[Q] Radios? - HTC Sensation

Ok, my search isn't working.
I apologize.
Whats the best general radio for the phone?
And what's the link to the adb thread on how to use it and how to change radios
Im suffering from lack of reception at my house.
My 4G is reception is weak too and my signal bar isn't persistant.
Itll claim I have 4 bars but when I unlock it drops to 1 and none.
I also have pretty weak Wifi signal but I can deal with that.
EDIT:
Oh and my radio currently is 10.14.9035.01_M

I also dunno what to do,tommorow i will get HTC Sensation and i want to install custom rom,and dunno do i need to install different Radio or not... ANy help what to do?

You need to get S-Off before you do anything.
Its fairly simple just follow the instructions in the guide at the Development section of this phone.
Custom ROMs are very easily flashable through recovery.
Kernels are done the same way. ROMs will have there own kernel already for the most part.
Radio is suggested sometimes by the developer of the ROM somewhere in their thread.
I just dont remember how to and which radio is good for general use.

Yeagh i know that stuff pretty much, but it says that it has to be ENG S-Off i don`t really know what`s the difference between s-off and eng s-off...

In my bootloader it shows ENG S-Off.
As far as I know, its the same thing.

i Hope so,also, maybe firstly i should try not to flash radio and just try to install rom without flashing radio,if i will have any problems, I will be able to flash recommended radio and everything should be fine, right?

Flashing the recommended radio should be fine.
Just make sure you flash the radio correctly through adb

Well dunno, don`t really wan`t to mess something up... But if i install custom rom onto stock radio, and if it don`t work well, can i just flash radio ,the one that is recommended? Or i have to do something else?

Radio thread should be in first page.
If you have sdk installed and have environment setup its easy
Boot phone to fastboot
Unrar zip from download and you will get radio.img
In cmd type fastboot flash radio (drag radio.img in cmd window) and hit enter
If you dont have sdk set in environment path then you need to go directly to fastboot path
Example:
C:\android\platform-tools\
Then you do fasboot command, thats is you dont have it set, if you do you can use adb, fastboot I any directory path
And im using 10.56....
Before you flash new radio make sure your ril matches your radio

i think i won`t be doing anything to my phone... Android Market has alot of free, great apps. when i will be unhappy about my phone i think only then i will try to do something with it(s-off,custom rom, radio, kernel etc...) but for now,Merry Christmas. ; ))

Thanks, where can I download all that? I dont remember it being in that thread.
Don't I also have to check my hboot version?
I saw somewhere about 1.17 only works with 10.** radios or something

first page
guide-adb setup
radio
ril
and yes need eng-boot which is what you have
eng boot lets you fastboot flash

which RUU?
Hi,
I am a very noob.
I search the forum and saw there are 2 different RUU for BM:
- RUU_Pyramid_BM_1.35.666.1_Radio_10.50.9007.00U_10.12.9007.21_2M_release_200555_signed.exe
- RUU_Pyramid_BM_1.45.666.5_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_220007_signed.exe
Which one should I use?
My phone currently has:
BuildNumber: 1.34.666.1 CL 79935 release-keys
Baseband Version: 10.46.9007.00U_10.12.9007.01_M3
Please advice.
Thanks.

I'm still not clear on how to read the radio page. How do I figure out what RUU I have to determine the radio?

From the 1.23.163.1 RUU:
10.38.9007.00P_10.11.9007.06
that's how.. lol
the top tells you what RUU rom
and the bottom tells you the Radio baseband
(HTC-RIL 2.2.0159HMQ - TMOUS (Possibly Telstra Stock too according to kira168)
Radio version 10.11.9007.15)
so to find match radio to ruu you must know what RUU your rom is based on to get the matching radio and then you use the radio baseband to find the matching ril
eg Tmobole RUU is 1.53.53_TMOB.ruu
you go the the radio thread and on there it has the correct list of RUU matching radio
so you look for the "RUU #" and you download that radio
Code:
From the 1.45.401.2 OTA/RUU:
10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01
md5: 64a0383b87b4b780cf516f7d7e43b784
From the 1.45.531.1 OTA:
has the same radio as the 1.45.401.2 OTA/RUU
From the 1.50.401.1 RUU:
has the same radio as the 1.45.401.2 OTA/RUU
like that this is the tmobile RUU and its OTA's and he has it listed and shows you the radio never changed from the OTA's then he continues from a new RUU from a different region, but most radios can be flashed they are not region dependent
Hope this clears things up and doesnt confuse more things for you

best is to look what radio have now from settings>about phone>software info>More>
and look at baseband it should give you the whole baseband then look at the radio thread to match the RUU from there.
so my baseband is 11.65.3504.00P_11.19.1504.29_9
ill go to the radio thread and look for the match radio and the OP will have the Proper RUU listed
this example OP doesnt have newest ICS posted yet but example be like that
From the 2.08.401.1 RUU:
11.59.3504.00U_11.16.3504.16

