I'm curious if there's an app that'll track\report data usage, and break it down between wifi and gprs\cellular data. I'm using my Inspire 4G on a network that doesn't provide me usage reporting, so I'm curious if "there's an app for that" hehe
Thanks!
PS - I'm rooted so if it's a root-needing app that's fine too.
This works great for me

If I was on ATT I would do that or just login to my online account... I have an unmetered data provider, who doesn't report back usage, so I just want a way to know for my own curiosity.
Thanks
Data counter widget by Roy Solberg is pretty cool.
keeps up with daily, weekly, and monthly data usage for wifi vs cellular.

Yeah I just got it... works great thanks!
Via XDA for Inspire "4G"
3g watchdog works great too
I've been using DroidStats for a couple days now. Seems to work well but I may try some others to compare.
I have the APk from my old Samsung galaxy tab. Its a widget that shows your live data usage. I'm not sure about the legality of posting the apk here if anyone wants it shoot me a pm. Seems to work well on any system I've tried it on.

The free "Traffic Monitor" widget from the market isn't bad. It shows wi-fi vs OTA traffic with upstream, downstream, and total data used. It also breaks the data down by individual apps and does have a built-in speedtest.

There is a monitor application that comes on the MIUI rom that does this. You could probably pull the apk from the rom if you don't want to use MIUI. Or it could be a market app for all I know.

Data counter widget.
Hey
I'm trying to find out about apps that track data usage.
As most of you know, vzw will eventually switch to a tiered dataplan. So I guess that when my 2 years are up, I will have to switch.
Anyway, im sure there are apps that can tell me exactly how much data I really use on average and I'm wondering which app would be the best one.
Preferably a free app.
Any suggestions?

Use 3G Watchdog. You can backup the usage to the sdcard.
i use 3g watchdog, and is amazing.
anyway from my passage to ics i note a huge usage of data by the Android OS... donno if is normal or not.
..
I'm on a rooted stock so I can use anything and wouldn't restoring my settings.apk screw up my whole system ?

My Verizon wireless plan does not allow unlimited data since I recently upgraded my phone. The unlimited data plan was discontinued after they came up with their new family share all plan. I am an internet junky and love to read about different topics and at times watch videos, and I recently switched from the AOKP ROM and they had a 3G toggle, and, as most of you know, 3G does not kill your data as much 4G. Paranoid Android does not have this toggle and I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that was kind of upsetting. The ROM is pretty amazing though. It has yo be the best one I've had on my phone yet. But am I the only one who was wondering this?

Not to be rude, but why dont you just change the setting to cdma only?
I haven't used PA for a while... you could always download phone info from the market and manually change it there
Here's the market link

As far as I've read 4G doesn't use more data than 3G, it just uses it faster because pages and whatnot load faster.
I mean... loading yahoo.com uses the same amount of data whether you're on 3G, 4G or wifi.
Right...?
My data usage per month is the exact same with my Galaxy as it was with my 3G phones. And I haven't changed the way I use my phone.

I love PA but with .52 my data is dropping like crazy
All 4G does is allow data to transfer faster. Website "A" does not use more data simply because it is being transferred over 4G as opposed to 3G. A 250kb file will be the same across both, you'll just get it much faster on 4G.

The S5 seemed relatively unimpressive, however the download booster feature seems interesting where it uses lte and wifi for data. I was curious as to whether someone could port that over to the Nexus 5 or create their own implementation.
P0rn download b00ster. Moar plox google
Anyways I think it's hardware

I think it is implemented in software. There is a demo for using both LTE and WiFi on Galaxy S2 on YouTube already. (Search for "Energy-efficient multi-link video streaming on smartphones")
This would be REALLY nice feature to have. I actually might root for it!
Im pretty sure that it is software related, because I remember reading about an app for android that does this for you, but for the life of me can't remember the name of the app.

oh i am going to test
Any feedback? 4/5 stars on the Play Store from a N5 user.
Unfortunately I have no WiFi connection to test...
My LTE connection blows away my home Wi-Fi connection.... I don't see how I could benefit from a booster. I would think it would utilize bandwidth from my cellular data connection and not touch my Wi-Fi. Just another gimmick to pay twice as much as you need for a device imho.
