Stock ROM - Motorola Atrix 2

So I have been messing with this stock rom. I think it is fast and stable. I like it and the ability to have root makes it that much better. I think the only thing I would wish for is:
-stock rooted rom
-custom kernel
And I would be happy. How do you guys feel about the overall performance of this phone and rom?

I do like the stock look and interface for the most part, but I could be happier with the stock rom's bugginess. And it could preform better. Too much bloat, really.

Rooting and battery life

Hey guys,i just got my glacier the other day, and I am enjoying it quite a bit. I was just wondering if I should root. Actually i will root, but idk if ishould flash cm7 or just keep sense. Cause I like some of the features on sense, such as the favorite contacts stuff and the fact that app compatibility is not lost.
Do you guys think flashing cm7 is a good idea? Also, by how much does it increase battery life and performance?

Your basic question is about personal preference. There are those who prefer Sense, and those who don't. CM7 is not yet in Beta, though I'm quite happy with it as an end user. There is nothing I miss in the stock ROM, and there are many features of CM and Gingerbread that I would miss if I returned to stock. I also get better battery life and higher performance, but those are not the prime motivation for sticking with CM.
HTC Glacier running CM7 #31
Ok, thank you. I will go ahead and flash it. I can always go back to sense. Mostly I was just wondering about the battery life and performance improvements.

for me, flashing CM7 from stock more than doubled my battery life (~10hrs to ~26hrs) and performance-wise...runs a lot faster and smoother. Im using Launcher Pro instead of ADW that comes with it, better performance. I do miss the easy contact syncing with other apps like facebook, but I can do without it. Give it a shot when you get rooted, just make sure you do a backup of stock so you can revert back if you dont like CM7. You can also try out Iced Glacier, pretty much a stock sense ROM without all the bloatware
What I don't like about Sense:
The music app doesn't auto landscape.
The contacts app doesn't auto landscape.
Other than that, Sense is pretty stable.
I'm hesitent to jump on CM7 nightlies because with every build, everyone says it's stable and great but they still report an issue. "Oh it's stable and awesome! But my screen is upside down and my wifi doesn't work." It's like, what? How is that stable?
I'm on Evil's Z 0.7.0 rom and this thing is SOLID. The performance and battery life are amazing, it's close to stock and it looks great. G2's rom should've been on this thing from the start.
I'm loving CM7 and the improved battery life, the only thing I miss from sense is the camera app.
Personally I like both. I had CM7 for a while, its good! Then I started to miss sense and I flashed it back. Certain things I like about the stock rom that isn't on vanilla.

I really need help

I'm slightly a noob to this though I've rooted phones before, I want to know if I should root my Sensation or wait for the ICS update? Also, when I rooted my android phones I never really saw any difference in the phone other than the ROM customization. Is there anything I did wrong or a specific way to get better battery life? I saw barely any difference with the battery on my rooted phones, Thanks.

Root now, install custom ICS later.
Battery life isn't directly related to rooting, but rather to the roms available once your rooted. When devs make a custom rom, they usually take out all the extra crap u never see running, as well as make device specific tweaks the manufacturer/carrier doesn't bother with. Most folks don't realize how much their phones are underperforming out of the box(just look at the iCrowd).
To really answer your question it depends on if you are expecting your phone to have the ICS appearance or not. When HTC updates to ICS it will still have Sense on it and will appear pretty much the same as it does now with a few feature updates.
This is why I decided to root my phone for the first time ever because I like the appearance of ICS and the HTC upgrade was going to look the same. So I rooted and install Virtuous Inquisition ROM and haven't looked back. Works great!
The ICS official update will be bloated to hell. Root now, and when the official updated is released, it will end up being debloated and made so much better, then you can just flash it.
It depends on what rom and kernel u install.... If you install a heavy rom with oc'd kernel you dont have to expect battery savings... If you istall a rom like insertcoin and you dont oc but undervolt...... You will see a great difference! If you oc and uv you gett greater performance with roughly the same usage

How fast are custom roms on the GS3?

IMO the stock phone is extremely fast and smooth. With 2GB ram I also haven't seen any apps being forced out of memory.
So with a custom rom, all the speed tweaks etc, what exactly is improved over the stock phone. Do apps launch faster, less lag etc? Are there any videos comparing stock vs custom (esp AOSP vs TW) ?

I personally just used AOSP for about a day, switched back due to a few bugs, but it was definitely speedy quick. Faster than stock? Yes for sure, but stock is super fast as it is. As for AOSP vs TW, i'd love to stay on AOSP but i love the TW camera and just can't get over not having it You should try custom roms for each one and just see what you prefer
If you look on YouTube you will find several reviews on roms currently available for our gs3.

At this point in time they offer no advantage over stock. Hopefully one day they will but Samsung did such a great job on the stock Rom for a change that our custom roms are a little faster but with a few things broke or bad battery life or bad 3g/4g hand off.