Question about s-off

I did the one click root and s-off method. Iv flashed a few roms they all work fine. A few of them have wifi signal problems so i want to try different radios. They say you need eng s-off correct? Not radio s-off? Well this is my real question, in bootloader it says at the top,"ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL". So which is it? Radio s-off or eng s-off? Thanks for any help.

I think most people would agree unless you are positive you know what your doing...eng s-off is not a good idea. Pretty much any radio you would want to flash can be flashed with just radio s-off....it just has to be in a zip named PD98IMG.zip and pretty much all the radios in this forum can be found in that format.

Check that out. It has a radio packaged in it and instructions on how to install it. And my understanding is that whatever radio you want to install, you can take that radio.img and place it in that zip to replace that radio.img that is in it. Somebody correct me if I am wrong please.
EDIT: Here is another thread with instructions on how to flash a radio WITHOUT eng s-off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002226
So is it eng? Or radio s-off?
And im running androidrevolution 5.1.9 and i downloaded the radio from that thread but i dont have access to a conputer to zip it and check it correctly, nor can i find the correct ziped version could somebody possibly do this for me? And the ril file? I think the radio for that rom is 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 thanks guys!

If the radio is flashable via hboot, the thread where you found the radio should say that. The file must be named pd98img.zip for hboot to find it. When you flash a radio this way, you only need the s-off you already have (based on what your bootloader screen says). You do not need eng-off. You are good to go. You should not be zipping anything yourself...
PS Just use the stock ATT radio. There is a thread or two with the pd98img.zip that contains the radio and the ril.
Ok, i have the latest ota already, i did the wifi update before i did the one click, i guess all i need now is the matching rl from the radio i mentioned in my op
Someone just started a new thread for inspire radios. He said he will update it every Friday with radios an the matching ril for each radio.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
Step 1: Find your HBoot flashable PD98IMG.zip file including a radio inside of it, which is compatible with your phone and has been tested and find its md5sum. Make sure that your not downloading a radio.img but a PD98IMG which you always will find here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002226
Step 2: Check the md5sum on your computer (if your running windows google md5checker or something similar) match them and move it to your sdcard, but NOT in a folder.
Step 3: Check the md5sum again but from your inspire, i use hashdroid personally but theres a terminal command also. Once it matches up you are safe and ready to go, but remember you can't be to safe flashing radio's.
Step 4: Hold down Vol- & Power while phone is off and fastboot is NOT on loading yourself into hboot, next is the suspenseful part (unless you did all the steps above correctly) let it sit for a second and it will load the zip on your sdcard later prompting you to vol+ or - for yes/no select yes if you feel safe and it will flash the radio.
Step 5: Attempt to successfully boot into your current rom and then check the radio firmware by going to menu>Settings>About>Software i believe or something close.
Congratulations you've made it through easily and painlessly without needing to bother with Eng-Off.
Thank Shad0wf0x for this method as i learned from his and attn1's help through alot of irc chatting when i first got my inspire, which was also my first android/ios phone.

I don't think anyone has answered the question that he asked. He want to know if he has radio s-off or eng s-off if his bootloader screen said,"ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL". Answer is you have radio s-off so you can flash roms via recovery but not radios. Everyone here is just telling you that the eng s-off is not a good idea in order to flash radios and pointing you to posts that shows you how to install radios by using PD98IMG method. I used this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106324). All the radios are already named PD98IMG.zip, so all you have to do is place it in your sd card and use Hboot to install it. Also it has correct ril files for the radio that you can flash from cwm recovery (make sure you go to mounts and storage screen and mount/system before you flash ril files when you are in recovery).
I had the same question, now I have both radio and eng s-off, you have to use the eng s-off tool...theres a turoial (to get eng s-off).....

