Open Source WebOS - T-Mobile LG G2x

Would it be possible to build WebOS for our devices since it's gone open source?

That would actually be pretty cool, although I don't think it would be possible due to the fact that WebOS isn't designed to run on the Tegra 2 Platform. Then again, I might be wrong.

Exactly... the fact that it is open source does not mean squat... you have to have drivers to link the hardware to the software... and even if nvidia releases all the source code for the tegra2 drivers this will not matter as it is coded for android...
fundamentally it is possible to do, the only problem is one would have to code the drivers and everything related to them from the ground up with having very little clue where to start... a next to impossible feat...

No, I think it's running a dual core snapdragon. Same that's found in the HTC Flyer.

See its a big game. As soon as you get one. There's another.
But a 4.5 in. 1.2 dual core with 16 gb internal and 1gb of ram.
I'm keeping my g2x. In 6 months dual core will be obsolete.
Why keep waiting?

This just proves my point. Phones are like graphics cards. Every 6 months they double the power.
I'd wait for the sgs2 but look at that Hercules.
I've decided the g2x will do until next years tax return. By then ill get that damn monster.
Or a new quad core
Or just keep the g2x.
After 2 cores I'm not sure it matters.

The Infuse isn't dual core is it?
The Hercules uses a Dual-Core snapdragon similar to the Sensation @ 1.2Ghz. It isn't faster then the Tegra 2, but if it comes with an unlockable bootloader it might be the Sensation-Done-Right.... doubt it though. HTC is locking down all their phones.

My question is how does the screen feel.

The Hercules will be a sgs2 with a 4.5. Screen.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
eh.. always gonna be a newer phone. highly doubt any of these will have anything that will make the G2x inferior. only reason to switch would be personal preference.
I just did a lot of research why the Sensation is going to be a bad choice over the G2x.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13900588
The Tegra 2 stomps it in both CPU and GPU. The HDMI/microUSB MHL connection won't charge the phone unless the TV has an MHL connection, which sucks cause no TV's support that yet. And comes with an encrypted bootloader. All reference links are in the above thread.

Indeed, don't buy it if you want great performances.
It can't be slower than Desire. It has newer cpu and gpu (Adreno 205 vs Adreno 200 on Desire). And the lower resolution helps the performance too.

If you want to mod, you've got the right device. You have several good choices for custom roms/kernels. You can root and install ClockWorkMod recovery made especially for the Xoom (I use solarnz's R4c, v. 3.2.0.0) and either stick with Team Tiamat Moray rom/Odachi kernel or the 4G LTE version if that's what you have, or if you're adventurous, you could flash the latest Team Eos ICS (Android 4) rom. Check out this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798 for getting root and look in the Development section for the ICS nightlies.
Is xoom1 the same processor? I wasn't sure if buying the xoom2 was worth it.

Xoom 2 isn't worth it. Same processor (I believe) with a 200MHz overclock.

Just for your information...
Xoom:
CPU: NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 Dual Core @ 1 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA AP (a.k.a. tegra 2)
Xoom 2:
CPU: TI OMAP4430 @ 1.2 GHz
GPU: PowerVR SGX 540
Info:

I think it's best sticky with Xoom 1 instead of the Xoom 2.

Well that's not entirely true. Huawei has mainly produced low end handsets here in the states. From everything I've seen and read, their handsets are emanating a quality on par with Samsung which says a lot. I think they're gonna do very well.

I have had experience with the Ascend phone which is a low end prepaid phone and I got to say at the time it released I think aside from a problem with the usb port (which evo 4gs at the time had) the build quality was decent and non-xda devs had it cooking with cm7
vanilla android was nice and with the decent dev support it had that low end phone was keeping up with more powerful phones.
that sounds amazing, but i doubt most people here would upgrade until they put a processor as fast as a i7 in teh phones

Maybe someday there will be a power efficient x86 processor in a phone but the medfield isnt it. Its a 32nm processor, but to match a 45nm ARM processor's power efficiency, it would have 28nm.

My apologies, guess I've read wrong! Anyways it seems like a great chip, but it still needs to catch up to arm power efficiency... and arm has plans for a 20nm process later this year and 14nm the next year... It will be very interesting to see how Intel plays its hand in the mobile phone realm!
