*3282# I get this text (DEACTIVATED)"??? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

To find out how much data you used on ATT, you send *3282# on your phone. When I do that on my phone, I get a text back stating
"Next Bill Cycle: 12/28/2011
Data (MB): 0.1 of Unlimited (Deactivated)
Data (MB): 0 of Unlimited
Data (MB): 820.6 of Unlimited (Deactivated)

Why does it say "(Deactivate)"
Is this normal? Or just me?

Could it be that you changed your Data Plan in the middle of the billing cycle ?
That would be my best guess as to why it would say that.

Thats exactly what happened to me when I upgraded from Captivate to the Skyrocket.
The old data plan is deactivated because you got stitched to a LTE data plan equivalent.

Data Plan Differences?

I'm currently using an unlocked G1 on AT&T. I went way over my data usage ($1200 over) and AT&T said they would backtrack it if I signed up for a data plan. I said ok and they gave me the Data Unlimited plan ($15). What is the difference between the Data Unlimited Plan ($15) and the PDA Personal Plan ($30)? Will I be charged more since I have a smartphone and am using the internet as much as I want or will the Data Unlimited cover that?
No, you get charged for the plan you have. Your device is considered a PDA (according to them that is) since it has a QWERTY keyboard. There's absolutely no difference but ATT just wants us PDA users more since we apparently get more out of the internet. If you don't need it, i'd call and cancel it.
I got the iPhone yesterday and 3 minutes later, I sold it. Called them up and she removed it for me.
Well I want to keep the internet plan so I can use the internet without being charged per usage. So just to clarify, because AT&T assigned the Data Unlimited plan (on the website since my phone is from T-Mobile it's just represented by a generic phone and not a smartphone) to me it will cover all my internet usage?

Yes (except tether which you need a separate plan for).
I believe the data unlimited just includes internet access, while the more expensive PDA Personal plan includes unlimited messaging ( sms, mms ) too. I think there in lies the cost difference.

On the data unlimited package, on the pda personal package they are included.
I have the pda personal package with no separate sms package and get unlimited texts.
Which is why, even though his phone is considered a pda, he is still getting the cheaper plan.
That's the 50 dollar plan, right?
That's the $30.00 dollar PDA personal plan.
that is on top of the $39.99 phone plan.
$15 unlimited plan!??!?!
what state do you get this plan in? i'm moving . . . i pay either $50-$65 for unlimited (5GB)!
5GB = unlimited --------- weird eh

Want your Unlimited Data Back? Here's How

Hello Everyone,
If you were like me when getting your new phone, the sales rep had a new sim card processed and in your phone before you could kiss your old one good bye.
In the garbage can went your old sim card and your unlimited data plan in the process.
Many of the sales reps will not set up the unlimited automatically for you.
Note: You need to be grandfathered in.
If you had unlimited, you can simply walk back into the store and have it reactivated.
Don't know if you lost your unlimited?... Dial *3282# on your phone and it text you with data usage as well as any changes to the plan. Looks like this...
Next Bill Cycle: 03/09/2011
Data (MB): 557.4 of Unlimited (Deactivated)
Data (MB): 1941.7 of 2048 (Deactivated)
Data (MB): 1030.3 of Unlimited
Messaging: 696 of Unlimited
Messaging: 660 of Unlimited (Deactivated)
Now that mine is reactivated. I'm good to go. You only have 30 days to get it switched back, so act fast.
Are you trying to say that you don't have the 5gb cap on your data plan?

No ATT only has a 2Gig plan.
Yeah I ordered mine over the web and by by went my unlimited data plan. Until I called and asked for RMA instructions as I was going to return the phone if they didn't reinstate my plan.
thank you for this information. My unlimited plan "accidentally" got changed to the 2GB plan yesterday when I got my inspire. A call to ATT seems to have the "accident" corrected.
Don't know if you have tried it yet, but your tethering will also be gone now. Now the phone has to be rooted in order to be able to use the HTC Hotspot for free.
I called customer support today and complained about losing my data plan. They submitted a case and a few hours later voila! Unlimited data returns. Very simple

at&t customer service sucks dead donkey parts no matter which way you cut it lol. when I exchanged my atrix for the inspire yesterday at the local at&t corporate store, the salesman try to convince me that I had to downgrade my 30 dollar unlimited data plan with 4 g service activated on it to a data pro plan. and then he want to charge me to copy my contacts from the atrix to the inspire on top of it lol. I simply said really? It's not an iphone I think I can manage to copy my phone contacts.

Have you seen this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960058
Root is not necessary to enable wifi hotspot
or u can find a buddy with a 2g iphone and activate it under your account. pick one of the 3 unlimited data plans. once you insert your sim into the inspire at&t will prompt you in a text message that the 3g unlimited data plan was added...
Thanks for the info. Can anyone confirm that I am still on the unlimited plan, the text I got was a little confusing....