[Q] about hboot and ICS

Dear friends, I am about to install ICS and have read a loft of materials about it. But I have some questions that I couldn't find. Could you please guide me on that.
1. It is required to install a new firmware v. 3.24 in order to run the ROM. Then it is recommended to install new radio. Does firmware include new radio and if not what does it include?
2. As far as I understood new firmware updates hboot making it version 1.24, and it is written in the forums that only 1.17 hboot is unlocked. Could you please tell what difference does it make? Why can't I use fastboot in new hboot and why do I need it for?
3. If I make a full backup of my system does it revert everything back, or hboot and new radio is not the part of a backup?
4. I also have read that if radio and IPL do not match it could brick the device. How do I know what IPL I have and how to match recommended radio with IPL?
5. Once more could you please tell what components does new firmware include and why should I update the firmware in order to run ARDH 6.1.0?
Thank you for your replies, as I'm not doing anything until I clearly understand what I am doing.
Mikhail.
Newest ics. Puts boot up to 1.27 unlocked which means it gives you advance fast boot commands which allows you fasbiot flash radio and splash screens etc. Etc. Same goes for 1.17
Also yes newest firmware does put new radio in
Can't answer all but remember, if you update to hboot 1.27, say goodbye to GB roms as they are not supported on hboot 1.27... You have to stick with ICS roms in future... You can't revert back but that i am not sure about...

It that right if I say that new firmware updates new hboot and radio? Or there is something else that the new firmware includes? I also a bit confused what all mean by "firmware" because in wiki it means the ROM + firmware and kernel.

Yes it does look at your current hboot and radio once you update to firmware 3.24 you will have hboot 1.27 and radio 11.x. x. X when I mean firmware I mean the pdimg that is needed to flash new ics roms

As of now is older radio are not compatible with new hboot

[Q] What'd be the "firmware" thing?

I mean, I come from desire experience.
There I have SPL, HBOOT, Recovery, Radio and the ROM itself.
Now, why for example Insertcoin is asking me to "upgrade the firmware" with that PG58IMG.ZIP file?
The content seems to be ... scary: hboot, radio, recovery ...
What's the explanation for it?
Shouldn't it be better to say: you need to have this radio and that hboot in order to have this ROM working?
TIA.

I'm really dumb, sorry and still don't understand.
I have those 10 binary IMG files into a 20+ MB PG58IMG.zip (37+ MB uncompressed) "just to have the right environment to run his ROM?
How am I supposed to "undo" such a heavy replacement?
He's replacing both the HBOOT and the recovery! And possibly also the SPL!
The newest InsertCoin is based on ICS, so you need the new Firmware (3.24) in order to make it work.
d/l the PG58IMG.zip from the thread linked in the InsertCoin thread, flash it, then flash the ROM and you are good to go. Just check _before_ that your CID and MID is in the list when flashing the new Firmware.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
You are seriously changing out the guts of your phone.
But if you want ICS, and no one is forcing you to do this, then you need all these changes.
You are stepping up your firmware, radio , hboot etc.
In order to have ICS you must do this.
But you can step back .
Nothing else will work with firmware 3.24
So, you can step down easily to firmware 3.12
GB will work with this.
Although, once you try ICS, you will probably stay with it.

The firmware for ICS roms not only updates hboot and radio it also modifies the partitions on your system. That's why the phone boot loops if you flash an ICS rom onto a gingerbread firmware, the rom looks for data in a partition that doesn't exist. Returning to Stock few questions.

So I am returning to stock from this build:
ROM: CyanogenMod 9 RC1
FIRMWARE: 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x
Radio:/ 11.22.3504.07_M
Hboot: 1.27.1100
And I have a few questions because reading the guides just didn't help me:
1. I can't understand completely the name of the RUU's: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe
1.27.401.3 - is this HBOOT version?
10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15 - This is radio but why does it have 2 values?
192183- What is this?
2.
If you have S Off, this doesn't matter, but you should always try to flash the oldest RUU, so that it is easier to S Off later, unless you don't intend to perform S Off again.

