The web link is right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383409
So I'll go through the steps and point out the stuff I'm clueless about.
"1. Download and install XXKPL Firmware."
Okay.... So wat does the XXKPL mean? I've got Samsung Kies software and it says I have latest software with this mumbo jumbo.
PDA:KQ4/PHONE:KQ2/CSC:KQ2 (VAU)
Does the XXKPL thing stand for the latest firmware or is this something else I'm missing?
And after that, it tells me to download some file through ODin, now this is the part which gets me fuming.
"2. Download and install ClockworkMod Recovery using Odin."
I see in all the guides, "Use Odin", "Use Odin' SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT GEE
So yea, I've downloaded the latest Odin Multidownloader v4.38 and I don't know how to use it, I haven't found any guides or anything. Select OPS? It doesn't even have a download button. I sound like a complete noob right now, but can someone who has already done this tell me exactly how and wat to exactly download?
Phew...
The next few steps are okay, such as downloading files and saving to my SD card:
"3. Download ChocobreadROM from mirror 1, mirror 2 and save to your SDcard."
"4. Once you are in recovery mode you will get lot of options on screen. In recovery mode touchscreen does not work, so use the Volume button to toggle through options, Home button to select option or confirm action, and Power or Back button to go back to the previous menu."
So, what does recovery mode mean? And how do I access it?
"5. Select 'wipe data / reset'. Confirm action"
Yep,
and the rest is extremely easy to do
So yea guys, can you professional phone hackers help an utterly useless noob out here?

1.As Kies is showing KQ2, it means u have android gingerbread 2.3.4 already installed. While XXKPL is also 2.3.4 but its an European Firmware.
2. For installing CWM you need odin (which u already have), u would have received a.ops file. , place this file in ops tab, then check one package option and choose the .tar file and attach your phone in download mode. Its done !
3. chocobread is a custom ROM for galaxy fit. Custom so because ithas been made by someone. It has some modifications etc. For list of all custom ROM visit this link <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339196>
4.Press the power button and the middle home button together, you'll enter the recovery mode. In this mode touch screen doesnt work so use the volume keys to navigate up and down and home button to select.
5. In the same recovery menu u'll find an option to wipe data/cache. (BEWARE doing a factory reset will remove all your installed apps...)
Hope you have got what you wanted....
Whatever is posted above is correct (worked for me atleast ) but dude make sure your battery is compelely charged before flashing...just to be on the safer side

I'm new with android.
I like to try it and put my Apple days behind me.
Never had a problem with 'rooting' it. But it’s time for something new.
I bought a Samsung TaB2 10.1 GT-P5110
After reading ( a lot ) on forums and google-ing youtube walkthroughs, I wanted to start the rooting process.
First problem ... the tablet is new but already updated to 4.0.4.
I don’t think I can undo that :-/
So I used Odin3-v1.85_3.zip and the file "GT-P5110_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4.tar"
All went fine but then i had to root it.
Getting into "download mode" wasn’t easy.
I think my mistake was that I have to do this immediately after I used ODIN and rebooted the tablet.
But l’ll try that later.
The real problem is that I don’t have the choice in the menu "install zip from" sdcard
im reading the toppic "[How To] ROOT- Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 [GT-P5113 / 5100 / 5110 & 4.0.4 UPGRADE or OEM".
The menu i get :
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume uo/down to move highlight:
power button to select
reboot system now
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
This is NOT the CWM menu
I can see the external drive and can click on the file CWM-root-gtab2a.zip if i use "apply update from external storage" but it gives an error.
There is a link with "workaround at post 325. " but i dont know what to do.
The "workaround" is not for newbies i gues ?
ok.i read someware that the "Android system recovery <3e>" is not the CWM menu
Originally Posted by notoriousB

