Battery Life of P6200 - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hi all, i'm new to the P6200, i got it for few days and everything running fine. However my battery use increased greatly today but i didnt install any new apps.
its about 8 hrs from 100%-60% while my usage didnt increase at all.
BTW how long does your battery last ?
Im planning to root my P6200 and use Titanium backup to freeze some apps. However i gonna need to know how can i unroot first, except the flashing method. Since im in Hong Kong and doesnt have the HK verson firmware yet. I afraid it would void my warranty incase my tab got any problem.

I used the root method on this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367249
Rooting will void your warranty ,

doing a factory reset will unroot the tab, as well as installing an update. All it does is remove su from system/bin.

thanks ! then i will root it asap !! yay !

Strangely enough, I updated to the current patch via WiFi, and did not have to re-root.

I don't know why but my battery jumped from 100% to 89% within 2 hrs of standby. What could've possibly caused this? Facebook app?

You might need to manually remove su from system/bin to fully unroot, someone posted a procedure here somewhere.

Or it maybe your mobile network signal, are you in dual mode?
You can also force stop facebook and check again your battery usage.

i chose GSM mode only since i acquired my tab+. but still, my battery drains fast even in standby mode.
i also put the refresh interval of the FB app to "never".

true, once i set my mobile network to WCDMA only from dual mode( auto), the problem is gone ! now i just used 9% with 6 hrs usage , mainly wtsapp and standby. very nice
of cause i set all the refresh to off for those apps like fb

The new Facebook App drains the battery on my GSII at a rediculous rate, on the Tab it didn't do it too much but I never really opened it. I suspect there is a battery leak that starts once the program is open. On my GSII I noticed a drain maxing out at 20% an hour until I uninstalled Facebook.

aw. mine is like 30% lost within 3 hrs of continuous use. what firmware are you using?

I know battery performance is always relative to the application we use and runs but lately I've tried the GT7+ battery performance with nonstop(*almost) gaming n browsing, I only get approximately 6 hours from 100-2% with screen brightness set on 30% and browsing via 3G
here's the graph:

i suggest downloading CPU spy and leave it for like 4 to 5 hours and check if its doing a deep sleep.

ive been using this tab since november.. yes, i have the international version. i got it in Indonesia, and right now, using it in Australia on Vodafone network..
the battery life is superb!! it lasts for almost 2 days!! actually, more like around 40+hrs on single charge.. but i use, like 3-5hrs of calling each day and some 150+ whatsapp msgs..

I don't get it not even a year yet
BTW I'm stock froyo/ rooted
Bad battery ? Any one else experience this? I have juice defender set CPU
Battery stats say main cause is "cell standby" any tricks to fix this?
No I'm not going to gb
meh...
Well, in the end, that's the best that froyo can do for the G2X...
I had Froyo and i pulled off 6hrs, when i got GB i was able to pull off 8, so yea, juice defender really wouldn't give you that much more battery life, the best shot is to upgrade the ROM.
i would consider updating it :/ i've never had froyo but since i've been using gb i get 15+ hours out of my phone and that's with heavy texting, internet browsing, some netflix watching and a little gaming. but cell standby seems to be my biggest problem too i wish i could fix that

Running froyo I was getting at least 14-16 hours.
Usually bad battery life can be accredited to less-than-optimal user settings, heavy device usage, or there's a rogue app that's sucking your battery down.

and as you can see i still have about half a battery left. the only precaution i really take is that my brightness is almost down to zero. and on my old phone it used to show in the battery settings if i used a certain application such as internet or ebuddy. i have no idea why it won't show those on this device so you can't see my heavy internet usage, gaming and some netflix watching.
and just for reference i'm running complete stock no root or anything. i'm now on one day and two hours worth of battery with 30% still left

Have you tried booting into recovery and erasing battery data? That greatly improved battery life on my Nexus S after it had undergone multiple ROM flashes.

The ROM you're using is a huge matter. With CM7, i couldn't go a day without charging. Now, with MIUI, I'm pretty sure I can get 3 days, with normal brightness, and my normal use, which is email and texting.

It depends on a lot of things. I think it should last longer than 9 hours with little use, but if you have things like FaceBook or newsfeeds or weather updating frequently, that could wear it down. If your 3G signal is weak, that could definitely wear it down.

thank you very much for the info, I think my battery is damaged. Today I leave with 71% battery in 3 hours and 50% battery low, only had 3g but because data was transferred to a prepaid chip. As I can see if my battery is damaged?
I usually last ~36 hours, data and screen off.
Did you check to see what is using up your battery in Settings? I can easily last for over 24 hours with the display off, or otherwise known as standby mode.

