Hello guys,
Which ones does it make improvements to the stock ROM in battery and performance ? Those are the only two areas I care but i want a rom very stable.
Maybe my question is stupid because Superman and Superstock rom are really good, but I dont want to full wipe each time to try.
For the kernel, i am going to use Notorious kernel.
not sure yet
I am using BatMan rom with BatStock Kernel and all seems good. Very smooth with some S8 features

Theoretically Superstock would be just as fast as stock while Superman would be a little slower because is it deodexed. I personally noticed no difference after first boot. Both are very stable. I currently use Superman as a daily driver and manage ~2% loss overnight (6-8hrs sleep) and 12-25% loss during the day (usually about 15-17% for me though). Always with android wear connected (and therefore bluetooth enabled), LTE enabled and location enabled. If in doubt, I reckon use Superman and dont enable mods haha.
I used to care about only battery and performance but then I tried this rom and never looked back - I personally love some of the mods - launcher gestures, some appearance tweaks for looks (and battery if you make stuff black) + more. Superstock kernel performs just as well as stock but somehow saves battery (magic!). I would recommend this.
I havent tried notorious yet, but it doesnt seem like it has anything to offer more than superkernel does?

Hi!
I'm new to the s6. I'm curious if there is a significant difference between heavily debloated stock (did it by hand, using the debloater tool from XDA) & stock based roms like TYRANNUS or Pure-Stock ExtraLite. Are they really worth it for battery & performance?
All this is quite confusing for me, I'm used to the simplicity of AOSP/CM & how you can set up everything with a kernel manager & if you mess up just use TWRP to fix it all, here it seems way more convoluted & I'd rather not start, if the gains aren't big.
(Currently with my debloated/rooted stock rom I'm getting 3.5 hours of SOT with web browsing & 6 hours while watching movies on it. The performance is fine)

As long as it's a samsung + s6 battery is so small, I don't think there will be a visible difference. Lucky enough to get 3hrs+.
Sent from my SM-G925F
3 hours what are you doing i go to work and browse all day and am at 50% power left. Im using auto brightness, lte and supernova kernel and ktoonz gov plus da on renegade rom latest pg1 froze few apps maybe 40 though Titanium backup pro and its debloated alot already i also use amplify pro.
Is it worth loosing my warranty?
Why I'm asking this:
I miss battery life
I miss S8 UI
I miss speed(without paying stability)
I miss camera performance(if was better, and I know that any of this ROMs can't offer old camera drivers)
I miss sound enhancements
I want to try daydream:fingers-crossed:a
What's the best rom?
Requirements:
No MODS(like deleting stock apps, changing launcher etc. Only magisk)
S8 new look
Speed
Battery life
Stability(if possible, better than stock)
Ota(security patches, stock ota app)
P.S. Most stock feel as possible
P.S. 2. Stock battery life after nougat is disgusting.
P.S. 3 I heard that there is a sound mod, that makes phone louder and adds stereo sound with help of phone speaker. Nougat version?

Should you ? I think you pretty much answered your own question, you miss every bit of the stock rom.
I don't why you are talking about s8 stuff because this forum is for the s7.
If you are on galaxy s7, and want stock that bad I recommend Superstock ROM with Superstock kernel, it's pretty much stock with just few tweaks or none, I am using it and I score 8h sot pretty much everyday (no gaming)

Wow....good luck ?
Hey guys,
just wondering which Kernel you are using as a daily driver.
Personally, I flashed CleanSlate today because it offers a lot of useful features and combines performance with battery life.
I think the other kernels will do this also, but yes...
Thx for opinions!
I'm hopping back and forth between Franken and Flash
Using CleanSlate right now
[kernel]ElementalX.
vibration control, stock stability, and it works.
Stock, none of them have anything that stands out majorly to me and it sounds like most of them will screw up updates and quite likely have compatibility issues and require me to start over from scratch on my phone if the tiniest thing goes wrong.
Wondering also what kernels people are liking for battery
I am using ElementalX kernel 1.04 for battery life, but it is not really awesome. I think when a better kernel comes il will change that
This really needs to be stickied.
I was using Franken kernel for the longest achieving a 6+ hrs of SOT after every full charge.
I like flash n go, so i don't like a lot of features just a simplified kernel that's good on battery without the need for me to use kernel manager.
But then i flashed Franco's kernel.
So right now my 3 in rotation are Flash kernel, Franco and franken.
edit: it's between flash kernel and franken tbh for me, no shade on franco, it's a stable backup for me
BUMP
Using Franco right now, battery life is a big priority.
Stock, don't see any reason to change it, works perfectly
Franco kernel for battery life, but if SimpleGX kernel come in the future i will change for sure...
Hello!
I want to replace the factory ROM with something better. I had a Xiaomi before and I miss a bit to be able to customize e.g. the lock screen and things like that. I like the Pixel UI so would like it to stay, just need more customization options and better battery life.
What are your recommendations?
Oh and it would be nice if it got OTA updates regularly!
Thank you!