I am S Off and I want to return my phone to S-on for warranty purposes then S-Off again so I must flash the oldest RUU right? If it is this is the situation how to determine the oldest RUU by HBOOT version?
3. Firmwares? What about them does the RUU overwrites the firmware should I downgrade firmware before flashing older RUU and can it be done? Is there such thing as firmware and RUU compatibility? If there is which firmware corresponds to which RUU, the firmwares have version that are not mentioned anywhere else?
4. Which RUU's I can flash and which I can't? I mean what should I look for to be suitable? Should I install RUU that has the same HBOOT version as mine or I can install older like I am ICS and I want to install GB RUU so I can S-Off easier latter?
So I am a little confused about downgrading and picking suitable versions of everything.
I decided to try without matching anything just downloading the RUU with the oldest hboot and flash it. It's RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe and my device info is in the beggining of the thread. So in FASTBOOT i run .exe and I get

1. RUU naming convention
RUU_Pyramid_<an extra LE in the name if XE>_HTC_<country/cariier>_<rom main version>_Radio_<radio version>_release_<release version>_signed.exe
dont bother about release version ..we dont need that
the only concerns are ..
country/carrier -> which determines the cid
rom main version ->explains whether youy are on GB or ICS (lesser the version ..older it is ...only between same country/carrier RUU's)
radio version -> tells the radio
2.oldest RUU ..ive explained earlier ..the main version should be least ..but this comparison is only valid if the country/carrier matches
eg:
in case of
RUU_pyramid_tmous_1.52.xx
and
RUU_pyramid_europe_1.27.xx (you cant say which one is oldest)
3.no firmware questions when we are talking about RUU (firmware arises when you talk about custom roms)
RUU has everything ...it wipes everything and converts it to stock (RUU cant touch the SOFF and CID though ..they can be changed only manually ..i.e. by we doing it manually by commands)
4.which RUU ..is you decide by CID ...
if you are supercid ..and dont know the original cid
you need to select the RUU based on your country and carrier
there is an excellent guide on RUU and it explains everything
here is the link to it ...do read it
(it helps you in finding right RUU too )
RUU RELEATED INFO AND FLASHING GUIDE
also remember by flashing RUU ..you wont lose SOFF ...unless you change it manually ..to know how to change it please refer the above guide
also i believe this answer ..answers your second post questions too
Thanks a lot! But I still got the problem with error I mentionted in the 1st post (error 5001) I tried with 1.27 and 1.28 HTC-Pyramid-Europe. What should I do is flashing through safe mod possible.

im confused
did you mean you solved it ? or are you asking me how to bypass that error ?
anyways
you need to keep the phone connected to pc in bootloader/fastboot and then run the RUU.exe
Also ..if you did HTC-DEV unlock ..relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock) and run the RUU.exe
I can't solve the problem. I connect it in bootloader/fastboot and try to run the RUU.exe. And I did revolutionary S-OFF.
Hey no idea that
error: -5001. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.
is pretty annoying.
What is the CID currently on the phone ?
The RUU with xxx.401.xxxx IRC will require SuperCID (11111111) or a CID of HTC__001.
1.27... will end up installing HBOOT 1.17.0008 (just gone through the process on my replacement replacement phone.
As mentioned earlier you'll keep S-OFF and your existing CID after installing the RUU.
As far as the comms are concerned have you got the latest HTC drivers on the PC ?

I've recently run a few RUUs on my phone to get to a state where I could have a carrier backup, just in case (I forgot to get one immediately after S-OFF/custome recovery, doh). At no point did I re-lock the bootloader, I unlocked it (HBOOT 1.27.0000) and it's stayed unlocked the whole time, always worked perfectly. I also didn't have the phone in bootloader/fastboot mode, it was just on the home screen, again worked perfectly. I guess YMMV.
I am super CID.

regarding RUU running normally ..you should have usb debugging enabled ..and need to have proper drivers too to recognize the device ..
running from fastboot no hassle there.. (most 155 errors can be prevented from running from fastboot)
couple of people were thrown error 99 when they ran RUU with unlocked bootloader ..so relock is a safer bet to prevent that error too

[Q] How do I flash a new radio?

I see the thread that showed the new 3.18 radio for AT&T is out. I have SCID, root, S-OFF, and viper XL installed - I've gotten that much, however, how do I upgrade the radio?
I see in the radio thread that there are 2 downloads, one that has RLL files and one that does not - which do I need? Thanks for the help!
use the 3.18 Radio from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012
in youre case, you can Flash the zip in TWRP as you do with a ROM.
the RIL files maybe can make Problems.

So download the zip to a location on the phone's memory, reboot into TWRP, select the file, and flash it?