[Q] T-Mobile Unlimited Data Plan

I purchased the unlimited data plan in March of 2011 (I'm pretty sure there was no 5 GB bandwidth limit at that time).
I hit 5GB cap today with 5 more days left till next data - my phone says I have HSDPA connection but download speed is horrible.
Is this normal?
And is it okay for T-Mobile to change my plan without any notice? I'm not sure if 5GB cap was set on my contract (will have to go back home this weekend to check)...
If my contract doesn't state any 5GB cap, would it be okay to call T-Mobile and tell them?
Thanks!

Don't know about t-mobile, but in Germany (O2 provider) they also have "unlimited" data plan. But there's cap on 5GB, and when you reach it, speed drops to GPRS. So I think that's common thing.
Usually they write all restrictions somewhere unnoticeable with small font ...
They have always had a throttle clause.

So what exactly is the difference now? My sister picked up a data plan this month and she said that hers is not unlimited while mine is (according to T-Mobile rep on the phone).. we're both paying $30 a piece.

Tmobile's unlimited has always had a 5gb cap. After you pass 5gb your speed gets throttled. Its still unlimited data because you still have data service... the one she just signed up for has a 2gb limit.

Will ATT charge more for data on skyrocket?

I already have the old data plan 15$ unlimited (grandfathered) + unlimited family messaging. If I pop my sim into an ATT skyrocket, will they charge me more for the data plan? I would buy the phone off ebay.
I don't think you can pop your sim card in. Lte sim is different I believe.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
its the same kind of sim, just lte enabled. My sim would only get me 3G speeds, just want to know if ATT will charge me more for data.
NO. when you get it. Call them and tell them to put your number on you the LTE Sim Card and then your data plan will just transfer. if you have the $30 unlimited grandfathered, it'll carry over. Same price as before. 2GB is still $25
I know it's the same type lol. Just saying you wont get lte without contacting at&t. But no, you shouldn't get charged more or lose you grandfathered plan. But not 100% sure.

That sounds like the MediaNET plan, which AT&T won't grandfather you in unlimited if it is.
If it's from the iPhone 2G or 3G, or you had unlimited data on a smartphone before AT&T got rid of it, they'll put you on LTE unlimited.
I have my phone on an ex-girlfriend's plan. We both have unlimited AT&T data but different plans because she uses an iPhone. She initiated the process for me to take over my piece of the account. Will my unlimited data stay with me if I complete the process?

The only way you will find out is go to a store or call.
If you have the medianet data package tell them to show you where in the terms of service it says they can't grandfather you into unlimited smartphone data. If the can't show you then it just says they will grandfather unlimited data. Push the issue and you'll get it. I know I did it. Went from iPhone unlimited to medianet and then upgraded to an android phone. Used the argument above and I'm on unlimited data again.

Select Value Unlimited Everything for $35??

I'm currently on the $30 unlimited text/data plan with 100 minutes.
I have a friend who is on a $35 plan with unlimited everything including unlimited voice (+$8 for insurance).
How do I switch to that? Attached are some screenshots. Notice it does not give me the option to switch to the "Select" plans?

You get 0 data with the $35 plan and it's probably only available for new activations, like the $30 plan.

You can't. Select Value plans are no longer offered. People that have them are grandfathered into them like Verizon and unlimited data plans.

Straight talk does for $45, but I wouldn't recommend them. You could always just try it though. BTW, it's not really unlimited, it's 2.5GB at high speed then the rest at 2G. No one is going to give you unlimited everything for less than $45. If someone is, please tell me who because I'm switching right away

Not unlimited everything. Just voice and data. I use Google Voice so don't need texting.
The above plan in the OP is close to that. I wish there was something less than $60 though.

there is... if you find 4 other people, and get a 10-15% off corporate discount from t-mobile
then get a t-mobile simple choice family plan with 5 people. base account price of $110 split by 5 people = $22 per
add in $20 for unlimited data = $42. add ~15% fee/taxes, minus 10-15% discount... should be under $50

With or without throttling? Straight Talk's base plan is $45 unlimited with throttling. I don't know off the top of my head, but I think there are other MVNOs for about the same price. As for unlimited everything without throttling, you're not going to get that for under $70/month. There is no free lunch.

Throttling would be ok. I'm comfortable with 1.5 to 2 GB at LTE.
500 MB is a bit low though.

Well like I said, you're not going to get a free lunch. If you don't want to pay for it all, you have to accept throttling and/or limited airtime. AIO offers 2 GB for $55/month. Net10 has 2.5 GB/month for $50. GoSmart has a $50 plan with 5 GB/month at 3G speed if you can live with that.

Thats why I told you straight talk a while ago. 2.5GB at LTE speeds for $45. They have horrendous customer service though.