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Now i can update the "CWM-root-gtab2a.zip" file.
Next step would be => go to CWM => backup BEFORE you chance anything.
I can only go in the CWM menu if i do ALL the steps again.
Gonna try this this evening.
Thanx in advance
rooting help
Okay, Im not an expert, but I've rooted several android devices before. Some steps that i go through to make sure that everything will go smoothly are:
0. Check the forums first with a search to see if the topic hasn't been answered before. READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. Most mistakes are usually user error. If you don't understand what you are doing, maybe you shouldn't doing it. Or you need to read up on it more.
1. Make sure that i have the absolutely appropriate packages to do what i intend to.
2. Make sure my Samsung drivers are up to date. You can install them with Kies or install them separately link in a development topic about rooting and so.
3. Download mode is accessed by powering off the tablet and holding volume down and the power button. Connect your tablet after you've set up the basics (pda file is correct for rooting, recovery, etc)
4. Go over everything and look for the right signs fora completed operation (PASS!, GOOD!, etc.)
5. Recovery mode is accessed by powering off the tablet and holding volume up and the power button. If you don't see the gear and top hat, chances are that you don't have the clockworkmod recovery successfully flashed. Try it again and if it still doesn't work, be as clear as you can with your next post why it doesn't.
I've the same model p5110 with 4.0.3 ICS build WALD2 and I've rooted and flash several times from stock to Rom to stock again. It's never easy the first time, but you'll get the hang of it soon.:good:
I am working on this just like you. I have rooted my phone but trying to root my p5113. The menu you are getting is the android stock recovery menu. When you reboot after rooting you cannot allow to boot up all the way or it will overwrite the cwm recover. So while you are rooting and it reboots, quickly unplug it and hold the power and left/volumn down key. That should do the trick
Yep,
Got it working.
Can manualy instal progs.
But im not sure im going keep this tablet yet.
Its a verry good tablet but,... maybe its because im an iphone user, and im used to cydia..
Keeping it for at least 1 month more before i decide.
Strange ,... there is no tomtom or garmin gps program ?
Are you guys using CyanogenMod ?
Dont see the point yet for using it.
Its fun using android do (boys and there toys ;-o )
a while later...

I have an earlier thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107600 but that is now buried on page 2 and might be missed by new readers. After a disastrous time trying to root my Galaxy Tab 5100 I did manage with the help of people here to flash the recommended stock ROM - however while the tablet goes through its boot sequenece with the aminated Samsung sign - it sticks when it gets to the plain Samsung logo and wont go further.
Odin reported that it installed OK and the tab rebooted as it should but only this far - not sure what I should try next to get my stock Samsung image back and working. One thing I didn't do was to tick repartition because the instructions only said to do this when a certain type of file was included in the package, and it wasn't. Should I have ticked this after all, if so I can try the same thing again if I can force it back into download mode again. (though as the yellow pane still shows in odin when connected I wonder if I can just go ahead anyway)
I have also been looking for rooting software and came across this
http://root-android.org/?version=Tablet&country=Samsung&ios=Galaxy+Tab+2&submit.x=63&submit.y=104
I am wondering if next time (assuming I ever get it working!) I would be better shelling out $30 and getting software to do it all for me - is this any good? has anyone used it or had reports about it? I wish I had seen this before I read "that it was almost impossible to brick the tab 2"
Also I would like to have root access on my S3 as well but wouldn't dream of risking this I don't think now

Have you tried a factory reset from recovery? If you've restored the stock ROM, then all you need to do is the factory reset to get things working again. Don't repartition unless you really need to.

I can't see any reason you should spend that kind of money given how easy the CF-AutoRoot is. In fact, that product looks very shady to me. "Root Any Android Device"? Well, there's lots of devices out there that nobody's been able to root, or devices that take a lot of work. I can't believe there's a single app that'll work across every Android device with a single click.
Be careful, which stock ROM have you flashed? I would use this sequence
flash the stock ROM
then immediately
flash CWM recovery, use CWM recovery to wipe the data (wipe data/factory reset).
Then reboot
CWM ?