If your keeping it in your pocket and/or in an area where it is going in and out of signal, it will go through battery very quickly. Even spending a hour in a store where you get no signal. I have noticed a more poor signal in my pants pocket vs a shirt/coat pocket. It will show underneathe the battery graph as red under signal. I agree also that having a ton of apps syncing will eat battery on mobile data, also things like gps, bluetooth, wifi on with no connection, ect.
I normally lose about 25% during a 9 hour work day, with 4G on. But I don't run alot of apps that need syncing (all set to manual), only have google contacts syncing on, and I'm in a constant good signal area. That's with a few google searches, email checks, and forum checks.
Edit: I'm on CM10 with blue lightning, smartassV2 w/stock clocks.

Just curious... are you running CM10? I've noticed that even though my screen isn't on I was getting a ton of battery drain from the screen regardless of kernel used... so I went back to Tweaked.
Now I get a 1% loss per hour with WiFi & sync on and WiFi calling active when the screen is constantly off.

Nexus 5 battery problems

Hi. I have a two-months-old Nexus 5 (stock ROM & kernel; rooted). Two days ago my battery suddenly started having some problems. First of all, it doesn't last more than 1-2 hours with normal phone usage. Then it often becomes hot, even when not charging. Last but not least, if I keep using my phone while charging, it charges incredibly slowly, or it doesn't charge at all (the charge remains stable). I'm using the stock charger. Any suggestion?

The Nexus 5 has been proven to last longer then an SGS4 which has a bigger battery, and the HTC one with the same size battery (under proper testing conditions) all while using a faster SoC. Do you troll the forums for those phones as well?
Maybe a Moto G or LG G2 would suit some people better for their increased battery life, but that doesn't mean you need to troll every thread on here with false accusations.
If you'd like any more proof on how the N5 battery lasts longer and is more efficient than competing phones of higher prices, just let me know.

Go into device settings > Location. Set Mode to Device only. Ensure that the Google location reporting in that same area is off.
Take another BBS log and post it.
I experience the same issues. Not charging when connected or even lose charge when connected. I am still figuring out what causes it. First of all try using the original cable and charger. Second, disconnect the charger when the screen is on, I read somewhere that can help as well.
Today I had the same issue again, but just before I started charging, the battery would lose 1% per 2 minutes and my phone became very warm.
If I find out more, I will let you know.

That is the problem. That particular wakelock belongs to Google Now. I hope you don't use it, because the solution is to turn it off (from within the program). You could try force stopping and/or wiping it's data. But the fact of the matter is that it's a bug in the app.
Google Now has been this way since it was released. The only conclusion I can draw is that Google doesn't care. It's never behaved properly. And that location reporting (that you've now disabled) is completely out of control, been that way for a year now. I actually greenify the Google apps now. I'm tired of putting up with the lazy programming. Keep, Now, Chrome, Drive, Maps, I greenify all of those. I still allow them to sync, but Greenify will kill them again after they are finished.

Good to hear. If anyone else see's Android OS or Search taking up 50% or more of your battery that can be mitigated.

Take out your Battery, put it on a flat surface say a table. Try to Spin it....if it spins over 2 rounds then you need to buy a new battery.

Worst battery life with 30O ?

Horrible drain for me this night !
I apply exactly the same setting, after my fresh flash. (Disabled GooglePlay Services, Disabled lot of services in Privacy...)
So, clean install, remove uselesswares inside rom, i'm losing 1,3% per hour in idle !
25R was 0.3% 0.4% per hour.
And to compare, i also flashed my LG G3 yesterday, no optimisations, untouched rom, only lost 1% in 10 hours !
Definitly moving back to 25R !
OPO is probably the worst device in battery life i have.

Post battery usage screens. Also, do you use greenify? Custom kernel? Dalvik/ART?
If it's draining that much there must be something running constantly in the background while you're idling and hence affecting the battery life.
Screen was off !
Overnight drain.
There can still run things on your phone, while your screen was off.
That's why he asked

Drain until 1%, then charge.

Well I've been loosing about 1% per hour during the night since I got the phone. During the night I have everything turned off since I only need the alarm.

I'm having the exact same issue as with many others. Definitely a faster drain. Don't seem to be any wakelocks or other things keeping it from zapping the juice. However, it just keeps going down fast...

No time to lose, already reverted back to 25R.
Really disappointed of Cyanogen Software.
CM11 is running great on LG G2, Note 3, so why it's so bad on its dedicated device ?!?

I'm not alone ! :good:
We'll probably get more customers feedbacks in the next days, but for me, 30O is a fail.
I just wanted to say that 30O update didn't make battery worse since it was already loosing that much juice already.

I did a similar test to you. Last night, I charged my Nexus 5 and OnePlus One up to 100%. I took them both off the charger at the same time, put them both on Airplane mode and went to sleep.
Woke up this morning, N5 on 99% and OPO on 94%, couldn't see anything notably different looking at the battery stats either... Not sure why it is draining so fast!