My recommendation would be for EvolutionX, here's what I posted it their forum recently:
"This is the first custom I've ever flashed on my Pixel 7 Pro due to being very content with stock rooted and ASOP Mods to fulfil my customisation needs.
I must say I am very impressed! Installation was smooth and I didn't even need to 'faff' around with patching Magisk due to the simplicity of adb sideloading Magisk (note: for some reason the apk renamed to having a .zip extension didn't work, I needed to simplify it's name to "magisk.zip" which flashed perfectly. I was able to flash Kiri kernel via FKM (either perhaps because May stock had the relevant disabled flags or maybe EvoX just allows custom kernels to be flashed out of the box?).
There is a wealth of features which is great to have and everything just works! With the Kiri kernel everything is super smooth and even on the first overnight settling it was pulling 0.5% p/h battery, which I presume may only but improve over time.
Highly recommended, a big thanks to all involved in this rom "
And to add, battery life is for me considerably better. I know Google pushed a fix recently regarding the Google app, but on May factory release I was getting bad drain and prior to the fix, flashing Evo along with Kiri kernel solved that. All running smoothly!

Thanks for the recommendation! I've been looking at the Evo X, but I've read some negative reviews about the battery life. Kirisakura kernel makes better battery life in my opinion, I don't think it's the ROM. I have it up now with factory ROM, noticeably better battery life than with factory kernel.
But I'm looking for a custom ROM with good battery life by default, I don't want to root and change kernels.
As I stated in the title, how can I improve the overall phone performance, battery life and user experience? I've tried a couple of custom ROMs(PE+ CrDroid, ArrowOS, LineageOS, EvolutionX), and they were good but not satisfactory.
I think I just stepped in a big rabbit hole of configuring my phone and this is the first phone that I'm tinkering, so I'm pretty much clueless after flashing a custom ROM. Now I have so many questions after learning the possibilities.
1- Should I use a custom kernel? What will be the benefits?
2- Any ROM that prioritizes the performance and battery while doing so without any bloat? (Currently using ArrowOS 13.1)
3- What can I do to achieve further improvements to the phone?
I hope you guys can help me, thank you all in advance.
Flash xiaomi Eu rom
It's stock xiaomi rom but modded with removed extra bloatware apps
There is nothing best, you need to test everything and see which stuff is running well for your device. Be very careful doing those stuff, you must know how to recover from soft brick. Welcome to the game of roms and kernels.
as i learned it in the hard way.. be prepared to brick (soft or hard) your device...
1- Should I use a custom kernel? What will be the benefits? normally custom kernels is just "overclocked" settings.. this let you feel a fast device but it consumes more battery and battery life. and stock kernel is always 100% stable... any custome kernel does not have that level of stable... and no custom roms accept bugs with custom kernels.. so if you flash a custom kernel in a custom rom and have random reboots or dead 4g, camera, wifi, bluethoot, etc ... you are gonna be ignore in rom's support.
2- Any ROM that prioritizes the performance and battery while doing so without any bloat? (Currently using ArrowOS 13.1) in my opinion, lineage is the cream of custom roms. You should try all of them at least 1 month each to have a veredict of which is the most you like
3- What can I do to achieve further improvements to the phone? depends on for what do you use your phone... poco x3 pro have a great chipset and ram with great sensors...
we can`t tell you an answer cause (for example) i use my phone only to talk, whatsapp, twitter, 9gag and gcam. i do use bank apps an stuff but my daily apps are those 4 apps since 6-7 years ago.
You're a few years too late.
Back in 2011-2017 there were a lot of custom Tweaks for Kernels to optimize Stuff.
But with Treble/GSI and EAS (Energy aware Sheduling) that stuff has become so optimized out of the Box that you don't really NEED anything. The improvements are just minor.
As long as the OEM doesn't completly **** up. ^^
Also Hardware has become more and more powerfull, so even if it doesn't work perfectly well. You still get a fluid feeling decent rom. Only battery life won't be as awesome as it could be.
That's part of why there are still a lot of Custom ROM's out there, as there are a lot of people with different opinions on what features are essential and need to be built in, but not as many custom Kernels anymore.
Especially since most custom ROM's include their own Tweaks in their Kernel to harmonize perfectly together.