Well I followed one of the posted routes on this forum, downloading from a list of recommended files for each version, and it mentioned nothing about CWM which I know nothing about. I have to say that everyone's definition of "easy" on here - I find complicated and difficult - I know my way around windows but android seems much more complex. The only reason I wanted to have root in the first place was to be able to make a complete image back up that would make it easy to restore my device without having to re-download all my software and set up. I do it with windows all the time. To me "easy" is, download and install something - click go - done! Even getting the device to go into download mode in the first place is a very hit and miss affair (as others say on here too) clearly Samsung don't want you to do this.
The other problem is that while the tablet is in this state it wont turn off, just reboots itself when you do and the screen stays on - so unless you leave it plugged in 24/7 - I start each time with a flat battery that I have to recharge before I can try something else
This is the route I followed

I got this through earlier posts - the only thing I didn't do was to go into recovery and reset in step 2 because this simply wasn't possible - the device was stuck on the error message and no amount of button pressing did anything other than restart to the same screen. By this stage I couldn't even go back to check what version of android I was running - it would have been the latest jelly bean distributed to UK.
I also didn't check re-partition as in 6. because there was no pit file in the download

Help please - this is where I am at the moment - some SIMPLE help needed please
I tried to install what I thought was the stock ROM - it appeared to install but wouldnt boot past the samsung screen. I now realise (a) that I may not have followed the full correct procedure and (b) may have downloaded the 5110 rom instead of the 5100 rom - silly mistake I know.
However reading all the guides I can find there doesnt seem to be a simple way I can find of restoring the standard un-rooted rom so that I can go back and try again. All of the things I can find seem to included downloading something onto the external card but cant do that as I cannot access it and don't have an external card reader.
What I can do now is
boot into download mode
connect to ODIN and see the yellow block
It will not boot normally past the samsung splash screen
and cannot connect to KIES in any mode (I do have the drivers installed and have connected before)
I also have no idea now what is installed on it because I cant get to the system to see!
Is there an easy way to install a stock samsung rom from this point? I don't mind if data is lost, I have nothing important on there and wouldnt mind re-installing apps as I had accumulated far too many anway - really I just want to get my tablet back the way it was from the factory but with the 4.2 jelly bean installed (though if it went back to an earlier version and I could update in Kies that would be ok too)
Can anyone give me simple instructions for doing this using just ODIN and my computer without involving the external card - please.
After that I will be looking for an equally easy way to root it again
I will credit you with a good answer if you can help -as well as appreciating it.

What you need to do is to download the stock ROM for your 5100.
Go to www.samfirmware.com and put "GT-5100" into the search box. You'll see a list of the stock firmware for your device. Pick the appropriate firmware for your country and click "download".
Start up ODIN. Click on the "PDA" button and open the firmware file you downloaded above.
Restart in downloader mode (power and volume up), and connect the tablet to your PC. ODIN should now show the device.
Make sure repartition is not checked, and click on "Start". When it finishes, you now have stock firmware installed.
Power off, then restart in recovery mode. (Hold power and volume down.)
Choose "wipe data/factory reset" by using the volume keys to move the highlight, then pressing the power button to select an entry.
Once it's finished booting, you should be back to normal.
Thanks K1MU for this information which at least looks clear - the only problem I have is when I put in the model etc when I get to country it offers me only 3 choices
UK (BTU) GB (O2) or GB (vodafaone)
My phone was purchased from Amazon and is unlocked so I am worried if these might lock me to a carrier which I wouldn't want
I wonder if BTU is the unlocked one as it doesn't sound like any provider I know - but I am not sure
will post on their forum as well
I think I am getting more and more muddled by the minute (sign of old age I fear) I realise now that I have a p5110 - wifi only and not p5100 3g and wifi.
This means in all probablilty I downloaded the correct rom in the first place. As I had not done the factory reset afterwards so tried that - it appeared to work ok but when I restarted it just played the samsung tune and moving image - then went to "Samsung" and stuck there as it was before.
I am downloading the p5110 wifi only rom from Sam's site - awful download programme they use which doesn't accept paypal even to sign up for faster downloading - I will then try following exactly what you have suggested and keep my fingers crossed
thank you