I agree 100%.
I have tried every ROM available at this point & I always end up going back to the setup in my sig.
I always chuckle when I read post claiming a ROM is smoother/faster/less lag etc than a completely debloated stock ROM like CleanROM or Synergy. Talk about the ultimate placebo affect......
Most have issues but many offer huge advantages from deep functionality to deep customization. If those interest you, perhaps small issues in stability or data usage are a worthwhile tradeoff. Not to mention that the simple fact that you CAN do such a thing is a very fun and educational experience about what is special with android.
Also, debloated, over clocked TouchWiz Roms like CleanRom are faster and able to be set up for greater battery savings. Without question. It's a large field! Have fun by doing, you can always go back without cost!

The title of the thread was "...how fast..." I've posted on this before. Can we humans detect the subtle differences? Are the new roms simply a placebo effect of speed? I don't know.
What I look to are facts. The only facts we can use in comparing roms are the benchmarking tools. I have tried many different roms...Incu's, Slim's, Synergy's, Phantom, etc.....I have recently been flashing the Incubus Jellywiz roms pretty regularly, but got frustrated with some of the bugs ( more on these later ). So I went and retried the latest Slim and Synergy.
I can say. There was a perceptable difference between Slim/Synergy vs. Jellywiz. So I did a benchmark test. I tested each rom under pretty much the same conditions.
1. Flash the latest.
2. Disable the same Allshare/Samsung crap.
3. Load all my apps using Titanium.
4. Let the Rom settle for a most of the day
5. Test in the evening
No Overclocking...No other special changes.
I tested Using Antutu and Quandrant Standard....Slim and Synergy were about the same...in the high 4k's...around 4800 Antutu. Incubus' Jellywiz is always around 7800. Slim/Synergy was around 4800 in Quadrant, Jellywiz is consistantly up near 6000.
There are trade-offs / bugs / features....but...if you're looking for speed, I don't think you can find anything faster that Jellywiz.
The latest Custom has a custom overclocking kernal....for fun I bumped it up to 1800mhz and ran a 9500 Antutu. right now I'm running 192min 1200max and still pull a 7200 antutu score.
You pick:
> Speed = Jellywiz
< Bugs = Custom stock
My $0.02
CleanRom 2.1 with the CleanKernel 1.2 runs excellent for me, no problems, definitely quicker than stock, very smooth.

Should I switch to custom stock ROM?

Is it worth loosing my warranty?
Why I'm asking this:
I miss battery life
I miss S8 UI
I miss speed(without paying stability)
I miss camera performance(if was better, and I know that any of this ROMs can't offer old camera drivers)
I miss sound enhancements
I want to try daydream:fingers-crossed:a
What's the best rom?
Requirements:
No MODS(like deleting stock apps, changing launcher etc. Only magisk)
S8 new look
Speed
Battery life
Stability(if possible, better than stock)
Ota(security patches, stock ota app)
P.S. Most stock feel as possible
P.S. 2. Stock battery life after nougat is disgusting.
P.S. 3 I heard that there is a sound mod, that makes phone louder and adds stereo sound with help of phone speaker. Nougat version?

Should you ? I think you pretty much answered your own question, you miss every bit of the stock rom.
I don't why you are talking about s8 stuff because this forum is for the s7.
If you are on galaxy s7, and want stock that bad I recommend Superstock ROM with Superstock kernel, it's pretty much stock with just few tweaks or none, I am using it and I score 8h sot pretty much everyday (no gaming)

[ROM] Superman or Superstock Rom ?

Hello guys,
Which ones does it make improvements to the stock ROM in battery and performance ? Those are the only two areas I care but i want a rom very stable.
Maybe my question is stupid because Superman and Superstock rom are really good, but I dont want to full wipe each time to try.
For the kernel, i am going to use Notorious kernel.
not sure yet
I am using BatMan rom with BatStock Kernel and all seems good. Very smooth with some S8 features

Theoretically Superstock would be just as fast as stock while Superman would be a little slower because is it deodexed. I personally noticed no difference after first boot. Both are very stable. I currently use Superman as a daily driver and manage ~2% loss overnight (6-8hrs sleep) and 12-25% loss during the day (usually about 15-17% for me though). Always with android wear connected (and therefore bluetooth enabled), LTE enabled and location enabled. If in doubt, I reckon use Superman and dont enable mods haha.
I used to care about only battery and performance but then I tried this rom and never looked back - I personally love some of the mods - launcher gestures, some appearance tweaks for looks (and battery if you make stuff black) + more. Superstock kernel performs just as well as stock but somehow saves battery (magic!). I would recommend this.
I havent tried notorious yet, but it doesnt seem like it has anything to offer more than superkernel does?