Yes, but it only takes you 2 minutes to enter your name, nickname, email and password when registering.
To be honest, the problem is not only with the latest software.
I'm using gummy, which has a CM based kernel and even after disabling everything possible (keep awakes in app ops, all syncs, google play service stuf, app feedback and notification data) and with zero apps in foreground and in airplane mode, I'm still loosing ~1% per hour over night.
The device is in deep sleep and wakelock detector doesn't see any wakelocks besides a couple of minutes of "AudioIn" from google search.
It might be even worse on the latest software, but there is a general problem here.
Either it's a driver/kernel problem, or they're just selling really cheap batteries that get worse over time (unlikely, I hope)... Or it could be the double tap to wake/sleep function(going to test that next night).
On the nexus 5 this option was available when using a custom kernel, but the devs added an option that one could use it, but only when turning the screen off by using the double tap to sleep option.
When turning it off with the hardware button, dt2w would be deactivated.
The reason for that was that the device would always have to wait for and register the dt2w, which could drain the battery.
Anyway, this is the last thing I'm going to try and that I am able to test now, if that's not the problem, it has be one of the other two options.
We know one thing for sure - the idle drain was not there before the update, so it means the update introduced it.
If it's because of the proximity sensor for gestures/doubletap/etc. or some other bug - it's unclear at this point in time.
Most likely it's not related to the radio or mobile phone functions, as people report the same increased drain in airplane mode.
25R is fine for me. 4.4.2.
Nightlies are worst concerning battery drain.
30O has same drain as Nightlies, now 4.4.4
So, what is 30O ? Only M9 or Nightly rebadged ?

That's bad news, I was hoping one of the ways to get back to normal battery drain was installing M9... but seems if OP/Cyanogen don't react to this in a few days, the only solution will be reverting to 25R. It's a good thing I made a TWRP backup
Full 25R TWRP flashable is here !

Question New Poco X3 Pro - defective battery?

I've ordered a Poco X3 Pro directly from the localized Xiaomi online shop a few days ago and have received it on Saturday.
It arrived with the battery at 72%.
After setting it up, downloading and installing a new firmware version, installing a few apps that I'm using as well as uninstalling several of those that came with the phone (all done only with the phone itself - no adb debloating, yet) I put the phone aside with I think around 45% of battery capacity left. (Possibly something around 35%.)
Just now - about a day later - I picked it up again to continue and am shocked to find out that the battery is completely drained. (I haven't even put a SIM card in, yet)
Does that mean that I've received a defective device or is there another plausible explanation why the battery has completely drained within just about 24 hours at the most of not even touching it?
Could it be the not having a SIM in while NOT in airplane mode or is the modem off anyways when there's no SIM?
I'm hoping that someone in this subreddit can give me some advice on the issue.
It means you should charge a new device to 100% before using. Charge to 100% then use it until shutdown for 3 times and see what you got.
It's best to establish a baseline before optimizing. Otherwise you have no frame of reference to the performance improvement or degradation.
Return it if it doesn't function normally.

if the problem persists bring it to sc or for replacement.
Thanks to the both of you for replying.
In the meantime I've fully charged it and put it into airplane mode with wifi on (its not my main phone, yet, so there's still no SIM in it). Now, two days later I'm still on 64% charge.
To me that either points towards the new battery having to be trained first issue or indeed is an issue caused by not having at least one SIM in causing the modem to go on continues search draining the battery. Had I better battery stats on the phone I could test that latter theory - unfortunately I haven't.

try using it with sim and fully charge it 100 then use as normal with wifi or just play games, let's see if how it goes.

See what app(s) is using up the battery.
AOD is off, right?
Otherwise that's a high drain.

Just saying... if not standby time should be very long. Likely an app.

Poco X3 Pro is LCD, no need AOD.
MIUI system itself drains battery fast.
Personally uses custom ROM. Whole day with 3G only, WIFI off mostly, phone mostly in standby, battery drain is around 5~6% or less per day.
Stop charging at 55%, start charging at 49 and below, charge once daily.

I wouldn't mind lineageos but I have to use an official ROM for my banking app to work.

I see
Just a heads up:
After little over three months of using the phone I've come to the conclusion that the issue was caused by using the phone without SIM while it was constantly looking for a connection. Putting it into airplane mode fixed the issue.
Once I had fully swapped phones from my Axon 7 to the Poco X3 Pro (i.e. also moved the SIM over) it still worked as originally expected.
Now, since I currently can not sit due to a few surgeries a few weeks ago I'm fighting boredom in bed with the phone watching videos, surfing the web, checking some apps or by playing games via the Steam link app. So wifi and Bluetooth are both on all day every day, not to mention the normal mobile network connection.
With doing that I would guess a full charge would last 12-13 hours because typically I'm charging the phone before I sleep at which point I'm down to about 20% and having a full day with around 10.5 hours of screen on time.
I can only say that I'm really satisfied with the battery life of the X3 Pro - so far there's nothing to complain (besides a lack of updates and MIUI 12.5 which although ok isn't my favorite).