Although I thought it had got nowhere after wipe restore - when I turned it back the next day I arrived at the start up guide - admitedly it was 4.0.3 and in Portugese but after exploring settings and working out what to click i got it back to uk english - it has now connected to kies ok and is currently downloading the latest firmware - thanks partcularly to the last poster and to all others who helped - I will go through and thank you others too,
Point is now - once I have jelly bean can I get root access easily -without installing another custom rom - ahh well tomorrows problem
Okay so I've been at it for days and i mean like months.... when I first bought my 8 gb white Samsung galaxy tab 3 Kernel 3.4.5, android 4.1.2, model JZ054K.T210RUEAMK1 and all i have been running into is problems, like jittery display issues, or flickering display, I tried every method but none has worked but i finally found one and got it all working and running, First of all i would like to thank gr8nole for this method, and all who have helped him. So first let me explain the most easiest explanation for dummies like me, or noobs
Just and example video for visual learners http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XolmtyvS3Yk&feature=youtu.be, but you want to click on the files i suggested on the bottom lol not what he has on his screen xD
Must Have: KIES, make sure you have fully updated rom from samsung themself which can be found on kies when you plug it in and update firmware, which your android should be on 4.1.2 and version because that's what i have
1. First lets Get all the files we need, First go download SM-T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip at his xda post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433853, after you have download that you will a friend name odin, which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539 (With odin you only want to use v3.07) and nothing else , Last but not least you want this file from gr8ole android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip and save that to your sd card or ext while click on usb debugging or w.e you wanna store in on tablet
so you should have odin 3.07
T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip
android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip
2. Use the same method as g8nole and minor adjustments
Instructions:
1. Download ODIN on your computer (just do a google search to find it...version 3.07 will work fine). http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2189539
2. Power off the device.
3. Restart in "Download Mode" by holding the "HOME" button, "Volume Down" and "Power" all at the same time (for about 5 seconds).
4. Hit the "Volume Up" to enter download mode.
5. Start the ODIN exe program using admin rights which means right click run as admin. I recommend un-checking Auto Reboot. DO NOT CHECK RE-PARTITION LEAVE UNCHECKED YOU BEEN WARNED (which it already should be). See notes about ODIN below.
6. Connect the device via USB to your computer. Verify the device shows as "Added" in the Message box. If it doesn't show then you need the Samsung USB drivers (just install KIES to get them) which can be found here http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/.
7. Select "PDA" then choose the T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip.
8. Hit "START"
9. Wait for device to restart. Which means wait til odin says OKAY in the white box and the Picture ask you to reset, When the download icon under download updates is full bar, and odin says reset!, just unplug it. then restart by holding the power button down, with vol up, and home, once the samsung picture shows, only hold the up vol button, recovery mode should now be on. Select install zip, and locate the android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip)navigate with the up down volume button and power button to select) file, whichever you placed in sd, or exsd,
10. When all is done reboot device, then it will update your android once you turn it on, Now the anoying part, It will be rooted but what google play won't connect?, easy fix , first lets just update all the binaries since its already rooted in supersu app,
Google Store Fix, now first you have to delete your some things, your apps wont dissapear or nothing as long as you dont uinstall them, go to settings<application manager<all<google play store<clear data/cache w.e<force stop<uninstall updates<it will then ask you it will be factory installed<yes, next step, delete your gmail account if you haven't done so, now go to your time settings (Date and Time) and change it to recent date whichever today is , then open play store and it will ask you to sign in again, blah blah google needs sign up and it should be up and running
ALL DONE, remember this is for people who have run into flicker display problems, which is caused by kernal issue with our model, but with stock rom itself we can universally root it through odin with just that simple method which took me like 3 mins lol to do
Grats guys! you have root and cwm now who doesn't want that enjoy and thanks to developers hard work! and my ambition!
this worked for my SM-T210 also. Thanks heaps for this how-to!
Ok my device is already rooted but I would like to install CWM Recovery on it. So I can make a backup. Or does anyone have the stock kernel for it
Sent from my SM-T210 using xda app-developers app
Odin 3.07
Link was busted so I posted a new one for lazy people.

But you can also use Odin 3.09.
I'm portant is that you flash always the newest CWM / TWRP or PhilzTouch Version about the new updater scripts.

Your best option is to get CWM sknce it will be your original backup instead of a Rom created from another device.
SM-T2105?
Hello,
I came here beacause of a shorcut link given by @gr8nole and another member (I forgot sorry).
But my English must be to bad, i read and re-read, still don't find the answer...
I have the G Tab 3 kids model, SM-T2105.
@bierma32 says: "Important is that you flash always the newest CWM / TWRP or PhilzTouch Version"
Could you tell me wich one is the best, CMW or TWRP, plz? (the last I can find for T210 is CMW-6.0.4.9 and/or TWRP-2.8.2.0)
More important, do you know where I can find the zip of a rooted stock rom, including that 'kids' stuff? (SM-T2105). Or will I not loose the stock rom? Is there no wipe? Sorry, I don't understand.
I want to root, because of lack of space, and the rest.. but I don't want to loose that..
And the most important, "last but not least", I could not find the zip " android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip", so can you help me please, putting a mirror or so? Or could it work only with flashing a SuperSU zip? Not so easy, right?
As you maybe can read, I am a newbie in Android rooting. Or is there another way to do?
Thanks for reply.
Hello everyone,
I got Atrix 2 from my friend. I really like the phone except few things:
1. I can't arrange the icons manually.
2. Mine is Indian version mobile & it doesn't support any Call Recorder. I can install the recording app, but it is not working.
3. There is no bubble type notification for any app like - WhatsApp, Gmail, Facebook etc.
4. There is no quick access Icons in notification area for Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Wi-Fi etc like Samsung.
This is my first Android phone so I don't know anything about CFW & how to install in my phone.
Anyone please help me to install CFW step by step
I'm Running Android 4.0.4 Official Firmware.
When I Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons, a black screen appears says:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
0A.73
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
When I Press and hold both Volume Up & Down + Power, a black screen appears says:
Boot Mode Selection Menu (0A.73)
Vol Up Selects, Vol Down Scrolls
Available Boot Modes:
Normal Powerup
Recovery
AP Fastboot
BP Tools
When I select Recovery, First show the Moto Emblem & then stuck with logo with triangle exclamation .
When I select Fastboot & BP Tools, my boot as normal.
1. What is Recovery Mode? How to install this?
2. What is ROOT? How to ROOT?
3. Which one do first - Install Recovery Mode or ROOT?
4. If I need to install CFW, do I need to copy all the files in Memory card or use RSD (I seen one video in youtube)?
SEEN LOTS OF POSTS SAYING 'HOW TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS' & I MORE CONFUSED WITH Recovery Mode, ROOT, RDS.
IF THERE IS A DOWNLOAD LINK, IT'S OK. BUT PLEASE DON'T GIVE LINK TO 'FOLLOW THIS'!!!

If this is your first android then you're going about it all wrong. It is highly recommended that you take the time to read about what you're doing and what you need to do to get to where you want to be with this phone. I'm strongly opposed to reiterating step by step directions because I feel it leads to trouble for new users that, too quickly, get in over their heads without the necessary knowledge to get themselves out of trouble but I'll help you with some general info to get you started.
The very first thing you should do is find out which FXZ (stock firmware) is the correct one for your specific phone. Then you'll need to download RSD lite and familiarize yourself with how to use it for flashing the stock firmware. If/when it becomes necessary to use these tools you'll be glad that you took the time to learn rather than searching and posting frantically to figure out how to recover a soft brick.
Stock recovery is useless for what you're trying to accomplish.
There are multiple root methods available and can be found in both the general section as well as the development section. After you get rooted you'll need to download and install Boot Menu Manager (aka BMM) in order to install custom ROMs. There are tutorials on how to install and use BMM in the general section.
The most important tool you can have at this stage is patience. Take the time to educate yourself and you won't be sorry. Good luck and welcome to the community.
Thank you 1BadWolf.
I don't know which FXZ (stock firmware) is the correct for my phone.
This is my phone datails
Can u tell me which FW is that & download link?
Before flashing with the stock firmware, I need to backup all my data. How do I do that?

At the top of your screenshot you'll see the system version as
672.1.18.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
Go to this page:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=17
And find the corresponding firmware that will say
Blur_Version.672.1.18.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
That's the one you need.
I'd say that once you download that and RSD lite then familiarize yourself with what to do with it via:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909319
then you be safe to go ahead and root it. You'll need root to get a good backup of everything anyway. The main thing is learning to recover from a soft brick before it happens. That thread has all the info you need for that.

That's it. Just root and install BMM then you'll be ready to go. After that comes the hard part.... deciding which of the awesome ROMs to install, hahaha. :sly:
I rooted my phone with these downloaded tools.
And installed almost 4.4.4 CFW without any brick & errors.
I like LiquidSmooth 4.4.4.

<GUIDE><TOOLS> Verizon S6 Stock Restore Files<ODIN><SmartSwitch>
I will not be updating this thread any further. I no longer own the device.
Here is a link to the stock Verizon tar file to flash in download mode via Odin. I will add more files as they become available. Use this to return to factory stock if a factory reset dose not solve any problems you may have with your retail Verizon S6. If you find these files useful and download them please hit the thanks button. Do not copy these files and repost them, make a link to this thread instead. If I missed anything in the instructions please let me know and I will update the OP. Thanks and enjoy.
Install Instructions1: Download Odin and Verizon S6 Retail Tar from the links below. Then extract the Odin.zip file ..
2: Run Odin and pick the AP button then navigate to where you saved the file you want to flash and chose that file. Let Odin verify the file.
3: Turn off your phone and enter download mode by holding the home, volume down and the power buttons until the enter download mode screen appears. Then enter download mode by letting go of the buttons and then press the volume up key.
4: Now you should be in download mode, connect your phone to your PC now. Odin should say connected in the message box, if not you need to install your Samsung phone drivers.
5: After connecting your phone and loading the tar file select the Start button and let Odin do it's job. This will take about 5 to to 10 minutes to complete. Please be patient and do not disconnect your phone until the phone reboots and the word Pass appears in the upper left corner of Odin.
6: That's it, you should now be in the phone setup screen with the words Pass in Odin if all went well.
If you get stuck in a bootloop after flashing a tar file don't panic. Enter the maintenance menu by holding the volume down, home and power keys for about 10 seconds. Then clear cache and factory data reset.
Firmware Flashing
1: Using flashfire wipe and then flash the ROM you are switching to that is of a different build. OE2 to OC3 for an example. You wikll most likely get stuck at the Samsung lockscreen when the phone reboots.
2: Don't panic just reboot into download mode and flash the proper firmware with Odin by holding down the home, volume down and power buttons for about 10 seconds. Select reboot and use the same button combo to enter download mode.

Is it possible to remove bloatware via this? May be a stupid question but I recall in the past of people having modded restore files such as this which did not contain bloatware or for instance even contained root. Possibilities of this? Also thanks for the thread!

No, we can not do that without root. If the stock image is modified in any way it breaks the signature and fails to boot. Thank the locked bootloader and Verizon for that but we can disable the apps witch is nearly as good.

Yes, you just need to build a ROM with Kitchen and you will have the csc folder after you do that.

Good to see you around too. I got the g920v. I ditched my DevEd Note 4 for the rootless S6 because I like it that much. The hardware is pretty amazing. Plus I wanted to step away from ROM building for a while with all that has been going on with life. It's way too time consuming. I will probably get back into it some day but for now these tar threads are a good way for me to give back to the community.
